  1. Sorry, had to move a bunch of stuff into storeage last two days, Ill hop in in the morning after a nap
  2. Sorry I went quiet - suddenly had to move a bunch of stuff into storage. Reading the backlog now and will respond in the morning if we are still in Pregame.
  3. The ALPG still hasn't been updated, but there was an announcement back in September about the Bigby Giants book being legal and there are BG feats in there too.
  4. Balthoz, the Brilliant Blaze Hobgoblin FlamesoulDruid 1 Giant Foundling AC: 15 Init: 1 Perception: 16 (Darkvision) "I'm no prophet, sad to say. If I knew what was bringing the troubles, I would be able to do something about them - stop them, avoid them, put them to my use... but I'm just as tossed about by these things as anyone. Maybe moreso." Then, gesturing to the more enlightened discussion nearby, Thoz adds "Maybe one of these religious types has heard something from fate? The elements obscure a lot, but it couldn't hurt to ask." He knew that wasn't the truth for every faith, asking anything of his Gods might just bring their attention to you - never a good thing. But the powers the other races follow had always seemed so soft to him. Surely they would coddle and protect their chosen ones, tell them how to make everything better.
  5. Balthoz, the Brilliant Blaze Hobgoblin FlamesoulDruid 1 Giant Foundling AC: 15 Init: 1 Perception: 16 (Darkvision) Pleasantly surprised by the halfling's delayed notice of his nature, Balthoz took note of why it had been as her attention flitted to the far more unique newcomer - a type of folk he had not heard about let alone encountered. Certainly wasn't expecting this type of crowd before making it to the inn myself either. He listened to people mention various factions, all of which were foreign to him, but sparked interest nonetheless - especially this Sun Soul. He would be interested in following up on that if he and the practitioner ended up traveling the remaining distance together. When others suggested partying up for safety, he resolved to take the chance if it were offered to him. Then the the big man demanded attention. Thoz may have little experience with socializing, but the warrior was an open book and his directness was appreciated. "Big trouble, yeah. Not the kind that needs respect though - nothing to boast about. Kinda trouble you make without knowing it just by being there. What about you? You look like you know more about the good kind of trouble than I do - something worth talking about." Thoz gives a nod to the oversized weapon Sketvid has no issue wrangling even in a crowded room.
  6. Balthoz, the Brilliant Blaze Hobgoblin FlamesoulDruid 1 Giant Foundling AC: 15 Init: 1 Perception: 16 (Darkvision) hoz didn't really know why he had shown this woman his scaring. The term 'olive branch' was foreign to him, but the thought that indulging her curiosity might be helpful in the long run. Someone so personable taking an interest in him would keep detractors from getting too aggressive. "It is not an imitation or adaptation. It marks me as something cast off... something that sometimes precedes calamity." he chuckles to himself. OoC I just improvised the rune since it's a niche concept and probably doesn't have a magical aspect to it. Sorry for the short response - posting from my phone
  7. Balthoz, the Brilliant Blaze Hobgoblin FlamesoulDruid 1 Giant Foundling AC: 15 Init: 1 Perception: 16 (Darkvision) Narrowing his eyes, the hobgoblin can't help but grin at Sassamona, he could see how his attempt at warning her off could be taken wrongly. He had had the superiority of his father's people instilled in him his whole life - the Ordning didn't have much to say about the various small folk, but it was clear enough. "Suppose you're right. Common isn't common where I'm from - we have separate words for hunting and 'hunting'. As for my reasons for heading that way, not so different than the rest of this lot. Information, opportunity and ... what's the word? Adventure?" Looking to Lidda. Thoz shakes his head and shrugs. "I know what it looks like, but I've had less experience with goblinkind than you might think. Once is enough though to know they are the lowest of a low bunch. You can scrape their honor off your boot with a stick." Reaching into his coinpurse and thumbing through his dwindling funds, he leaves the tip for his meal and takes the last good meat chunk, tearing into it behind a shielding hand for courtesy sake, then turns his chair around to join their table. He rolls back a sleeve and presents an old burnscar to Ms. Hilltopple - it is intricate and angular, suggesting ritualistic application. "You know something about runecraft?" Giantrune "Threm"A dangerous cast of ember from a forge that stays hot and can cause a chaotic fire.

  9. I have Proficiency, but neither good Dex or Int which are the most common abilities they pair with - so if you pick it up I'll be able to give the Help action but your roll would be better than mine
  10. Balthoz, the Brilliant Blaze Hobgoblin FlamesoulDruid 1 Giant Foundling AC: 15 Init: 1 Perception: 16 (Darkvision) Having been quietly focused on eating while keeping his hood in place up to this point, Balthoz jerked his head when Sassamona called for someone with bear fur. His attention had been captured before he realized the comment wasn't about him - Thoz hadn't spent much time in human society, but enough to have suffered insults about his animalistic appearance more than once, and he was not one to stand for insults. The tension that had raised his hackles was unwarranted this time though - at least for now. Regarding the speaker and those involved with her line of questioning, he huffed and tried to keep his lips close as he smiled amusedly. "You don't 'hunt' giants. For one, they aren't animals to stuff and prop up in a lodge... and for another, they aren't exactly hard to find when they're around." Looking to the other, more bookish woman *(Lydda), Thoz gave an appreciative nod. "You got a bit more respect I see, that's good. As far as goblins - I wouldn't trust a one of them if they did cut a deal. Could be fun to watch you try though, and yeah... I'm heading to Nightstone. Name's Balthoz." Keeping his cloak raised, he knew the big man next to him wouldn't miss his own goblinoid features, but Thoz wasn't eager to draw attention to them.
  11. Yup - one anything as usual and one limited to the Background/Setting options list
  12. I'd like in, going to completely redesign Maltrise in light of the newly available stuff for the season. Ill have her new sheet up tomorrow or the day after if I get sidetracked.
  13. Balthoz, the Brilliant Blaze Hobgoblin Druid "I ought to hand it to you..." Thoz chuckled darkly "It's been taking a lot to get my blood boiling lately, but you seem to have found the cure" | ‘Who knows how long it will be till the next time, I better enjoy this’ the hobgoblin mused to himself. . . . Slamming the head of his warclub in his hand - sending a surge of igneous strength through the wood and leaving a ball of crackling flame in his open palm - Balthoz readied himself for battle. Mechanics/OoC Bonus Action - Shillelagh. Action - Produce Flame. To Whom It May Concern . . . Put Player mention tags, and any particular notes in here.
  14. Balancing the survival aspect aside, the Static 10 hp already has a balancing factor when compared to Cure Wounds in the action economy each has. It is an action taken by the eater to gain 1hp. Cure wounds is an action by the caster to get enough on average to take another moderate hit after and still be up. Out of combat, the balance is in GBs favor for sure - but even though many DMs allow others to feed the berries to downed allies, that's a house rule (The revelant parts of the spell description being "A creature can use its action" and "to eat one berry" - emphasis mine).
  15. Yeah, there's always a give and take. Good to look for those opportunities to edge up over 100 percent. Personally, I enjoy looking for things that are quirky/neeto so long as they aren't pulled down to the point of being a detriment.
  16. Another favorite multiclass wildshape trick is turning into something tiny and innocuous to deliver an attack that deals any type of bonus damage that doesn't care about the original attacks size (such as delivering a Way of Mercy Monks Hand of Harm with a flea bite)
  17. About the Rune Knight thing? Yeah, If you find a form that you like but isn't already large or larger, you could for example - Cast a concentration spell, Action Surge to cast a static duration spell (usually personal protection rather than crowd control since you are about to wade into melee), Wildshape as your bonus action. Next Round Start with the bonus Action Giant's Might (increasing your size to large and giving you access to extra damage each turn) Which unlike a Raging Druid/Barb still allows concentration, Then hit with whatever attack your new form gives you + activate Fire Rune to deal extra Fire damage and restrain the target. Its a pretty intimidating opening salvo, without being broken by any means
  18. Yup - From "Casting time" in the PhB -- "A spell cast with a bonus action is especially swift. You must use a bonus action on your turn to cast the spell, provided that you haven’t already taken a bonus action this turn. You can’t cast another spell during the same turn, except for a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action." Action surge has nothing to do with bonus actions Its not for every caster, But you can still hit 9th level spells with the two level dip and being able to do any two things right off the bat can swing a fight pretty hard in the first round. If you are worried about concentration, there are a few things that seem like they should be concentration but just have static durations (Blink being one of my favorites). And in the case of Wildshape, getting to go large and do fun stuff like the Fire Rune's restrain ability in animal form is nifty
  19. The limit only applies if you cast a spell as a bonus action. If you get an additional action, you are free to cast another leveled spell
  20. Ready for review - Ill have the Header made in an hour or so, and Ill keep adding stuff until game start but the bones are all there
  21. Its a good change, they also have stopped using "Tribal" in favor of "Kindred" when discussing MTG deck archetypes for the same reason. Thinking about the earlier wildshape stuff - You could MC Rune Knight, and since you keep class abilities other than casting, go large after shapeshifting that way. Fighter is a good dip for casters anyway *cough*Action Surge*cough*
  22. Sorry to bother again, but in the application - what type of info should be written under Origin as opposed to Backstory? While not synonyms, my mind is a bit hazy on the separation of concepts.
