  1. I would imagine that Epicurus could communicate over comms if he so chose?
  2. Eukleides of Athens ST 14 | DX 13 | IQ 13 | HT 14 | Will 15 | Perception 13 FP 14/14 | HP 14/14 | DR 80 (Force Aspis DR 100) | Base Speed 6.75 | Base Move 6 "<There is little to practically differentiate me from this hoplon, at least this far from the forges of Hephaestus, crafty and cunning. Suffice to say, entrusting the task to me will result in it's resolution in one way or another.>" Epicurus replied on Tamzin's datapad. Eukleides chuckled: a deep, resonant sound. "What Epicurus means is that any damage to my hoplon, and myself by extension, sufficient to render him incapable of restraining me would more than likely have already killed us both. Is this an acceptable accord for now? Between Epicurus and myself, we should be able to show you in more detail Hephaestus's craft and find a more permanent method of melding our magics."
  3. Eukleides of Athens ST 14 | DX 13 | IQ 13 | HT 14 | Will 15 | Perception 13 FP 14/14 | HP 14/14 | DR 80 (Force Aspis DR 100) | Base Speed 6.75 | Base Move 6 Eukleides’ widened at the unfamiliar voice, his grey eyes snapping up to start scanning the horizon. Athena had commanded her Epilektoi in a similar way: her clarion voice appearing in their heads through the din of battle. Only once he was able to connect the clear voice in his head with the harsh one from the man in front of him did he nod and look down to the bioroid. "Ah, now this is a familiar magic. I understand." "And I have not yet taken so many blows to the head to not understand as well the words you don't speak." Eukleides said with a grin to Peirce, turning away as, while they didn't speak any words, Gerald and Tamzin's attention focused on each other for the moment. "As the Mayjor, you fear that I may take leave of my senses and begin to fold you into knots once the battlefield is clear of foes more deserving of it. And thus to 'protect the unit', you must be prepared to work your magic against me as well. Well, no matter. Epicurus can surely assist now that you've poured honey into his ear." There was a quick cascade of characters across Tamzin's screen, the Greek alphabet from alpha to omega. It repeated a few times as the human members of the conversation spoke, but once Eukleides offered his implicit permission Epicurus' response scrolled out across the screen. "<A simple enough request. As mighty Eukleides once more seems content to let his muscles do the thinking, I will share with you some of the workings of Haphaestus, crafty and cunning, and how he forged this Hoplon. Now, there are secrets I will not share: Some, because I am foolishly attached to my continued existence and don't wish to make it too easy for you to kill me if you decide to. Others, because there are secrets to the construction of this Hoplon that Hephaestus, crafty and cunning, did not deem to share with even a spirit such as me. For the immediate question, I should be able constrain mighty Eukleides should battle overcome his good reason. Perhaps not completely, for Athena, she who fights in front, did not see the merit in restraining her Epilektoi once they were upon the field and I have yet to have call to attempt it. But where once I shadow mighty Eukleides' limbs, I could instead pull against.>"
  4. Should be accurate now. And while I admit that it wouldn't necessarily be easy for an enemy to use the same disabling tricks that the party comes up with, we are playing Infinite Worlds. We can run into literally anything out there. The reverse bonuses option is the one I like the best if it's good with Arc: solves your worries, makes thematic sense with how the cybersuit is described to work, and it doesn't leave Euklides entirely helpless.
  5. That sheet should have been updated a while ago, but I'm still not used to new mythweavers so I could have uploaded it wrong. Give me a moment.
  6. It is a cybersuit on his sheet, I just got the names mixed up because they're pretty close. And I should have been clearer since I renamed them to be more thematically appropriate for an Ancient Greek: he has a Force Glave and Force Shield as his main weapons (Force Dory and Force Aspis on the sheet), with a Force Blade as a backup (Force Xiphos on the sheet)
  7. The first one sounds like a GM call. I'm not trying to weasel out of being able to go berserk and start employing pankration on other PC's, I just don't actually know if you can 'turn off' or 'freeze' a nanosuit in the way you're suggesting. It doesn't read like that in it's entry for Ultratech, but if it's something that can be done to nanosuits in Arc's take on the rules then I'm fine with that. GURPS is all about tweaking the rules. Maybe something like reversing the ST bonuses would make sense? Something like it can't completely immobilize him on the spot, but dropping him down to an effective ST 4? Partially I'm concerned from the perspective that anything Peirce and Tamzin can do to the suit is something that an enemy could potentially do. I'm less fine with the grenade solution, that feels like an outsized reaction to the potential threat and one that opens up major problems (similar to disabling the suit: if Jack can set off the grenade remotely, so can a hostile hacker). I'm not adverse to it being discussed in character, but even from a purely mechanical perspective I'd rather just remove the disadvantage if that's the only other option.
  8. So partially I'm just writing from Euklides' perspective when I'm being dismissive about it, but partially I'm not entirely sure you can killswitch him on an OOC level. Even turning off the power source of his suit and weapons he's only at Encumbrance 1: he can still brawl and staff fight at that level. I also didn't read Berserk as requiring him to *kill* in a fight, he doesn't have Bloodlust, though I'm willing to concede that I've played that disadvantage wrong for yonks. Wouldn't be the first time. If you're super concerned about it, I can either tweak the self control number up or shop for a different disadvantage (dropping to 15 or less for Self Control would only require me to account for 5 points, I could tweak Berserk to be less likely to trigger and just make him more Overconfident and/or Selfless). Berserk is thematic and has some useful advantages built into the disadvantage, but not a character defining disadvantage. That seems to be the easier fix than shopping for a disadvantage to balance it (though Pacifism Can't Harm Innocents might be a simple solution here now that I stop and think about it).
  9. , how do you want your various technowizardy (more or less figurative depending on character) on Epicurus to play out? I should technically roll on Trickster, unless you don't mind him messing around with your characters a bit. But I don't want to immediately derail the thread with the potential for conflict over what ultimately is just some flavour interactions. I imagine that Epicurus would be more or less fine with Tamzin at the moment since she showed him proper respect, while if you're up for a bit of being picked on by the ancient alien AI Xepter I was thinking of having Gerald's technopathy result in him appearing in a mental recreation of the Labyrinth for a bit before he explains himself to Epicurus. Though that might result in some opposed rolls, I'm not entirely familiar with your character's mechanics.
  10. Hey all, I meant to post more over the holidays, but well, holidays. There's a lot more Florida to drive through than it looks like on the map.
  11. Eukleides of Athens ST 14 | DX 13 | IQ 13 | HT 14 | Will 15 | Perception 13 FP 14/14 | HP 14/14 | DR 80 (Force Aspis DR 100) | Base Speed 6.75 | Base Move 6 Eukleides appeared bemused by Jack’s comment. Once the fight had started, or course you would subdue your opponent, but he was no poenai who would not stop until bloody retribution would be claimed. Beyond that, he was somewhat mystified about what could be ‘turned off’. The magic of the Ark was by turns similar to that the gods and strange, perhaps there was some invocation they knew that would quiet Epicurus and the hoplon. But even without the spirit of his armour and the light of Hephaestus imbuing his dory and apsis, he would still be armed with a stout staff and his hands. But he was still a stranger in a strange land, by two steps now even. It if would put his new commander at his ease the least he could do is make the attempt. As Jack’s seeming second in command advanced with a smile, Eukleides returned it with a nod, flashing a grin prominently missing one of it's canines. "Your Mayjor," Eukleides’ accent made a bit of a hash of the unfamiliar rank. "Has little to fear. I am no peltast, I am a hoplite." He punctuated the statement by thumping the butt of his staff into the dirt. He nodded as another newcomer approached at Jordan's request, taking a precise step to keep himself square with the others. "If the combat should reach the Push then the battle is truly joined. But as I am commanded so I shall obey. You may be similarly disappointed as the philosophers of the Ark, however, if the Mayjor should wish you to cast some enchantment. The spirit of this hoplon is notoriously wily and wilful. And even should it stripped of its' blessings, I still have my fists and feet and a stout length of sure metal." "Epicurus! Awaken and attend this worthy warrior." Eukleides tapped what appeared to be a silver diadem hidden under his curly hair, but its size and position mirrored the bone conduction headphones some of the Ark’s various environmentally sealed suits used. And while the stylization was distinctly ancient Greek, if by way of the Andromeda Galaxy, the suit was relatively light despite it's advanced features. It would be a something of struggle for even for a well built man like him, but simply cutting power wouldn't lock Eukleides in place like with a larger hardsuit. While Tamzin worked on trying to work out the systems of the hoplon, a few bursts of garbled characters interrupted her feed, before it seemed to seize on her translator hack. It quickly asserted itself as she trod on it's domain, for now throwing up a message first in Greek before it found the latin character set to play with. "<Χαιρετίσματα χωματόδρομος. Επεξεργασία αγγλικού κωδικού. Μια στιγμή παρακαλώ. Greetings Mortal, I am Epicurus. It is considered a mild form of blasphemy to intrude on the sanctum of a spirit without invitation, but I am willing to be magnanimous in the service of my master. I will allow myself to be content with an apology and explanation of your goal.>"
  12. Part of it is that he's capped at 10 INT due to running on a Complexity 6 computer. But an extra 100 points would help, I'll rebuild that stat block and see where it gets me.
  13. Since it's kinda relevant to my reply, here's my first crack at a 3 pt (75% of starting points, Almost All The Time) Ally to be the Suit AI. I'm still not entirely sure if I built the AI correctly, so is this broadly right for an AI? I don't think I've actually represented the fact that he's digital, bodiless and bound to the suit, but otherwise I think it's valid. The only real difference would be probably be adding more skills and maybe a big ticket advantage like Altered Time Rate if not having a body is a big enough pile of Disadvantage points.
  14. Thanks man, but I'm at least on the mend. Still got a bad bark, but at least I'm sleeping most of the night again.
  15. Sorry for not posting sooner. Turns out I wasn't over the flu yet, spent most of the past four days in bed.
