Act 2: Trouble on Herool's Truce

The sister shrug in tandem, before one of them says, "Normally we don't allow customers out of the common area, but since you came in with Rayla..."

 

"...you and your partners can step into the back office, no one will disturb us there," the other finishes.

Just behind the counter is a door leading to a small back office. It's clear that the sisters weren't lying when they said this place wasn't meant for customers as it's a bit of a mess with maps, star charts, and random bits of gear strewn about. With all of you in there it is a little cramped, but there is just enough room for you.

Walking in after the sisters, Cheliyxx bows his head in thanks to each. He waits for everyone to join them inside, glancing around curiously at the paperwork laying about. He could appreciate people that clearly understood the value of paperwork. Even if their organizational skills left much to be desired. Once everyone was inside and the door shut, the undersecretary focuses on the twins, offering another smile. "Thank you for understanding. We have coordinates to a location on the dark side that we need to investigate. Although your Guild may have already been there once. A contact of ours relayed something had been found, something important. Can you tell us what might be there? I'm sure you keep records of what you find, yes?"

As they hear the coordinates in question, you see recognition flash in the eyes of the two Letnev.

"Oh, interesting," says one.

"We could tell you some things, I'm sure," says the other.

"But in our line of work 'interesting' means expensive," says the first.

This will be a Hard (3 purple difficulty die) Charm (Presence) check, you can lower the difficulty by 1 purple difficulty die for every 100 Aurei you offer them. If you offer them 300 Aurei they will just tell you what they know, probably while dollar signs appear in their eyes.

"Of course, of course," Cheliyxx says with a smile. "Of course, we are government officials, so our funds can be...limited. But surely we can come to a mutually beneficial understanding.": The Xxcha reaches into an inner pocket of his coat, removing it to slide a stack of Aurei across the desk towards the twins.

The two sister's eyes go wide briefly at the effortless way the Xxcha drops 200 aurei on the table, but just as quickly Cheliyxx can see a gleam of greed cloud them over. Clearly they think they have found as easy mark.

"To tell you the truth we wish we could help you," one of them says.

"But our information involves other clients, and we've sworn a solemn oath of confidentiality," says the other.

Unfortunately that is a failed roll, but you do have two advantage to spend for this social encounter. You can still offer them 100 aurei or equivalent value or try something else.

"That is only natural. However, we may still come to an agreement...", says Jana, then turns to her companions. "Please, show them them the box."

When done, continues: "We came by these recently and while these spices are valuable, what lies on the other side interests us more.", says and stands waiting for there answer, hoping to prevent any more serious endeavors to get results.

The sister's eyes gleam with greed once more and Rayla raises a finger as if to object, but they swipe the spices and the money off the table before anything more can be said. With a slightly strained look Rayla holds his tongue as the sisters begin speaking, once again alternating between the two of them as they talk.

"Well it would be rude of us to turn away such generous guests."

"Two other groups have come looking for those coordinates. The first was a large band of Winnu, about eleven in number, who were heavily modified with cybernetics. They were fairly tight lipped with their own plans, but extremely eager for any information on the area."

"The next was a young Hacan named Ske'rra. But just between us, he seemed like a bit of a scammer. Tried to get us to cough up free information by selling us some story about a dangerous weapon laying dormant at those coordinates. Hah! There's nothing out there but old wrecks from the war, and all their power cores ran dry centuries ago."

In addition to this information, the sisters provide the keleres with navigational data. They may add two blue boost die to any pilot checks made to navigate the area around the coordinates.

"Thank you, we appreciate your help. And, of course, we were never here."

"There's only one way to go forward.."

Then she turns to her companions: "I think we know where the cat would put it's paw next."
