Forgiveness (Forge)

Myth-Weavers Sheet

Name: Forgiveness

Race: Tiefling

Class: Warlock(Fiend)

Subclass: Fiend (Pact of the Tome)

Background: Criminal

Appearance: Tall, with pale, ashen skin, jet black hair and beard, and equally dark horns protruding from his hair, curling backwards. His eyes are a bright, luminous red that reflect light like a cat’s. He wears black leather armor and a hooded cloak, and smells faintly of brimstone.

Personality: Reserved, sullen, and pessimistic. Has a dry, sardonic wit, and views the world with a cynical sense of dread. Fiercely loyal to those he considers friends, and honest if not necessarily trustworthy (will steal from you, but won’t lie to you…except about the stealing).

Background: Grew up on the streets with his twin brother Courage in the ironically named city of Brighthold. Due to their Tiefling nature, Forge and his brother were abandoned at an orphanage as babes, and grew up together in the orphanage. Constantly bullied and picked on, the brothers ran away at the age of six. They survived together on the streets, terrorizing market vendors and pickpocketing unwary pilgrims and tourists. As they got older, the brothers became more daring, and in an attempt to aqcuire enough coin to travel to a distant, better place (any other place had to be better) where they could hopefully start new lives, they decided to rob the church, a temple to Pholtus, god of light and law. The tithings and alms at the temple would be enough for them to escape and live comfortably in a town where they weren’t viewed as delinquent demon spawn, where they could be accepted. Forge now knows such a place does not exist, but at fifteen he still had hope. Successfully stealing the coins, and then some horses, they made their escape and rode off to seek a better future. A month later, in a different town, the money almost gone and the horses traded for food and lodgings, a knight of the church caught up to them. Though they would have been blamed for the theft regardless of if they had actually done it, their disappearance from Brighthold had verified their guilt. Forge came home from the tavern to the small hovel he and his brother shared to find his brother dead and a knight wearing Pholtus’ livery standing over the mangled corpse, Courage’s blood dripping from the knight’s mace. With a bloodcurdling scream, Forge cried for vengeance, and his plea was answered. Finding himself in a dark, smoky chamber, he was offered power to avenge his brother, at the cost of his soul. Having been told since birth he was damned for being a Tiefling regardless, the price seemed more than reasonable. Transported back to his body, and reality, only a few heartbeats had passed. With the power he had been gifted, Forge smote the knight in a spray of hellish fire, roasting him inside his armor and burning down the home he and his brother had begun to build for themselves. From that day forward, his name (both of them) took on new meaning, as he has been seeking forgiveness for the holy knight’s murder and has vowed to forge himself into a champion who is strong enough to protect those that need to be protected, so that vengeance is not needed.
