"I'll pass on that..." He thinks out loud, instead taking aim at the minions that had been ordered to run off with something or other. Shooting folks in the back wasn't below him if they were making off with something important or valuable right under his nose, neither was the use of poison, though he wasn't expecting to use it against other people when he was making it. And to be frank, as intimidating as this baddy seemed, he couldn't possibly protect all his men on his own... Catching cultists in the act and taking them out sounded like a sure fire way of making a name for himself, he wasn't about to let them slip away. Markus poured all his effort into his attack. If he could just take 1 of them out it could be useful in discovering the cult's identity, so he wasn't about to fail here. No matter which way you look, the descent from the precipice you're on is quite steep. Some sure footing or other means will be required to make the descent into the tundra region. It also feels as if the wind is getting stronger Overcome Athletics +3 to descend safely.

That light dead ahead, it's magic... May even be whoever is responsible for the summons and petrification. Put aside your grievances for a moment Olenna and work with us" Markus tries to reason with Olenna and stop her from rushing off on her own. "We should work together to spring a surprise attack before they pull off any other tricks..." He ends with calmly, hoping others would agree to strike first and ask questions later. He wasn't sure how much of this was getting through to Olenna as she maintained her quick pace towards the light source.

"Hey! Wait up, I think you're forgetting someone!" Quickly, Markus descended by rope and scrambles to catch up, not wanting to be left alone in the cyclops' dining room. Only slowing out of surprise at seeing the true nature of the figures they'd been wary of. There were more dangerous things than even the cyclops it seems, and they were rushing straight at it?

Soon after defeating the ruler of the marsh, the dense fog that had made it difficult to navigate slowly dissipated as if it were somehow related to the existence of the monster. The way forward to the Tundra now clear, everyone advances without any difficulty. Upon leaving the tree line you find yourself standing on a precipice overlooking the Phrygian Tundra. It was like climbing giant trees in a forest, something he'd done all too often. First, he made his way up the legs of a chair, then continued up the chair's back until he was able to get atop the table, which was strewn with bones and unidentifiable food scraps. It was quite an exhausting climb, though the vantage point would surely prove to be worthwhile in the off chance that the cloaked figures really were hostile. Perhaps they had the same objective, though they likely weren't going to cooperate if they really were the culprits from their earlier battle. Better to just follow and observe until they could determine if they were friend or foe.

The troll is pushing through the pain Success at a cost means PC's get the free invoke on this, though the troll will be able to continue fighting under aspects such as stun and paralysis.that had been inflected upon it in order to keep fighting, however its speed is even further reduced by this mental struggle.

He predicted where they would evade rather than where he thought they would be. Try as hard as he may, Markus was unable to pin down the mephits. "Right then... It's the darkness, they're so small and hard to see in the dark..." Markus uttered in embarrassment as his arrows all soared through empty air save for one that seemed to hit its mark by chance.

They were surprisingly evasive, as he'd just witnessed first hand, so it was probably better to hit them with a wider attack like a swing or blast, perhaps Vahn can try to cover more ground with his banishy magic if he attempts it again. Markus had recently seen a lot of undead creatures and even met a necromancer on a request which made him rather paranoid. So, as a precaution he had purchased some holy water at the marketplace beforehandSpent 1FP to declare story detail, adding holy water arrows to quiver of tricks. and imbued his arrows with it. Knowing the mephits were not of this world, they should be vulnerable to holy attacks. "Better be real holy water," Markus uttered to himself as he shot the imps in the air with great accuracy and speed, or so he thought... He'd actually only shot their shadowy afterimages. At the least, the creatures were being pressured into evasive action rather than full-on attacking.

Before it even had time to react to these circumstances, Aerith hit it in the eye with the necrotic needle. The troll roared in pain and anger yet again. Still wielding the tree it had uprooted earlier, the troll rushed at Aerith and swung the weapon at him in rage.

Markus nudged whoever was behind him without looking away from the creatures and pointed them out whispering, "Summoned creatures usually act upon orders, right? So as long as we don't chance upon the owner of them we should be fine... I think..."

Oh, fine then..." Markus sighs in disappointment. He'd wanted to descend into the crater for the chance of striking it rich, but he dares not make such a bold move without the backing of his party. He led the way over the bridge without another word, grumbling all the while; and annoyed by the humming kept looking for its source. He spots the figure ahead and thinks, "were they friend or foe? More likely the latter in such a place, but what were they waiting around for? Probably nothing good will come of this encounter."

Swamp Troll moves freely. Just when the troll thought it had escaped the lightning strikes from the storm, Olenna would strike it with a powerful lightning bolt directly from her blade. Furthermore, caltrops had started to rise from the ground wherever it went. The troll was used to being the aggressor, this was the first time it had been hunted and cornered to such an extent. The troll realized it needed to recuperate from all the incoming attacks somehow... It plunged its arms down into the ground and focused on shaping and molding the earth. The boggy forest floor around it seemed to bubble and morph and then suddenly rose up on all sides forming a large circular dome of mud which quickly began to harden into a solid defensive structure to block any further incoming lightning attacks and break line of sight with its aggressors. The dome seems to be large enough for the troll to freely swing his makeshift weapon around if someone enters.

Markus grinned as he confidently walked the ledge paying it not much mind. No sooner had he uttered the words did he stumble, nearly falling into the chasm. He instinctively threw his arms back to try and regain his balance and Vahn yanked him back to safety instantly as if he already knew this was going to happen. "Perhaps it was time to quit fooling around," he thought to himself. Catching his breath, Markus thanked Vahn for the hand.

Swamp Troll moves freely. The troll moved surprisingly fast through the water when Aerith tried to hit it with the glowing red rib, so he only managed to graze it and pass on part of the curse. The troll hardly seemed to notice, rather it was more concerned with escaping the water. It made for the boggy forest to seek shelter from the sudden storm. Then, seeing the lone adventurer, Aerith, now standing alone near the water's edge, the troll was convinced that this was the one to blame for the lightning. The troll stomped over to a thin white cedar tree which was slightly taller than the troll itself was and with little effort uprooted it.

You can probably imagine how invaluable that would be for someone like me." Markus responded to Vahn. His interest in the pilgrim grew tremendously. "Well, we've got some general maps that the miners would use when they come in here. I'll keep track of our path so we need not worry about getting lost. However, the dangerous branches in the mine are unmapped, that's when I really come in and do some work." "I'm sure the mining guild will pay a fortune to find out what resources are down there. Say, are you able to find gems and such with your ability too?" He asked with excitement, quickly forgetting the main reason they'd come here for. Markus looks through the mining supplies for a light source, preferably lanterns with a shade that they could adjust to lower the light so as not to make themselves a giant beacon for the cyclops. Looking at the two paths available, Markus thinks it would be a better idea to take the foul-smelling passage, "though the footing is more treacherous in some parts, at least we'll be able to fight with more ease out in the open as opposed to the cramped tunnels don't you think?" He remarked.
