PERSONALITY

She is professional while at work: in direct contrast, she is very exuberant and excitable while around people she feels comfortable with. Sarcastic wit dominates her sense of humour. She doesn’t care much for most people, and treats them with curt respect.

APPEARANCE

Short and delicate, Scythe maintains a refined appearance while on the job, typically wearing a Kevlar laced cheap but professional looking business suit. Her hair is short and dark (though it is actually tech hair), the only sign of rebellion the spiky and mussed up style her hair is perpetually in. Underneath the suit, she hosts a small set of Tyger Claws light tattoos, and though she is not a member of the gang, she does work often for them.

HISTORY

Born in December of 2014 to Tyger Claw gangers Qiang Wu and Min Li, Mei grew up in the combat-zone of Little China, where violence is the norm and gang rule is the only law. While her parents were alive, they tried their best to shelter their daughter from the rampant crime and violence of the street, but there was only so much they could do living in a thin walled conapt in the middle of a combat-zone. The corporate war stuck when she was 8, and suddenly life in Night City went from bad to worse. Her parents were gone almost constantly, doing jobs for the Tyger Claws, trying to stay afloat in a time when megacorps and boostergangs alike were dropping like flies. Mei learned to grow up fast during the war, and by the time she was 11, she was officially inducted into the Tyger Claws, as a scout and messenger.

Her parents disappeared near the end of the war. She could never get a straight answer about where they had been or what they had been assigned to, but whatever their mission had been, they never returned from it. From then on, the Tyger Claws took care of her, renting her a Cube Hotel in a block they owned, in exchange for her loyalty and service. At the age of 14, they payed for her Neural Link and Interface Plugs, and set her up with her first Cyberdeck, the good ol’ Kirama Entry Deck. She proved an adept ‘Runner, and before too long, the Claws were setting her up with better and better ‘Decks. After reaching adulthood, she began to do jobs for groups other than the Claws, with the gang’s begrudging permission. For the most part, they allowed her independence, only calling on her on occasion, and otherwise letting her go about her business. 
She began to develop a bit of a reputation as a Netrunner, doing minor jobs for a couple of Nomad groups and low level Corps. Then came her first big job. An anonymous client hired her to gather dirt on Continental Brands exec Rian Goldsen, and use it to get the man fired. She took the job, and managed to find and expose some dirty secrets, but not without a cost: while in the man’s personal NET, she was identified by his security team. His lost credibility made him unable to do anything about it immediately, but he has vowed to get her arrested, no matter what it takes. 
Not long after that, she began working with the Netrunner known as ‘Phantom’, who she met anonymously on a programmers forum. The two began discussing projects they were working on, and since then have shared their notes and thoughts with each other often. Despite having never met face to face, Scythe considers Phantom to be her truest friend. Though sometimes she suspects that her friend is, in fact, an AI. 


CONTACTS

Eddie Knife. The leader of the segment of the Tyger Claws that control the portion Little China that Scythe lives in. Eddie is a relatively well known rockerboy, and he can certainly hold his own in a fight. He’s a bit of a wildcard, but loyal to a fault.
Long Tooth. One of the Tyger Claws most feared hit men. The first thing anyone notices about Long Tooth are his namesake teeth: freakishly long and sharp metal teeth that long since replaced his normal ones. He is known to use his teeth as a weapon, and it is rumoured that he practices cannibalism. He is also Scythe’s father’s younger brother.
