  1. Heretic as Randall Randall, having been withdrawn for a while, follows the party silently.
  2. Heretic as Randall "Lairdsville, I recall that chat," Randall half-shouts at Gilbert to be heard above the din. "I believe I followed with the tale of duck failing to find common ground between the fish and the eagle, no?" The web didn't seem to be bothering anyone, and the lot were already looking sorely unprepared for just how bad an idea they'd had and then acted upon. "Issu'livo ac'reatore," he says, having long ago explained that choking was part of the pronunciation. Randall throws his hand forward, fingers forming spear without touching, whilst his other hand seems to tickle the air near his elbow. Each flick caused a trilling bolt to crookedly skitter out from his concealed palm, haphazardly darting through the air. The salvo scatters amongst the thugs, hitting with pure force strong enough to make one think twice. Or perhaps once, for the first time. No shame in running, lads. Mechanics Action: Magic Missile.*A classic for a reason! Four of them, Penchant I trust you to divy them out amongst the thugs. Priority to assist those in melee if they don't quite take down their target, otherwise target those not yet harmed so they're all a little hurt. Move: Staying still. Don't think he'd get out of it. Swift:
  3. Heretic as Randall Randall squints through the webbing, then grunts. "Right, very good," he says and then flexes his fingers while muttering the words that his very blood seemed to hum. A sudden clenching of fists that left his knuckles white and dug nails into his palms joined the last syllable and then he releases. His own magic slams into the magic keeping the webbing "real", but washes over it, sliding and sloshing in ways that make Randall grit his teeth. Nails on a chalkboard, he'd heard it likened to, once. It was close. "Buggernuts! No good." Mechanics Change of plans... Action: Cast Dispel Magic on Web Move: Staying still. Don't think he'd get out of it. Swift:
  4. Heretic as Randall Randall sees the Web spell at the last minute, the spellformed webbing springing into existence from tiny motes of arcane energy. It was almost beautiful as seen under the effects of Gilbert's hastening spell. So too did the latter spell make the former spell easier to evade. Of course, he was now a bit trapped and wary for it. "Gil is at a loss for words," he shouts at Kelly "I've dispelling covered." Standing still amid the sticky threads, he doubts he could escape without becoming equally stuck. Instead Randall draws back one hand in a painful-looking claw, his forward hand similarly tortured in pose. From this distance it could be a t At this distance it'll be a trick to dispel, but then Gilbert put us at an advantage. Mechanics Aurik is 100' off the ground and without instruction will take a Dodge action. Heretic is readying an action to Counterspell (Dispel) if the cast spell looks like danger.
  5. Heretic as Randall Heretic planned on keeping the Randall persona while Sal was around. Getting people on board with the changing identities was exhausting, usually. And Sal was a client, so no reason to spook him. So it was that face that arrived and grunted at news of their pursuit. "Not exactly a cup of coffee, but consider me awake," he says, dryly, before receiving Gilbert's alacrity. His eyes widen. "Now that's better than coffee. Pardon me a moment." Randall steps lively and jumps onto a railing, his one hand gripping a cable tightly as he pivots to face towards the ship. His other hand grabs his shirt by the collar and tugs up, giving the fabric at the nape of his neck ample slack. Something black and swirling in on itself in infinite patterns erupts from the space. Violently jerking and filling out, a large feathered wing in intricate ink emerges, followed quickly by a beaked head. The ship sags lower to the ground as hundreds of pounds become reality. Within seconds Aurik was free. She alights, freeing the Atlas into buoyancy once again. "Sorry it took so long, girl, but you won't be bored. See them?" he half-shouts as the roc turns and matches speed. "Zen says we gotta keep one alive. There's at least five of them, though, so don't upset Zen, now." Aurik rattles off a deep purr Heretic felt more than heard. Meeting the others as the Atlas Wake was nearing the ground, he lays a hand on Peggy's shoulders. "They'll never see you coming, darling. Do me a favor and give them great reason to regret that." A twist of reality and Peggy vanishes from sight. He thought to tell her how long it might last, but saves his breath. Mechanics Roughly, one round to let Aurik out to play, and one round to cast Invisibility on Peggy. Aurik will keep at least 100' off the ground, circling over the Atlas. Can't miss us. To be clear, it's an 8' long, 500lb bird.
  6. Randall makes sure his components are well stocked and purchases a few extra days worth of provisions. He dreams of flying, riding thermals way up high and exploring the winds for the thrill of it.
  7. Heretic as Randall Randall smiles. "Right fair," he comments as he decides the handshake won't particularly benefit from his inclusion. "I'd toast to the occasion, but it's best we not draw any further attention. In fact, perhaps it's wise to call it early, given tomorrow. However... grace us with your company a moment more, if you please." <third option misdirection, two lead him home out back with me, I swap, rest escort me out front, lose or nullify opportunistic types> His back itched suddenly, but subtly. Scratching did nothing, anyways. Soon, girl. Just one more night, then days of skies and sand. Aurik and Tipple were polar opposites, with the latter happily sleeping for days if need be.
  8. Heretic as Randall Heretic was certain of this much; Sal had not understood what he'd been told; And it was entirely unlikely Sal possessed the mindset to understand. So Randall let it slide. Instead he silently disavowed Sal's accusation of peeping with playful exaggeration. "Messy and a bit presumptuous in certain folk's eyes." He observes in response to Gilbert's plan without hint of scorn. "Though tempting." <decoy trick good but make ambush false destination control engagement better odds better loot> Randall then rolls his eyes and head comically and looks at Zen. "I can literally hear you thinking it, so I'll make it explicit. Sal," he winks and turns a friendly face towards the prospective business partner, "I think this deal is sounding very promising. Let's discuss a few specifics before we arrive at any numbers. Point of, any bounties we bring in are exclusively ours to benefit from. It's the price for us placing ourselves in harm's way for your benefit. I assume that's perfectly sensible, no?" OOC I'd roll a Persuasion but I've about f***in' had it with this site for tonight and don't want to figure out how to link my character sheet to a dice roll and risk losing the majority of my post for a third time.
  9. Switched to green text for Heretic, so as not to conflict with Kelly too much.
  10. Heretic as Randall Much like Peggy, Heretic was less prone to talking through Tak, though he did. But his or her mental missives are usually taciturn and generic. Still, he listened. "Sal, fine to meet you, and I appreciate that your mind was already on security," he says smoothly, reassuringly after Kelly gives him the rundown. "To expound on what my friend Kelly is explaining, you're already in a bad way. Let me ask you this, and please be honest... does anyone know or suspect where you've made your claim in the you know wheres?" he asks, seriously. "Doesn't have to be anyone in this tavern. Just someone who knows or might know. They're in danger, too, now."
  11. Happy Turkey Day! Yeah, truly, if I cause offense IC or OOC, please just let me know. 99.672% of the time it's completely unintentional, and I'll be aghast to know it did so much as ruffle feathers.
  12. I identify with that point of view all too much. Been in a funk myself.
  13. This was discussed beforehand by and myself, with defined limitations. But I can see how this would look concerning to other players.
