Dolan takes aim at one of the smaller decaying draconic beasts and lands a bolt directly between its eyes. The effect, as he'd anticipated, is less than it might otherwise be due to the creatures advanced decaying state.

Baldin utters another brief supplication to the Morninglord and suddenly the shouts from the cultists and casters on the stairs die out in an eerie snap.

Daltin lashes out at the large draconic warrior again and slices another wide gash in its hide.

The draconic warrior lashes out at Daltin again, a claw and foot fining a perch and ripping further into Daltin's abdomen.

Yohan moves valiantly forward to take the front lines, the dwarf warriors moving slightly to clear a path for the Morninglord's holy warrior.

A spellcaster down the stairs retreats some as the semi-translucent black scythe before Daltin and Yohan swipes at Yohan, drawing blood despite his defensive stance.

The draconic beast before Yohan spits out a glob of acidic spittle at the holy warrior, but the glob flies wide.

    Beldas shouts out again.

"Keep the line! We're fending them off! For the glory of the Arcrown!"

As he speaks, the other caster down the stairs retreats and though he can no longer be heard, two small dragon shaped bolts of dark energy slam into Daltin.

The draconic beast before Daltin spits out a glob of acidic spittle at the enraged warrior, but the glob flies wide.

The cultists loose arrows at Daltin and Yohan, but all fly wide save one that shatters against Yohan's shield, narrowly missing his shoulder.

The dwarves, Bettargh included, return the favor with a volley of arrows of their own. Two sink into the shoulders of cultists, eliciting silent cries of pain.

Simimar and Lathai glance at each other at Aeruiel's offer. Simimar nods in acquiescence.

"Sehanine's hour nears and we would not mind some company before we head out again. Our tracks are to Tangled Trees though. We do not believe there is more we can do at this time to locate Inialos at this time. Perhaps our spiritual leaders or weavers can use their Art to locate him..."

Morn's words raise Simimar's eyebrow and have him shaking his head slightly.

"What are these hills you speak of in the vale of the mists..? Come, show us to this friend of yours."

At Jessies' words, Simimar and Lathai glance at the hin in a manner that indicates, they have not missed her presence. They simply nod and follow you under the shadow of the large oak. Simimar and Lathai both give the large tree a reverent pause before moving swiftly to Rodin's side.

    "Rodin!"

It is immediately clear they recognize the shallow breathing Rodin. Simimar leans down beside Rodin and draws a small strange fruit from a pouch at his waist. He places the fruit to Rodin's lips and squeezes it. A clear liquid leaves the fruit and flows into Rodin who's injuries immediately begin to heal and knit shut, causing him to gasp and open his eyes, fully awake and not only healed of all injuries, but invigorated as well. As his eyes take in his surroundings, he notices Simimar and Lathai, the brothers being the sons of an old client of his father's from Tangled Trees.

"Quite the diverse band you have here. Don't get many of the Stout Folk out here in the woods..."

Morn's words elicit some mirth from the elves initially at the mention of the Harpers and the Zhents, but it is his divulsion of your wounded companion that draws their attention and turns their mood to current matters. They eye Morn warily, though they do not show aggression, perhaps now expecting him to be more forthcoming than his half-elven companion.

Furthermore, it was even more worrisome and suspect to the tiny rogue that, for now, the voice in her head from the supposed invisible creature who lives in the oak tree had strangely grown silent, even though Jessie had asked it a specific question whether it knew the new arrivals, which made it even more important for her to ask again.

@Terran, might want to edit this post, see your private thread from prior to this post...

Don't think its sour grapes, though behind the scenes, rolls seems to be coming up more average for me, so not sure what's up. That said, willing to entertain other dice roller if everyone wishes.

As Aeriel talks to the newcomer Elves who remain openly armed with their loaded bows pointed at the ground, Jessie likewise remains armed with her fancy composite short bow as well while the diminutive Halfling continues to stand watch from atop the large rock in the oak tree room.

The elves are holding their bows, but they are not knocked, just FYI.

    Quote

When Aeriel dodges directly answering the stranger's inquiries about the party's activities and instead pumps the Elves for information about themselves and this place, Jessie smiles from ear-to-ear as caster negotiates with the skill of a rogue!

Aeruiel, not Aeriel FYI, is not a caster, she is a warrior, just so we're all on the same page moving forward.

Simimar and Lathai Both arch eyebrows at Aeruiel's description and question. They glance at each other, then turn back their attention only to shake their heads.

"It sounds as though you have found much here. We've come across some kobold hunters a few nights past, slew the vermin, but otherwise, have heard of none of these things, though giant ants and the fey, with all their mischief, are both known denizens under the boughs.

That a fey almost killed a companion of your seems odd. They are mischievous, bothersome to most, to be certain, but rarely lethal unless provoked...

A bow-staff? Mean you an Elvencraft bow? Such items are not easily crafted, nor often found outside the hands of archer of the Fair Folk. Is your companion Tel Quessir? Are they wounded?"

Simimar seems genuinely concerned. At the appearance of Morn, he and his brother tense some, but quickly ease and nod their heads respectfully, even laughing, a singsong tone that is quite pleasing.

"Simimar and Lathai Evioro of Tangled Trees. It is getting crowded indeed.

Our thanks for your offer. We fear the worst. Something dangerous is lurking around these ruins. One of our friends, Nylian Moonglade by name, was killed north of here. We found his body. The marks upon it were not left by kobolds, giant ants or even fey but by forged weapons.

His companion, Inialos Oakwood, was with him and we have not found him or a trace of him yet."

Dolan hesitates, the wall of light still blocking his view.

Baldin utters a brief supplication to the Morninglord and sends healing energies into the limp form of Yohan, which immediately twitches and throw its eyes open. The wall of light suddenly vanishes.

Daltin looses no time and enters a rage, causing even the hardened dwarf warriors to take a half step back, giving him some space. He immediately lays into the hovering draconic warrior and slices a wide gash in its hide.

The draconic warrior returns the favor, lashing out at Daltin with both claws and feet at the enraged warrior giving his personal safety little thought. One of the clawed feet find a perch and rips into Daltin's shoulder.

Yohan finding himself revived, call the Morninglord's powers to channel some more healing energies through him, feeling them burn away his wounds. He grabs his mace and slowly drags his armored body to its feet.

A spellcaster down the stairs finishes a brief supplication and a semi-translucent black scythe manifests before Daltin and the dwarf warrior beside him, swiping at the dwarf warrior and drawing blood.

The draconic beast before him tries to bite at the dwarf warrior, but misses its mark, groaning in an unnatural fashion.

    Beldas shouts out again.

"Hold the line! Aim at the dragonkin!"

As he speaks, another caster can be heard completing an incantation from down below and a coruscating ray of dark energy zips up and flies just shy of Daltin. This is followed by an audible cussing.

The draconic beast before Daltin tries to bite him, but it too cannot find his thigh.

The cultists loose arrows at Daltin and the dwarf warrior beside him, a couple hit their mark, sinking into both warriors and eliciting a grunt of pain from the dwarf warrior.

The dwarves, Bettargh included, return the favor with a volley of arrows of their own and a slash from the waraxe of the dwarf beside Daltin. Most miss, but one arrow sinks into the hovering dragonkin and draws blood. He proceeds to rip the arrow out of his shoulder in rage.

The skeletons, the decaying skeletal remains of orc warriors by the looks of their hunched bodies and large falchions, step forward with surprising agility and slash at the dwarf guardians. One behind the front line throws a javelin at them too, but it flies wide. One falchion finds its mark however and another dwarf warrior is laid low with a painful cry.

Finwe acts fast and completes another incantation. This one causes a ball of dark, sticky matter to appear and rapidly expand within the stairwell, engulfing many of those upon it and soliciting gasps and cries of dismay from below. The translucent scythe that had hovered beside the large spiritual hammer vanishes from sight instantly.

From down the stair, beyond the large strands of spiderwebs, chanting can be heard again, though without visible effect.

The cultists can be heard struggling below with the tightly knit strands of arcane webbing.

Qwynn runs off to grab some barrels.

Meanwhile, one of the zombies closest to the top of the stairs manages to tear itself free of the webbing and advance further up behind the skeletons...

I didn't ask before about these stone beds, but are they built in or movable?

Yes. They are stone slabs on stone footings. They weight about 600 lbs.

    Quote

If they are built in then I might use my round to go get those kegs and roll them down the stairs; a mini-Indian Jones temple trap.

That's fine if you wish to try. Kegs will be about 50 lbs. full of liquid.

    Quote

Also, are there no falling trap here in this dwarven hall entrances? We encountered many in the lower hall that were recent additions, wouldn't they reinforce their home before making the effort to trap the lower halls?

Sorry if the text of the battle wasn't clear, but though you do not see it, you do hear a loud roar of water travelling down the stairs every few moments when you hear movement on the stairs. Something it clearly being triggered by the cultists that you can't see. I did forget to mention it this last round. I'll edit my post.
