The stone stair here leads down into darkness. It may once have had a roof and a markings in the thick stone walls around it indicate it may once have had a sturdy door as well, but both are long gone now.

Jesse take the lead, cautious as she moves quietly down the stairs, with Rodin close behind, followed by the rest of you. It is early and the sun is not yet high in the sky as you descend down the worn smooth steps, careful not to slip on the sloping stone, so little light penetrates down below.

Dampness enfolds you as you descend the short stairway. A faintly sulfurous smell tickles your nose, and it gets stronger the lower you go. There seems to be some sort of chamber beyond the stairs, and you catch a brief flash of blue-green light off to your right.

Without a source of light, you'll be hard pressed to proceed any further...
