Biography

Rachel was born into a nameless suburb of a mid-sized college town in the midwest, the middle child of three to common middle class parents.  Ever since she could remember she has struggled to find something unique or interesting about herself, something to be proud of.  This lead to an endless of string of half-hearted hobbies, short relationships and part-time jobs that were always a race between quitting and getting fired.  It wasn't until her senior year of high school that she found her "true gift" - lying.  Not just small lies about assignments or being out late, those always came easy and naturally to her.  But it was in her last year of school that she found that she could tell big lies smoothly and that people seemed almost eager to believe them.  She became so wrapped up in running cons and scams on the students and faculty of her school as well as her friends and family that she very nearly failed out, but skirted through graduation by her the skin of her teeth.

 

She knew that college was not for her, and was called to the bright lights of New York to make real money real easy.  While she had some initial success with running penny ante scams on tourists and rubes, she quickly ran afoul of not only law enforcement but other scammers and criminals.  She didn't even last nine months in New York before she fled, tail between her legs.  Over the next decade she fell into a routine:  Madame Alessandra Rostova, vaguely Eastern European in accent and mannerisms and unfailingly impressive in psychic showmanship, would move into town and setup shop in small hole in the wall and sell fortunes, crystals, card readings (and maybe some weed on the side) until the law came around in the form of taxes or cops, or she gave an incorrect reading to the wrong housewife.  Then it would be time to pack up and move it along.  The game was always the same and after all this time, the shine has definitely worn off the apple, but she doesn't know how to do anything else.  So she keeps going, hoping each day may finally give her some way to change things.

 

Physical Description

Rachel has two distinct looks, working and not.  She is in her early thirties, but when not working favors makeup that makes her look slightly younger.  When she is working as Madame Rostova she wears heavy makeup that make her look in her late forties or early fifties (in the range between the Old and Older versions).  While she is Rostova, she tends to wear a dark headwrap over a fitted grey streaked wig, blouses and sweaters, long skirts and comfortable tennis shoes.  When she is not working she favors loose tshirts or sweatshirts and bib overalls or sweatpants and comfortable tennis shoes.  She has mousy brown hair and dark brown eyes and needs glasses to correct farsightedness and a mild astigmatism, although she has different styles for Rostova and herself.
