Eri Atuitous

ED333369-463E-4259-AEA4-CB03A4F95D27.jpeg.0fe084caccda03316b368089d8d2aaed.jpeg"Long words. And it's a Sanctum, isn't it, Phelar. By experience, 90% of the time, those faux gold highlights wrap a [c*nt] with a bit too much money and power for their pedigree. Oh well, watch it."

The Ysoki had remained rather silent this whole while, taking a while to rest the mandibles and get back into the motions of a mechanic - monitoring and tuning the engine's workings to the timbre of its droning, controlling the targeting systems to keep focus on potential targets.

And after a jolt from a somewhat-calculated ram into the gate, Eri tipped their glasses back into place to better hear their comrade go on a inspired tirade against whatever was trying to stop them from evacuating civilians, again.

The contents of his speech largely stuck to anything but her ears and probably got a bit more crunched through the comms, but she'd gotten the gist. And the enemy, for sure. She nodded, vigorously.

"Uhh - yeah, yeah what he said, self-sodders."

"You'd make a good officer, Jikjak. Got the words to show and the guns to back 'em. Shame you're with us dregs."

Eri finally gets themselves back onto the teams comms channel, mentally ready for combat.

"Got it, boss. You heard the man - say the word and you've got two rats ready to turn a cannon into a full-auto weapon."

There's an oddly long pause, given everyone driving at max speed.

"Oh we're not going to kill you, boss wants a few of you brought in. Tell you what, give us the cat. We'll take them as payment for letting the rest of you go. We can always come back." There's a grim sort of chuckle at the end of the transmission.

The rapidly approaching wall of vegetation is now very present in front of the vehicles. You have the option to try and punch through or quickly divert to follow it until you find an opening.

Punch Through:

  • Piloting check to Ram.

Divert/Reroute:

  • Piloting check to quickly turn without losing speed or hitting a tree.
  • Perception check to find a spot to get through. Any passenger in a diverted vehicle may make the Perception check.

Aid:

  • Passengers may attempt to aid any driver:
    • Fire at the plants to create an opening
    • Fire at the mech
    • Create a distraction
    • Anything else you can think of

This is a pseudo chase...not quite to mapping/zones but we'll see how that progresses.

"We're taking your terms under consideration," Nils said dryly over the public channel, "Here is our counter offer."

Dropping out of his firing position and taking over the controls of the walker, Nils hauled on the yoke and drove it forward. "All vehicles! We're making a break for it! Jikjak, you're on point. Find us a route out of here. Eri, get some fire on those bastards!"

While Jikjak had been more-or-less their designated driver for the past couple of days, Nils had been working around vehicles professionally for years and it showed.

Jikjak Whiptail

"Got it, Sarge! Somebody put on the Taldorbeat, and go for the eyes!"spacer.png

Jikjak grits his teeth as he torques the controls on the APC. He also takes the time to stick his hand out of the window and give a rude gesture to the merc.

"Yea-ha-ha! Suck my giant ysoki sack!"

spacer.png"I suppose that's right, Eri." Truthfully she had little idea what the female Ysoki was going on about. So with that, she felt it best to just agree and leave it at that.

Phelar wasted no time following the others on the Enercycle as they charged forth. "Taldorbeat? I assume that's some sort of music?" She said as she sped up the bike following.

"Oh shi..." The open comm cuts off suddenly as chaos breaks loose. Shawkra's smoke hits right where it needs to and the APC, Walker, and Truck all quickly change directions, leaving the mech behind. It slows momentarily but not for long as it comes charging out of the haze.

Jikjak: You see an opening, its going to be tight at this speed...

Now driving very quickly over rough terrain with a massive wall of vegetation to your...let's say left, you need to keep away or deal with the mech.

There isn't really an opportunity to change directions again now, its either straight or through.

Punch Through:

  • Piloting check to Ram into the vegetation
  • A harder Piloting check to take the path found by Jikjak

Breakaway:

  • Piloting check to quickly turn without losing speed or hitting a tree.

Find a(nother) Path:

  • Perception check to find a spot to get through. Anyone may make the Perception check.

Aid:

  • Passengers may attempt to aid any driver:
    • Fire at the plants to create an opening
    • Fire at the mech
    • Create a distraction
    • Anything else you can think of

Attack:

Attack the pursuing mech with any weapons you have

"Keep it up!" Nils shouted over comms as he tried to follow after Jikjak and the APC. He was used to tracked vehicles though and the walker was about to turn a mechanical ankle on the rough terrain.

Jikjak Whiptail

"Hope these tires are rated for off-roading. Here we go!"spacer.png

Jikjak abruptly swerves the APC, before gunning the gas again, aiming for the now slightly wider passage into the unforgiving planetwide jungle.

"Eri, apologies beforehand, but this baby's probably going to need your magic touch. For now, though, it's dare to be stupid!"

ED333369-463E-4259-AEA4-CB03A4F95D27.jpeg.0fe084caccda03316b368089d8d2aaed.jpeg"Hey hey hey, we just fixed her damn chassis! Hands FIRM on that steering column!"

Eri starts to get riled up by the sudden jerk forward of the APC, hearing the engine begin to accelerate and loosely shut panels begin to bang and chitter from the bumpy terrain.

*furious exhale*

The Ysoki trains the firing systems on the mech in pursuit, swerving the APC's cannon backwards and taking shots the best they can. They needed to trip the walking hunk of metal on its own steps away from her fire.

They grit their fangs together trying to keep a steady pattern of fire on their target.

"Okay, good amount of dare-to-be-stupid, call out your turns!"

Another round of chaos.

Unfortunately, Shawkra misses their mark (effectively an Aid attempt) but Jikjak uses the APC to punch a path through the brush. Its suddenly VERY rough but the Walker manages to follow through. The vehicles may continue on this path via Navigate Brush (see below)

Jikjak's shot on the Mech misses as the APC passes into the brush and Phelar misses the turn to follow...with most of the vehicles heading into cover, the mech opts for the easy target and goes after Phe...fortunately, she's going fast enough that the mech only manages to catch the rear armor, which absorbs the shells.

Navigate Brush:

  • Piloting to react the quickly changing conditions of the heavy vegetation
  • This may be assisted by Survival (Orienteer), Perception, or Attack rolls to clear the path.

"It's zeroing in on Phelar," Nils called out over comms, "I ain't got many options on this walker. We need a solution people."

Running his walked hard, Nils, stood in the driver's seat as much as he could while maintaining control and tried to use the added height of the walker find something, anything to turn the tables on this mech.
