I know nothing of the Kingmaker variant or subset of rules. But I do love games that delve into intrigue and worldbuilding as a consensus thing. I played a lot of the old Birthright D&D when that came out and ... some ... parts of it were not intolerable. :)

Never quite able to blend in, the well dressed nonchalant fellow is clearly human, Taldan blood, as is his intense companion, the lady, ... 'Bitsy', if you heard the barmaid properly. They make an amazingly attractive couple, even if he seems bored and she quite furtive. Any attempt to look at her for even a moment is met with a dangerous low yet somehow feminine growl. Both wear only light clothing although he is wearing a very odd looking belt that must double somehow as a weapon.
