  1. I'm sorry to hear that, and I'm sorry if anyone else feels the same way.  I'm going to get some posting done tonight, I can still work around that if everyone else is still interested in continuing.
  2. As Kat maneuvers the car smoothly into the opposing lane, traffic quickly adjusts and you remain just another car in the street, largely unnoticed by the world around you as your practised hand manages to keep from upsetting anyone, or notifying anyone of your intentions.  The car doesn't seem to be in a rush to get anywhere, and the device remains beeping steadily as you remain casually two cars behind your target.  No matter how you look at it, the heavily tinted windows border on mirrored, make it impossible to see inside, though a sharp eye can tell that the SUV has definitely had some work done, though this is a common sight, considering that car ownership, especially one that is being driven in the Combat Zone, means you have to be ready for anything.  This car is something else though, it has been clearly retrofit with some heavy duty armour, though without getting closer, you can't tell if the tires are bulletproof or not.  Still following the vehicle, it turns onto US 16, the major artery that goes around downtown Night City, harbourside.  The suffocating buildings fall behind your car, visible in your mirrors, but the grey sky darkens, and the sound of raindrops grows louder against the metal of the car.  You continue to follow, unnoticed.
  3. Giancarlo nodded as the first of the mercs arrived, she was a bit of a show off, a rockerboy sort it seemed.  Those types always grated on him, no respect for hard work and organization, just prideful and a force of personality and a hell of a lot of luck to get them through.  Still, they could come in handy I  the right circumstances, anyone who couldn't resist showing off certainly managed to make for a good distraction while the rest did their work.  He sipped his coffee slowly as she smiled warmly at him, softening some frayed edges regarding his initial judgement.  It was not fair to make general statements he supposed.     "Makoko I presume?"   The corpo had a brief summary of who he was supposed to meet.  This one met his expectations of someone who went by the handle of 'Magic'.  They may have even shared a moment of conversation, but it seemed the rest of his new hires were arriving.  The first was a put together serious looking woman, and the second, a rather disheveled (to say the least) fan of technology it looked like.  Perhaps Pedro's was not the ideal luncheon for them, he had not accounted for such a diverse and colorful set of resumes to be presented before him, and he did so prefer to keep a low profile.  Instead of drawing further attention to the initiation, he invited this newest arrival to sea themselves in the booth next to the, uh, clown as he acquainted himself with the rest.  Another sip of coffee.   "Well it looks like we have some promising new hires, perhaps you can introduce yourselves?  My client does so prefer to make sure he has a good understanding of who he is working with"
  4. Happy new year everyone, again I thank everyone for their patience over the last month, I've just done one quick post for the Locate and retrieve crew, and about to post I  the other mission now.  I just want to do a quick roll call to see who all is still in on the game, just to make sure I have a full attendance sheet lol.
  5. (I appreciate everyone's patience with this thread over the holiday, and I like the character building, keep that up for sure!) [Kat: as both a nomad and someone with land vehicle skill on roads that are more quiet than usual, you're all good, as for humanity/empathy against other players, they'll reveal what they feel through rp moreso than me forcing an interaction through a roll]   The roads are still quiet, but as the search through the Combat Zone continues, you begin to notice the inhabitants crawling from wherever they made their beds the night before, as people begin to fill in the spaces in the sidewalk as Night City begins to wake.  The roads, littered with detritus, vehicle wrecks, and the occasional body provides Kat with enough distraction to make sure he keeps one eye on the road as you make your way through the morning gloom on your search.  Road after road, alleyway after alleyway pass as the device stays cold and silent in the hands of Rosalie...   Until a small green light begins to blink slowly, at first, it's a slow heartbeat as the device comes to life.  Blinking once every three seconds, warning that whatever device it's charged with tracking is on the outermost range of it's receiver.  As the car moves smoothly down the street, the light begins to blink rapidly, increasing over the seconds until it begins to beep alongside the blinking.  A full minute after the device woke up, it reaches a crescendo as the light stays on and the beeping becomes a full tone.  As a white SUV passes to the left of you, going in the opposite direction, the device increases in pitch for a single moment, before the reversing the order of noise and sound.
  6. You guys are amazing, I love that spirit and I appreciate everyone’s patience with me, I promise I haven;t abandoned anything!  I just think I may have planned poorly planning something so close to Christmas haha, I’ll do a little posting today, get some games ready and get everyone back into it.  I hope everyone is having a happy holiday and keeping healthy with the cold weather
  7. Very sorry about the delay on posting everyone, work has been crazy demanding, I will be getting more posting done soon I promise.
  8. Uh yeah, there was some confusion there, Bison will be joining the other mission, not the Locate and Retrieve, you guys can post without it.  It's also my understanding the car hasn't left the parked position its in yet, I was just giving reference to where you guys are.  As for Lady Koi, are you looking to perceive anything in particular?  Also in the future, please don't edit previous posts to add skill rolls, go ahead and make a new post to do it.
  9. @mattilald Roll basic tech   The streets are mostly quiet, the Combat Zone isn't the kind of place to come alive at 7am in the morning.  You expect that was the reason you were called up to meet at such an ungodly hour, the element of surprise always helps.  There are people walking with their heads down, uninterested in the nomad wheels you are all now all riding in, but you understand it's best not to advertise.  As Mercedes tinkers with the device, it turns on with a couple of beeps, it's a simple machine, about the size of a USB stick, with a small green light on it that beeps and glows once when it boots up, then stays silent, not registering any target nearby.  You're currently facing south, down Castille, there are a few other cars on the road, and the ones that are around don't seem to be in much better condition than the one you're in, but you can't comment about the smell.    OOC:  Anyone at any time can choose to roll a skill to do whatever they choose as long as they can give justification as to why that skill would be the one that works, like Local Expert if the character grew up in the Combat Zone or something.
  10. Go for it, I didn't notice when I read over, so my apologies

  14. Time: 1:19PM Weather: 23*, Smog Alert, Light precipitation   Pedro's was always full of corpos at this time of day, and Giancarlo fit right into the crowd with his sharp pressed white suit, complete with rich red dress shirt underneath, with a matching belt and shoes as well.  His hair was kept short, professional like, and his glowing red Kiroshis scanned the place for familiar agents.  None of his mercs had arrived yet, but this was okay, he was enjoying his coffee.  Pedro's was famous for their coffee, and now he understood why, perhaps he would have to get the Don to see if there was anything he could give Pedro a hand with.  One hand on the handle of the mug, with the other pressed against the warm ceramic, he listened to the bustling noise of the cafe.  The corpo crowd down here were the younger crowd, with more bravado than experience, but that bravado made them talk, and simply by being surrounded by them, he had the opportunity to learn a thing or two from them, maybe something he could use going forward, after all, the Don was always interested in learning new things, he took his education quite seriously.  The cafe itself was quite modern, Pedro must have known his corpo crowd wouldn't have enjoyed the rustic look, or out of date look most cafes offered, so they had gone with white walls, multiple TVs above the bar itself that ran the news constantly, which you could channel your agent to log into, or simply read the subtitles if you weren't lazy.  The furniture was simple, black chairs with black metal tables with white plastic tops, making the whole place feel kind of like a strange chessboard in the opinion of the Don's man, but as long as the corpos found it comforting, he supposed Pedro knew what he was doing.    He had come early, as he always did, enjoying taking in the environment of his workplace.  Being in a rush was not his style, but he was soon to meet the people who had been hired, shortly after most of thse suits went and tucked themselves back into their offices to get back to work with whatever they did.  Coming early had been a boon on this one, by the looks of it, this office was never quiet, they would have some interesting espionage shit to pull off.    @druid91@Gris@TheDragonOfFlame

  16. When it rains it pours, the group arrived within a few minutes of each other, for which the priest was thankful, he didn't want to have to explain himself more than once.  When the Lawman rolled up, he felt his trigger finger itch for a moment, old habits die hard.  The man was something right out of a film noire, not that he had ever watched any, but he'd seen the BD ads for those shitty old movies.  Hat pulled down a bit low, collar up on his coat, and a face that belonged last century.  After raising his lighter for the man to use, he took another puff on his deathstick before answering, letting the smoke rise from his mouth as he spoke.    "Yeah, I know him, you one of our new hires?  Delivery drivers ain't cheap these days"   Before any further conversation could be made, another one showed up, and again, those old habits died hard as he initially copped her for a corpo, but if memories served correctly, she was a media, pretty new to the scene, probably with the same suicidal attitude all medias seemed to possess, but made even worse with that new kid on the block energy, with something to prove.  He adjusted his sunglasses on his face, he didn't need to be part of any exposés.  He nodded as yet another member of the party arrived, looking less than impressed by the whole scenario, but definitely equipped.  The sound of a rumbling nomad car could never be missed, and he assumed, as the rumbling engine grew louder, that the last member of the team had arrived.  To say he pulled up was a generous description of his veering out of the alleyway and onto the curb, but he pulled up behind the black SUV that the priest had arrived in, and through the open window, asked basically the same thing everyone else did.  Yeah, he was here with the Pastor.     "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm the guy, you're my delivery drivers, that's good, you got a car, you might need it, no need to get in the car, this won't take long"   His eyes scanned the group, the one who looked most tech savvy was the media, so he fished a small device from his pocket and held it out to her.   "We don't exactly know where this thing is, but we have a short range GPS tracker we normally use to locate dead drops, it works in a range of about 250 meters, it'll ping when you're in range, and get faster as you get closer.  Someone told me you could probably increase the range, but I haven't had to.  The package was taken from the back of the truck, so you're probably on the lookout for some scavs or something, but I don't have any info.  As far as we can tell, we ain't got any intel on it leaving South NC or turning up at any of the usual spots where these scavs sell their shit, so if we're lucky, it's still here.  You know the rules, don't open it once you find it, and try not to kill anyone, personally, I don't give a shit if you zero some scav assholes, but the Pastor likes to keep his hands clean"   With one last drag of the cigarette, he tossed the butt on the street and got in his car, igniting the engine and driving off.
  17. If you guys decide you want to have known each other in your backgrounds, sure, but otherwise you'll meet IC through the missions.  Sorry I've been a bit quieter over the weekend, it was kind of busy.  I've invited (I believe) everyone to the game, so from here on in, once the character sheets are done, and everyone is ready, we'll get things going.  The way I want this to work, is for everyone to get a couple missions under their belts, and to establish themselves in Night City in whichever way they choose.  As you work with Fixers, you'll gain reputation with them as you work, depending on how you act with them.  Also to promote some more RP for you guys and for you to make some money and gain street cred, I'll post some missions in the Job board you guys can RP out yourselves, there'll be a post requirement or word count, and you guys will just do some RP among yourselves if you so choose, then I'll hash out rewards according to the thread.  I've said before, I'm not too controlling as a GM, I want to make sure everyone has fun, so please, if anyone has any suggestions or requests, pm them to me and we'll work together on something.  The bigger your rep in Night City, the more freedom you'll have. I'll start posting a bit more reliably soon, I appreciate everyones patience over the last month while things get put in place, but I'm excited to get started.
  18. It's a broadcast message put to mercs, it would be on an individual message  not a group chat
  19. Time: 6:03AM Weather: 16*, overcast, slight westerly winds, no precipitation   Cigarette smoke filled his lungs as he lounged, back pressed against the cool steel of the car behind him.  His sunglasses protected his eyes from the burgeoning sunlight that was beginning to peak between the towering buildings before him, but that did not stop the headache from slowly building.  He mentally cursed the Pastor for having him get up this early, or at least not warning him that he would be doing this, so he could have skipped out on some festivities last night, and wouldn't feel like he just got a new brain implant this morning.  Castille and Herald was a safer spot than most in South Night City, if only because it was exposed and most of the gangoons in the area did not want to be caught out in the open if they started shit.  The area was still poor and dangerous though, and he had to be aware of that, but that was why he made sure to bring his iron, regardless of how the Pastor felt about that.  At this time in the morning, most of the people who were out and about were generally harmless, the gangers were still sleeping off hangovers, and the homeless were still tucked into their corners of the street, trying to avoid being awake, and thus the suffering.  The people who occupied this hour of the day were just trying to get by, whether or not they were refugees from the nuclear holocaust, pushed here due to not having anywhere else to go, or they were here before hand and had always roughed it.  Another puff of smoke left his lungs as he exhaled.  He was sympathetic for their plight, he truly was, after all, his faith taught him everyone should be kind to one another, but that kindness could only stretch so far, especially in a hell hole like Night City.  These people had to help themselves first, he could not help them.     Where were these fucking mercs?  He wanted to get this shit done and head home so he could crawl back beneath the sheets and ignore the world like most of the residents of the city right now.  He ran a metal hand through his short blonde hair before scratching the back of his head and yawning, letting the remnants of his last drag fill, then escape his lungs.  Tossing the cigarette to the street, he put his 'ganic hand into the pockets of his red leather pants, and used his metallic hand to smoothe out the creases of his leopard print jacket which was worn over a loose fitting black tank-top.  He looked pretty incognito this morning considering all things.  The Pastor liked making sure his men looked respectable and ready for church, but he had taken the initiative this morning to make sure he did not stand out among the rest of the goons that would be around here, he just looked like some fool who stayed out way too late after the club last night, just as planned.    @Cirlot@Drifter One@Grendel@mattilald

  21. Sure, do you want to post your header at the bottom of your character sheet and attach the image to the post, I'll help you fix the coding.
  22. I'm not gonna lie guys, I'm not the kind of DM that runs things super close to the numbers.  Ideally we don't do everything by the numbers, and for the most part use the numbers as a guiding hand more so than absolute law.  With play by post, I find it's easier to do the RP, and use the numbers to explain why those actions would work.  I don't want to be super strict about everything, if someone wants to pump up their reflexes, sure, but there'll be baddies out there that do the same.  If you want the game played exclusively by the numbers, I'm afraid I'm not really the DM for that.    As far as the tech is concerned, I'd be fine with bumping up the price to luxury range of prices since REF is a pretty intense stat to boost, not every goon on the street is gonna be able to afford stuff like this.  Increasing it to take up 3 of the internal implant slots and tripling the humanity cost, should make people think twice before deciding to get it.  I hesitate to make people add side effects to their ware because the humanity cost is already supposed to account for that, and I want to make sure everyone is still having fun.
  23. I'm not trying to be so limiting about everything and kind of quash the fun, ultimately if I find something doesn't work, we can talk about it and go from there.  This is supposed to be fun, but i do understand that balancing is important.   I don't have an issue with increasing attributes, but in the interest of balancing skills with something like this and others like this, is that it's treated as a temporary boost that impacts the attribute alone, but not the skill, unless of course, the item would cost significantly more in humanity and price.  Give me a bit more time to look at it and we'll make something work
  24.   DON LUCA You know, back in the old days, my family were poor.  My grandfather often said it was a lack of desire that let them live like that, and he hated it.  He wanted more, so when the opportunity arose, he rolled up his sleeves and started his own business.  Naturally, working hard can get you somewhere, but it wasn't until my father stepped in and added a bit of ruthlessness to the equation, that the family business started getting somewhere.  Now here I am, on top of the construction world in Night City.  Unfortunately, being the best, puts a bit of a target on your back, and some people have decided to aim for the top.  I'm not so petty as to dirty my hands over simple rumours, but if there were some mercs with a go getter attitude that were inclined to look into it on their own time, I might be inclined to reward them for their initiative.  If some certain architectural plans happen to go missing from their offices too, then that would be a shame   Location: Watson Development | PiLar Construction Team: 2-4 Mercs [1 Netrunner required] Objectives: Locate and transmit information Do not implicate the Don or any of his business Reward: 1450 eddies [+750 for completing optional request]
