  1. - Fluff is complete. Working on ironing out the last bits of mechanical stuff. If all you are really wanting to see for final applications is completed fluff plus a basic mechanical template you can consider my app completed. Alchemy Sphere is actually quite potent when you know what you are doing with it. There is a bit of cheese in there as well, but as long as the DM is reasonable most of the time you can still get away with some fun tricks with it.
  2. @Arklytte - I will need your approval for my custom Martial Tradition. Otherwise, hoping to get the fluff and sheet done before your deadline. Most of the core mechanics are already spoken for in my mechanics post.
  3. Origin Race Info - Spellscarred Aasimar Spellcarred Aasimar's are an offshoot of their more celestial oriented brethren. Whereas normal Aasimar's often tapped into their innate divine energies, Spellscarred Aasimar focused more training their bodies to be resistant to magical energies in general. Generations of selective breeding and exposure to numerous magical energies have suffused the forms of such Aasimar making their bodies far more durable against magic and their senses sharper. Like their cousins, Spellscarred Aasimar can and often do pass for human in appearance though most often prefer it that way so as to surprise any would be magical assailants. Race: Spellscarred Aasimar Size: Medium Type: Humanoid (Aasimar) Speed: 30ft Limbs: Arms x2, Legs x2 Languages: Common & Celestial Origin Talents Starting: 1 Phenomenal Potent + 4 Potent Trades: Trading 2 Potent talents for 4 Auxiliary talents and 2 Utility Talents. Phenomenal Potent (2): Spell ResistanceSpell Resistance [potent] You gain spell resistance equal to 6 + your character level. You may lower or reinstate this spell resistance as a standard action. You may select this talent a second time (or a first time if you gain spell resistance or already possess spell resistance from another source besides equipment) to increase your spell resistance to 11 + your character level. x2 Potent (2): Quick on the PickupQuick On The Pickup [potent] When you gain a level in a favored class, you gain both +1 hit point and +1 skill rank instead of choosing either one or the other benefit. You can choose other favored class bonuses in place of either of these bonuses (but not both). Associated Feat: Fast Learner., SpellhardySpellhardy [potent] You gain a +2 origin bonus on saving throws against spells, spell-like abilities, and magic sphere effects. Auxiliary (4): Sightless ActionSightless Action [auxiliary] An invisible attacker gets no advantages related to hitting you in melee. That is, you do not lose your Dexterity bonus to armor class, and the attacker does not get the usual +2 bonus for being invisible. The invisible attacker’s bonuses do still apply for ranged attacks, however. You do not need to attempt Acrobatics checks to move at full speed while blinded and do not take any penalties on Strength– or Dexterity-based checks due to blindness. You may take this talent a second time. If you do, you can choose to take a -5 penalty on an attack roll against a target you have pinpointed to ignore any miss chance that they might possess from concealment. In addition, attackers you pinpoint get no advantages related to hitting you with ranged attacks, regardless of the range. That is, you do not lose your Dexterity bonus to armor class, and the attacker does not get the usual +2 bonus for being invisible. Associated Feats: Blind-Fight, Blinded Blade Style (if taken once), Improved Blind-Fight, Greater Blind-Fight (if taken twice). x2, Energy ResistanceEnergy Resistance [auxiliary] Choose two of the following energy types: acid, cold, electricity, fire, or sonic. You may maintain this effect for any duration and may suppress it as a move action or swift action. This light does not function in areas of magical darkness., Quick RestQuick Rest [utility] You only need to sleep 2 hours per day to gain the benefit of 8 hours of sleep. This allows a character that requires rest to regain spell points or prepare spells to do so after only 2 hours, but this does not allow a character to regain spell points or prepare spells more than once per day. Oaths (1) +1pt - Oath of RitualOath: You must perform a specific physical or magical ritual every day to maintain your abilities. This ritual takes one hour to perform and can be performed anywhere, but requires that you either spend 5 gp per character level or reduce your maximum hit points by an amount equal to your character level for 24 hours every time you perform the ritual. Defiance Penalty: Any day which you do not perform the ritual, all of your ability scores are treated as being 2 lower for all purposes. Atonement: To atone, you must perform the ritual once again every day for at least 3 days, making an additional sacrifice worth 100 gp x your character level squared on one of those days. *[5gp x HD Method] Raphael must smoke various alchemical agents each day to help maintain his body's ability to generate chemicals used for poisons (Via the Natural Materials equipment talent taken twice). [HP Damage = HD Method] Alternatively, Raphael can produce the chemicals to smoke from his own body, but this version of the process weakens his body. (IE: HP Loss) Oath Boons (10pts Total) 1pt - Keen SensesKeen Senses (1 point): You gain Darkvision 60' (or add +30' to existing Darkvision). You quadruple the distance you are able to see in fog, mist, smoke, etc. (usually from 5 ft. to 20 ft.). You gain Perception as a class skill, and if you have 5 or more ranks in it, you gain its skill unlock. If you have at least 10 ranks in Perception, you reduce all range based penalties to Perception by half. This applies to Range Increment penalties as well. 1pt - Skill SuperioritySkill Superiority (Ex) (see text) For every Oath point you spend on this Oath boon, select one skill. You gain a competence bonus on all checks made with that skill equal to 2 + 1/2 your character level. [Perception] 1pt - Fated Birth IFated Birth (Ex) (1 point): Some circumstance of your birth held special significance and has influenced your life in subtle ways ever since. Choose one basic (non-advanced) motif from the Fate magical sphere. You are under the effects of that motif permanently as a Supernatural effect, using your character level as your caster level. You cannot discharge this effect. If the chosen motif has an effect that changes or replenishes when cast, consider it to be cast again whenever you rest to regain spell points. This Boon may be taken up to three times, representing either astrological, spiritual, or aetherial significance.: The SunThe Sun (motif) You may grant a motif that ensures a glorious dawn after the darkest night. Whenever the target is below 50% of their maximum hit points, they roll twice on all saving throws and take the better result. (Astrological) 1pt - Fated Birth II: TemperanceTemperance (motif) You may grant a motif that protects against the whims of luck. When the target rolls a natural 1 on a saving throw or attack roll, they may reroll it. If the new roll is also a natural 1, this effect does not allow them to reroll again, though the motif ’s discharge effect may allow them to. (Spiritual) 1pt - Fated Birth III: The WorldThe World (motif) You may grant a motif that enhances the target’s ability to succeed in all their endeavors whenever they commit their efforts. Whenever they take 10 or take 20 on a skill check, they gain a +2 insight bonus to the result. This bonus increases by +1 for every 5 caster levels. (Aetherial) 2pt - Enhanced AbilitiesEnhanced Abilities (Su) (2 Oath points) Your Oath grants you strength and acuity beyond that of your kin. At 4th level and every even-numbered level thereafter, you gain a +2 enhancement bonus to one of your ability scores. These bonuses do not stack with each other until you are at least 10th level, at which point they may stack up to a maximum of +4. This improves to a maximum of +6 at 13th level. From level 13 onwards, you gain two +2 ability score bonuses at every level rather than just one at even-numbered levels. 3pt - Spell ResistanceSpell Resistance (Su) (3 Oath points) You gain the ability to shrug off magical effects, gaining spell resistance of 11 + your character level. If you already possess spell resistance, you increase this existing spell resistance by 6. You may lower or raise this spell resistance as a standard action. Feats 1. Improved Initiative, Combat Stamina (Bonus), Focused Stamina (Bonus), Extra Origin Talent (Trait Bonus Feat) 2. Combat Sphere Focus: Alchemy 3. Vaporized Formulae 4. -- Traded for 2 Oath Points -- 5. -- Traded for 2 Oath Points -- Prodigy Extra Class Skills (3): Fly, Ride, Swim Scholar's Knacks (2) 2. Expert HealingExpert Healing The scholar adds half her class level (minimum 1) as a bonus on all Heal checks. Whenever a creature regains hit points due to the scholar’s use of the Heal skill (including her medical training class feature), or from an alchemical item the scholar has prepared (such as the salve formulae from the Alchemy sphere), any healing in excess of their normal maximum hit point total is applied as temporary hit points which last for 1 hour per class level the scholar possesses. 4. Rapid AlchemyRapid Alchemy The scholar’s research has taught her speedy and efficient techniques for creating various alchemical items. The scholar may craft any single alchemical item worth 150 gp or less (such as a vial of alchemist’s fire, smokestick, or tanglefoot bag) in half an hour; she must still succeed at a Craft (alchemy) check and pay all material costs as normal. The scholar cannot decrease this time any further by increasing the Craft DC. If the scholar knows the formulae for an improved version of an alchemical item worth 150 gp or less (such as the improved alchemist’s fire formulae) she reduces the crafting time to 15 minutes instead of half an hour. In addition, the scholar adds her Intelligence modifier to the DC of any alchemical item she crafts herself (this does not include improved alchemical items made with the Alchemy sphere). Material Impositions (1) 5. Dowsing RodThe scholar’s studies have taught her how to identify objects that serve as natural dowsing rods capable of leading her towards a person, place, or thing. The scholar must have seen the thing she seeks or an accurate representation of it (such as a detailed portrait) in order for this ability to work. If searching for a non-specific type of thing (such as the nearest body of water, the nearest city, etc.) the scholar need not have seen it or a representation before, but the rod becomes much less accurate, and may lead to something other than what she seeks (for example, a scholar seeking the nearest body of water could be led to a puddle or the ocean, and one seeking the nearest city could be led to a bustling metropolis or the ruins of an ancient civilization). Once activated, the dowsing rod will always point towards the desired target, though it gives no indication as to the target’s distance and always points directly towards it, regardless of obstacles. If the target is protected by a nondetection spell or similar effect, the scholar uses her class level as her caster level when determining if her dowsing rod can pierce the effect. This is a supernatural effect, except for when using it to locate the nearest body or source of water, in which case it can be used as an extraordinary ability. Custom Martial Tradition: Potshot Toxicologist The potshot toxicologist specializes in tools meant to effectively deliver poisons to their targets. Be it with a finely honed dagger or a well aimed crossbow bolt the potshot will inevitably deliver his deadly payload. 4. "What is the difference between medicine and poison? There is none. It's all about application." (, ) () PRIMARY ROLE Debuffs & Heals SECONDARY ROLE Skill Junky RACE: Spellscarred Aasimar AGE: 26 GENDER: Male Appearance Raphael's Body From afar you notice a human looking man in his mid twenties of sleight frame moving with a limber gait. His curly brown hair frames a square jar and large nose set upon by a thick set of spectacles. The man's well groomed moustache and fashionable dress attire suggest a meticulous level of self grooming care. Certainly the man carries himself with an air of pride, but as he draws closer he notices some dirt upon his brass spectacles and removes them momentarily to clean them with an unblemished handkerchief drawn from his inner coat pocket. Despite the minor stop, the man's gaze sweeps the area lingering on you as though assessing every inch of your being. It is almost discomforting for the man's unabashed focus behind light grey eyes never waivers despite you obviously noticing his attentions. Holding his spectacles up to the light, you notice the man's hands seem thin with slender fingers delicately shifting their held object with care. As the man continues his pace, a brief gust gently lifts the lower folders of the man's coat revealing several vials and cylindrical containers secured within; indeed, now that you are getting a closer look you notice the man's belt adorned with several marked leather pouches all within easy access. By sheer happenstance the sun's rays strike the man's person at just the right angle causing a flash of metal to catch your eye. You squint for a moment before realized that beneath the man's waistcoat sits chainmail of some sort. The color is most certainly not iron or steel, but whatever it is the man seems not the slightest bit hindered by it. Thoughts whirl about your mind as your curiosity pushes you further. No large or obvious armaments adorn the man's person save for a common looking belt dagger. His only other noticeable gear is a fine leather backpack secured with multiple straps. Personality Raphael's Mind An uptight gentleman with an unseen chip on his shoulder, Raphael Chevalier is at heart a proud man trying to do some good for the world both for others and to make up for his own past mistakes. An intellectual by nature, Raphael takes great pride in using his knowledge to resolve issues rather than brute force. Even when he is required to use force Raphael will often look back on the conflict in hindsight to consider if there were other options he might have taken. This is less in regards to self doubt, but rather Raphael's habit of trying to learn from every experience. Though tempered by experience, Raphael's is still possessed of a moderate pride and ego when it comes to his professional skills. This can make him come off as a bit snobbish and narcissistic; however, these traits stem from a genuine desire to be the best that he can be at his craft. If one were to observe Raphael's actions for long enough, one would see that behind the well dressed visage lies a man with a caring soul. This is not to say that Raphael is a bastion of righteous morality however as Raphael has long since learned to set aside his feelings for cold logic when a dangerous situation arises. He has no qualms about taking the life of an evil person or wild beast if it will potentially spare another, a line of thinking much opposed to the common hippocratic oath taken by many doctors. Practical in most measures, Raphael does tend to have a weakness for smoking and sick children. The former of which Raphael regularly consumes despite knowing it to have negative impacts on his personal health. The later of which always reminds Raphael of his own youth and watching his family die from illness. Whenever Raphael might encounter a sick child he will make time out of his schedule to tend to them. This protective nature towards children is also one of the few things that can truly enrage an otherwise calm and collected Raphael should he witness a child being brought to harm. While possessed of a fair bit of knowledge, Raphael is not necessarily the most subtle people person out there. He has a bad habit of pointing out ways someone could improve upon themselves or a task they attempt. Thought this habit comes from a place of wishing to improve efficiency in others, it very often comes off as condescending. When called out for such behaviors, Raphael often responds with disappointment thinking upon how his subject shall never improve if an endeavor to change is not made. As one can imagine, this makes those who call Raphael a friend few and far between save for patients whom he has saved. For all his flaws, Raphael still clings to his dream of becoming a potent healer. He takes some measure of joy and appreciation in the knowledge that such a task will never actually end as there is always more to learn. He reconciles his practice of poison making with the fact that it aids him in his medical knowledge. Raphael feels that so long as he does not lose sight of his goals again he will inevitably continue down the path his teacher Anastasia set for him all those years ago. Backstory Raphael's Story Thus Far Born as the sixth child to a poor family in the city of Alasmor, Raphael's early years were fraught with hunger, sickness, and struggles. Raphael and his siblings were often left to their own devices and when hunger struck their only recourse was to steal scraps in the markets. It wasn't a grand life, but Raphael made do as best he could. The already hard life took a turn for the worse when the plague struck Alasmor. Raphael was only six when it hit and he watched helplessly as one by one his family members succumbed to illness. Raphael too would have met his end had it not been for a traveling physician who found him lying in the streets and took pity on him. When Raphael's health and senses finally returned to him, he quickly realized he had nothing left to return to. The grief overwhelmed the young boy and he felt himself powerless in the face of the disease that had taken his family. In a show of kindness, the physician offered to allow Raphael to travel with her and learn how to heal. She introduced herself as Anastasia and without hesitation Raphael latched on to the woman's offer. He would never be powerless before disease ever again... he would not lose anyone he cared about.... never again. Traveling with Anastasia was no easy task. The woman was a demanding teacher and more often than not Raphael felt himself more a servant than an apprentice. Things like manners, etiquette, and bathing became forcefully ingrained into Raphael by Anastasia despite his confusion as to how such things would help him become a better doctor. One of her favorite quotes was "A man who cannot help himself cannot hope to help others." Begrudgingly Raphael did what he was told and in time his patience was rewarded with knowledge. Raphael took to these lessons with rapt fascination and zeal, taking pride whenever he was able to successfully heal a patient. Over time his pride in his skills began to turn to arrogance, so sure was he that he could best any natural illness with his knowledge. Those skills were put to the test when his teacher Anastasia took ill one day with a devilish fever. Raphael's ego blinded him and so sure was he that he could tend to her that Raphael accidently mixed too much of the medicinal herbs into his teacher's tonics. Instead of healing his teacher Raphael poisoned her and watched as the woman who had taken him in all those years ago succumbed to wracking pain and agony before passing away. When Raphael realized what he had done he was devastated. Sickness had not killed his mentor, his own arrogance had. Spiraling into a self feeding combination of depression and self loathing, Raphael buried his sorrows in his studies. He replayed the events over and over in his mind before practicing his mixing processes. Even when Raphael could measure the proper amounts of herbs and medicines blindfolded he was not satisfied. So worried was Raphael that his healing mixtures were not done correctly that he ceased using them altogether. This caused further tragedy however for Raphael was unable to save several patients due to being unwilling to use any alchemical remedies on them. Realizing he could not call himself a doctor if he refused to heal others, Raphael desperately sought a way to hone his medicinal skills without risking the lives of his patients. In doing so, Raphael came upon a chilling solution to his dilemma. If he feared his medicines to be poison, why not practice the art of poison to learn from itself? Beasts, bandits, and other vile creatures.... these things Raphael would take little to no guilt from harming especially if they threatened his own life. Why not put their death's to practical use? The cold logic of it settled in with disturbing ease in Raphael's mind all thanks to one train of thought.... "Never again." With need for ample subjects with which to test his poisons, Raphael set out as a mercenary adventurer. Thankfully, such a job was always in high demand in many lands and Raphael found himself no shortage of work. Nobody questioned a hoard of rampaging bugbears suddenly falling over and turning purple in the face if it meant peace for local populace. People praised Raphael for his efforts but he ignored it all. He did not need the validation of others, he only wanted to better himself. These methods were simply a means to an end. With time, his skills improved and eventually Raphael began to make use of his healing knowledge once more. It was not until Raphael came across a young farming family in the countryside that Raphael began to realize something was wrong with him. The family was a young couple with two children, a boy and a girl. The young girl had contracted an unknown disease which had fascinated Raphael but for all the wrong reasons. Instead of thinking how he might heal her, Raphael immediately began wondering how he might replicate the symptoms with poisons. It was during this thought process that Raphael realized how far he had fallen from his original goals and his teacher's lessons. In his blind obsession to hone his poison craft for the sake of healing had made him forget why he had taken up the healer's profession in the first place. The internal turmoil of this slow dawning realization forced Raphael to step outside and weep bitterly. After a few hours, Raphael returned and tended to the girl with nothing but a smile and a warm voice to comfort her. He would do better by his teacher, by others, and by himself. "Never again....." In his research into the young girls illness, Raphael discovered that only a rare herb found in the heart of the most ancient of forests could potentially hold the cure for her illness. With a solemn pledge, Raphael informed the family that he would not rest until he found the herb and healed there daughter. The promise was not just to the family however, as this quest was also a journey of redemption for Raphael's soul. He would risk his life for the sake of others and prove to himself that he was worthy of the lessons his teacher had imparted to him long ago. Without further delay, Raphael departed for the far off town of Canismini in hopes that the primeval forest surrounding it might hold the ancient healing herb he sought.
  5. In case I need to specify, my apps is mostly complete. (Fluff 100% complete) Main mechanical aspect is spending last bit of gold and maybe a few feats. (Subject to change depending on final party composition).   App should be ready for review and submittal.
  6. @Arklytte - Upon reviewing my mechanics, I will be switching back from Prodigy to Commander. Given Bonaparte's primary focus will be using tactics/boasts in combat the Commander class not only synergizes with this better but also fits the flavor of the character more. Fluff of the character is not changing. Just going back and tweaking mechanics.
  7. Bonaparte T. Rasque - "Le Commandant" At the introduction of the two headed warrior's names Bonaparte gave a courteous nod to both heads in turn. Their follow up question regarding the mentioning of Bonaparte's name seemed only to elicit an excited gleam in the man's reptilian eyes. "Roh'Gau your analytical perceptions are more astute than the common folk I see. Yes indeed my name is often held in reverence on many less experienced tongues. Some feel as though speaking it aloud might be a dishonor to them so great is my name, but such humble honorings are really quite unnecessary. I am already aware of the weight my name carries and begrudge no man or woman for choosing to refrain from casually speaking it aloud." Despite his heavy focus on his own ego, Bonaparte did not seem to miss Roh'Gau's mention of their home island's proximity to the Isle of Oculus. "Oh? Your home is within trading distance to our next mission's destination? That would make it a wonderful spot to setup a resupply camp if events necessitate. Plus I am certain if there are others even half as strong as you both there we could likely use good men and woman for the frontlines." In all his talk with Roh'Gau, it seemed Bonaparte had completely forgotten about Garrak which worked out well for by the time Bonaparte's attention turned away from Roh'Gah it appeared Garrak had found himself a new dialogue partner. Indeed, several members appeared to have gathered around a section of the bar where several platters of an enticingly smelling confection was being served. Glancing back to the two headed warrior, Bonaparte beckoned him to follow. "Come, let us see what that enchanting smell is coming from...."  Leaving his now empty mug behind Bonaparte slid off his stood and, with a brief pause to ensure his attire was still in perfect appearance, made his way towards the gathered group. As he did, the man's keen ears picked up multiple topics of dialogue but the two that seemed most prominent were the discussions of anti-beholder tactics along with the praises of the confectionary treats being served. "Preparation and planning are cornerstones to any good battle strategy, but there is one more aspect to battle equally as important... the ability to adapt to unforeseen changes." Sweeping his gaze, Bonaparte bid each of his fellow guild members a toothy smile and a nod before helping himself to one of the cups of toasted cream. Holding it just below his nose for a moment, Bonaparte savored the smell though he refrained from immediately wolfing down the impeccably baked treat. "A little known fact about beholderkin is that the magical effects produced from their eyes are not always the same for each beholder. You may plan on protecting yourself against a Disintegrate effect only to find yourself on the receiving end of a Stone to Lava transmutation beneath your feet." As if to accentuate his point, Bonaparte lightly broke the crust of his Crème brûlée with his spoon. "Thus is it paramount that all hunter's be able to adjust their tactics accordingly on a moments notice. Something I just so happen to specialize in." Peacocking aside, Bonaparte appeared ready to continue on his self advertise before he placed a spoonful of desert within his maw. Immediately the reptilian man's eyes went wide and an unrestrained growl of satisfaction echoed from his throat. "Oh my word! This is fantastic!" With only a moderate sense of self restraint, Bonaparte took two more spoonfuls of his dessert as he savored every second. Only after he realized he was making a scene did the man appear to compose himself once more. Eying the red haired woman who had produced the treats, Bonaparte gave the woman a respectable acknowledgement. "Do I have the pleasure of making the acquaintance of Professor Monique Rousseau? If your scouting skills are as perfected as your baking I've no doubt those beholderkin will be in for trouble!" The ale from earlier still flowed through Bonaparte's system but not enough to damage the man's attention to appearances. If anything, it merely made him MORE talkative. "Bonaparte T. Rasque, Le Commandant extraordinaire at your service."
  8. Thank you! Had to delete the original source and re-paste your command with my own image URL but managed to get my image floating with the correct margin.
  9. Bonaparte T. Rasque - "Le Commandant" A new pair of voices percolated into Bonaparte's senses as the two headed warrior offered Bonaparte a drink. "Ah, a fan! Please do feel free to shower me with praise and gifts of gratitude, but know that your undying devotion to my personage is all that I truly do need." Raising his glass to the two headed man Bonaparte drained the cup swiftly before setting it back atop the bar counter. "Blackmoon, would you kindly top me off good sir. I do so hate to disappoint a fan." Blackmoon raised an eyebrow at the request but seemed to cast a knowing gaze back to Roh'Gau and his suggestion of a stronger drink. With a sigh, the barkeep complied filling up Bonaparte's cup though with contents from a slightly larger more elegant gourd than before. Raising his cup towards Roh'Gau, Bonaparte cheered. "Huzaah! To what die hard fan should I make this toast out to good sir.... sirs?" For Roh'Gau's efforts, all he had immediately managed to do was to draw Bonaparte's attention. The act of which seemed to be actively avoided by a large portion of those present. Before his toast could be complete however, Bonaparte's attention was returned to Garrak as he illuminated Bonaparte's mind to the true details of his quest. In some merciful fashion, Bonaparte nearly seemed to forget Roh'Gau was even there as he turned to face Garrak fully. Sipping from his newly filled cup, Bonaparte nodded astutely at Garrak's ascertainment of Bonaparte's lineage though he raised an objecting finger at the man's switch in subject. "A well read savage you are indeed dear Garrak. I am pleased to see you know not only of my deeds but even of the legends of my blood." Rubbing his free claws together smugly Bonaparte seemed to pat himself on the back. "Though I must humbly state that I cannot confirm nor deny the rumors of my lineage I'd like to think my record of deeds and achievements speak for themselves." At Garrak's change of topic in relation to his people's goddess, Bonaparte paused in his self congratulations and scratched his chin in curiosity. "Hmmm yes. Quite the predicament your people find themselves in. I do believe I've read several scholarly documentations on the subject of the gnoll goddess; although, the most learned sources I have found were the tales told by tribal chieftains and elders." As Garrak continued his explanation ending with his end goal of creating a better afterlife for his kind Bonaparte quaffed another mouthful of the stronger drink before his tail softly thwacked the side of the bar three times in succession. "Such a noble and lofty quest you set yourself upon Garrak. I salute your drive and motivation most certainly, but have you considered perhaps that journeying into the Abyss itself and slaying your goddess outright to claim her divinity as your own might slay two dragons with one arrow as it were?"  At the casual mention of slaying a god, a few of the less experienced patrons nearly choked on their ale while several others rolled their eyes. Seemingly pleased with his own analysis, Bonaparte held his head back slightly and an ever so subtle sway could be seen in his body due to the alcohol. "A notion I have entertained myself in times past; but as I've already mentioned, divinity at the cost of required worship does not suite me."
  10. Spent about 3 hours last night trying to figure out how to properly do a floatleft/floatright for my image. Kept getting the font awkwardly typing in the center and then jumping to below the image after one sentence. Finally managed to get the text to appear to the immediate right of the image; however, I could not for the life of me figure out how to add a tiny margin space between the image and the text. Currently my post text hugs my image and as someone who likes nice clean formatting it drives me nuts.
  11. Bonaparte T. Rasque - "Le Commandant" Bonaparte's smile widened at Garrak's acknowledgement of having heard of Bonaparte prior. A smug self satisfaction poured off the well dressed reptilian as the gnoll continued on about his own attempts at immortalizing himself in the world. "Aha but you have heard of me. Such are my exploits legendary!" With little fanfare and an obvious look of exasperated disdain on his face, Blackmoore slid a full mug of liquid towards Bonaparte but said nothing. Apparently Roger was not the only one who wished to engage with Bonaparte as infrequently as possible. "A dracolich you say? Quite the tricky ones they are. Always believing themselves invincible. The trick you see is to let others distract the beast while you secure and destroy their phylacteries. Work smarter not harder my good sir. A philosophy I'm certain even a tribal leader such as yourself could appreciate." Taking a soft sip of his drink, Bonaparte had not even seemingly acknowledge the negative reviews he had heard of the Tarrasqueborn. "Divinity eh? A worthwhile pursuit to be sure, but one in which I've found lacking. Gods are more often than not forgotten and how sad an existence to remain detached from the mortal realms reliant on worship to sustain ones own power." Shaking his head, Bonaparte took another dignified sip of his drink before tapping his head with one claw. "Think good sir. Would you not prefer to attain such lofty power without the need for worshippers?" As Bonaparte basked in his own arrogant wisdom, the man seemed to recognize a familiar armor sitting quietly afar. "Aha! Yaronvael is that you?!" Smacking the bar top with his free hand softly in excitement, Bonaparte rose and directed Garrack's gaze towards the imposingly armored warrior. "Yaronvael over there is a perfect example of a warrior who relies on his own ingenuity to rise to the occasion. Why... under my command I've seen Yaronvael fell elder drakes in a single well placed blow. Will you be joining me once more good friend?!" As if in toast, Bonaparte raised his cup to the armored warrior before taking another sip.
  12. Bonaparte T. Rasque - "Le Commandant" The steady echo of boots upon the stone floor of the hall signaled the arrival of yet another guild member. Most of the less attentive folk paid it no mind while a small few with keener senses and memories suddenly grew ever so slightly apprehensive. It couldn't be him could it? He had been sent off on some insane quest to flush out a group of dire yeti cultist hell bent on reviving their ancient god from the Isle of the Forgotten. If the pace and weight behind the steps did not give it away then the occasional thumb of something large and thick against the stone floor most certainly did. Several patrons set down their drinks and eyed the entrance to the ale hall hoping against hope their day would not be spoiled by that man's arrival. As if conjured forth from the fears of those who knew of him a man appeared in the open doorway to the bar; and yet, this was a something more than a man... this was someone greater! Basking in the subtle light of the ale hall stood a tall6'3" technically so shorter than some of our more beefier PCs. reptilian figure bearing an intricately pressed naval military uniform fitted for his unusual figure. Clawed hands, spines up his back, and two jutting horns protruding from his forehead marked him as far from ordinary. His gaze swept the hall seeming expecting all present to stand and applaud his proud appearance; but then again, many lesser men would be caught in utter awe at the sight of Bonaparte T. Rasque in the flesh! "Greetings fellow guild associates! No need to stand I can feel your admirations from here." A few of the newer guild mates gawked in awe at the apparent half dragon before their more experienced companions whispered something in their ears. "You can all rest easy for I have returned from my epic crusade against the vile Demonfrost Yeti clans of the north. Their frozen god shall not lay one finger upon our fine realm so long as I, Bonaparte T. Rasque have anything to say of it!" As he spoke, Bonaparte gestured grandly with one hand while the other remained casually slipped into the seams between the buttons of his vest. "But there can be not but brief respite for one so great and I have been summoned once more by our most wise leader. No doubt a threat over whose victory my praises shall be sung for generations to come!" With his proclamation given, Bonaparte began to make his way to the bar. As he did, one younger lodge member whose left arm currently hung in a sling around his shoulder rose and did his best to hastily attempt an exit. His movement however was not unnoticed and before he could make it half way to the exit Bonaparte spared the man a knowing glance. "Ahhh Rodger! I see you are still recovering from our last venture into the nematode leech infested swamps to the far south east. Have you once again desired to share a place by my side in glorious battle?" The man seemed frozen in place as though he was afraid speaking would make things better or worse. "But why wouldn't you friend?! Hah, after I so effortlessly led us right to the heart of that bog hags lair and slew her in single combat this latest threat of beholders shall be child's play!" The apprehension in the man's eyes turned to indignation as he spat at the floor. "You pompous buffoon! You had us march half a day THROUGH the swamp instead of through safer paths around it. And the hag?! Half of us were cursed, bleeding, and covered in leeches while you stood back barking orders oh so casually. The hag was already on the floor dying when you SWOOPED in and killed her." For his part, Bonaparte seemed not even phased by the man's accusations and began to retort before Rodger cut him off. "NO! NO! I don't want to hear another word or excuse from you about how it was all part of your master plan." Moving again, Rodger swiftly turned the corner to exit the ale hall as his good hand displayed a particularly rude gesture towards Bonaparte. "I'll take the damn leeches any day over HIM!" With those words still echoing with Rodger's departure, Bonaparte let out a hearty chuckle while tasking a seat at the bar near a beastial looking gnoll holding up a chalice fit for a king. "Poor Rodger, a man so humbled by my genius that he still refuses to let me heal his wounds. No doubt he wishes the scars to be a badge of pride from his time served under me. Ahhh Blackmoon my good barkeep, I'll have whatever this primitive looking gentleman beside me is partaking of."  With a friendly nod and smile Bonaparte singled out the much larger gnollGarrak as the "primitive gentleman" before seemingly dismissing Blackmoon altogether as he found a new open mindedpoor soul to introduce himself to. "Greetings hunter! You have the honor of addressing Bonaparte T. Rasque, yes, the Commandant himself as I'm sure my legend has spread across the guild."

  19. Bonaparte T. Rasque "Le Commandant Magnifique"   “Rejoice men! My brilliance has seen us through yet another perilous battle!”   Commander (Braveheart) Skald (Skaldic Poet)   PRIMARY ROLE Company BattlemasterAKA: Party Buffing Heavy use of Gladiator and Warleader sphere talents. Also combines various teamwork, squadron, and passive buffs for nearby allies.   SECONDARY ROLE Esteemed DiplomatAKA: Party Face and Knowledge Junkie High social skills and knowledge checks.   RACE: Tarrasqueborn AGE: 36 GENDER: Male   Appearance The Regal Majesty of Le Commandant Magnifique Bonaparte strikes a regal and imposing figure with his full height measuring close to six foot three inches. At a glance one might mistake Bonaparte for a half dragon due to his scaled skin, numerous spines, thick tail, and two dominant horns atop his skull. The truth may be something a little more complicated although with his broad shoulders, maw of sharp teeth, and piercing amber gaze it is a mistake all too easy to make. Weighing in at close to two hundred and forty pounds, Bonaparte prefers to exemplify the superiority of his blood via his personal appearance as opposed to his martial might. Bonaparte always dresses to impress but prefers the stylish military uniforms often attributed to maritime naval commanders. Rich colors of fine silks adorn his flesh in perfectly tailored proportions with even proper holes for his tail and spines. His scaled are almost always glistening in the light from the perfumed oils Bonaparte regularly applies to himself. His claws are manicured, his fangs spotless, and his horns polished to a pristine gleam. Always walking with his shoulders back and back straight, Bonaparte exemplifies civility and regality at all times. Never does the reptilian appear hurried or rushed and he speaks with a deep baritone that focuses clearly on the emotion and pronunciation behind each word.   Personality The Mind Behind the Legend The exemplary specimen of civility, charm, and cunning. These are traits Bonaparte himself would use to describe himself. The reality however is far from it however. Bonaparte is first and foremost an unapologetic narcissist. He views himself both by blood and abilities to be above the common rabble of the world. This superiority complex is only exacerbated whenever Bonaparte believes his own efforts have directly led to the success or failure of those around him. Even when all obvious signs would otherwise point to Bonaparte failing or being unable to achieve some task, Bonaparte's psyche easily excuse the failing as simply being a matter of Bonaparte not putting his full effort into the task, or worse yet, the failings of other lesser folk. The level to which these excuses can reach can and often do borderline on self delusion, but no amount of thoughtful explanation could convince Bonaparte otherwise. (Though many MANY have tried.) In tandem with his narcissistic ego, Bonaparte regularly displays active signs of machiavellian thought. The world is his personal entertainment and his one calling is to spread the glory of his person and deeds throughout its realms. This leads Bonaparte to actively seek out opportunities to attain power or reputation even if said gains were the works of others. You can be certain Bonaparte will attempt to attach himself to any venture he deems has the potential to raise his own personal station higher. Thankfully, Bonaparte does possess a strange semblance of honor and finds using less undignified acts of immorality to attain his goals beneath him. This tends to balance his actions towards a more beneficial outcome for those around him; however, this code does little to prevent others from viewing Bonaparte as nothing more than a narcissistic egomaniac. Having spent his early life in relatively poor conditions, Bonaparte understands that all people have the potential to better themselves. He himself constantly strives for perfection and innovation, but he recognizes not everyone is possessed of the same drive as himself. To this end, Bonaparte views himself as a role model for lesser folk and that by aiding such folk both his reputation and network of skilled individuals will increase accordingly. Those that continue to fail merely need more time to reach Bonaparte's level while those who flat out reject Bonaparte are folk who need time and maturation to truly appreciate the wisdom Bonaparte brings to bear. This mentality, and delusions, make Bonaparte a surprisingly patient and understanding person even to the most extreme of cases. If one can look past the man's ego one might actually find a good listener.   Backstory Early Life Prior to Monster Hunting An abandoned orphan to the streets of the desert city known as Mar'Zhaladul, Bonaparte was taken in by a group of other street urchins for his unusual appearance. Indeed his heritage proved a useful trait for even at a young age Bonaparte was able to aid his adopted family in a scrap. Often times Bonaparte would find himself drawn to using unorthodox tactics to overcome physical threats which earned him the admiration and respect of his fellow urchins. This sense of pride and gratification took root in Bonaparte's psyche and as he grew he began to crave the admiration. In time, this desire made Bonaparte arrogant causing many of his former family to despise him for looking down on them. The tension eventually boiled over when Bonaparte's family abandoned him to the local guards after a botched food raid. The trauma of abandonment was subverted and twisted by Bonaparte's psyche and he instead came to believe that his family had merely thought him more than a match for the guards. Unfortunately for Bonaparte, his martial skill and quick wit were not enough to prevent his capture and subsequently being sold into slavery. Where most would have found the act of being sold into slavery a blatant demonstration of ones own powerlessness, Bonaparte took the change in his life as a challenge and learning experience. At his own auction Bonaparte actively sought to increase his own value by undermining the slave masters, an act which earned him a swift beating. When even after such harsh treatment Bonaparte rose again and boldly proclaimed that he would earn whoever purchased him one hundred times his price within ten years on the condition that he be freed afterwards the crowd burst into a mixture of guffaws and laughter. One man among the crowd was not laughing however and shortly thereafter Bonaparte found himself in the service of an aged general named Chancy Lassiter.   Bonparte's life under Chancy Lasssiter began as most slaves would, hard labor. Each day however once Bonaparte had finished his work, Chancy would take him aside and teach him one game of skill. Each day after, Chancy would play against Bonaparte until Bonaparte managed to beat the man. When he did, Chancy would teach Bonaparte a new game. This cycle slowly evolved with games turning into a fundamental education and eventually to military training. Bonaparte drank in the opportunities eager to prove himself. When he had earned enough favor with Chancy to be allowed some free roam, Bonaparte began to aid the advisors whenever they were sent to purchase food and goods from the local markets. Between his intimidating appearance and surprisingly devilish tongue Bonaparte took a shine to negotiations. The years past swiftly and before long Bonaparte had all but forgotten his promise. So engrossed was Bonaparte in the intrigues of the master's social circles and the challenges put forth by Chancy that he found himself in fact enjoying his time as a slave. By the end of his tenth year Bonaparte had risen to become a trusted advisor to Chancy and despite his rank as a slave, Bonaparte lived life more akin to a well treated hired help. When his nightly ritual with Chancy began, Chancy revealed to Bonaparte a massive ledger tome which detailed every instance Bonaparte had given monetary value back to Chancy. Bonaparte marveled at the level of detail in the ledger with even the most minute details having been meticulously documented. Years of his life flashed before Bonaparte's mind as he flipped through the pages of the tome. By the time he finished, Bonaparte realized he had far exceeded his original promise of one hundred times his purchase price. True to the spirit of the deal, Chancy Lassiter granted Bonaparte his freedom. The act of which surprised Bonaparte less for its benevolence and more for the realization that Bonaparte could now go anywhere he desired. Bidding farewell to his former master, Bonaparte set out satisfied that he had not only kept his promise but that he had excelled through trials and adversity along the way. What Led to Joining the Hunter's Lodge Upon his release into the world once more, Bonaparte found it both fascinating and slightly disappointing. While his reputation and skills within his former household had spread far into the neighboring towns, his name and skills meant nothing outside of them. Bonaparte needed a method to spread his reputation far behind the confines of his previous slave life. It was one day while sipping a mug of ale in a tavern that Bonaparte concocted an idea after listening to the bard sing of adventurer's slaying vile beasts. If adventurer's could have songs sung of their great deeds than why could not Bonaparte? To that end, Bonaparte resolved to become the greatest adventurer the world had ever seen, unlike any who had come before. Desires and reality are often conflicting to some measure of extreme degree. This Bonaparte quickly began to learn as he set out on a his grand scheme to become an adventurer. His skills  had certainly improved from his youth but as he pitted himself against monsters of the wilds Bonaparte found himself set back time and time again. Clearly there was more Bonaparte had not yet learned. As if to add insult to injury, each time Bonaparte did manage to achieve some feat he believed deserving of renown he would be overshadowed by groups of adventurer's overcoming far greater obstacles. Of course, given time, Bonaparte knew he could likely achieve such feats but for the present Bonaparte recognized the benefit for him to work in a group. His attempts to do just that continued to end in abject failure however for nobody quite seemed to understand Bonaparte's cunning or skill. They always just seemed to complain about him being self centered and arrogant. Clearly such adventurers did not know genius when they saw it and despite his best efforts, Bonaparte made little headway in his goal to be seen as a famous adventurer.   At a crossroads yet again, Bonaparte realized he had been thinking too small. He needed to chase after the bigger prizes in order to reap the biggest rewards. In time, Bonaparte learned of the Hunter's Lodge and its world wide reknown. Such an organization seemed the perfect fit for Bonaparte to not only impart his expert wisdom but to also boost his reputation to new heights. With that in mind, Bonaparte set out to join the Hunter's Lodge. Monster Hunter Extraordinaire Bonaparte's early years at the Hunter's Lodge were rough by anyone but Bonaparte's view. Bonaparte struggled to reveal his genius to his fellow hunters and many refused to work with him. Bonaparte knew these nay sayers could be brought to see the light but it would simply take time and effort. Fortunately for Bonaparte, guild rules required teams for most hunting jobs and as such many an unfortunately soul was stuck working with Bonaparte. These forced groupings were certainly eye opening experiences for Bonaparte who quickly realized that there was far more he needed to learn in order to accomplish his goals. In keeping with this, Bonaparte offered his cooperation and talents to compliment his fellow hunters. Over time, these efforts bore fruit by honing Bonaparte's skills and, more importantly, revealing to other hunter's that Bonaparte was not just a pompous egotist. One event in particular that had a defining effect on Bonaparte was the Battle of Blood Troll Gulch. During that particular hunt, Bonaparte and his team had been sent to root out a band of blood trolls that had been terrorizing a nearby town. The hunt was grueling and for weeks Bonaparte and his team were hit with guerrilla tactics by the blood trolls. Being unable to pin down their targets, Bonaparte and his team were forced to seek refuge and recover in the nearby town. It was during this time in town that Bonaparte began to develop relations with the townsfolk, though particularly the children. Unlike the adults, the children were eager to talk to the "dragon man" and loved hearing of his might deeds. Bonaparte relished the attention and grew fond of the towns children. So it was that when the blood trolls led a full on assault upon the town that Bonaparte fought tooth and nail with his team to fend off the assault. As the dust of the battle settled, Bonaparte and his team were victorious and the townsfolk praised them. Upon their departure, the children of the town surrounding Bonaparte with farewells with several promising to one day become great adventurers just like Bonaparte. Hearing this caused Bonaparte's ego and heart to swell with pride. He realized that while seeking his own fame, he could inspire legions of others to do the same. The notion gave Bonaparte a sense of grander agency in the world then he had ever known. As his tenure with the Hunter's Lodge grew more seasoned, Bonaparte become more tolerable within the more seasoned ranks of the guild. New members were often still rankled by the man's seeming arrogance, but none could deny that any taken under Bonaparte's wing would thrive in the field. Admittedly, with his growing experience so too did Bonaparte's ego grew. The wealth and prestige of the guild afforded him the ability to live more akin to a noble than any commoner. Fine clothes, good food, music, and even a nice cigar every once and awhile were all luxuries Bonaparte considered perks of his rising stardom. He styled himself as a self made adventurer and eventually gave himself the nickname of "Commandant". Along with generous patronage to various orphanages, libraries, and other institution for the people the nickname stuck and tales of the "Commandant's" adventurer's became well known tavern tales.
