Race: Human

Gender: Male
Nationality: Chelaxian (Westcrown)

Age: 18
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 200 lb

Oracle's CurseHellboundInfernal influence grants you profane insight and weighs on your soul.

EFFECT

You cannot cast spells with the good or chaotic descriptors, and you can’t summon good or chaotic creatures. Good and chaotic creatures instinctively distrust you, and you take a –4 penalty on all Diplomacy checks against such creatures. You gain a +2 bonus on all Bluff and Intimidate checks.

At 5th level, you gain a +4 bonus to all saving throws against charm effects

At 10th level, you gain immunity to fire

At 15th level, any weapon you wield is treated as lawful and evil for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction.

Diabolist Raised (Campaign)
All your life you’ve lived within the grip of devil-possessed Cheliax. You care little for the religion of your country, but that is the way of life in the most magnificent empire in the world, and who are you to question the faith of the empire’s rulers? Certainly not a fool like some of your more idealistic acquaintances, possessed of bizarre ideals about personal freedoms and egalitarian rulership—who can say whatever happened to them? You know of Hell and the rigidity of its grim rulers, you’ve seen devils and how they might be employed to the betterment of those with the might to control them, and you know of the dark faith of your country. You might not be a devil worshiper yourself, but there are realities to living in Cheliax, and it’s always good to know what’s really going on behind the scenes. Your knowledge of diabolism grants you a +1 bonus on Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, and Sense Motive checks made against Westcrown’s nobility, and a +1 bonus on all saving throws made against mind affecting attacks from devils.

Family Ties (Drawback)
Your family is extremely important to you, and you feel disheartened when you can't do what they ask. When a family member makes a request of you, you must fulfill that request or take a –2 penalty on all Wisdom- and Charisma-based ability checks and skill checks until you either do what was requested or succeed at a DC 20 Will saving throw, which you can attempt once per day at the start of each day. You can't take this drawback if you have no family. If you ever lose your family or lose contact with your family, exchange this drawback for the Doubt drawback.

Extremely Fashionable (Equipment)

You really know how to make a good impression when you’re dressed well. Whenever you are wearing clothing and/or jewelry worth at least 150 gp (and not otherwise covered in gore, sewage, or other things that mar your overall look), you gain a +1 trait bonus on Bluff, Diplomacy, and Intimidate checks. One of these skills (your choice) is a class skill for you.

Concept: A drunk who is destined for Hell and is desperately looking for a way out.

Appearance: With black hair and blue eyes, lean muscles, and a solid frame, Ernelianus is beautiful to look upon. He dresses in black like a diabolist should, appearing every inch the young Chelaxian noble. His tastes are for finery though he has wasted so much on wine that he cannot currently afford to dress as he'd wish. His armour and weapons are well maintained. Though he is destined for Hell he is in no hurry to get there.

His eyes, piercing blue, should be cruel and would be if he had absorbed the teachings of Asmodeus properly but instead they are haunted. He knows his fate and it shows when you look at him. Some people avoid him, sensing that he is cursed, even animals will move away in fear. Those who are not so moved are the sort of people that he doesn't want for a friends.

Personality: A little morose from time to time and often hung over, Ernelianus, does still try to see the best in things. Yes, his soul is forfeit but on the positive side his family are all prospering because of the deal he made. As long as he doesn't dwell on that he can be quite cheerful even. He has become something of a hedonist in recent months. If he can experience all that life has to offer then perhaps he'll be able to distract himself from eternal suffering.

Background: As a child, Ernelianus Barbustus, was inculcated into the worship of Asmodeus. Like many good citizens he attended services and accepted the propaganda uncritically. As he came of age he volunteered to go through a ritual where he would sell his soul to Asmodeus in exchange for his family's prosperity. He did this willingly and knowingly and thought it a good deal. As a loyal Chelaxian his soul would go to his god anyway so selling it now for gain simply made logical sense.

After the ritual he began to experience visions of Hell, of eternal torment, of rigid laws, ruthlessly enforced, of a world with no compassion or love or even duty or honour. Everything had a price and actions were dictated by obedience to the letter of contracts rather than their spirit. Initially these visions were in his dreams but several months passed and he began excavating to see them in the waking world too. With them came the sure knowledge that this was his destiny. He would die and go to Hell, a permanent resident with no chance of escape.

He began drinking heavily to wash away the fears caused by the visions but that didn't help. He tried consulting legal experts, taking his increasingly battered contract to one lawyer after another. In their expensive opinions the contract was air tight. He was going to Hell or his whole family would suffer. They'd lose everything, be sold into slavery, maybe even worse. Drinking didn't help but while he was drunk he could forget.

In a vision or perhaps a drunken hallucination, Ernelianus was visited by a servant of Asmodeus, a powerful Pit Fiend who gave his name as Cultifer Hellghoul. The fiend explained that he was watching the young man and had high hopes for his future. That filled him with even greater horror, there really was no escape. For weeks after he noticed that he would gain temporary abilities when he acted in certain ways. When he cooperated to help someone achieve some aim or when he was helped he became resistant to extreme cold. When he initiated an attack against someone he became resistant to fire. He had been blessed by this devil...if you could call it a blessing.

That was the moment that he turned his back on Asmondeus. He knows he is destined for Hell but if he can diminish the devil's power even slightly in this world and save another soul from the fate he will have then he will have done some good. He quietly began to seek out others who had similar views, seruptitiously trying to find allies. Many times he broached the subject in round about ways to no avail. He even had to lie to claim he was seeking out rebels once when confronted.
