Spell RepertoireThe collection of spells you can cast is called your spell repertoire. At 1st level, you learn two 1st-level spells of your choice and four cantrips of your choice, as well as an additional spell and cantrip from your bloodline. You choose these from the common spells from the tradition corresponding to your bloodline, or from other spells from that tradition to which you have access. You can cast any spell in your spell repertoire by using a spell slot of an appropriate spell level.

You add to this spell repertoire as you increase in level. Each time you get a spell slot (see Table 3–17), you add a spell of the same level to your spell repertoire. When you gain access to a new level of spells, your first new spell is always the spell granted by your bloodline, but you can choose the other spells. At 2nd level, you select another 1st-level spell; at 3rd level, you gain a new spell from your bloodline and two other 2nd-level spells, and so on. When you add spells, you might select a higher-level version of a spell you already know so that you can cast a heightened version of that spell.

Though you gain them at the same rate, your spell slots and the spells in your spell repertoire are separate. If a feat or other ability adds a spell to your spell repertoire, it wouldn't give you another spell slot, and vice versa.

Description

A striking individual in his true form, Kezzik has coal dark fur over his entire body, with silver highlights at the roots of his scalp, around his eyes, on his chest, and about the muzzle, giving him the impression of being older than he actually is. He is slender of build, and has a tendency to smile, though that smile can switch from calm and reassuring to cruel and sinister in a heartbeat. He takes pains to ensure he is properly groomed at all times, and favors dark greens and purples for his clothing, which can stand out or blend into the forest depending on if he's moving or not. He also has a fine tenor voice that he loves to use for singing - or at any other opportunity.

Personality

Kezzik is exceptionally affable, but he most certainly has a cruel streak. He's very quick to laugh at another's misfortune, and his favorite tales are ones with unhappy or horrific endings. He loves making people sweat or come close to soiling themselves before he bursts out in laughter. However, there are lines that he is not willing to cross - and he makes it very, VERY clear when somebody has crossed one.

He is also quite loyal in following Sivanah, especially in her teaching of keeping secrets. If you tell him something in confidence, he will keep it a secret. He has a love for illusions, both practical and magical, and will go out of his way to admire a particularly interesting or beautiful one. He occasionally jests that he'd be a follower of Shelyn if it weren't for his mean streak.

Oh, and in case you couldn't tell, he's got a bit of an ego on him.

Background

Like a non-homicidal version of the Joker, Kezzik tends to tell a different story to everyone regarding his upbringing. Sometimes he claims he was a child of two kitsune who ran into each other while wandering and had a one night stand before he was offered up to some River Kingdom bandits. Other times, he claims he was born to seemingly normal foxes, and learned how to imitate humans by observation. And sometimes, he claims that his father was "a very sick kitsune, don't make me elaborate further." What IS known is that he's been wandering about the River Kingdoms, the Stolen Lands, and Southern Brevoy, performing for all and sundry, and also floating the idea that maybe he should be the king of the Stolen Lands. All in jest, of course.

Unless it's not actually in jest. When the call for adventurers went out, Kezzik simply showed up at Lady Aldori's hall on the back of a cart, less than a week after the call went out. He claimed that "a friend of a friend of an enemy" told him. Or that he was handed an invitation by a courier. He seems to delight in spreading different narratives about who he is. Maybe once he gets to know folks better, he'll actually tell the story of his past, without the mystery.

Or perhaps not. There's nothing a kitsune loves more than watching people tie their minds in knots, and nothing brings more glory to Sivanah than making sure the road to the truth is as interesting as possible.
