Personality

Zakon is a dour individual who treats all occasions seriously and solemnly. He is pedantic and takes vows, contracts, and other agreements especially seriously. He holds himself and others to high standards, in these regards, and has little patience for those whose words mean little-to-nothing. This is not to say that he is an entirely honorable figure. If there is a loophole, he will have no qualms about its exploitation, so long as the letter of the law is not in violation.

History

Zakon's sharp mind, legal acumen, and flexible morality, have gotten him far, in life. They ensured that he could secure the loans necessary to pay for his education, which resulted in a swift rise through the ranks of functionaries and bureaucrats that administrated the complex laws of Cheliax. They also led him to the study of the occult, the power of True Names, and the rites and rituals required to make binding pacts with supernatural entities. These bartered gifts make Zakon far more capable and formidable than a typical barrister and, thus far, he has been able to navigate the innumerable pitfalls of supernatural law and maintain his agency, while so many of those he worked beside had become prisoners of their own contracts.

In fact, these traits have taken him so far in life that they have taken him all the way to the Chelish embassy in New Stetvan, the capitol city of Brevoy. For years, whether acting as a circuit judge bringing the law to remote settlements or attached as a retainer to a Chelish diplomatic envoy, Zakon travelled quite a bit in his younger years. He learned quite a bit about foreign politics, international law, and diplomacy. His travels gave him a greater understanding of and appreciation for the laws of other nations, as well as a broader perspective about the inherent injustices of the laws of his homeland.

As he approaches the end of his most recent contract, Zakon is looking for new opportunities. Will he return to Cheliax and try to reform the system from within? or will he practice Brelish law and start his own practice or judicial circuit? ... or, unbeknownst to Zakon, will Fate put him in a position to help build a new nation, and write new laws, from the ground up?

Physical Description

Zakon is an older man, with greying hair and pale skin, who is nearly always dressed in fine clothing, as would befit someone of his station. The robes of his office are black, embellished with red and grey - the colors of the nation of Cheliax. In the rare instances when he is not bereft of expression, he is seemingly displeased with the situation at hand.
