cailano Posted January 10 Clone Share Posted January 10 Basic Fantasy Role-Playing Game is an old-school, rules-light system based on the B/X edition of Dungeons and Dragons. It deviates from the original system by adding more character options, such as separate race and class, along with some quality-of-life improvements like ascending Armor Class. If you've played any of the TSR editions of D&D, you'll feel right at home with Basic Fantasy. If you're coming from any of the modern D&D editions (3rd and up) then you will notice some big differences. Basic Fantasy is more rules-light than those systems, and characters are more fragile. You will not have as many abilities or hit points. There also isn't a formal skill system, which affects exploration. You'll need to investigate your environment by having your character interact with the game world. See the thread about OSR gaming for more details. All BFRPG publications are available as PDFs for free. Many are also available in a print edition and are sold at cost via Amazon. The print edition of the core rules, for example, only costs eight dollars. In this game, we will use several supplements from the BFRPG website. The table below contains all the relevant links.
