Hotah, The White Tiger Background Hotah was born free on a ship sailing south on the white sea to sell furs and iron. Pirates would take the ship soon after entering the River of Tears, capturing and enslaving any crew and passengers who survived the violent boarding. He and his mother were sold in the slave markets of the Great Forks to a quarry a short ways from the city. The work was grueling and though his mother did what she could to protect him, punishments were doled out regularly for unproductive or disobedient slaves, Hotah was often times both. The brutality of his early life would only become more severe as the impertinent young boy entered his teenage years. Hotah's mother was the only constant in his life besides the overseer’s whip, but she would eventually be taken from him when a broken bone from an overzealous punishment became infected. The young slave did everything he could but without medicine or a doctor the fever took her life. Filled with a burning rage, Hotah dreamt of making his master and the overseers pay but the young slave’s anger grew too strong to keep from the eyes of the overseers. As a warning to the other slaves they beat him mercilessly, leaving him for dead in the quarry with only the moon to watch his final hours. While his consciousness wavered on the edge of living and dying, Hotah Exalted. Luna appeared before him as a young healer tending his wounds while speaking softly of the greatness in store for the young slave. With each pass of their hands the wounds of the broken youth would ease, then disappear until he was hale and strong once again. Hotah awoke suffused with power and occupying his spirit form, a tiger with white fur like the moon that had shone upon him. The anger that had always been present since the death of his mother was even stronger as the essence fever took hold of him. When he finally retook his human form the young man was a slave no longer, gore crusted his body, with overseers and owners strewn in pieces about him. Running into the night Hotah escaped to the south fearing retribution or the Wyld Hunt. After days of wild scrambling he stumbled upon a beastman patrol and was brought back to the Nameless Lair. One of Ma-Ha-Suchi’s Lieutenants recognized him for a new Exalt and brought him into The Silver Pact, giving him the moonsilver tattoos of his caste, the Full Moon. Ma-Ha-Suchi was quick to realize the talent the young tiger possessed and made a rare exception in taking him for a mentee. Under his tutelage he learned the ways of the Scavenger Lands, how to fight with fists and claws and to use his new found powers. Hotah reveled in the freedom of the outdoors, every moment not spent training was used to explore the wilds around the Nameless Lair. Between Ma-Ha-Suchi's lessons and the peace of the forests Hotah began to temper his rage, gaining mastery of his Essence fever did much to help but his anger was only controlled, never gone. While his mentor's teachings of a unified Lunar realm speak to Hotah, he sees his new found powers as a tool to fight against the slavery so endemic across the Realm. Leading raiding parties for his mentor, Hotah frees any slave he comes across but as years pass these efforts begin to seem too small for the Lunar. With the disappearance of the Scarlet Empress, Ma-Ha-Suchi's plans have begun to gain speed, and Hotah has decided to leave the Nameless Lair and finally return to Great Forks. Appearance Dressed in muted fabrics of green and grays, Hotah's clothes are subtle where he is loud and brash. A sturdy shirt of mail is often hidden beneath his garb, but he is otherwise unarmed and armored. Tied to his upper arm is a cord of leather adorned with a silver disk, the only decoration on the otherwise soberly dressed young man. Hotah's face is much like the rest of him, broad and strong. His nose is wide, cheekbones high, and lips full. Below heavy brows are pale blue eyes which gaze with a sharp intensity. His jaw is powerful though slightly crooked from a misaligned break and is the only flaw in an otherwise handsome, if brutish looking man. His tell appears in the form of black tiger stripes spread across his entire body. From a distance the stripes may be hard to discern from his tanned ochre skin but on closer inspection the tattoo like streaks are extremely visible. His straight hair hangs down to his shoulders when not tied up in a warrior's tail, and while it was once black it has turned snow white with his exaltation. If his hair suggests old age his body screams virility. He is a towering figure of muscle and bone, Hotah's long limbs and heavy fists cut a picture of wrath. If he moves brashly and speaks loudly forgive the former slave, he once slouched, and whispered to avoid the lash and those scars still stand upon his back.
