Appearance

Were it not for her scales, her fin-like ears, and her gills, Alba would look like any given human in Sunrise. She’s middle-height and athletic, like a gymnast or figure skater, and brimming with youthful curiosity. Her eyes are eager and attentive, the color of deep, clear water. Her hair, usually tied loosely back, is long and milky white, like cloud-filtered sunlight after a storm, with streaks and flecks of green and blue. She speaks confidently and bluntly, seemingly unafraid of embarrassment or faux-pas—though she is sometimes prone to spells of melancholy and reverie ever since the death of her father, Grant Thompson, just over a year ago.

Up close, Alba’s azarketi qualities are unmistakable. The nape of her neck and the back of her upper arms are rough and scaly. Even her numerous freckles give the impression of the skin of a reptile or a fish. Her long ears, easily mistaken as elvish from a distance, are ridged and reticular, like the fins of a marlin. Barely perceptible gill slits are on both sides of her neck, and they sometimes flare open when she is excited or agitated.

Alba’s attire speaks to her social status in Sunrise: she is the cooper’s daughter. She wears a breathable, beige linen work shirt, durable brown long-sleeved breeks, and a pair of black leather boots. More often than not she wears a heavily scuffed, tool-nicked leather work apron everywhere she goes, with a large hammer hanging from the utility loop on one side.

When she is training with her friend Mina, Alba dons a heavily worn, hand-me-down chainmail shirt. She still wears her apron, but hanging from her waist, on a sword belt opposite the hammer, is a shortsword. It’s not her first pick for weaponry, but she's better suited to handle it than anything else she's tried.
