  1. Region Submission (53) Ipatida Geography In the shadow of towering skeletal remains of once-great factories, a vibrant community thrives amidst the rusted metal sheets and skeletal frames that litter the savanna of Ipatida, especially in the coastal towns by the Great Sea. Here, long after a forgotten industrial era, resourceful scavengers eke out a living by salvaging these relics of the past for essential supplies. Similarly to the neighboring Agbada, gardens of vibrant greenery thrive in the cracks of the concrete, with vines and moss covering entire structures from top to bottom. Even children play in the ruins, their twittering and chirping echoing off the rusted walls as they haphazardly design toys from discarded scraps. Unlike the great cities around Castle Kiniun, however, these remain in disrepair. Flashing neon lights and computer service are nowhere to be seen, and streets are merely a result of many a talon walking the same path. Further out, however, it becomes the sandiest and dustiest region in which the Animals of the Confederation have been able to settle. A smattering of small villages is painted across the western wastes, where supplies from the south are regularly transported in. These regions are primarily inhabited by the Vultures, adhering to the moral code of Dustbound Chivalry. People Most of the citizens of the region are anthropomorphic birds, including the aforementioned Vultures, as well as Hawks, Ostriches, Roadrunners, and Ospreys. Due to laws of thermodynamics, however, none of these peoples are able to fly, leading many to feel jealous of the simpler creatures around them. There are no grand aviaries or soaring towers where communities come together. Instead, they make their homes in the abandoned factories and warehouses, fashioning nests and beds from scavenged materials and fortified with whatever scraps they can find. Life here is harsh and unforgiving, at least relative to the rest of the Confederation's holdings. Indeed, they scavenge tirelessly through the ruins, searching for anything of value that can be traded or repurposed. Metal scraps, mechanical parts, and anything else that might fetch a few scraps of food or clean water from the occasional oasis are highly prized commodities in this harsh landscape. These Houses have been integrated into the government system of the Confederation, each ruling over its newly defined territory as set by the Holy Presbyter’s Council and gaining a seat at the table among Agbada’s elite. Faith The Cult of Avva is the faith of the majority now that the Confederation has taken Ipatida under its wing, and it is welcomed with open arms, as the daytimes are peaceful and productive under the watchful eye of the Sun God. From dust all rise and to dust all return. Dustbound Chivalry is a code of morals, ethics, and ideals followed by those living near the dusty borders with Narsai and Vesper. Many claim that their historical homeland may actually lie somewhere among these border regions, not defined by today’s national boundaries. Indeed, wherever the dust is most present is where they belong. However, their lineage has yet to understand the secrets of Dust Hardening, and therefore can only make futile attempts at charging headfirst into the dusty deserts with honor at stake. An underground tournament is held on a yearly basis: the strongest non-cheater receives the blessing of the Grandmaster to attempt returning to the dust. Resource Sorcerous Swords (Weapons, Armor, and Munitions & Exotic Matter) are among the strangest living(?!) beings on Tekhum. Believed to be ancient animated automatons no longer bound to any known charging station, these levitating and often rusty swords are approximately two feet long and, when dissected, are unable to be classified as any known modern metal. They can be found in the basements of the ancient structures littered throughout the region. A single eye rests near the hilt, which can blink and look in any direction it pleases. Looking into the eye of a Sorcerous Sword for too long results in a burst of shadows in all directions, knocking over anyone unlucky enough to be nearby. Only by beating one of these weapons in a duel can a soldier gain the right to wield it in battle. Grabbing its hilt otherwise results in one’s life energy being drained. (Salmon Steve and the Grandmaster, among others, are able to wield a sword.) The power of the swords cannot be understated. Therefore, qualified soldiers willing to tame them are necessary. Else, the swords will inevitably drive out those who call these lands home. Mercenaries to protect stashes among the ruins are also welcome.
  2. The Cloudburst Confederation Agbada (Region 52), Region 153, Alaari (Region 56), & the Irisite Archipelago (Region 112) Leader: Holy Presbyter Igba Dye DIP 5 | MIL 2 | ECO 5 | FAI 3 | INT 2 Expected gains: +1 DIP, +1 ECO Actions: 1. [Economy - Special 5] Send Trade Route to STAR RATS. Referred by the Iron Masquerade. Rumors come from the City of Narsai that offworld traders have been generous to the Elect as of late. The Holy Presbyter reaches out via letter, informing the Rats that space will be held for them in the markets, both day and night, in the city of Castle Kiniun, should they wish to bring exotic goods from faraway lands and receive some corn in return. 2. [Economy] Prospect the Irisite Archipelago (112) for Avvan Warrior Monks (Soldiers/Specialists). Spend 1 treasure. Success! (12) The earliest settlers of the floating Archipelago in the Veehran skies are the highly religious who made the trip as the first of many to make a religious pilgrimage. Tending to the temple requires an extensive skill set: in addition to the maintenance of the grounds and knowledge of the necessary rituals and rights, an ancient form of martial arts using quarterstaves and fire magic is prevalent among the Cult's clergy, in order to protect holy sites from intruders. For a sizeable donation to the Church, some of these monks could be persuaded to serve as mercenaries. 3. [Diplomacy - Special 5] Create Cultural Identity - Resist Theft. Shielding the Lion's Share. For too long have the coffers of Agbada been the laughing stock of Tekhum. This cannot stand any longer. An unrivaled level of security is placed upon royal treasuries, vaults, and even jails. Leopards of House Amotekun are employed for their keen sense of vision, even during the night, Elephants from the lands of Aagiga stand guard imposingly, and the Caracals of Karakal sit upon towers, listening closely for intruders. 4. [Diplomacy] Encourage Settlement in the Irisite Archipelago (112). Spend 1 treasure. Failure... (10) Prince Ilaro Kiniun recovers significantly from the incident in the chambers of the castle, but weeps, knowing his father put his all into uncovering the secrets of the Sun God. After many a meeting with the Holy Presbyter Igba Dye, a pious but highly practical and logical Vervet of House Vervobo, their councils approve of an extended interim rule. In the meantime, the rightful God-King makes way for the Archipelago, determined to establish a population of clergymen and priestesses who can administer these holiest of lands. Unfortunately, his feebleness and remaining illness result in a lack of energy and enthusiasm, and many remain wary of boarding the ships necessary to reach the Temple... 5. [Military] Raise Ground Unit. House Efono, a group of wild and unruly Buffalo, are called upon for their service, known to be among the strongest of warriors. Non-Actions: Accept Embassy from the Iron Masquerade. Suggest STAR RATS buys out a TP of Heroic Adventurers. Contribute to the Coronal Catalogue of Duelists. Send the 69th issue of Tomorrow's Lion for ArkHival. It is an original print, copy #7. Priceless, showing off Ilaro. Resist all unauthorized actions. Vital Information: Treasure: 2 - 2 = 0 (or -1 and remove the treasure spent on Action 4 [it was rolled multiple days after Action 2] depending on the audit? not sure what's happening) Ground Units: 3 + 1 = 4 Space Units: 1 News & Rumors: The Twilight League has suffered long enough for lacking resources and prime vacation spots within the Confederation. Assuming no further hostilities are declared, the Vesperites are once again permitted to enter Agbada, assuming they've gotten the proper paperwork, of which there is much. The Declaration by the Kingdom of High Ishtahnos is quickly disregarded by the Confederation's royalty and diplomats. It is not some far-off land's right to impose subjective moral obligations upon all the people of Veehra. The Holy Presbyter, though currently busy with other internal affairs and therefore unlikely to call further inquisitions in the near future, warns the other states of Veehra via public decree: Ishtahnos is not to be trusted, for they believe they are superior to the rest of us, demanding we follow their will and restrictions. Resting upon their high horse, they seek to restrict the freedom of Veehran's Elect and do what they please, and this declaration is merely a pretense for justifying aggressive violence among the Elect, who are admittedly equals. Veehra is for Veehra, not for the Ishtahn alone. Indeed, if Avva wills proselytizing, proselytizing he shall receive, for his light is the only moral compass the Confederation needs. Coronal Catalogue of Duelists In all of Agbadan history, no duelist has been as impactful as Olodolo the Faithful, General of the Royal Army. Prior to his official appointment, the Confederation had little success in its territorial ambitions. And though many of his grand strategies may be top secret, his own methods can be readily observed. Following the integration of Ipatida, he took it upon himself to challenge the Grandmaster, leader of the Vultures of Dustbound Chivalry, to a one-on-one duel. No grenades, no trenches, no backup. Blunt edge to blunt edge combat. Should the Grandmaster emerge victorious this time, he would be granted a position among the Royal Army. What the Grandmaster did not have on his side is the power of Arcane Amplification. Indeed, Olodolo's unwavering piousness allows him to harness an intense heat into the metal of his blade, making it slice through traditional armor far more smoothly than any traditional weapon. Though many would consider the use of magic cheating, Veehran combat is not pretty nor fair. Combined with a mighty lion's roar for a daring show of intimidation and delicately sharpened claws as the ultimate get-off-me tool, his foe stood no chance. Army Information Commanders: General Olodolo the Faithful of Castle Kiniun (MIL 10) Tactical Doctrine: Avva's Watchful Eye - On Tactical Maneuvering Success, free conversion attempt on target region. 3. The Cloudburst Confederation Agbada (Region 52) & Alaari (Region 56) Leader: God-King Okan Kiniun DIP 2 | MIL 10 | ECO 3 | FAI 10 | INT 1 Expected gains: +1 ECO, +1 MIL Actions: 1. [Faith - Special 10] Miracle It is said that long ago the Great Sea of Omi was a hollow and dry canyon, not too dissimilar to the Flare Canyon of Alaari. Indeed, the crystal shards found there occasionally wash up on the shores of Agbada, radiating a warm and soft orange glow accompanied by a homely heat, occasionally among unidentifiable stone and metal rubble. They are collected and stored in homes, often used as a centerpiece on altars devoted to Avva. The God-King has long believed that this could not be a simple coincidence. If Avva has been around since the beginning of his dynasty – and indeed, even earlier – there must be some remainder of his influence below the sea. Whichever god or supernatural force found it fit to flood his holy lands should be ashamed. But now that the influence of the Confederation has been made known across Veehra, and dare he say Tekhum, he believed in the power of Avva to restore whatever it is that lies in the depths, swearing to protect it with his life and that of House Kiniun’s divinity. The God-King resigns to his holy chambers for several weeks, deep in House Kiniun, bringing his only son, Ilaro Kiniun, with him. There, they establish an intimate spiritual connection with Avva as his earthly vessel. At the end of this meditation, Veehra itself trembles from its core as a beam of light coming directly from the Sun itself strikes the ocean. Powerful waves strike the shorelines of the Agbada, yet all are spared harm... And yet, after all of this, only the Prince returns, and he collapses, exhausted. Astonishingly, a small archipelago of islands emerges from the sea, just within sight of Castle Kiniun. Water pours over the side of the islands’ rugged, stony shores as they continue to rise above the sea. The largest island has a centerpiece that pokes out above the rest… a tall, tattered and worn down cathedral with a large spire, built from stone, covered in moss and debris. At the top of the spire rested a large, circular crystal of an orange glow. Explorers must be dispatched at once to investigate. Holy Presbyter Igba Dye, the highest ranking member of the Alaarian clergy, steps up to command while the Prince rests... Mechanics Miracle: Raising the Ancient Temple Mechanics: Creates and automatically colonizes Region 112, the Irisite Archipelago, a zero-g region floating high in the atmosphere of Veehra with a Minority of Cult of Avva. It functions similarly to a Space Habitat, requiring both an Encourage Settlement and Prospect action, but does not prevent the Cloudburst Confederation from creating one in the future. Fluffy Mechanics: Ends the reign of God-King Okan Kiniun and puts immense arcane pressure on the Prince Ilaro Kiniun, resulting in a necessary few years of rest before being able to lead the Confederation. 2. [Military] Raise Ground Unit. 3. [Military] Invade Region 53 with assistance from the Iron Masquerade. Space Front led by Johanne Faustine (MIL 7, MSQ) with 2 units (1 CBC, 1 MSQ). Ground Front led by Olodolo (MIL 10) attempting Avva's Watchful Eye with 6 units (3 CBC, 3 MSQ) and +1 from Cult of Avva, +1 from Popmaize Cluster Grenades. It is time for the Grandmaster to meet his match... the Duke of House Agbawo calls in his favor with the Masquerade to bolster the invading force, and with the graces of the God-King, launches another full-scale invasion. Okan also mentions, however, that he would like to own the special Veehran salmon housed within the abode of the so-called "Salmon Steve," and as such all troops are to keep an eye out for it during the offensive. He must see the salmon with his own two eyes to determine if it truly is a potential reference for the image of the Emperor. Perhaps Salmon Steve has it wrong and it is actually a perfect representation of the God-King himself, or sun forbid, Avva. 4. [Economy] Buyout TP 39.2 for Heroic Adventurers. +2 from expected support. -1 distance. Failure (8)... 5. [Economy] Extend the Rail into Agbada (52). Non-Actions: Resist all unauthorized actions. Submit 68 issues of Tomorrow's Lion magazine, all perfectly preserved first editions, to the Arkhive as an important cultural work. In addition to the striking and handsome imagery, the articles are known for providing insight into Agbadan customs and popular figures. Exclusive interviews are included with the generous models, including Okan Kiniun himself. The 69th issue is expected to be published next year. Turnover to Holy Presbyter Igba Dye (DIP 4 + 1 | MIL 2 | ECO 3 + 1 | FAI 3 | INT 2), a non-heir ruler. Ilaro Kiniun remains heir and will inherit +2 MIL, +2 FAI when he takes the throne. [WTU] Contribute to The People Want Action. The People Want Action Unpaid labor has been an extremely controversial topic across Tekhum as of late, and although the Agbadans do not have a strong stance on the matter personally, they do believe there would be better uses for an excess of workers than low-skilled work out in the dust deserts. When the Union puts out a call for suggestions in the region, members of House Eriali, who have been assisting the Veehran Antigravitational Rail project, send a message indicating that perhaps they could be trained as paid transportation specialists by the talented people Counts of Mirage to assist in connecting a better Veehra. More hands on deck for carving ground and laying ground rail could drastically improve the efficiency of the project, which the Union itself is already interested in investing into. 4. The Lion in the VIP Box chuckles, arms crossed, standing in front of the hand rail, eyes glistening, tail swishing. "What a show!" he slowly claps as the final strike against Doom Soom hits its mark, "What a show, I say! A shame for the poor Agbadan prince and the people of the Utopian, to be sure, but how thrilling it was to watch. Almost makes a man regret not visiting Mekhala sooner."
  5. Aki panicked as he fled from Doom Soom, dropping his handaxe onto the ground with no hope to retrieve it. But before he could even regain his footing, he found himself facing the back of the mech operated by none other than the Console Prisca of the Illuminated Utopian. The very same who managed to snatch the secrets of Dust Hardening away from Veehra's sole clutches. Taking the Console out would not only make his family proud, but all of Veehra. He reached to his belt and prepared another grenade, hands glowing...
  6. The sounds of bursting popcorn and metal piercing thick armor fills the air. The light bursting from his hands had faded almost as quickly as it had appeared. Without time to focus on all of that, though, Aki found himself himself being confronted by what could only be described as a sandy and bloodied monstrosity. Thinking quicker than he ever had before, he takes his handaxe and crosses it across the front of his body, hoping to brace whatever foul attack Doom Soom had planned for him. He quivered, trying not to focus on whatever it was that was attacking him. 7. Aki trembled in his boots. Not only did his own brother put forth the idea of joining the bloodsport competition, but his father endorsed and encouraged the idea, saying he needed practice after failing to secure a victory over the Grandmaster to the north, who both bested his tactical prowess and his personal strength. "Brave face... you've got this," he mumbled to himself as he reached for his belt and detached a grenade, scanning the arena for a target far enough away that the explosion wouldn't recoil onto him. That dark knight's armor is surely extra susceptible to the intense heat of sun magic. His hand glows a fiery orange as he clutches a grenade... And it explodes squarely above the knight's head, pelting him with a barrage of burning hot shards. Nearby contestants are spared either, being hit with a few pieces as well. And as the knight tries to strike back, Aki masterfully dodges by hopping back, gracefully. In the VIP Box, a second Lion, wearing a gilded crown and similarly fashionable cape, crosses his arms and grunts. He smirks, focusing intently on Aki. 8. Region 56 - Alaari Geography The great savanna surrounding the Sea of Omi stretches into Alaari. Indeed, vast expanses of golden grasslands stretch as far as the eye can see, interspersed with scattered patches of hardy shrubs and low-lying vegetation. The grasses of Alaari are known for their reddish hue due to the high iron oxide content in the soil, which is less fertile than Agbada’s. Otherwise, however, the most notable feature is the Avvan Flare Canyon – a massive canyon etched into the Veehran surface by ancient rivers, now dry and barren, that had once flown from the sea to the region’s north. When the angle of the sun is right, the canyon walls light up with the reflection of sunlight on exposed crystal shards, creating the illusion of fiery solar flares dancing across the landscape. This phenomenon occurs during the day for about half the year. People & Government The Alaarians are ultimately an extension of the Agbadans, with different groups of anthropomorphic animals calling the region home. Alaari is quickly incorporated as a part of the Agbadan feudal system, home to six additional pre-existing houses: Vervobo (Vervet Monkeys), Elede (Warthogs), Epoaja (Wild Dogs), Efono (Buffalo), Merkal (Meerkats), and Eranko (Gnu). Prior to the takeover, it was a collection of six minor kingdoms, corresponding to the new houses. Now, however, squabbling is common as they argue over the land distribution determined by the God-King Okan Kiniun. Faith Precomputed Traditionalism is a set of beliefs that asserts all things must eventually come to an end. One’s life is predetermined from its onset, and nothing you can do can change that. Life is a script that is read line by line until cut off. Although one life is not inherently any better than another, every decision one makes is believed to be made at birth. No matter how long one thinks about any given decision, the ultimate outcome will be the same, as you would have picked the same option regardless of how much contemplation went into it. The only thing that can vary unexpectedly in life is the point at which you pass away. A longer life means that you can experience more of your predetermined life course, so the people strive to live long lives. This outlook is seen as incredibly restrictive and depressing by younger generations, who have been more in tune to the outside world, thanks to the rise of InterPlaNet Cafes throughout the Confederation. Specifically, with rising influence from Agbada to the west, the Cult of Avva is increasing in popularity extremely quickly, as it allows freedom and control over one’s life for at least half the day. Resource For some reason, Alaarian scientists are overly fascinated with the simplistic elegance of the stop codon. In microbiology labs found in the lands of House Vervobo, genetically modified viruses are constructed with the sole purpose of injecting more stop codons into the DNA of test subjects. In addition to the classic stop codons (TAG, TAA, and TGA, etc.), numerous additional stop codons have been reported to function in test organisms, including maize and chickens, after being isolated from the strange red grasses that grow in the region. They function on previously undiscovered base pair components which are not readily available outside of these labs. Their introduction allows for further customization when working with In Vivo Modification and are notable due to resulting in a delayed, rather than immediate, stop of protein production, varying from codon to codon. These Gene Samples (Information & Data, [Luxury Goods OR Drugs & Medicine] at DM discretion) are commercially available for a high price and sanctioned by the local Houses’ governments. Injecting oneself with a syringe of stop codon viruses once a month is rumored to induce longevity by prematurely stopping aging genes, making it a popular item for the upper class. Magic Items are in high demand due to their sparsity in nearby regions. Owning and utilizing magic items, especially due to the commonplace nature of fire magic in the Confederation’s society, is seen as a status symbol and often a must for some corporations and factories.
  9. In a previously unseen spectacle, the Royal Navy of Agbada can be seen landing on the planetoid of Hayeli. Stepping down from the ship is the heir to the throne of the Confederation, Prince Aki Kiniun. A strikingly handsome Lion, his athletic build is beautifully complimented by his luscious mane. Wearing what appears to be decorated pieces of salvaged metal as shoulder pads, a leather strap around his chest, and adventurer's shorts, his confidence comes through as he walked down the stairs onto the foreign planet, strutting with an unfamiliar pride. A red, white, and orange cape flows behind him, majestically. A small guard of Lion and Hyena soldiers follows. Around his waist is a magazine of Popmaize Cluster Grenades, and attached to his back is a lightweight handaxe. Prior to any matches, he lets out a noble roar for the assuredly excited audience. "Hello, people of Tekhum! May the Sun bless us today as he guides me through this event in the name of Agbada! My father has granted me permission to show you all some experimental techniques today, so I hope you're excited to see what we can do!" He bows before the crowd. Out of Character Notes: Aki Kiniun is the heir to the throne of Agbada. His MIL stat is 1 (+2 if dynastic bonuses are included). Very strong. +1 from Popmaze Cluster Grenades.

Vital Information: Treasure: 3 - 2 = 1 Ground Units: 2 Space Units: 0 News & Rumors: Divine Inspiration? When the news broke that unseemly imagery has been generated of various members of the Elect, the God-King is reported to have let out a hearty laugh and brushed it off. When pressed for more information by the Basu-Rahman Group and Snek News, he readily shares his raunchy past. Indeed, in the coffers of the Royal Library lies perfectly preserved copies of numerous magazines for which Okan Kiniun had modeled in his youth, allegedly before becoming the God-King. This is commonplace for nobles in the country, apparently. Avva does not judge, nor does he discourage what is natural. Indeed, the Agbadan people seem to have already known about this and are therefore unscathed by the supposed scandal. Copies of these newspapers quickly begin to recirculate -- Show Your Pride!, Tomorrow's Lion, Playstar, and Divine Society, among others -- and are well-received by the public. Johanne Faustine arrives safely in the City of Narsai in the latter half of Imperial Year 2043. Now a young adult experienced in the ways of wet navy sailing, her stark enthusiasm for the Iron Monarch seems to have shifted to an abnormal fascination with theological astronomy. She is joyous that it nearly never rains during the day, and becomes rebellious at night. She spends many hours observing the sun. Baron Gilbert Faustine is handed the following letter by an Agbawo soldier who had accompanied her home. A Letter to the Baron Faustine To the Good Duke Gilbert, Please be advised that Johanne has completed her training that we promised to provide her as part of this exchange program. She is quite the talented sailor, indeed, and her enthusiasm for the Sun God shines bright. Entirely of her own volition and willingness to learn the truth, I assure you. I had almost hoped she would volunteer to enlist in our forces! Bahaha! I have heard the news regarding his... violent behavior in the elevator shafts. (This part is hardly legible, smudged and crossed over.) I believe this may have been the best outcome for the lad, in truth. He was a decent sailor, but all of the lands of House Agbawo know that his older brother, Idiro, would be the best of the Hyenas to take my place should any ill fall upon me. Gang violence would be truly despicable in the eyes of Avva. And the Maned Pride? Seriously? He should know better than to insinuate the Holy House Kiniun in all of this. Hopefully he will learn his lesson. I trust your judgement in this situation and grant permission for you to discipline him as your House sees fit. Surely you would have allowed the same, had Johanne not been an impeccable student. I hope that he can be returned a changed man soon. 14. The Cloudburst Confederation Starting Region: Agbada (Region 52) Summary Capital: Castle Kiniun Demonym: Agbadan Three Letter Code: CBC Starting Ruler: God-King Okan Kiniun (DIP 2, MIL 5, ECO 3, FAI 5, INT 1; ) Starting Technologies: Arcane Amplification, Wet Navy Ships Starting Faith: Cult of Avva (Majority) Faction Support: Government: The Cloudburst Confederation Mercantile: The Iron Masquerade Media: The Cloudburst Confederation Geography The Cloudburst Confederation rests within the Agbada Basin surrounding the southern Great Lake, known to locals as the Great Sea of Omi. To the north lies the Oke Range. The land itself is something of a safe space tucked away in the corner of the dusty planet, though that isn’t to say it's bustling with life. Rather, the region is still dry and lacking serious vegetative cover, only with the occasional tree and variety of bushes, most similar to an earthly savanna. The largest cities lie along the coast, while smaller towns and villages can be found scattered through the rest of the land. Government The Confederation acts as a stereotypical feudal system, with powerful houses ruling sectors of the land. These houses are united under a single king, the ruler of the most pious and longstanding house. Presently, and for all of recorded history thus far, this has been House Kiniun of the City of Agbada, a blessed lineage of Lions, whose manes are said to shine as bright as the flames of the sun Avva itself. Known as the God-King, the emperor is said to be able to harness and store the power of the sun god himself and is therefore granted absolute decision making authority, though he does employ a roundtable of advisors and a grand jury, primarily for show. Only he can command the special ships provided by the Empire. As for economics, the Confederation is very loosely tied together through its agricultural might. Otherwise, however, restrictions and regulations are minimal. Foreign merchants, particularly those of the Masquerade, are commonplace in the Confederation's towns and cities. Map of the Royal Houses of Agbada: House Kiniun - Lions House Amotekun - Leopards House Agbawo - Hyenas House Aagiga - Elephants House Karakal - Caracals House Abila - Antelope House Eriali - Zebra People Anthropomorphic animals of many kinds live in the Agbada Basin, namely those that would typically be found in the savanna: lions, cheetahs, hyenas, gazelle, zebra, antelope, giraffes, and elephants, to name a few. Each group is an individual species, generally just referred to as the typical animal’s name with caps lock for distinction. Particular peoples tend to group together, though the largest of cities, including the capital of Agbada itself, has a variety of districts. It is likely that the basin has the highest civilized population in all of Veehra. Usage of basic fire and light magic is commonplace among nobility and occasional among commonfolk. Many essential technologies are only accomplished by the ability of some to perform tricks with flames. History Its not quite certain how the people of Agbada arose, but it is clear that they were not the first to inhabit the lands they call home. Much of the urban infrastructure is repurposed ruins from times past, with run down concrete buildings and flickering neon signs appearing commonplace. Mosses and vines run amok in the cities, indeed, giving the whole region a run-down atmosphere, even if it is thriving and bustling. New construction is relatively rare due to a lack of resources; instead, systems and buildings are consistently recycled and repurposed as necessary. Materials to spread the urban sphere outward are far too thin. Otherwise, the status quo has been in place for quite some time. An age in which the Empire had not held influence over the Confederacy cannot be remembered by any, or noted in any history books. The Orphon megastructure remains controversial among the people of the Confederacy. Traditionalists believe that it has prevented Avva from watching over the people of Tekhum as he should, while modernists secretly praise it for limiting the sun's direct exposure to Veehra. House Kiniun has been the seat of the God-King for well over five hundred years and shows no signs of changing any time soon. Faith Even the Basin isn’t safe from the dry atmosphere of Veehra, leading to a lack of rainfall even in what may be considered the most fertile soil on the planet. In a somewhat backwards line of thought, Agbadan folk tradition proposes that the Sun itself is an otherworldly deity, Avva, that watches down upon the people of the whole planet. Bright and sunny days indicate careful attentiveness by the sun god, while cloudy skies are his long awaited period of rest. Social norms and laws are prone to ignorance and blatant disregard during periods of dense cloud cover – the sun god is not around to see one’s misdeeds, after all. Avva can only learn of evils during this time through the prayer of the God-King of the Confederacy, who is said to have a natural connection with the deity. In moments of bright sunlight and desperate measures, the Agbadan belief is that Avva himself can inhabit the body and soul of the God-King. When the sunlight is strong, the people are most pious, primarily out of god-fearing, as Avva is said to be watching when the sun shines bright. His watchful eye produces the beams of light that touch all the land. Most importantly, however, are rainy days, which bless the fertile soil of the basin. When the sun god cries, it rains. Most rainstorms occur when the skies are cloudy, so it can be believed that Avva’s simply having some sort of bad dream during his rest. But when it rains with clear skies, the people of Agbada know that they have done something far too wrong, going so far as to cause the sun to cry. Arguments erupt and conflicts boil doing the rare sight of a sunshower. The God-King is often to blame and must take it upon himself to clear his name. Ultimately, the faith is one of subservience and fear. Harvests are blessed and the Agbadan lands remain relatively luscious as long as Avva himself believes the people of the world are doing their best to maintain certain moral standards. But should this peace be interrupted and he notice a trend, it could be the end of Agbadan prosperity. This has led to two schools in the faith: one which follows Avva out of fear of punishment (often referred to the modernist faction), and another which follows him out of gratitude for his blessing (the traditionalists). Space travel, particularly in the direction of the sun itself, has long been a taboo to the followers of the Cult of Avva. Commonfolk are not to leave the soil of Veehra, else they may wander too close to the sun god himself. That is to say, most are too scared to face Avva head-on, believing that his radiance will be far too seeing if they were to get too close. This tradition is enforced by the God-King, but has been lost to time in some of the furthest reaches of the cult. The Empire and its megastructure, however, appear to be favored by Avva, allowing them to harness his energy in exchange for an eternal watchful eye with no clouds to obstruct misdeeds. Resource On seasons of good harvest when the basin has been blessed by sorrowful slumbers of Avva, plenty of crops are available for export to nearby nations. Particularly common are flax, legumes, and leafy greens. However, the most abundant harvest tends to be the hardiest of them all, Sun-Kissed Maize (Fruits & Vegetables), a delectable corn-like crop known for its yellow and orange burst of color which does well even with a lack of rainfall. When heated, it pops off the cob. Unfortunately, the lands do not lend themselves well to resource extraction. In particular, Ores and Alloys are practically nonexistent and need to be imported from less blessed regions of Veehra for their use in construction, machinery, and weaponry.

Unfortunately, the local government appears hesitant to accept these beloved converts. Something about removing the free will of the people...? Who needs free will when Avva can judge your actions for you? Further, the Soom-Clan Marauders have taken it upon themselves to impose a military threat upon Avva's loyal followers... the oppression of this dedicated minority cannot be overlooked any longer. Okan Kiniun calls for an emergency use of the space fleet, demanding that all ships remain in orbit, to support this vital ground front. And who other than he would be fit for the job? His presence amidst the fleet would quell any doubt regarding its usage, for his word is absolute. [Military] Inquisition in Agbada (52) to increase Cult of Avva to Sole. Success! (16) The entire populace of Agbada now follows the teachings of the one true god, Avva. Worship is mandatory, and ambivalence is to be punished. Further, the God-King makes it clear that while the people should refrain from flying toward their god, traveling away from it may be necessary in this new world of Elect. To prove his point that space can be beneficial when used reverently, he leads the space front of the ongoing battles in a grand conclusion to the unsurprisingly unopposed Agbadan Inquisition. [Faith] Convert Region 53 to introduce a minority of Cult of Avva. Success! (14) [Faith] Seek Aid on Ground Front of Invasion of Region 56. Success! (13) Non-Actions: Hazardous Conditions Inspection - Allow an inspection - The delegation from the Workers' Union is brought into the capital to view Agbada's largest Sun-Kissed Maize packaging facility, where the corn is washed and wrapped in plastic for distrubution among the urban populace. A loyal Lion advisor to the throne, Lee Urion of House Kiniun, leads the tour, though is guided by an employee who knows the factory at a far more intimate level. The scent of bleach lingers in the air, suggesting that the equipment is commonly sterilized and washed. He assures the delegation that in spite of Agbada's record for being a bit rickety, workers are among the safest citizens because of the glass ceilings. By ensuring that Avva's watchful eye can see the factory workers, not one of them would dare cause incident, whether that be causing harm onto another or failing to submit the rarely needed injury reports (indeed, the Union would likely know at a surface level that Agbadans strongly believe their every action is judged while in sunlight). Resist all unauthorized actions.
