Background:

Jouka the blue giant was born into the Skywatcher Clan, nomads of the plains of Klaar, are guided by the celestial movements observed by their esteemed Shamans, the Stargazers. With their immense wagons pulled by the mighty Banths, colossal three-horned lizards reminiscent of triceratops, they roam the vast expanse of the wilderness, their way of life deeply intertwined with the natural world.

The Skywatchers dealt in star rocks and silks they acquired trade with other Blue Nomads or other humans whom they rarely had any dealings with except for  the trade mentioned above which took place mostly in the city of Oomis along the border of the plains of Klaar [Barbarian and Merchant]

His father was a Stargazer,  a revered Shaman whose knowledge of the stars and constellations serves as both a navigational aid and a source of spiritual guidance for the clans. They interpret celestial omens, ensuring safe passage for the clans as they journey across the plains. Jouka being the son of a stargazer was accepted into the order at a young age and found he had a natural talent for such things, He was born under the influence of Hurm, Farther of the gods and god of the sky Hurm has power over both men and beasts and Jouka soon discovered his natural affinity with animals and became a Wildhealer a sect of Shamans within the Stargazers who are believed to have been blessed by the gods with a unique gift: the ability to communicate with animals and form deep bonds with them. They are not only healers of the clansmen but also caretakers and protectors of the creatures that inhabit the wilderness.

Jouka even befriended a ( not yet determined) who bonded with him and became his trusted companion. [Shaman and Beastmaster]

Jouka left his kin to roam the civilized lands of humans to learn about them but was soon captured and sold as a slave to a Magician and taken to Zalut who wished once more to continue the experiments of the Sorcerer-Kings of old

will take a few days to get this guy together.

Hero Creation Summary

1 Envision your character and figure them out
before you try to “build” them.

2 Divide 4 points between the four attributes
(strength, agility, mind, and appeal).

3 Divide 4 points between the four combat
abilities (initiative, melee, ranged, and defence).

4 Choose four careers and divide 4 points
between them. The order of the careers is best
done chronologically and helps tell the story
of your character

5 Choose your languages – Lemurian + one
other. Add +1 for each level of mind, and +1
for appropriate career ranks.

6 Select boons and flaws. You get the first boon
for free (based on your country or city of
origin), +1 more boon (any) if you take a flaw
(from your place of origin), or +2 more if you
take two flaws (the second can be any flaw) or
lose Hero Points.

7 Derive lifeblood (10+strength), Hero Points
(normally 5), Arcane Power (0 unless you have
a career rank in magician), Fate Points (if you
are a priest) and Craft Points (if you are an
alchemist).

8 Choose some weapons and armour as
appropriate, and agree with

No worries! I’d like an opportune moment to insert Jouka into play, so there’s no hurry.

I want to tie the Beastmaster in with the Shaman in some manner, in his tribe the Beastmasters are a sect of Shamans within his tribe but I am having trouble connecting the dots any Ideas?

It can be easily done. Can you create a convincing backstory to describe some unique sect-within-a-sect? Notice on our characters' bios, I had them write 2-3 sentences per career to string together some sort of backstory. This exercise might help you out. You can even see what ChatGPT might come up with.

@roryb for your consideration some information on Joukas clan

The Skywatcher Clan: (Barbarian and Merchant)

The Skywatcher Clan, nomads of the plains of Klaar, are guided by the celestial movements observed by their esteemed Shamans, the Stargazers. With their immense wagons pulled by the mighty Banths, colossal three-horned lizards reminiscent of triceratops, they roam the vast expanse of the wilderness, their way of life deeply intertwined with the natural world.

The Stargazers:

At the heart of the Skywatcher Clan are the Stargazers, revered Shamans whose knowledge of the stars and constellations serves as both a navigational aid and a source of spiritual guidance. They interpret celestial omens, ensuring safe passage for the clan as they journey across the plains. Among the Stargazers, there exists a special sect known as the Wildhealers.

The Wildhealers: (Shaman and Beastmaster)

The Wildhealers are a sect of Shamans within the Stargazers who are believed to have been blessed by the gods with a unique gift: the ability to communicate with animals and form deep bonds with them. They are not only healers of the clansmen but also caretakers and protectors of the creatures that inhabit the wilderness.

Gifted Connections:

The Wildhealers possess a deep understanding of the natural world, forged through their intimate connection with the animals they encounter. They are able to communicate with these creatures on a spiritual level, offering comfort, guidance, and healing to those in need. Through rituals and ceremonies passed down through generations, they channel the divine energies of the land, invoking blessings for both humans and animals alike.

Healers of Both Worlds:

The Wildhealers play a crucial role in the Skywatcher Clan, serving as mediators between humans and animals, bridging the gap between two worlds. They tend to the wounded and sick, offering herbal remedies and spiritual guidance to promote healing and well-being. Their compassion and empathy extend to all living beings, fostering harmony and balance within the clan and the natural world.

Unity and Harmony:

For the Skywatcher Clan, the Wildhealers represent the unity and interconnectedness of all living beings. Their presence serves as a reminder of the sacred bond shared between humans and animals, a bond that transcends language and species. Through their actions and teachings, they embody the clan's reverence for the natural world, nurturing a sense of harmony and respect for all creatures great and small.

Conclusion:

In the ever-changing landscape of the plains of Klaar, the Skywatcher Clan and their Stargazers, including the esteemed Wildhealers, stand as guardians of the land and the celestial realms above. With the Banths by their side and the wisdom of the stars to guide them, they embark on a journey of discovery and enlightenment, seeking to forge deeper connections with the world around them and uphold the sacred traditions of their ancestors.

That’s all good! Looking forward to seeing his own story. Perhaps you can work in what he is doing at this present place and time. He could be a captive. The bent sorcerers of Zalut would find value in a doughty slave like Jouka. They could have slighted him in the past, and he could be back for revenge. Or, he could be looting for his own purposes (seeking an animal friend taken from him? Tasked to steal something here on behalf of someone who holds leverage over him…).

Work up a backstory that includes what he may be doing here.

So where exactly is here? and where can I find info on the sorcerers of Zalut?

Looks like I misread the section on what careers he can be Physician is barred for this race.

I choose priest instead.

If I spend a hero point can I get one more boon?

Gods worshiped by the Skywatcher Clan

Zalkyr the Bright, Lord of Light, Sun God

He is worshipped by all as he represents light, warmth, and growth. He travels across the sky on either a chariot or a skyboat (the latter being more common in Satarlan temples). In the Crimson Edda, Zalkyr is described as an aging king with golden flesh, silver bones, and hair of sunlight.

Sa’Tel, The God of Stars

Sa’Tel created the Star-Orb and sent it to earth for Yrzlak to forge the blade that he gave to Hrangarth to defeat the Sorcerer-Kings. He is usually depicted as a bright light or star, although he is sometimes pictured as a slim naked man of indeterminate age with deep black eyes.

Quathoomar, Lord of Travel, The Pathfinder

Originally a god of the Blue Giants, but now worshipped by many other travelers of all kinds. He appears as a huge Blue Giant that can stride over hills and mountains as if they are anthills. He carries a great wooden maul and wears a behemoth-hide tunic.

Karyzon the Wind Lord

The Messenger of the Gods is depicted as a handsome and athletic-looking youth, sometimes with feathered wings sprouting from his back, sometimes without, and often naked. Karyzon is worshipped by the Winged Men, as well as by sailors and sky pilots. Karyzon is the son of Nemmereth and Lilandra.

Hurm, Father-God, God of the Sky

The King of the Gods is depicted as a regal, mature man with a sturdy frame and dark beard, usually just wearing a belted leather kilt. He carries his royal scepter in one hand and a bronze bell in the other. The bell is used to call all the other gods and goddesses to order and has powers over men and beasts too. Hurm is worshipped by all.

Fyrzon the Sentinel, the Steadfast

Also known as the Gate Keeper, the Watcher of the Stairs. Fyrzon is often depicted as a man with the head of a bouphon, wielding a great iron mace named Mulkandrar. He is stalwart and true – being able to stand for years without moving if needed. Once his feet are grounded, nothing can make him move. If you aren’t desired in Mezzechesh, you will not get past Fyrzon

Fillana, Goddess of the Stars

The Lady of the Night Skies is worshipped by many who conduct their business at night and also by anyone reliant on the stars for navigation, such as whores, assassins, burglars, sailors, and sky-pilots.

Dyr, God of Storms, the Thunder Lord

A powerful god, Dyr is known to fly into rages for the most trivial of reasons. Dyr is depicted as a tall, muscular man wearing a mail shirt and a purple mantle. In battle he uses his halberd Jarnost (which was made by Yrzlak). Dyr is worshipped by just about everyone who is affected by stormy weather.

Look under the gazeteer on places, and find Zalut. Another interesting connection...a climactic battle at the end of the first age sent the sorcerer-kings packing. The blud giants were their slaves (and thought to be sorcerous creations of them in the first place). The folk of Zalut represent the remnants of the sorcerer-kings. There can still be animus between them.

Looks good! His Lifeblood should be 14 with his adjusted Strength. For a pet, here are the choices that fit the “large” category:

  • andrak (a peak predator much like a cross between lion and wolf)
  • bouphon (a buffalo type of beast)
  • kroark (a domesticated riding dino)
  • parvalus (grass-eating mammalian herd animal)
  • dire wolf
  • yorth (a type of spiny-tailed raptor dino)

Looks like he’s entitled to a few more languages (1 for Mind, 2 for Shaman)

Do you want to detail how he escaped the magicians of Zalut?
