  1. Also, it was driving me nuts enough to send me to google, where I learned Fleetwood Mac covered this song, mostly because it really didn't sound like the version I had in my head.

  2. Just finished Elder Race by Adrian Tchaikivsky and dang, I can see why he's one of the hot new recommendations in a lot of threads over the last couple of years. From what people said, I was expecting something different, what I got was just about perfectly tailored for my tastes. Will definitely be hunting down more of his work.

  3. Just be aware that many, many groups consider Wick's advice to be WAY over the top and a fine example of what NOT to do. (Guy considers taking Luck in Champions to be a rules exploit, which is a bit uhm, much). Good starting place though. Just tone it down for the average group.

  4. Oh damn. This is Cast a Deadly Spell, isn't it?  It's been ridiculously hard to find for years, so I've heard of it, but never actually saw it. Apparently it's now on HBO+, which means it will suck away a couple of hours sometime in the next few weeks.

Also, old?  It's only from 91. (Crap, that's probably about the age of the average Weaver).

  5. I do know them, they're on Netflix (not sure if they're Netflix originals or not), saw the ads for Army of the Dead in pretty heavy rotation for a while. I THINK this is Army of Thieves cause it has a plot about some super elaborate safes, but not having watched either movie, I can't be sure.

It does really have a colorized look to it, at least in that pic.

  6. That is of course, because it IS Metropolis

Not my favorite poster, but it's one of the few that points out the pedigrees of the folks involved.

The whole story is apparently a bit crazy, it's not entirely clear if Osamu Tezuka ever actually saw Lang's movie when he made an anime loosely based on it (he later said a single still was the main inspiration) but the anime blends elements of both the manga and the movie to somewhat mixed results. (It also draws heavily on Blade Runner for visual inspiration because of course it does).
