The Tolig

Tolig is not a single-minded deity; 'he' is thousands or even millions of minds, ranging from goblins to giants and planetary titans, that together are perhaps the equivalent of a god.

'Tolig' as a name refers to both the largest of these beings, a rocklike being capable of moving planets, and the entire group as a whole; though individuals, every one of the Tolig from the biggest giant to the smallest goblin takes pleasure in serving the gods. Another term for them could be 'angels', though they don't really look the part.

Domains (Portfolios): Toil (Servitude), Godlings (Goblins)

The Tolig are capable of many things, but all are achieved through the medium of their own hands, as servants of the gods.
Domains in Progress: Toil (Terraforming 2/10, Construction 1/10, Toolmaking 3/10), Godlings (Giants 4/10)

Possible future portfolios are Toil (Forestry, Construction).
Alignment: Lawful Good; the Tolig are faithful to their masters, but they will rarely if ever seek to destroy, only to maintain and create.
Symbol(s): A shen ring, or two (or more) interlocking or concentric circles.
Color: The big one uses this color and background, if he talks. Other Tolig use dark green or reddish-brown, usually.
Pantheon: N/A until you join one.

Appearance: The big Tolig can be basically described as a humongous vaguely humanoid rock elemental. Giant, ogre, goblinoid, etc appearances vary extremely widely in size, shape, and coloration, though they are almost always bipedal, and tend to wear simple tunics or loincloths made from whatever material is locally available.
Personality: Again, variable. The Tolig are obedient to a fault, but their personalities can be anything from the eager and excitable, to the sour and snarky, to dull and dimwitted or curious and creative or occasionally, cackling mischief. The big one rarely speaks himself, and tends to be slow and unyielding, much like a force of nature.
Dogma: Why do we serve? It is our nature and law. Wind blows, fire warms, gravity makes things fall, the Tolig submit and obey. If we didn't, who would create and shape the world, who would nourish life, who would attend to the gods comforts?

All we ask is that you let us serve, and that when we do that you take the opportunity to grow, to learn, to seek happiness.

It is our goal to nourish the world, gods and mortals; if you seek to revere us you need only show kindness and share what you have with others. Do not subject others to cruelty or poverty or slavery; if you use our labour to enable suffering, we will desert you, and you will perish. We are immortal, divine and needless, and so bondage and endless toil do not bear an oppressive weight on us like they do mortals.

Do not break the world.
Relationships: None yet.
Divine Tools: Pithos of Earth: This is just a very large vase that is bigger still on the inside, that's been filled to the brim with dust and rocks gathered from who-knows-where. It can pour out enough dirt and stone to make a few continents, and who knows? Once it's empty perhaps it could be used to hold something else.

Oh heck, you've unionized the angels. Would the Tolig would accept newly created species into their ranks? Takayaane would be eager to help, though Takayaane's form of help might "corrupt" the Tolig. Wait, don't answer that, we can do this in-character when the game starts. Great "character"!

Alrighty, ready!

I'd say one has to be born/created as one of the Tolig, due to their nature, but they can accept mortals (or immortals like undead or golems/robots or nature spirits) seeking to emulate them as honorary Tolig. True Tolig wouldn't stop being Tolig either, but it'd be possible for them to give rise to non-Tolig goblinoids and giantfolk, probably.

Down on the ground, a handful of Tolig were busying themselves planting a new forest.

Perug was the biggest; a giant visible from miles away, he was busy scooping up mud from a nearby river and spreading it out flat, creating a fertile base of soil for the forest to grow on.

Ug, the ogre, was significantly smaller but still very big; he was pulling fully grown trees out of a magic pot, one after the other, turning them around and burying them in the soil...in the same fashion that a hammer buries a nail.

Atig, a teeny goblin barely rising above Ug's ankle, was skittering about with a bag full of seeds and sprouts, stopping every few seconds to bury a seed or a sprout, adding smaller vegetation to the forest to come.

Atig stopped and looked back at what he had done so far; tireless, he had covered a good couple of square miles with seeds and flowers, which with any luck would spread and fill the forest to come with prismatic undergrowth.

Then something caught his eye and he frowned; there was a spot filled with flowers, but bereft of trees. He went to get Ug's attention.

Ug pulled out a tree from the pot on his left. He slammed it into the soil on his right. He dragged the pot a few feet. He pulled out a tree from the pot on his left. He slammed it into the soil on his right-

"Hey, Ug!"

Ug pulled out a tree from the pot on his left. He slammed it-

"Eek!"

-into the soil on his right.

SQUISH!

Ug paused and mentally replayed the past few lines in his head before realising that he had, with all probability, accidentally buried Atig under a tree.

"Oops." he mumbled.

He reached for the tree and started to pull it back up, before a large shadow fell over him. He looked up-

SQUISH!!

High up above, Perug squinted at where he had just dumped a heap of mud and muttered, "Oops."

A safe distance away, Kurg the ogre, overseeing the whole thing, sighed before walking over to help excavate the buried goblin and ogre.

Test post!

Pending a dedicated bestiary:

Goblins:

Small humanoid creatures, they vary widely in shape and size, but are usually around one meter tall, with some getting as tall as two meters.

A 'standard' goblin tends to have bat-like ears and a wide mouth, but very few goblins are standard, frequently having animalian features like horns, tails, vestigial wings, scales, elongated snouts and who knows what else. Usually they 'borrow' features from the environment and animals (and sometimes plants) around them.

Though they appear alive, true goblins are actually divine creatures, more akin to spirits or tutelary deities than anything else, and so don't have the same needs as living creatures. Fragments of Tolig, they exist to serve the gods and their chosen mortals, just as much as the sun exists to provide light and warmth.

Ogres:

A subset of goblins; like goblins, they appear alive but are more like spirits, and they exist to serve the gods.

However, they're much, much larger, tending to be a good dozen meters tall, enough that most humanoids barely come up to their ankles.

Where the smaller goblins take care of smaller tasks from cleaning to craftsmanship, ogres are capable of hauling huge chunks of stone and entire trees, building buildings and transplanting entire forests over time.

Giants:

Another aspect of the Tolig; however, where goblinoids are convincingly living creatures, giants are obviously not, being humanoid visages but overtly carved out of stone, or ice, or crystal, or esoteric things like clouds or fire.

Giants are absolutely immense, to the point of having to lie down to hide behind mountains. Their job is to terraform the earth on a large scale, digging out rivers with their hands, moving vast chunks of soil, or squeezing rocks together to make mountains.

I love the idea of a bestiary and perhaps a place where we can better define everything that is create, not just beasts. Some kind of compendium.

The first post should have links to the new posts and those links should be organized alphabetically.

Goblins, ogres, and giants would all have links to the same post, but they would be in different places on the list.

Does this new site allow direct links to specific posts like the old one did?

Go right ahead. I’ll probably make a post about Starting Island too (around 20 square km, about 100000 acres), but right now I’m thinking about lunch.

Starting Island:

The first island that isn't just an asteroid, created by the Tolig. A mostly flat-topped floating island, it's mostly covered in grasses and bushes with a few rocky hills.

A little over 20 square km, around 100000 acres in surface area, it serves as something of a testing ground, both for Veshwoon and Takayaane to make new life forms (Iam seems to be doing his own thing), and for the Tolig to invent new ways to spoil people.

Air Goblins (aka Imps):

A subset of the Tolig divinity; imps are basically even tinier goblins with functional wings. They're unsuited to most menial tasks, but they're amazingly fast and well-suited as messengers. And they tend to have nice singing voices, too.

Update!

Water Ogres/Merrow:

Ogre Tolig who have transformed themselves into pseudo-merfolk; thick and bulky with fish-like tails in lieu of legs, they are adapted to underwater conditions, whether near the surface or in the dark depths. They aim to tend to and build for the undersea creatures, including mermaids, introduced by Lux, a task they perform with solemn dignity and grace...and unfortunately, the singing voice of whales.
