Deputy Nikole Holly
Caucasian female with perhaps a touch of native Inuit. She is short with an athletic build. Rather calm and friendly, she doesn't look that tough until you piss her off. By then it's probably too late. Much more bite then bark in this one.

Elevator Pitch: Nikole "Nikki" Holly originally grew up near Anchorage, Alaska. Her father was a military man which is what brought her and her family to Fort Knox, Kentucky where she ultimately went to college and completed her initial police training before finding a job with the Harlan County Sheriff's Office.

Deputy Holly showed great aptitude in the early years of her career, focusing on DWI and Roadside Drug Interdiction, and earning herself a spot on the Appalachian Drug Task Force serving the Southeastern Part of Kentucky and the Western Part of Virginia. Her primary role in the task force was to investigate and hamper criminal trafficking activity in the area - notably those of outlaw motorcycle gangs.

Priorities changed of course when the walkers appeared - suddenly the War on Drugs had to take a backburner to the War on the Virus. Nikki and her shift partners were split up and reassigned to protective details for local schools and hospitals. When those too were overrun, she found herself on her own for the first time in a long time. She had no reason to believe her parents were still alive. Fort Knox was amongst the first bases to fall.

Like the legendary wayfaring marshals of the Old American Wild West, Nikki found renewed purpose in wandering Appalachia in search of wrongs to right. Even in the midst of the apocalypse, the arms of justice had its reach.

It was on a trail just outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee that the law-woman met her match and barely walked away with her life. Hot on the trail of a religious cult that had been leaving a wake of bodies all the way from Knoxville, Nikki walked right into one of their traps and found herself captured. She gunned down a few of their followers, including the leader's adult son and wife, in the ensuing escape.

Motivated by revenge - the group hunted the former deputy as far as the Ozarks before she was confident she had lost them. It was there that she found the current group and decided that perhaps strength in numbers was welcome change. Weary of the world, Nikki settled into a role of helping the others with as much as she can though the fight left unfinished still weighs heavily in the back of her mind.

Definitely seems a long way out from home. What brought Nikole over to Southwest Missouri / Northwest Arkansas? Any family/relations in the area? What is her objective now that the world has gone to hell?

So uh, the true answer is apparently I'm bad at geography and got the starting location mixed up. The Ozarks are definitely not in Kentucky. Lol Oops. :) I think I'll add to her story though later tonight to give her more a reason for pushing south.
