  1. Yeah I'm just now starting to get back into PbP and gaming in general after a year+ break. The slowness of PbP works with my schedule, in fact work's decided to crank it up to 11 leading up to our 4/25 deadline. To parody Fallout: "Work...work never changes..." I agree, hoping Laird_Thorne's just swamped. I believe I recall a post about schedule being hectic at times and I can definitely relate.
  2. Here as well. Threw out some questions in the session 0 thread if anyone has any ideas
  3. Anyone have any thoughts on the above Characters & Relationships? Based on our discussions in the OOC thread, decision making sounds more group than individual. Maybe Alex (or Daniel Perez) organizes the discussion but in the end it's majority rule. Any thoughts on rivals? Sounds like Alex is at least a little resented for his position before the end. Maybe he needs to prove himself to others in this new world? Any ideas on either internal conflicts or external ones that might be interesting to deal with? Or do we want to see what troubles come up that could lead to those issues? is there anything here that would be especially helpful to you in starting off the game?
  4. My top 2 are Achtung! Cthulhu 2d20 which is pulp World War 2 action against Nazi secret organizations and the Cthulhu mythos and the Western/horror mix of Deadlands. Ones I have but haven't had the chance to play an actual game of yet are Cohorts of Cthulhu (similar to Achtung! above but set in the Roman Empire) and City of Mist which is noir detective mixing magic/powers/legendary characters.
  5. Awesome, so are we ready to start adding all this on the Session 0 thread?
  6. Alex's political connections snagged him a spot on the 2022 Caddyshack Charity Golf Tournament where he actually got to meet Bill Murray. Caddyshack was always one of his favorite movies; he watched it at a friend's house when he was 12, his father would never have allowed him to see it at home. He got a picture with Bill there, dressed in an outlandish golf shirt, that Bill signed afterwards and has always kept it in his wallet Cool that opens up some opportunity for an out-of-the-blue Bill Murray movie quote just to make folks pause and think, "What the...did he just say that??"
  7. Scavenging roll Scavenging roll 113 -> Celebrity autograph Hmmm, might need to think about that one
  8. Hehe I'm imagining something along the lines of: Alex - "I...I'm sorry I thought I could...they said either we send a weekly shipment of food or they'll come for us." Jaxon, patting Alex on the shoulder (dismissively honestly), "Okay Daniel," as in Daniel Boone, "your way didn't work; we're gonna do this the hard way." <Cassius cracks his knuckles in the background /> Nice idea, let's say there's just something small she does, maybe tucking her hair behind her ear occasionally or how she tilts her head and squints when she doesn't understand what someone's saying. Nothing that anyone else would think twice about but it's something that triggers a memory in Alex of one of his daughters having a similar mannerism. Betty and Denise don't do it so Alex doesn't get the same around them. I would say he hasn't talked to Cadey about it yet, at best she's noticed his face falling after they've talked as he's turning away....just that split second so maybe she's not even sure if she's really seeing anything or not. Maybe something will happen and he'll share more with her; possible bonding moment.
  9. So question for everyone: if no one really likes/trusts Boone all that much, why would he be the leader? There's no law that says he needs to be just because he has good people skills. Rick was a lawman but he was the leader in the original story. If he is the "leader" then is it because he's just proactive about organizing? Motivating? Just keeps pestering...no pretty sure that would lead to violence. Folks have said they'll follow him for the time being, just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on a "why". If he's not the leader, who should it be? I feel like Jaxon and Fleur could be strong candidates. Then again, maybe we don't need a designated leader. It's a small group, maybe so far it's just been decisions by consensus? Thoughts?
  10. Happy to join everyone, my 1st game on this site. Looking forward to it Cassius Clay III - Cassius' no-nonsense attitude sits well with Alex, he's someone to count on to get things done and his size is, frankly, reassuring. But it does seem best to be careful not to antagonize the man Cadence "Cadey" Sawyer - Her drive to make sure the group doesn't fall apart would appeal to Alex, but when he's around her he can't help but think how his own daughters will never reached her age. Too soon Deano Alexander - So my 1st thought was imagining Alex repeatedly trying to connect to Deano but to date the man's distrust of strangers just hasn't been cracked. Could be some occasional fun, awkward moments. But if Alex is Deano's Anchor maybe they've gotten past that and Alex sees the man as one of the protectors of the group. Fleur LeBlanc - Alex wants to believe that life can go on...desperately. Here's a woman who lays out the breadcrumb of things that will make that possible. Need X so we can have Y? That would be great, we should do that! She's someone who can be a big source of hope for Alex. Her past? Seriously, he's dealt with politicians, CEOs, billionaires and religious charlatans. The Cajun and her kin were kind of amatuers. Jaxon Josef Goss III - Jaxon's past doesn't bother Alex, this is a new world, the old one is dead. But Alex gets the feeling Jax is holding on to some the old social class resentments. So he gives the man some space but that could be misinterpreted... Wow, I think Fleur's going to be Alex's PC Anchor. Daniel Perez will be his NPC Anchor.
  11. Is the goal to be a team? Should we reserve points for comm units, vehicle, base, etc?
  12. Some games have crunch. But Champions (and GURPS too) has CRUNCH!! I haven't played in years, it's not the easiest to run in PbP but I ran a Fantasy Hero game set in Hyperboria years ago on a different site and it was a lot of fun. Nice to see some Hero System love
