  1. OOC: That's sort of depends on what's out there and what Lillian knows is around town. In general she'd start with hanging around some places she can get some fresh gossip/'word on the street' or ask some potentially helpful acquaintances. Like with your permission I could put together a bar Other Towners like to hang out at. If that's still too formless she could start looking through her DMs again see if there's 'odd' ones or someone she might be able to shake more info out of.
  2. Waking Lillian reviewed the messages as she cycled through her morning stretches and fried a few eggs for breakfast. If Madam Hex had led with this Lillian could see herself agreeing right away, now though the goaded seemed all a bit too obvious. Still it all merited some kind of response whatever the witch had planned was at the least a sweeping action not just an excuse to get Lillian to run off with her. Time to follow up then. Pulling her 'super' suit out of the dryer after washing it before bed last night Lillian briefly considered it before packing it away with her faceless mask. Bouncing from roof top would save her a lot of time and she'd stand out less doing so if she did so in costume. Still even if Medusa wasn't a popular hero there were watchers who tracked any hero they could and night would be a long time coming. She also couldn't go as Lilian, no need to expose herself further there. Pulling an off white hoodie from her closet alongside her most worn paid of jeans, a blank black ball cap, and a few pairs of her special glasses she hadn't worn in awhile. Without her wig her civilian friends shouldn't recognize her, nor should she show up on hero trackers. A civilian Medusa outfit of sorts. "Civi-dusa maybe?" Lillian mused to herself as she got dressed. Anyways time to start pounding the pavement. See what she could turn up on Madam Hex, what her rite might actually entail, and what that might really mean for some like Lillian.
  3. Last minute application powers activated! Whoever said druids can't be light hearted characters? Not me. Anyways I'm marking this complete, I will throw together a proper MW sheet tonight for he minor details but all the vitals are here. I did have one question on languages, so Kara-Tur has like a jillion languages and hasn't been update in forever. Given 5e's somewhat limited ability to learn them and the nigh certainty of them not coming up (I assume) do you think I could get away with just Common? I have space in the build for 2 but would like kinda like to pick up Sylvan which costs double.
  4. GEAR Magic Item Preference: Broom of Flying*Yes I get it, but for a world traveler there's no better item. Not sure it would even be that great in this context anyways, plus I have Misty Step and other shenanigans. Cloak of Elvenkind Ring of Jumping
  5. CHARACTER INFO Basics: Name: Elyssia Blackwind Race: Half-Elf Age: 43 Alignment: True Neutral Class: Druid, Circle of Wildfire Deity: Mielikki Level: 5 Background: Outlander Statistics: HP: 38 AC: 16 Prof: +3 Init: +2 Abilities: STR 10 DEX 14 CON 14 INT 10 WIS 18 CHA 12 Skills: Insight +7, Medicine +7, Perception +7, Stealth +5, Survival +7, Perform +4 Tools: Herbalism Kit, Lute Languages: Common, Druidic, Elven, [Whatever they speak in Kara-Tur] Feats: Magic Initiate, Fey Touched .... DESCRIPTION Appearance: Half-elven Elyssia strongly favors her human mother in looks but still enjoys the youth of elves despite having seen over forty summers. A somewhat petite woman she is thin and quick but not exactly imposing, with a talent for blending into the background. She wears simple robes of a somewhat novel cut, one she claims is favored in far Kara-Tur where she also acquired the notably exotic markings of the sun, wind, and sky upon her shoulders. While of good make and well cared for most of Elyssia's belongings are worn with time and she discards them easily when they are no longer of use. Her real treasures are more temporary still, the scent of wine lingers around Elyssia and she always seems to have some sweet or delectable treat with her. Personality: Whimsical, indulgent, insightful, self-reliant, and generally pleasant company all around Elyssia drifts through live as a leaf drifts on a breeze. A druid by faith she claims to want for nothing, and indeed seems to mean it at least as far as greater fame or fortune is concerned. While she makes good coin as a healer and adventurer she rarely keeps it for long, preferring to indulge in good wine and good food today for there might be none tomorrow. And those who know her best know she can go a month on nothing but berries and water and be just as chipper on the last day as the first. Trait: I'm always picking things up, absently fiddling with them, and sometimes accidentally breaking them. Ideal: Life is like the seasons, in constant change, and we must change with it. Bond: An injury to the unspoiled wilderness of my home is an injury to me Flaw: I am FAR too enamored of ale, wine, and other intoxicants. ... BACKGROUND A roaming druid, errant healer, part time adventurer, full time drinker, and excellent storyteller Elyssia has traveled the face of Toril for some thirty years now. Alone or with a group, on foot or under sail makes little difference to her, she travels to enjoy nature in all its forms from towering forests and boundless skies to the small life that hides in the shadow of the mightiest cities. For all its scope though hers is a quiet sort of life. Elyssia is no mighty adventuring hero out of legend, though more competent then many she prefers to avoid trouble whenever possible. She does jobs for coin as suits her, but can also go without at need. Yet where does Elyssia hail from originally? The answer is perhaps surprisingly nearby at least to inhabitants of Faerun, for Elyssia was born under the eaves of the High Forest. Occupied by elves since they first came to the Realms it is place of deep history and forest kingdoms long vanished. Yet in the shadows of the forest sententels small elven villages endure sheltered out of sight and out of mind from the wider world around them. Elyssia's father heads such a village in the region of Tall Trees that was once capital of Eaerlann. Over two score years prior he rescued an adventurer known as Isami the Blackwind. A human woman her adventures had brought her all the way from distant Kara-Tur beyond the bounds of Faerun to the east. While Isami was healing she bonded with her savior and in time romance blossomed and Elyssia was born. While her near death experience had cured Isami's wanderlust and taste for adventure the same could not be said of her daughter, who grew up begging her mother for tales of their distant homeland. This worried her father who sent her to the local druids for education hoping she would learn to appreciate the forest around her and keep her feet planted. This plan half worked, Elyssia grew to love and revere nature fiercely but while it tempered her wanderlust with skill and judgement it did nothing to diminish its ardor. Finally when Elyssia was thirteen she declared she was off to see her maternal ancestors and vanished from the High Forest. Eventually word came through the druid circle that she had reached Cormyr and then Rasheman and then nothing. It would be ten years before Elyssia returned home. She'd made it to Kara-Tur of course and filled her small village with tales of it as her mother once had. She would not remain home for long though, for Elyssia discovered her feet began to itch if they stayed in place too long and in her years abroad she'd picked up certain tastes for fine food and drink that ill suited a small elven village. Within six months Elyssia was on the move again. North, south, west, her journeys have taken her away for years at a time, and twenty years later she shows little signs of stopping. Of late Elyssia has recently returned from Maztica for one of her periodic stops home to visit her father and aging mother. Heading south she fell in with a group of her fellow druids heading south to oversee a change of leadership at a small grove along the River Chionthar near the Shadowlands. Having decided to move on to Baldur's Gate and take ship to parts unknown Elyssia was asked to carry a message to a druid believed to have fallen in with some adventurers there. The small matter of a mind flayer invasion that followed before she could leave the city has rather delayed her plans and she has been spending her time working as a healer for the wounded city.
  6. Lillian let out a sigh of relief as Madam Hex vanished, wondering just how bad a new enemy she had made for herself. No not made, she could almost hear Master correcting her. Being prudent and asking questions before agreeing to things was what you were supposed to do. Even if the witch had been completely benign with her intent so powerful a rite should make anyone cautious. Or that's what she hoped Master would say, another part of Lillian worried she'd just passed up a golden opportunity but it was a small on. Munching on her apple until the core was gone left Lillian debated her next steps. Eventually deciding she'd accomplish nothing without a shower and chance to reset Lillian made her way to the bathroom. Then to the kitchen to heat up some leftover Chinese for a meal. Finally she checked her phone. What time even was it now?
  7. So did I break my thread or have I accidentally speedrun it?
  8. Lillian felt her grip tighten on her snack. Memories came flooding back to her, screaming faces and unmoving bodies, the warmth of blood on her hands and a man ranting about how beautiful her power was. Then another voice came in, one telling her to breath, steady and focused. She felt her hand relax, the apple still unharmed but for the bite she'd taken out of it. "Madam Hex, you seem to know quite a lot about me and what you just said reminds me quite a bit of a man named Ezekiel Harpe." Lillian watched carefully for any reaction. "Unfortunately I think I know better then anyone else how much I hold myself back... but have seen enough faces petrified with fear already. I have no wish to immortalize any of them in stone for any reason. So I do not believe I will be able to assist you if there is any chance of bringing that about. If you are able divine the source of current events I will see what I can do to repay you for that information in another way."
  9. "Definitely better to let yourself in," The university campus was as old as the country and had its spooky parts, but not nearly enough to take cover business like this. As for the offer, anyone else might have been one of wide eyed amazement. Her powers drained? Lillian wondered if this vacation deal came with tickets to Miami included. No that was too much to hope for, aside from no tickets. Still any relief from powers she had never sought was a tempting offer. Lillian to took an apple and a bite to chew over the idea before speaking again. "How drained is drained? Or well I'd assume we can't be sure until afterwards but offering information while taking away what I'd need to act on that information poses a bit of a conflict"
  10. The cheap vase clinked lightly against Lillian's purse as she made her way back to the dorms. A souvenir from her waterlogged misadventure the black and orange vase had an ancient Greek look to it for sure, but one only had to tilt it upward to see a decidedly modern 'Made in China' stamped into the ceramics. Still she supposed they had been full of treasure like the tip had said. Well at least that was one less load of heroin in the world, and a group of smugglers that would have to decide between to radioing the Coast Guard or trying to get their overloaded little life rafts to shore with no oars or engines. Either way it should provide a memorable experience for them. Yet still Lillian could not help but feel she had wasted her time, or that her mentor would have figured it out much sooner. And a boat in the ocean could not have been less in her element, no room to maneuver and lots of thugs made for a messy fight. Even if her 'gifts' spared her from the physical drain, the mental drain of an ugly fight after a long wet ride there and back for nothing was just about enough for today. Lillian could still smell the salt in her hair and feel the prickles on her skin as she made her way back to the dorm house. She'd skipped her usual wig rather then get it wet and thus watchful to be sure she got back to her small apartment space unseen. The presence of someone inside had been a shock and Lillian let out a rather unheroic little gasp before dropping instinctively into a combat stance. "Who the hell are you!?" she managed rather lamely before recognizing the voice. Lucinda Hex, a real honest to goddess witch. So it was Othersider business then, well that was a bit reassuring. A witch might curse her to death later, but wasn't going to be so ungracious a guest as to fight Lillian in her own living room or blab her secret identity to the dean lllllll. In theory anyways. As Lucinda spoke Lillian put down her purse and backpack and took off a pair of extra thick sunglasses exchanging them for a light purple silk ribbon, wrapping it around her eyes as she went crossed to the small kitchen and retrieved a bowl of fruit, mostly apples and pears, while the witch spoke. "First Madame Hex my... ahh... apologies for the outburst. I wasn't expecting guests but you are welcome as one. I see you already have a drink but can I offer you any snacks? I think I might have some cheese and crackers around if you'd prefer those" Lillian could practically here her mentor's laughter at her bad attempt at social graces. Still playing the good host went a long way in Other Town, fairies and gods didn't test mere mortals so very often but it was still a possibility. And Lillian couldn't really claim to be simply a mere mortal anymore besides. As to the offer, well now that was interesting. She had read a few scraps about divination, to get knowledge out of nothing required quiet a bit of magical heavy lifting, she could see why it might require such an effort. "Finding the source of the crime wave be great for sure," Lillian said easily, "Still an offer like that has to have a catch yes?"
  11. Whooo Should be done NOW. I made Medusa slower on the spot but added a "move around town" mode, Restrainable is now tied to being able to breath properly. So chokes, called hits, underwater, and maybe some other stuff like sufficiently toxic gas. That and other changes left me enough points to by back a reach attack option AND add the single most powerful superpower of all.
  12. I always calculated the slots with Combat Acceleration this is what the "All" notation is talking about in the Multipowers, they all have the same modifier spread. Though it should have been a 25 point reserve, the math is all equivalent. I do have to change Unified Power though since this is ninja magic weeb shite Medusa learned from her mentor. And just when I was done cooking.
  13. Ugh I was about to say by Zeus we'd cracked it but then I remembered the metal in a "full metal jacket" for bullets is generally some type of copper based material and surviving getting shot is the entire reason I'm heavily invested in Defense. I think 1/2 for Bronze bronze can work. On the other fronts I've turned Evil Eye from 0 END to 2X END power while also shuffling INT to REC and chucking by my Skill Level for +15 END to fuel it. I just need a 1/4 Limit to make it work and had a new thought. I didn't see an option for this anywhere in the book but what about not being able to use Evil Eye below max power? No saving END costs on bottom tier mooks or using a lower setting I know won't get through a PCs defenses.
  14. Oh no I get it now I just didn't read pg 108 enough and misunderstood that first chart there as allowing for say half damage/effect or half protection in X circumstances. If there aren't separate axis of effect though then what I have won't work. I'll ruminate on what points I can shake up, Snaking Hair I can ditch for 15 points since I won't need Ambidextrous there, and if I ditch 0 END and AP from Evil Eye I can make that work with some extra. Not sure Monstrous Resistance yet, probably make that charge END too. Incidentally what would you rate Weak to Bronze as?
