Fang, Vestas, and Marl'Tok enter the musty foyer.

 

The mastiff sniffs about at the floor in various spots before pissing against the lowest part of the stairway banister. He then joins the two explorers as they walk down the corridor to the east.

The little group finds nothing in the connecting hall but dust, debris, and three doors. The door in the wall to the south proves to be the one leading to their friends Muad'Dib and Qwinsea. The Baklunish burglar is examining a battered old writing desk and the swordsman stands near an open window ( the way they came into this room).

Creaking floorboards and the noises Fang makes ensure that those in the room aren't surprised by the arrival of their friends.

 

(OOC -Vestas, Marl'Tok, and Fang the Mastiff join Muad'dib and Qwinsea in ROOM 3. We can call it 3 or 'the writing desk room'

Kerphi has been searching Room 4. He hasn't found anything more after discovering the golden earring. He might hear low speech and footsteps of his friends, as they are in an adjacent room.

Shall we assume Roland and Vanilla join the others or do their players have different plans? )

Vestas Faircoin

Entering the room with the writing desk, Vestas gives the broken thing a look over.*

"Hey Muad'dib, can you get this center section open? I can't". Unable to find a way into the center section of the desk, Vestas decides to go through some of the papers looking for anything of importance.

Vestas collects the papers from the trash under the desk. Of the several loose, crumpled or torn pages of rag paper, he finds most are blank or stained and moldered nearly to total illegibility. One sheet he can partly read looks like a household inventory: one barrel salt cod, two amphorae wine, three sacks meal, etc.

 

Crawling about on his hands and knees to fish papers out from beneath the desk, Vestas also finds a broken quill pen, old and dusty, and a ceramic inkpot with a bit of bluish dust in the bottom. It's missing its top.

Kerphi hears the voices and movements of his companions elsewhere in the house, but he does not join them quite yet. First, he peers up the chimney in the room, trying to discern if it simply exits to the sky above, or if it connects to a fireplace on the next floor up as well.

ROOM 4

 

The chimney seems to connect to a structure above, not simply opening to the sky. Probably another fireplace.

Kerphi nods to himself, then extracts himself from the fireplace. He casts another slow glance around the room, a final scan for the source of the disembodied voice, then proceeds to the hallway door, opening it and stepping through to find his companions.
