Benny Baxter
Backstory - Benny lived a pretty normal life until his 13th birthday, when his mutant power began to manifest. He started emitting a field of energy, which he discovered he could use to change the properties of his body on a molecular level. After a brief panic when he temporarily turned himself into puddle, his parents urged him to experiment with his new power more carefully. Over the next few months, he found various applications for his energy field, such as disguising himself, increasing his speed, creating temporary pockets on his body, and accelerating his natural healing. Eventually, he even learned how to bend light and vibrate air in his vicinity, creating images and sound. He decided the best way to explore his powers further was to put them to the test as a hero.
Personality - Benny is kind but soft-spoken when not in his hero identity. He loves comics and cartoons, which were the inspiration for his heroic persona: A noble, yet wacky cartoon character in the real world! As Toonman, he acts more brave and outspoken, and has a tendency towards pulling harmless pranks on his fellow heroes.
Appearance - For a 16-year-old, Benny is somewhat short and slight. Shaggy black hair covers his dull brown eyes, and his baggy clothes hide his deceptively lean muscles. When he morphs into Toonman, he gives himself wild brown hair and wide blue eyes. He also gains a faint glow, popping out from his surroundings like a pencil drawing on a matte painting.
Complications:
Motivation: Doing Good - Benny likes to make people smile, laugh, and forget their troubles...
Motivation: Recognition - ...but he also likes to show off and be the center of attention.
Power Loss - Water can interfere with the Benny's energy field. He can't use any of his powers for one minute after being submerged in water.
Identity - Like everyone else in the Hero Program, Benny has to keep his heroic antics under wraps. His more flashy powers would give him away if he used them in his civilian identity.
