Jorlan is one of the head guards at Velkynvelve. Buppido says that not long ago he was in charge, but that after he got his scars, another took his place. Buppido suspects that it is tied to Ilvara's favor and whom she wishes to take into bed. He also says the burn scars seemed to happen while he was away from Velkynvelve on some sort of patrol.
