  1. Round 7 The Biarbu Society [The Shadow of the Flock] Region(s): 6 Actions: [Intrigue] Secret Action [-2 Treasure] The Shadow of the Flock wanes then grows again. [Faith] Convert R7 to (Plurality) Soul's Fascination (16) [+1 Size Bonus] Fate's path suffices the soul. [Faith] Convert R12 to (Majority) Soul's Fascination (18) [+1 Size Bonus] Neo Guleum and it's Fascination with money can please the soul. [Faith] Convert R87 to (Minority) to Soul's Fascination (17) [+1 Size Bonus] The eyes of the Patriarch gaze upon the Space-Kelp Cluster. No one knows why. Perhaps the Face of the Flock wants a vacation spot? Regardless of the truth, some Biarbu are sent out to the area for a more permanent stay. [Faith 10] Miracle - Soul's Fascination (semi-approved) Sometimes, the greatest changes that happen out in the worlds come from within. Sometimes, what comes from within, can help us to see the changing of faiths. The Face of the Flock meets with leadership from Soul's Expression, and finds much in common. Near the end of the year of 2052, Soul's Expression and Fascination formally merge their two faiths! Within the next two years, the Acting Patriarch and various Primes are established. Primes are sent to various Elect nations to request to be invited to update doctrines. Those that accept find that the merger is easy. Those that decline... are left alone. It would seem that the Acting Patriarch advocates peace when interacting with other Elect. The Merging of Faiths All NPC regions with either Fascination or Soul's Expression become Soul's Fascination All Owned Regions with either Fascination or Soul's Expression become Soul's Fascination, if the region owner non-actions acceptance of the merger As part of the above non-action, a player may Adopt the new Faith if they were previously following Soul's Expression or Fascination If the region owner doesn't non-action acceptance, then the next Conversion from either Fascination or Soul's Expression will upgrade to a Soul's Fascination. Regions that have both Fascination and Soul's Expression in them when the merge to Soul's Fascination occurs move up a step [Minor to Plurality, Plurality to Major, or even Major to Sole though the latter requires there are no other faiths in the region]. For NPC regions, this happens automatically. For owned regions, this increase in step requires an additional non-action acceptance. A player may non-action the merge to Soul's Fascination without accepting the increased Size, but may not non-action the increase Size step without first accepting the merge. As a non-action of the Miracle, the Size 5 bonus is +1 Buyouts As a non-action of the Miracle, the Size 10 bonus is +1 Conversions As a non-action of the Miracle, the Size 20 bonus is 2d8 Resist Conversions Soul of Ophon Soul's Fascination, Detailed: (This section mostly written by Serak) Soul’s Fascination: The Biarbu and the Jy’mar realize that their faiths are different sides of the same coin. One’s path through life is Fated and continued acceptance and self realization of your place in the world. With the addition of more and more faithful the leaders of both convened to discuss what they truly believe and codify both religions into a combined entity. Fascination is a simplified phrase for the observance of Fate. Be it something as simple as watching the dice fall to see what numbers occur, something more personal like accepting what has happened outside of your control, or far more difficult: nudging the outcome of a complex issue in some way, just to see what happens or to progress your Fate in the direction of one’s Path. It is the ultimate Fascination of the Soul that drives one to improvement on your fated path. If one seeks out the purest form of their Soul's Fascination they will no doubt find self-improvement and obtain enlightenment on their path and their place in the observance of Fate. The Paths of Fascination speak of how improved one has become toward being an ultimate paragon of the Soul and mastery and acceptance of one's Fate. Tenants of the Soul: Oh great sage, what is to be this one’s fate? What has happened, happened. The past cannot be changed and we can only accept it. We learn from our failures and continue our Path. We are all part of the Dance of Destiny. Sometimes we dance together, sometimes we dance apart. The Random Will of the Cosmos and our fated paths has us dancing together even if we can’t hear the music. Respect the Fate of others. Acting, or not acting, upon someone else’s Fate intertwined them with yours. After all, consequences are a form of destiny all on their own. Coincidences occur everywhere, delightfully Observe the now when you can, to take it all in. The past is, indeed, immutable; the die has been cast and those roads now trod. We can enjoy the fall and the spin to appreciate not just what was but what is now. What will happen, takes effort The most difficult of steps for those that are Fascinated is learning how to effect change. While some may call it Luck, you can choose to be in positions and places that make yourself far more likely to be ‘Lucky’. Improvement cannot be gained without risk or effort. Paths of Fascination: Do not ask me about your fate. I don’t know. I barely know what mine is. Discovering it is part of the path. Realization The first checkmark of the Paths is recognized when one has determined what their Soul’s Fascination is. This is considered the most frustrating part of the Paths as many have issues finding what it is they are truly called to do, which path to follow and begin learning how to effect change and the effort involved. Actualization The second checkmark of the Paths is recognized when one is able to materialize what the Fascination of their Soul is. Be it art, plays, warfare, dancing, oration or leading. Many stay in this stage most of their life not striving for higher goals of effecting change and putting in the effort to improve further. Mastery The final checkmark is when one is able to perfectly display their Soul’s Fascination and teach others on their path of fascination. In few cases people of exceptional passions who have learned how to make themselves ‘Lucky’ will master multiple Fascinations of the Soul in their lifetime, reflecting the power of their improvement. Role of the Patriarch: While all adherents of the Tenents are accepted and tolerated, some Paths of Fascination are more contradictory toward others and involve themselves more in the Fate of others. While adherents are told to accept others as they are and take responsibility for the intertwining of their Fates, the more disruptive paths are more monitored by the Patriarch and the Primes. The Patriarch acts as the ultimate governing body over the followers of the faith while being the final adjudication on issues related to the Tenents of the Soul and the Paths of Fascination. A group of recognized Primes help in the load of initial adjudication but petition to have your issue heard by the Patriarch is respected. The Patriarch reigns in the more 'disruptive' of the members to try and find where they can fit into the Random Will of the Cosmos. “The Hurdle of Fate is Steep.” ― Jungyeong Cheok "It's Still Just a Hurdle no matter how high it is. If push comes to shove, I can bust it down." ― Dokja, the Ugliest King Omniscient Reader, by singNsong Non-Actions: Support conversion of any owned regions to Fascination. Contest all other faiths. Coronal Catalogue of Duelists Basic Information on The Dueling Styles of the Biarbu Dueling is a proud tradition for those whom serve within the local Society defense forces. Such militant minded Biarbu are far more likely to duel amongst themselves to resolve lesser disputes, while bigger disputes that effect more than just themselves are often settled by local governance. Among the Society members, however, there are a variety of styles for personal combat, including but not limited to: Cloud Drifting, Feather Twist, Dancing Talons, and of course, Zhao Do-Jung. While it is uncommon for Biarbu to duel other species, it is not unheard of. Still, this is a risk, as while Biarbu wingspans are large, their overall body mass is comparatively lesser than that of the average humanoid. As such, when a duelist must interact with a non-Biarbu duelist in their mutual chosen profession, there is a specific style that has been developed to utilize a Biarbu's advantage. Incorporating many of the militant maneuvers taught by Zhao Do-Jung, the Ho Niao Daija is the style to trade pointers with non-Biarbu. Translated into Imperial, Ho Niao Daija means Fire Bird Fights. It utilizes a Biarbu's natural gifts for flight to take to the highest of grounds; the sky itself. There are many techniques to the style overall, but the more basic techniques unique to this style are as follows: Fire Bird's Greed A maneuver that 'steals' a weapon from another, usually tossing it out of the dueling ring. The more skilled duelists can also incapacitate any item their opponents may have on their personages. Commonly used to maintain aerial superiority. Fire Bird's Punishment A striking technique with the Biarbu duelist's talons. Not to be confused with a common dive, as the more skilled duelists can inflict multiple strikes in a single dive. Fire Bird's Laughter A defensive shift within the air, this skill often makes the Biarbu appear to be shaking with glee, even as they continue to dodge whatever might be coming their way. Rumors suggest that those who master their Laughter are near impossible to hit, even on the ground. Fire Bird's Dignity A parrying maneuver for the rare times when a Biarbu is stuck upon the ground. More skilled users can not only inflict damage on their opponents, but also use this technique to launch themselves back into the sky. For more details regarding Ho Niao Daija or, indeed, the other common dueling techniques not used against non-Biarbu, please submit an additional formal request to Shungzing Fung. The show Wakinyan Ascending takes over the former time slot, to rave reviews. The message received from Coedd comes as a bit of a surprise to the Face of the Flock, whom has been named 'Acting Patriarch' of Soul's Fascination; simply awaiting a formal coronation of sorts to achieve final recognition. With the Coedd stating that the Nine-Year Agreement was breached, the Biarbu leadership is quite befuddled, as they do not feel any breach occurred. Using diplomatic channels to convey this, a meeting is set up with a neutral moderator - a friendly face from the Arkhive - and it is quickly determined that this is a linguistic issue. The nuances of the word 'proselytize' have ever so slight different meanings between the Coedd and the Biarbu, due in part to linguistic drift and cultural differences. The matter is written off - at least by the Face of the Flock - as a hilarious joke of communication, and by mutual comprehension, the agreement is resumed. 4. Silver Hotel, VIP Lounge Ben Ying didn't even blink at the human gesture of a hand shake. The Biarbu recognized it for what it was: sealing the bargain that had just been struck. Thankfully, the chair the Hotel owner sat upon allowed for a return gesture, awkward though it may have looked to outsiders. Raising a leg with a claw on it, Ben Ying lightly grasped hands with the Coedd messenger, before letting go and responding, "No, nothing more. Now, this one needs to see to other guests. Please, sit back and have a drink or two." So saying, the black plumed Biarbu stood up, clicked the privacy screen off with a wingtip, and flowed out of the booth. "The Biarbu are sadly unaware of any additional information, though if we find something, we shall be sure to inform the appropriate representatives of the Castaways of the Loop." Ben Ying's eyes flickered to one side, gazing away from the conversation. Whether it was to consider the situation more, or if they were actually looking at something only they could see, it was impossible to tell. Still, after a moment, the hotel owner says, "This one knows that the government will be preoccupied for a few years, consolidating the burgeoning faith that others are beginning to experience regarding the Fascination of Fate. Combine that with the overwhelming desire to know what is beyond Mekhala, and it is with some regret that this one must inform Brother Todd and Sister Rhonda that our immediate efforts to ascertain the mysteries you have posed are going to be delayed, considerably, if you are requesting our help." "A request that we would normally be keen to answer, mind, but not right now." There is a minor nod of respectful regret, before Ben Ying continues, "Unless, of course, the Loop is willing to offer some form of incentive to redirect our efforts away from our immediate concerns?" "Please understand, this one asks this not as a condition for receiving our aid; again, were we not otherwise occupied, this line of inquiry would garner our interest greatly. Instead, the desire for incentive is merely to aid discussions amongst Biarbu to push for a more comprehensive investigation in the coming years." OOC to Snark Happy to help investigate, if that's what you're hoping for, but I've got a lot going on for the BRB this round and the next. I could maybe slot in an Investigation roll next round, but it would be pulling away from other things I am considering doing, so you'll need to offer me something to make it worth my time. Failing that, you'll have to wait a few rounds before I'm free to act as I work to grind towards a sixth action. The Casino Floor, Elsewhere... The live stream of the buffet was fulfilling. Both for everyone watching, and also Yun Chi's stomach. So many varieties of edibles! Yet, after several hours of gorging themselves, Yun Chi could no longer contain the excitement to go and use their chits in the last game they hadn't yet played: Unlucky 13. Yun Chi knew this was the hardest game to win, but... fortune favors the bold. So while Yun Chi was almost out of chits, they approached the roulette table, and observed for a bit. 7, 12, 3, 18... they all popped up. Yun Chi couldn't continue to stall, though. Placing their largest bet yet - 500 chits! - and going Double or Nothing for the fans watching, Yun Chi put everything they could on number 4! DoubleOrNothing (+Intrigue) Roulette500num4 The ball bounced, rolled, and at last, stuttered to a stop... on 9️⃣. Yet... Yun Chi was not disappointed. Their side bet was still successful! And while this might be the last game for the stream, Yun Chi still could see they were going to leave the Casino with more than they started with! (BRB +750)
  5. Silver Hotel, VIP Lounge The hotel owner gives a small bow, acknowledging the praise for doing their job. In response to the obvious question about the local faith, Ben Ying says, "Fascination amongst Biarbu is often personal; not that we won't share it if asked, but the majority of Biarbu find the experience more spiritual instead of religious. However, if Honored Pako would like to speak with a spiritual advisor of the faith, you are in luck. Just out on the Casino floor is the Face of the Flock, the best being to discuss the more religious aspects of Fascination. If you tell High Elder Pung Neow that Brother Ben Ying sent you, this one is certain you will be provided with a memorable conversation." At that moment, a waiter arrived with a Lotus board, and at Ben Ying's nod, placed it on the table, setting the pieces before standing right behind the hotel owner and whispering something into their ear. With a nod, Ben Ying gave a casual wave, and the waiter stepped back, not leaving the booth area. "The Biarbu behind me is Wan Jia. They occasionally play Lotus, but mostly assist in helping keep the VIP Lounge operating. Wan Jia has informed me that we are not so busy that this humble host cannot continue to personally see to your needs, though it will have to be just the one game. If something pressing does present itself, Wan Jia will step in to continue the game." "For now, though, shall we play?" "Oh, we can be quite friendly, have no worries of this." Ben Ying leaned back and relaxed. "From this offer alone, the Coedd have this one's interest, far more than it did before." "It is friendly interest only, though. Respect for a peer. You show much face to bring this offer to us, and the stipulations placed before you are themselves our careful measure to show the same degree of integrity. As the light of Ophon shines on us all, there are still places it cannot reach, for there are those who stand in the way. You neither block the light nor cast the shadow upon us with this offer, but we must both be very careful that as we dance, we remember that Fate is not always kind, and our goals will not always align. Discourse and discussion at those points are the way to continue to show face... but if you continue to be uncertain, we could arrange for specific times to have representatives meet and request a chance to alter our agreement. Nine is a good number among the Biarbu. Say then, nine years? Let us see how well you dance for nine years, and we can reconvene after that to rearrange what needs doing."
  6. Silver Hotel, VIP Lounge Sitting down and leaning back into the stool that conformed to their Biarbu body-type easily, Ben Ying ensured that the privacy screen was active while they contemplated a response. "As a local citizen of Badal, this one is of course familiar with many of the issues that plague the Bironian Bulwark. It is of some significant interest to Society leadership, not to mention there's a certain level of - perhaps grim - entertainment in it for our Nests. To try and explain Biarbu views of exterior politics as interior amusement would be a fruitless endeavor. Just know that our views - our perspectives - are quite different." "And also know, Brother Todd," the blue eyed Biarbu stared at the man in the leather jacket, "that Treasurer Boyin was very much not removed by the current Chairman's orders. It was simple mutiny, and nothing more. You are respected amongst the Biarbu for being inquisitive and trying to understand the flow of fate. The Treasurer was not respected. He would not have understood that sometimes fate - and inconvenient Treasurers - require a... push. Because of that push, this one is currently pleased with the direction that the current Bironian Bulwark is heading, even if it is a bit more volatile then some may like. Again: our perspectives would likely differ." Tail feathers fluttering behind themselves, Ben Ying nodded slowly, thoughtfully, "This one tells you all of this not to offend your sensibilities, but to agree with you: you need a new perspective. Though this one today is nothing more than a humble hotel owner, there are greater viewpoints that the Biarbu can see, at times. Your suspicions regarding the Khylokians is accurate. The Biarbu Society watches them eagerly. They attracted our interest some years ago, and now hopefully the Bloodlord better understands what that means. What happened in Kildora does not fit with what we know about them, which is why we are pleased to hear that you hope to exonerate them." "Which, it would seem, brings us to your inquiries. You suspect someone of the same level of play as the Elect causing interferences - moving pieces not meant to be moved - but the way you phrased it... seems to suggest it is not the Elect. That's... an interesting idea. And a delightfully scary one. "The stars in the sky do not care if there are clouds, but the one trying to see those stars certainly does. One wonders now: is this new player trying to move the clouds, or change the stars? The former requires patience. The latter requires miracles. And miracles require effort." "Effort. Well. That requires money. As the ancestors say: Even Ophon needs to eat." "Delightful. There is but one more concern that comes to mind: the sharing of information." Ben Ying's gaze does not leave the Coedd messenger. "This one does not speak of such things that can be found in the Arkhive. No. Instead, it is a matter of professionalism. Should the Coedd desire to work outside the confines of Sansar, but remain within the confines of the agreement, by your own suggestion, you will be required to inform us of the job you want done. If the Biarbu decline the job, it would be unprofessional to take action to hinder the completion of that job; including warning those whose interests directly run counter to the task ahead. And we would expect the same level of respect from the Coedd, were the roles reversed on Sansar." "This of course, seems obvious." Ben Ying's plumage flattened itself as their long neck leaned across the table. "Agreements such as these, though, often require the obvious to be stated. If for no other reason than to provide the challenge to find what else wasn't said. So be very sure you are happy with how things are worded. The Coedd have invited the Biarbu to dance. And Fate ever so loves a show." Black Bird, Table 1a, Casino Floor So many Black Birds in such a short time. Sha Ren's talons ticked against the table, summoning their supervisor to come look. The larger, darker plumed Biarbu's name tag read 'Mar Lan' and their eyes were a bright green. Leaning over the dealer's retracted wings, the pit boss glanced at the table, nodded, and was off to continue to survey other guests. "Honored guests, you have received so many blessings already. Here is hoping that your providence remains!" So saying, Sha Ren turns over their face down card: the 8 of comets. Sha Ren then deals themselves another card. BlackBirdDealer3 The four of stars. Not enough for the Dealer to stop. BlackBirdDealer4 The ten of edicts, leaving Sha Ren with well over twenty one. "The Dealer's fate is overpowered by your own. Well played." Grabbing all the cards, it takes a moment for Sha Ren to pay out all the winners. (COE +1000) (ELD +250) (LSP -150) (CUS +600) The Boarding-Walk Yun Chi was encouraged to take a break. While the Biarbu hated to look like they were retreating, the producer in their ear reminded them they had not eaten in several hours. As the food was free - for Yun Chi! - it made sense to lazily fly along the Boarding-Walk, looking for something to eat. And perhaps find someone to talk to that wasn't chirping in their ear...
  7. Casino Floor, Elsewhere... Yun Chi refused to give up. This game was one that could be won, they were sure of it. And so, with the encouragement of those watching weighing upon them, Yun Chi gave the game another 300 chits, and rolled the dice once more. PathOfDestiny300 The producer crooned in excitement at Yun Chi's success, and a feeling of warmth filled the Biarbu. It was truly a blessing of Fate! Now, however, was the difficult question. Yun Chi was not blind to the chances. Only one in six to achieve the full payout. It was just as likely that the Path would continue as it was for it to begin, but to risk it further, or settle back to where Yun Chi was before starting along this Path to Destiny? Decisions, decisions! Again, there would be no more chits for Yun Chi if they ran out. Was now the time, though? To roll the dice and watch them fall, for good or for ill, was... Fascinating... Yun Chi could not tear their eyes away as they rolled once more, looking for the '5' they would need. PathAgain Yun Chi stared. It was not to be. A '2' was not what they wanted. Still, they had made the roll, and could not look away. Standing up, Yun Chi backed away, and bowed to the machine, before racing off to find their next game, where hopefully their luck would turn! (BRB -300) Ben Ying nodded politely. "We had to be sure. As mentioned, we do not judge." With a wave of their feathers, and a demonstration of masterful control of the console, the button for service was soon pressed. Yet, only seconds later, without the order being actually taken by the server, they arrive with two cups, and a tea pot full of something sweet smelling, almost floral. Ben Ying precedes to pour on behalf of their guest. "Polite discourse is something this one would be pleased to provide to any guest. Sadly, our duties would not allow a truly worthy game of Lotus to be played while we talked, but we could call over someone skilled at it for you to play against while we chatted, if that would suffice. And then, should duty call, you would still have your amusement and a conversation partner." The tea, when poured, is just barely finished boiling, yet the heat only adds to the aroma. "Please, though you have requested it to be hot, this one advises you to let it cool, if but for only a moment. It will add to the overall flavor if the Bu-kah Doduh is allowed to steep fully in the mixing air of both hot and cold. Flowers, as you might imagine, are quite difficult to come by in Badal; nearly as rare as those in Mekhala. So only the patient truly can appreciate the flavor... but the impatient will find they have missed their chance to maximize the taste. It is a delicate balance."
  8. The Silver Hotel, The VIP Lounge "Here at the Silver Hotel, and elsewhere in Shiwa Yun, we keep watch on all things..." Ben Ying pauses, and for a moment, it's as though that is the end of the sentence, then it continues, "...interesting." "So your reputation first came to those who collate such data from the time spent in the Elven Conclave a few years ago. We receive regular reports on such individuals every few years, as it is a struggle to keep up to date information without local aid," The hotel owner actually does pause here and off the Flightmaster a significant look. How Pako chooses to interpret this is up to him. "As to your inquiries regarding etiquette within the booths," the black plumed Biarbu points at the buttons on the table, "this closes off the booth for sound dampening. It's not perfect, as shouting will still create some noise, but for quiet conversations, it will be you, those sitting in the booth, and the table. And the table won't be revealing any secrets. This button will signal the servers to come inquire about refreshments, while the one opposite it will decline further service while it is active; any non-staff member whom gets too close to the booth while this has been pressed will be politely encouraged to move along, and staff members won't be staying close either or they will no longer be staff members." "As for enjoyable company. That depends on the kind you are looking for. Polite discussion, or - as your student is occupied and you find yourself free of their gaze - perhaps something more... intimate? This one assures you, we do not judge." Bowchi Juh bows, and leads Rhonda and her bodyguard to an unoccupied booth. "It may be some time, madam, before the hotel owner is free, but when they are, this one is sure they will be more than pleased to speak with you as well. Until then, please order drinks for yourself and your entourage; on the house, we insist." Again bowing, Juh gives a careful nod to Rhonda's bodyguard before saying, "And please honored guest, do be careful with the smoke. We would not want to disturb others enjoyment of this day." Later... Ben Ying was busier than planned, but in a good way. This gathering of important individuals was amusing, to say the least. And now, they would speak with Rhonda 49199. An investigative celebrity in recent years. Yes, more gatherings like this would be needed in the future, if only for the break from the tedium. Arriving at Rhonda's booth, Ben Ying tapped politely on the privacy screen; whether it was active or not, it didn't matter. Decorum required politeness. "This one is Ben Ying, a humble hotel owner. We are given to understand you wished to speak with us, Sister Rhonda? Oh, and is that Brother Todd this one sees there as well? We did not receive a very good picture of him in our gathering of reports, so do forgive this Biarbu if we have misidentified you. Our information has Brother Todd as... much taller." Ben Ying leaned in closer to the table, wingtips tapping upon it like human fingers might. "Allow me to see if this one understands the proposal of the Coedd: You wish the Biarbu to stay off Sansar, and in return, Coedd will remain solidly on the planet, seeking to establish and maintain it's power only on the planet. And in the instances where this is not true, we would utilize each other's abilities, instead of tripping over the other." "If that is the sum of it, it does sound appealing." The black plumed Biarbu beings to slowly nod in thought, almost agreeing. "What of instances where we are invited? To be clear: this invitation would be different than a simple party like we find ourselves in now. No, this one means if an Elect allows the... visit?" "Also, all of non-Sansar is quite a bit of territory. We appreciate that the Coedd can see how our two Fates are similar, but if this agreement binds the Biarbu to always do whatever the Coedd wish when the Coedd desires to act outside Sansar, then instead of a boon, this becomes a bane. We instead suggest a first-right of refusal for both parties. The offer to do the work is the important part. If accepted, the other party will complete the desired job. If rejected, it also constitutes permission to work outside the bounds of this agreement, so long as we retain non-interference." Black Bird, Table 1a, Casino Floor Sha Ren again reclaimed the cards, and shuffled the deck, before dealing out a hand to each player. Once more, they bowed and tapped the table with their beak. In front of them were two cards, one face down. BlackBirdDealer The face up card was the 3️⃣ of edicts. There would be at least one more card drawn, possibly two.
  9. Black Bird, Table 1a, Casino Floor The Dealer, Sha Ren, was ever patient. Still, to see a Black Bird to equal a twenty at the table, followed by the ever rare Twenty-One was something to be joyous about. With a nod to the Dhoaine winner, Sha Ren awaited all remaining player's decisions, and then again tapped the table with their beak. It made the appropriate noise, while also causing Sha Ren to bow in front of their guests. Dealing another card, Sha Ren slowly looked to see what destiny had in store. BlackBirdDealer1 7️⃣ A 7 of stars. Flipping over their hidden card, Sha Ren revealed the 4 of consorts. With that, Sha Ren's hand was the 4 of consorts, the 5 of edicts, and the 7 of stars. In other words, a 16 total. Another card would be drawn, and would be the last. BlackBirdDealer2 The 4 of edicts. This provided a total of 20. With a sad smile towards the Llort player and the player from Caipe Ushere, Sha Ren divided the chits appropriately. A loss for those two, a push for her Arkhival Majesty, and a resounding victory for the Dhaoine. (ARK +0) (CUD -150) (LSP -200) (ELD +1000) Casino Floor, Elsewhere... Having finally won, Yun Chi almost put back in more chits to see if the blessings of fortune would continue. A small chirp from the producer urged them to move on to elsewhere though; Biarbu who were not as lucky as Yun Chi wanted to see other games. It was, of course, Yun Chi's choice. Yet... they had to admit, they were also curious about playing other games. Yun Chi decided to heed the request, and gave a formal bow to The Chosen Ones machine. An external camera recorded them doing so. The slot machine said nothing in return. It was, after all, a machine. Yun Chi felt silly doing it as soon as it was done, but What has happened, happened. Now Yun Chi would either have to play it off as a one time joke or accept it, and lean into it. The latter would be far more amusing! Perhaps Yun Chi would bow to every machine they played at! Yes. This was decided. It would happen. Spying a 'Path of Destiny' machine, Yun Chi continued to push their luck, and fed the machine with 300 chits. PathOfDestiny300 Failure. This was not the Path to Yun Chi's destiny. Still, it was not a total loss either. (BRB -150 Chits) The VIP Lounge Within the Silver Hotel, on the first floor, was a cordoned off area. Part bar, each of the booths were large encircled tables of various heights, with not only the stools that conformed to their sitter's species, but also privacy screens that damped sound to an almost shocking amount. Each table became it's own little world. There were even small buttons upon the table; ones that took actual weight to manipulate, but once pressed, could signal outside the privacy screen if the guests inside wanted to order... or to be left alone. Standing just beyond the entrance, at the podium typically reserved for the maître de, was a tall and lean Biarbu with the deepest of black plumage. So dark was its coloration, that it seemed to swallow the light around it. If it were not for the stunning blue eyes and shock yellow beak, as well as the perfectly white bow-tie around their neck, guests might be convinced that the Biarbu was not even their at all. The Biarbu held themselves in an almost regal manner, however, that immediately dispelled that notion. While there was very little to see, the sheer presence exuding from the black plumed Biarbu still caught the eye. Perhaps this was the maître de, but from the name badge that floated just below the bow tie, it was unlikely. It read: Ben Ying ----------- Owner The Hotel Owner themselves greeted VIP guests, and sat them at their private tables, unless they requested to speak with a specific individual. If that individual acquiesced to the request, Ben Ying accommodated. Or at least, that was the plan. Yet, as is often the case, plans fall apart, and a new path forwards must be found. Coincidences occur everywhere, delightfully; so said the tenants, and it was something that at least made Ben Ying's life interesting. For the first thing that happened was that Bowchi Juh arrived, escorting one of the Coedd. The Jiowchu blinked out a quick silent code - messenger - that Ben Ying did not acknowledge. They didn't have to. Bowchi Juh was sure that Ben Ying had seen it, and to react would be to confirm that it was a code. 'Blink' was an inefficient language, and none to subtle if there were suddenly many Biarbu blinking all at once at each other. It remained a coded language... for now... because of it's inefficiency and lack of use elsewhere. Ben Ying was thinking of changing it soon. Still, it was better then the 'Tap Code' which would reveal a being's position even as they informed others of what they knew. After the Coedd walked past - straight to the bar - a Llort arrived. While it was near impossible to identify the Coedd, and might, in fact, be rude to try, considering their culture seemed to have very little individualism, the Llort was a different matter. Ben Ying thought this might be Flightmaster Pako; someone the Biarbu had started getting reports about at least as early as the Elven Conclave. In fact, Ben Ying was so sure of their identification, they took a chance and addressed them as such, "Flightmaster Pako? This one greets you, and invites you to relax within our Lounge. Allow this humble host to show you to a table." Doing so, Ben Ying blinked back towards Bowchi Juh - who had stayed to keep an eye on the Coedd - to take over at the podium. The Jiowchu immediately understood, as Ben Ying knew they would, and this allowed Ben Ying to guide their guest to a private booth. "You are Flightmaster Pako, yes?" Meanwhile... Bowchi Juh guarded the host podium, and was therefore the second - besides the guards in front of the doors letting people in or discouraging them from entering - to notice the arrival of the Castaways. Bowchi Juh had no idea whom this serious looking individual with the cigar was - as Jiowchu, Juh would know all important people that the Biarbu were aware of - but the guards had let him through, so he must have the appropriate invitation. A second later, however, the man in the strange leather jacket was followed by a woman in a long tweed coat; not just any woman, but Rhonda 49199! It suddenly made sense to Bowchi Juh. Rhonda was here, and this man was her body guard. Bowing to Rhonda, Bowchi Juh spoke, "Welcome to the Silver Hotel, Rhonda 49199. Even here in Shiwa Yun, we have heard of your recent investigation into the supposed raid on New Kildora. It is our honor to have you here. May this one take you and your entourage to a private booth?" A little later... After a conversation with the Llort representative, Ben Ying exited the privacy booth, and was about to retake position at the podium, when the Coedd approached. As Bowchi Juh had hinted at, the Coedd was a messenger. "Indeed? Well, this one is unsure how a humble hotel owner can be of aid to the Coedd, but if it is the desire of a guest, please allow Ben Ying to listen. Follow." Leading the Coedd to yet another privacy booth, Ben Ying waited their entry, and then tapped the table to both activate privacy and notify servers that they were not to be disturbed. "Now, this one is interested and you have our attention. Speak your message."

  11. Silver Hotel, Two Floors Below the Penthouse Bowchi Juh was Zheannow. Not just any Zheannow, though, but one of the eight Jiowchu; and should one of the two Jian Ban that serve directly under the Shadow of the Flock enter a cycle of rebirth, Bowchi Juh was expected to step forwards and either guide the fledgling, or become the new Jian Ban to better support the Shadow. As such, Bowchi Juh took their responsibilities seriously. Including the assignment to guard the Face of the Flock's room at the top of the Hotel. Why the Face of the Flock was afforded this luxury when Pung Neow lived in Gungsheen City, Bowchi Juh did not know. Nor was it their place to ask. The Shadow guided, and the Zheannow flew where they needed to fly. Bowchi Juh had been given worse assignments. It was during this musing, though, that the Jiowchu noticed someone out of place. Bowchi Juh was not an expert on the other races, but the nature-esque statures of the Coedd were something they were briefed upon. Most notably because of the Coedd's... peculiarities towards secrets. It was something to keep an eye on. The rumor was that what one Coedd knows, all Coedd know, but Bowchi Juh had no evidence to support this theory. Still, to see one boldly wandering around up in the Hotel, unescorted, meant that they were either coming to their room or they had snuck away from their Biarbu guide for more personal reasons. And since no rooms on the third and second highest floors were for guests, it couldn't be the former. Which meant Bowchi Juh would need to do something. Stepping forwards and opening their black wingspan to block the hall, the Jiowchu turned their head so one eye could look at the guest... and the other could blink out a message of caution to the other Zheannow nearby under Juh's command. Bowchi Juh was about to speak up when the Coedd instead said, "I've got a message from B." Ah. Well. That changes things. How to respond? Carefully, of course. "Honored Guest," Bowchi Juh said, tucking in their wings once more, "this one regrets to inform you that you are approaching an area dear to the Biarbu's interests. If you are a messenger, perhaps the one whom you need to deliver your message to can be found within our V.I.P. Lounge? It is down near the Hotel lobby. This unworthy one would be pleased to escort you personally." The Shadow would want to hear this message.
  12. Black Bird, Table 1a, Casino Floor The dealer at the Black Bird table nods in commiseration with the cards being shown on the table for the Nymph and the Dhaoine, "The Honored Guest whom has named themselves Player speaks wisdom. While it was not your fate this time to achieve victory on your own, the deck could very well provide you with a way to rise once more." With that, Sha Ren sees that there are no other players and taps the table twice with her beak, signaling the end of the hand. They then flip their hidden card: a ten of comets. This places the dealer at 13 total. They will need an 8 to beat 'Player', a 9 or 10 to bust, but anything below a 4 will mean they need to draw yet another card. "May the Black Bird fly true." BlackBird1aCard19️⃣ "Dealer busts. All guests win." Sha Ren says with a smile. They quickly move the cards and chits around. As the guests who went over 21 lost, yet still won, their total chits are smaller than those of 'Player' who succeeded handily. This is signified by all chits being removed in front of the Nymph and the Dhaoine, before they receive half of them back. Meanwhile 'Player' receives half of their bet in addition to keeping their initial bet. GCC (-250 Chits) ELD (-250 Chits) GLO (+250 Chits) Casino Floor, Elsewhere... Yun Chi was not giving up. Surely this loss was but a mere setback! They had been too timid, yes. Too timid. As the tenets say: What will happen, takes effort. Truly, 50 Chits was not effort. YunChi2506️⃣2️⃣5️⃣ Yun Chi crooned in delight. Yes, yes. 250 was a far more fateful number. There was no loss this time. Of course... no gain either. But when betting, one needed to remember that spending time without losing was the same as winning! Casino Floor, The Reception Stage While the same basic shape of a Biarbu is consistent amongst the species - two wings, long tail feathers, crane-like necks, and bodies bedecked in stars like the cosmos - there were still some differences in coloration and also variations due to health. The most common of which was, like humans, musculature versus bodyfat. It was extremely uncommon for a Biarbu to become fat. Pung Neow was the Face of the Flock, which made them, in their minds, extremely uncommon. Their body was far more round then other Biarbu, and they could get by with the most minimal of movements, trusting in their team of medical experts to see them through to where they needed to be. As none of those experts had expressed any issues with Pung Neow's rotund features, the current Face of the Flock was enjoying life. They admitted - privately - that they were originally concerned about this Casino, but now that the Golden Phoenix was opened, it was exactly the kind of thing they wanted in Gungsheen. Extravagance enough to attract the other Elect and perhaps even the Emperor! What a blessing that would be! Pung Neow could not think of the last time a Face of the Flock had spoken directly to even a representative of the Emperor that wasn't an official of the Taxation Office. To be that Biarbu... But of course, Ben Ying would likely swoop in. Pung Neow did not allow their face to change from their jovial laughter. They were too skilled at such things. But privately... yes, privately, Neow could have whatever thoughts they wanted. Everyone of those thoughts chafed at the existence of the Zheannow. A fairy tale, they had been told growing up. But decades back, as soon as Pung Neow had become the local City Lord for Zachi, they had learned different. The Zheannow really did exist. A promise was made; a promise was kept. When the former Face of the Flock passed on and renewed themselves, instead of the senior most City Lord becoming the new Face, everyone else deferred to Pung Neow. Even the reborn former Face. And so, Pung Neow became a leader. And a follower. Most powerful, most respected, most visible Biarbu within the Society, but ever aware of the shadow they cast. The flashier the lights, the stronger the shadows. It rankled mightily at Pung Neow. Certainly, as Face of the Flock, they enjoyed power and comfort. They were trusted to speak for all of the Biarbu! Yet, the words were told to Neow. Any deviation was... undesired. Still... looking around at the Casino, at the gathered guests, at the sumptuousness of the place, and the luxuries of the foods and richness of the drinks! There were perks for casting that shadow. Which meant... Pung Neow had a job to do. The soft music that had been playing cut out as the Face of the Flock stood up on shaky legs, and a microphone hovered in front of Pung Neow's beak. "Honored Elect and other guests, we pay our respects first to the Emperor!" The Face of the Flock looked up towards the ceiling, which displayed an exquisitely crafted mix of symbology between the realism of Ophon and an intertwining of the symbol of Fascination, also known as the Fate of Ophon. With a bow - something Pung Neow had not done for years - the Face of the Flock made everyone aware that the Biarbu were loyal to the Empire. All other Biarbu in the room responded with a similar respectful gesture, and after a few seconds of silence, Pung Neow continued, "And now, we welcome you all! To the Grand Opening! OF THE GOLDEN PHOENIX!" "For those unaware, few though you might be, this one is pleased to be the Face of the Flock. In place of the Wuonnow, may our ancestors rest peacefully, this one flies true, guiding all Biarbu towards where Fate demands. It is our greatest of pleasures to welcome our fellow Elect within these halls, and we look forwards to speaking with you. Perhaps you have a story that can amuse us? Perhaps there are deals - besides those hands of cards some of you now hold - that you would care to discuss? Please, come, introduce yourselves to this humble host, and if the glory of our meeting sparks a new step in the dance of destiny, then this one looks forwards to dancing!" "Of course," Pung Neow said carefully, almost regretfully, "we also have a more private setting, if you prefer. The Silver Hotel owner will see to your needs themselves. Whatever you choose to do, enjoy yourselves! Again, we welcome you. To Badal. To Shiwa Yun. To Gungsheen City! To the Golden Phoenix!" Pung Neow, Concept Art

May your Fate smile upon you," Sha Ren gives a small bow, before it's beak skillfully deals the cards. They then deal themselves two cards as well. All winning or losing bets that result in a decimal will be rounded down. Always. Yes, even a hypothetical [0.9999] is rounded down. All Single Player games can be played [once per IRL Day], with the official timer of that [Day] starting at 12:01am PST, Monday the 8th of April, 2024. All Competitive / Multi-Player games do not share the Day of Play rules. For C/M-P games that last longer than (72) hours, Payout results may double if a 'hand' (or similar) takes that long. If you have a pair of '1s', lose your full bet. If any numbers are a pair, gain half your bet (unless, of course, the third number is a '1'). If all three numbers match, and are not three 1s, gain (2.5x) your bet. If all three numbers are '1', triple your bet. If none of the results above occur, your bet is not lost, but you gain nothing. Path of Destiny "Dice Throw" Make a bet. Roll 2d6. If the roll is not a 7 or a 12, lost half your bet. If the roll is a 7 or a 12, you have a choice. You may gain half your bet, and wait for the next Day of Play, or you may roll an additional 1d6. Your new bet is now 1.5x your initial bet. If you choose to roll again, and roll either a (12) total [7+5] or (18) total [12+6] on the new die, gain (2.5x) your bet. However, if it is neither of these, lose your full bet. If you win - either with the half bet or (2.5x) your bet - you may continue to play Path of Destiny on the next Day of Play with your current winnings as your new bet even if it exceeds the normal 500 Chits limit. Unlucky 13 "Roulette" Make a bet, and pick a number between 2 and 19, that is not 13. Roll 1d20. On a 1 or a 13, lose your bet. If your number is not rolled, lose half your bet. If your number is rolled, double your bet. If the number rolled is a 20, win half your bet, and you may play another game during this Day of Play. Casino Games (Multi-player) Fortune Favors "Poker" As MythWeavers will not hide the dice tower, Gengy will need to act as the 'Dealer'. Please make sure you can send him a message via Discord to receive your dice result(s). At the start of the 'hand', each player makes an initial bet of 100 Chits. Initial players and bets take place during the same Day of Play, unless there is only one player; then it goes for an additional Day of Play. There can be a maximum of (5) players in a single game of Fortune Favors. Beyond (5) players means a 'second table' occurs. Each player consults the dealer for a 1d8, keeping the die result hidden from the other players. Each player has the chance to raise the bet, call the bet (meet it), or fold. It continues when all bets are equal. This new round of betting must increase by at least 100 Chits, but may increase by a maximum of 500 Chits. Then each player consults the dealer for a 1d6, keeping it secret as well. A final chance to raise, call, or fold. This new round of raising the bet must increase by at least 100 Chits, but may increase by a maximum of 500 Chits. Each remaining player then rolls (in MythWeavers) 1d4+[d8 result]+[d6 result]. This reveals the results. Whomever has the highest roll wins all bets. In the event of a tie, the pot is split evenly. This is a Competitive / Multi-Player game, and as such, subject to the total result being doubled or quadrupled, depending on time involved for a hand and how well written the interaction is. Black Bird "Twenty-one" Make a bet. Players roll 2d10. The dealer does the same, but only shows (1) of those dice. Once the dealer has posted and rolled, players may then make a new post, rolling as many additional d10s as they want, one at a time. All die faces are face value, except for the 1, which can be worth 1 or 11. If a player scores a 21 - a Black Bird - they win double their bet. If the dealer scores a 21, all players lose their initial bets. If neither occurs, a player loses if their total is less than the dealer’s, and wins if their total is greater than the dealer’s. A player also loses if their total is 22 or higher. If the dealer's total is 22 or higher, or the player's score is greater than the dealer's, the player wins half their bet. Rate of play may occur multiple times per Day of Play, as long as there is at least two players and the dealer isn't overwhelmed. The dealer stops rolling dice when their total is 17 or higher. The dealer will only reveal their missing die, and roll their remaining die, once all players signify they are satisfied with their total. If the dealer and a player's total are equal, the player neither loses nor gains; it is considered a push.

Brought to you by B.I.R.B! Guests are given the standard disclaimer regarding safety procedures: Safety Procedures The Biarbu Society is a polity that respects guests. We would not think less of you if you bring whatever guards you desire to allow you to relax and unwind, but due to spatial limitations, we ask all honored guests limit their parties to ten individuals or fewer. In order to show appropriate face, the Golden Phoenix will protect it's own leadership, it's own interests, and it's guests: in that order. Guests caught cheating, or found to be without honor, will be encouraged to leave, and not be welcomed back again. Those who do not feel they are strong enough to protect themselves would do us the greatest of honors to request a personal escort, to help you manage your time and ensure that you may fully achieve tranquility while here. Be aware that such requests must be made personally to the Face of the Flock, whom will judge your worthiness to receive our personal protection. For all other matters concerning your safety, be aware there are designated areas for sparring, and we will thank you to take your violence to such places so that we do not have to reject your invitation to stay. A Further Explanation Shiwa Yun and the Biarbu Society does not guarantee your safety You are responsible for displaying your own strength, and it would be rude of us to step in and steal your opportunity for personal growth in the face of challenges We will protect ourselves, our interests, and then our guests If you feel affronted to the point that you simply must challenge someone, please take it to a designated location appropriate for such things, or we will see it as an insult Should you request it of the Face of the Flock, and the request is granted, we would be honored to protect you at that point as one of our own; though of course, this service will not be for free... Bringing undeclared Explosives into the Casino will be seen as dishonorable After acknowledging the Safety Procedures, guests are escorted to the Casino Floor. The extravagance of what is found here is a testament to all that the Biarbu have achieved so far. The bright red velvet floors feel comfortable to walk upon, be it by foot or by claw, but there are further comforts for a wide range of species, including stools designed to mold to the being that sits down upon them, severs willing to bring beverages well suited to any particular taste, and wide open spaces for those with the ability fly to navigate above everyone in a respectful manner. And of course, the games! The clinking of chits and the clanging of metals reminiscent of an age-gone-by where coins were popular are ever present. They create a type of music and allure of their own, drawing a being in to come and sit, unwind, and amuse themselves. It is also here that The Face of the Flock, Pung Neow, has chosen to roost. They hold court and greet guests personally, trading jests and stories, in return for the appropriate courtesies. Of course, those who tire of such entertainments can always adjourn to the Silver Hotel. A more appealing home-away-from-home cannot be found anywhere else within Gungsheen Capital City. The Nest of Renewal can be seen from the windows of the Hotel, and offers unique perspectives of three of the four Zianta - Spires - from which the governance of Shiwa Yun is said to take place. Guests can watch as the Biarbu fly and soar through the Cloud Sea, unbothered by things such as atmospheric suits that some species require when visiting (or living on) Badal. As an added bonus to the Invited Elect, within the Hotel, there is a V.I.P. Lounge that affords the needed privacy for quiet conversations. The area within is overseen by the Hotel owner, Ben Ying, who is eager to see to the needs of those movers and shakers in the know. An OOC Reminder to Players While Gengy has not yet afforded himself of this opportunity in other events, he would like to remind players that leadership of the Biarbu is 'secret'. You may read more details in , but the short version is this: Most of the world that doesn't care to investigate too deeply thinks that the Face of the Flock - Pung Neow - is in charge Those who do care to look deeply might find out about Ben Ying, the Shadow of the Flock who (mechanically) actually is in charge You are encouraged to play into this dichotomy, depending on whether you think your leadership would be smart/sneaky enough to know who the real power behind the throne is. The largest event being held during the Grand Opening is The Lottery. The Grand Vault is a display piece more than anything; no actual monetary holdings are within the Vault, but it's an opulent room, full of the golden color that is otherwise muted throughout the Casino. From The Grand Vault, you can exchange money for chits - necessary for playing other Casino games - but also sign up to participate for The Lottery. Lottery Rules Players whom officially attend the Event may, as part of the Event sub-actions, spend (1) Treasure for the Lottery. Mechanically, this gifts the treasure to BRB. At the end of the round, all participating Lottery players will be compiled and [1] of those players will win the Lottery; decided by a dice roll, equal to 1d-[# of participants]. Mechanically, this is BRB gifting the winners up to (5) Treasure [depending on number of participants]. If there are a total of [6] or more Lottery Participants, all remaining Lotto Treasure is gifted 'to the Emperor' (aka, to the GM Team) and the GM Team decides how much, if any, BRB keeps as part of the Round 7 opener. These Lottery rules were discussed with - and approved by - Minescratcher prior to the round opening. Casino Games and Chits BRB will be 'donating' (1) Treasure to The Golden Phoenix as part of this round. This treasure will be rewarded to whomever accumulates the most Chits (points) by the War Deadline through playing Casino Games. If you are not mechanically attending the Event, but still end up with the most Chits, the Biarbu will hold your reward in escrow until such a time as it may be gifted to you during another Event. Players may play (1) game every 24 hours, starting at 12:01am PST, Monday the 8th. This game does not require you to make a lengthy post (though that is encouraged!) but it does require you to make a new post, detailing what game you are playing, and making the associated roll(s). Payouts for the games will be pre-determine ahead of time, and total Chits will be tracked by Gengy (oh dear Emperor, what am I getting myself into?) Games that are competitive will have higher payouts, as you play against other players, and this will take more time to resolve. Competitive Game Payouts can be doubled for games that take longer than (72) hours, and quadrupled for playing a hand against other participants in a manner that amuses and delights [read: is a well written story and isn't just a post saying 'I raise', 'I call', etc.] For details of how each game is played, and their payouts, please see the post below this one. Everyone starts out with [1000] Chits. If you fall below [250] Chits, gifting BRB (1) Treasure during the Event (Separate from Gifting to the Lottery) will get you an additional [1000] Chits. This can be done as many times as you want, so long as you (a) fall below [250] Chits and (b) have Treasure to spend. You must mechanically attend the event to participate in this re-buy.
  18. The Symbol of Fascination Fate of Ophon Organized Faith: Fascination A Philosophy: I think, therefore I am. A Rebuttal: I know you are, but what am I? Tenets of Fascination For the majority of Biarbu - and indeed, the growing clergy and followers of fate beyond Shiwa Yun - Fascination is but a curiosity for the changes in Fate. How two Fates can intertwine. How one Fate can begin when another ends. In recent years, what was once just a philosophy has evolved into something more defined: an actual faith. Fascination is a simplified phrase for the observance of Fate. Be it something as simple as watching the dice fall to see what numbers occur, something more personal like accepting what has happened outside of your control, or far more difficult: nudging the outcome of a complex issue in some way, just to see what happens. The tenants of Fascination are as follows: What has happened, happened. We cannot change the past. We can only accept it. Learn from it. And do our best to move forward. We are all part of the Dance of Destiny. Sometimes we dance together, sometimes we dance apart, but the Random Will of the Cosmos has us all dancing, even if we can't hear the music. Respect the Fate of others. Acting, or not acting, upon someone else's Fate, intertwines them with yours. After all, consequences are a form of destiny all on their own. Coincidences occur everywhere, delightfully. Observe the now when you can, to take it all in. The past is, indeed, immutable; the die has been cast, and we can but enjoy the fall and the spin, to appreciate not just what was but what is. What will happen, takes effort. The most difficult of steps for those that are Fascinated: learning how to effect change. While some may call it Luck, you can make yourself far more likely to be Lucky. Size Bonus (5): +1 to Convert Region What will happen, takes effort... but not as much as you might think. The pull of Fate is strong, and surprisingly compelling, making it easy to spread to new areas.

Round 5 The Biarbu Society [The Shadow of the Flock] Region(s): 6 Actions: (rolls adjusted by +1 for Fascination Size-5 Bonus) [Faith] Convert R17 to (Majority) Fascination (20) [-1 Treasure] While no official support from local governance seems to exist, the people of the Biron Crosspaths seem eager. [Faith] Convert R7 to (Minority) Fascination (16) [-1 Treasure] Fate's path is not one that can be tracked, but it is one that is easier when there is a large gathering of fate nearby. [Faith] Convert R12 to (Minority) Fascination (17) [-1 Treasure] Those of Neo Guleum have their own Fates, often tied to their wallets. Fascination with money is a faith of it's own. [Faith] Convert R46 to (Minority) Fascination (17) [-1 Treasure] Invited to contribute to the overall Arkhive, destiny finds it easier to enter into the halls. [Intrigue 10] Establish Espionage Agency {The Golden Phoenix} It brings the Face of the Flock great pride to develop the Grand Casino of Shiwa Yun, located near the Spire of Gungsheen itself! The Nest of Renewal, the Biarbu Society capital, is revitalized with joy and celebration. Dubbed 'The Golden Phoenix' the Grand Casino is a massive structure that is an entirely new addition to the local arcology. It promises to be great fun for not just Biarbu, but visitors as well. The Face of the Flock begins to plan a suitable soiree for it's grand opening! “Everything was tied together with thin threads of fate, and when one loosened or tightened it was surprising how impactful it could be.” - Jay Crownover To those who rule, to those who lead, to those who are important enough, they receive one of these highly valued invitations, and the translation does not take long for them to realized it's importance. Sometimes, however, it needs a push. Those who were wavering regarding their Fascination waver no more. [Intrigue] Secret Action The Shadow of the Flock soars. [Intrigue] Coerce TP1 of Region 6. [12] The attack from the Shylokian Reign of Blood within Shiwa Yun disrupts trade. Worse: it shows a lack of face for the leadership of the Societies. The Face of the Flock cannot have that happen, so applies pressure in the right spots. Like a skilled acupuncturist, there is no pain, and order is swiftly restored. [Intrigue] Investigate Planet VIII [14] Dr. Otara's findings are quite the hot topic amongst the Biarbu. The Plume Nest, Yu, especially becomes a flutter with new ideas. Though it will take some luck, the Honorable Astronomer Shing-Chen is determined to pierce the heavens and make new discoveries. [Head in the Clouds] Hearing that the Basu-Rahman Group is eager to find a location where they might bring the Maharaj's Dream to Badal, the Face of the Flock happily indicates that they would be more than willing to sponsor the Board in Shiwa Yun. While the bid may seem small for such a well reputed group, the Biarbu Societies pledge to provide (2 Treasure) and free stays in what the Face of the Flock promises will be the next great thing: the Shiwa Yun Casino! (Coming soon!) News and Rumors Thoroughly amused at what happened with the Bironian Crosspaths, the Biarbu turn their attention to the reincarnations that the Khylokian Reign of Blood have caused. The new Biarbu are raised with care, and it is several years before the chicks are once again able to contribue, though this new group of hatchlings seem unusually focused on the ideas of vengeance, often calling for the raising of more Biarbu troops. With the United Houses of Senkar making frequent trips to secure their regular shipments of Electronic Edibles, the friendly Biarbu of the West Hope Nest begin to express curiosity about their culture and their politics. The inquiries range from higher level leadership questions, like "How does one become the High Lord?", to lower level or odd questions, such as "Any drama currently unfolding in one of the Low Courts that is major gossip?" or "Do Djinn have rules and laws for who they can and cannot possess?" Their beauty, their strength, and their cleverness were seen as unparalleled, save for the imperial family itself. The joy they brought with but a song was enough to stop wars, or bring a dying man back from the brink of death itself. For death was their compatriot. They danced with it, always, and never missed a step. Life would rejoice, and death would laugh, for the Children of the Phongkwhan were blessed by Fate itself! And yet… while the mighty Phongkwhan sat upon the shoulder of the Emperor, and it too rejoiced for it’s children, the Children of the Phongkwhan had no children of their own. Life wept, for though it tried, the spark was missing. There was a piece of destiny that was incomplete. And so the Phongkwhan begged the Emperor, and in return for it’s many years of service, the Emperor relented and ordered his over-scientists to begin the needed research and restoration of the twist that was missing within the pieces of destiny. The over-scientists worked long and hard, through many deaths, and gathered some of the tears of life, and soon felt they had a solution! The Children of the Phongkwhan would need to sing to the sun itself, until it burned brighter than it ever had, to power all Ophon. Then, the heat of the sun could be used to pierce the clouds around the desolate lands of Badal. From inside the heart of the storm, the Children would procreate, and the spark they needed would be provided. And so it was. The spark grew, and encapsulated the air around Badal, before it shrank, beholding the mighty rays of glorious Ophon, and burned with equal fury. The light coalesced into a multitude of eggs, which cracked open in response to their forebearer’s own songs of joy. And so were birthed the Wuonnow. So beloved by the Emperor were the Wuonnow that they were given a form of ever lasting life. So long as the rays of Ophon burn, so to will the spark of Life live within the Children of the Children of the Phongkwhan! Resist the Sack of Region 6 TP1 (Spend Treasure) [Fail: 11] News and Rumors Now with additional contacts within the Bironian Crosspaths, the Biarbu are taking further interest in what is to come for the Bulwark. They are not liking the idea that someone other than the Loyalists might achieve victory, but what the Biarbu like and what happens are not necessarily the same thing.
