These are not the marauding Goblinoids from the last time but trained soldiers. He drops the first soldier and lifts his shield to bear. He throws his hammer out twice only to be silently rebuffed each time, no sound of metal clanging on metal. Despite the surprise, the man is prepared. Modri had hoped to deal with both remaining soldiers, wound one, blind the other, but he has to settle for just the one and a blinding light fires from Modri's chest into the man's face, scaling him and temporarily blinding him.
