Rillik grin turned impish as she raised an eyebrow, then slapped the soil from the Svirf's behind. "You're right, that's not enough to feed a chipmunk, we'll need to fatten you up, there should be some sort of fruit or berries in a copse like this." The soldier mage said, tilting her head. Their hunt, no longer confined to the earth and decay didn't take too long to produce results.

Near the other side of the thicket, the gnomes found a scattered bunch of date palms. She sighed, grateful that they wouldn't have to return empty handed after so much time. The first was cut open, checked for parasites then eaten. Licked clean of its glorious sweet pulp before tossing the pulp to the ground and consuming another, then another four. While Ril did love meat, sweets were her true love as she gorged herself on them. It was a few minutes before the soldier looked up to catch Yopine staring at her stickied fingers and face. For a second she froze, then dropped the peel on the ground and inadequately dusted her hands. "Right. These seem edible." She said, non-chalantly dropping the peel on the ground and taking off her hat. "We can just fill my hat and take the rest back to camp"

When Yopine refused her hand, Rillik made a sweeping motion and the earth followed her command, piling itself into a firm little mound to function as a seat, and so she sat, and she listened. The svirf was right, this did sound crazy, but then so did some of what she was spewing earlier and she really didn't want her friend to feel bad for coming to her with her worries. "You said you trusted them right... if so, then didn't they say that they met up long after Ragz had the dog? Wouldn't that make any collusion between the Harpers and Torben's mystery task master very unlikely? The dog isn't a dog, that much I'd bet my hat on. Simplest answer is its a dragon, that's why there's a dragon chasing them. Simplest answer is usually the right one... though this glacier ritual business..."

She didn't like where her mind was going, she'd been trying to keep things simple. "I think it probably more likely for Torben to be a sacrifice prepped at a monastery, sent unwittingly by someone who told him to keep his mouth shut. Religions keep strange bedfellows and I'll grow tentacles sooner than there being any squid on top of a glacier. It's surely an aberration or otherworldly creature. Orrr... and hear me out... its all BS. One of the monk's didn't like having a bugbear there, so sent him on a BS task, as a prank or maybe to get rid of him for good. Doesn't that seem more likely?" She smiled reassuringly, why it was so much easier to be reasonable for someone else's sake? "We're not here for some ritual, we're here because people who are trusted trust us. I think there a lot of reaching happening, but that's not a bad thing. When I have those sorts of gremlins whispering in my ear I say 'Thank you gremlin for the warning, duly noted now kindly toddle off.' They usually do... it's your gut talking, I know you've seen stuff, sometimes guts can get a lil messy... I'm glad you told me, it's not a bad idea to consider options, who knows if more information comes then maybe what seems more likely will change." She leaned over and lifted Yopine's chin. "But Svirfette, no matter what I've got your back, ya? but right now I'm starving, so your back is looking might tasty, and unless you want me to take a bite of your rump, we best get some berries."

"I don't actually know anything about mushrooms... but I think you're right, the poison ones probably don't try to kill you." Leaning well into the tree, she bent her knee and dragged her foot up so the soul was resting on the course bark. With a lull of her head she let he gaze drift towards the camp. "I'm not sure it matters if they're trying to kill you, but I'm more comfortable knowing the ones that are colorfully toxic then those that hide their poison. Those are the ones that are really dangerous... but then they all look the same at that point so who knows good from bad?" Pushing herself from the tree, she reached a hand down to pull Svirfette to her feet. "I don't think I'm in the mood for mushrooms anymore... maybe we can find some oak moss or berries instead?"

The silver haired gnome stiffened at her name and a quick word slipped from between her tinted lips "~Moroz~" A word of power, accompanied by a gesture that resulted in a bolt of rime flying from her index finger towards the toxic fungi. Her toe nudged it and it shattered. "Okay?" She repeated, the question echoing the inflection, but hollow, then she shrugged. "I'm not having much luck really." She said before beginning to walk. "Ever notice how poisonous mushrooms always seem the tastiest? They pop up right in front of you with their bright caps and tinted gills. Them being around is fine, as long as nobody eats them. They're even good for the forest. Other mushrooms cling to the dead, growing wild on the remnants of a past life." Poking at a log fire ants began to crawl like mad and she jumped away, before looking under some low lying leaves near a large tree. "I think my favorite ones are truffles, the ones that are covered in dirt and know how to avoid getting stepped on. They help the trees grow. They're very tasty, but finding them without some sort of trained sniffer or divination magic is really hard." She waved her hand again and the soil beneath the tree churned and uncovered... nothing. Rillik just frowned at the tilled soil.

Rillik glared up at Roland as he chuckled, but her lips curled just enough to be called a grin. "With the way you go on about Aly's food, you'll have plenty of padding soon enough." She said with a rap of the back of her knuckled on his belly.

"That wine go good with the venison, I'm going to see if I can find some herbs or mushrooms to go with." Her smile widened so much her eyes nearly shut, then she made her way off to the treeline. Out of sight with her back to the camp, the facade dropped. There was nothing for it now, no way to pick back up and get an answer from the two irregulars to their company. She would have to accept that everyone was blindly vouching for them in one way or another. It reminded her of having to work with the "bandit brigades" in Ulgarth, the reformed criminals who chose military service in lieu of hard labour or even less favorable punishments. They followed orders though, under penalty, and didn't keep secrets. If anything, they were considered too candid and crass for comfort, but she preferred it that way.

In frustration she blasted off a few rays of frost at random targets. Then went about looking for some edible mushrooms. She found some clearly poisonous ones and stood staring at them.

Settling on the young tortoise's back with a wriggle, Namira played a soft note on her flute and a pale blue hand of magical force manifested before the large reptile. Another gesture and it gripped a hand full of food from in front of the beast's beak and held it just out of reach. "Ah-ahh, not all at once, follow the food and keep going for more." She said.. but didn't expect it's neck to reach so far and jar her so abruptly as to mess her concentration on the spell.

Her gaze and stance is unmoving, but the gnome responded to the bard stoically. "...shows a trust." She repeated with a nod. She couldn't understand why they hadn't simply agreed, why they were being so evasive. The solution was simple, they would speak clearly and candidly their words. Did they just expect people to trust them without them giving their word? Rillik couldn't fathom that as even an option, her lineage was one of scribes and scriveners, some of whom would argue that if it wasn't said or written, it wasn't of consequence. It wasn't a consideration or even a fleeting thought, there were no thoughts happening right now, behind her eyes was only a taciturn reigning in of darkness. With a glance to Yopine, she noticed her edging closer to the bugbear and kobold, as if intending to side with them. Rillik flinched as if stung, but clenched her jaw and bore it... her eyes beginning to glisten slightly.

At Roland's interjection she wheeled on him, marched straight up to the undermining bastard, starring him down, then once she was right up on him, the three and a half foot gnome punched him in the guts with such force that... well, he probably felt better than worse. She was not a strong, even for a gnome her size, her physical prowess was subpar. Seeing his lack of reaction, she punched him again.

  8. Umm... I agree with everything you're saying? Very very sorry its coming across as arguing objective reality :/

Rillik is completely biased, full of confirmation biases and cognative dissonance atm. Like I mentioned before, she would also probably assume if something was missing, that the kobold took it. That's not because she's fair. That's why I put in the "to her implies", not just "implies". only two small words but they are important ones, though I could see them being seen as a defense/cop out. Glad to hear you were doing your best to give me the benefit of the doubt :)

I mean, she jumped in part way through a conversation demanding answers, and in her mind the response was the bugbear getting upset. That's not because she's considering the fact that any reasonable person would get frustrated by the sarcasm and grilling that occured, heck I think Torben was nice not to throw the log at someone. It was some great RP on his behalf :) Ril breaks from this and rambles off, some loose and reaching theory of the dog eating something magic and off the cuff casts a detect magic spell. It was a long shot in Ril's mind and even more of a long shot in mine. The strength and unexpectedness of the aura was now being crammed into her view, because not only was she not really expecting to find magic, this was completely out of the scope she was considering. New information must be made to fit into her existing paradigm... crunch-crunch-crunch... while thinking of this she hears "danger" in draconic. When was the last time she might have heard this from a kobold? Not from an ally... now she's flying down a mental rabbit hole, looking over her shoulder for attacks, edgy as all hell until her CO snapped her out of it... then she's "fine".

She was being bias by a lot, to the point of insulting for sure. Does that mean her requests are not fair and or reasonable? ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯ Does it mean if Ragz and Torben stay its despite Rillik, Not because she's made what could be construed as a reasonable request... oh I think that's probably a safe bet.

edit: Trying to explain not justify. Feel free to give her shit for them... :o

  9. No problem, it's not an easy scenario. Rillik wasn't really involved in the conversation at the time he said he couldn't say, she sorta butted in after half listening.

I'm not sure about the threat, I don't want to make her get more aggressive. Her current hyperpothesis is you guys stole a baby dragon. Maybe one that was in disguise or maybe one you put a disguise on. As that's the simplest explaination as to why a previously non active elder green dragon is going nutso and chasing you. She's not thought further, so I'm not sure how that would go. she could suggest telling the green dragon where you are and where you're going in relatively short order of she believes that's the right thing to do or not let the dog go? Note sure did assist in getting one of yopine's "friends" arrested, so that would be in line for Rill. But really I'm not sure... She is more concerned with the dragon than the tentacle business, so will play by ear.

I'm not sure if that helps. I hope that helps.

Edit: Someone voicing that Torben had basically already expressed that he made a promise not to tell, would be good enough for her.
