Gods of Note: Torm, Tyr, Ilmater, Chauntea, Amauntor, Lathander, Helm, Tymora, Waukeen

Called the Kingdom of the Two Suns, Elturgard has been the tenuous name of a would-be kingdom for centuries until the rise of Thavius Kreeg, High Observer of Elturel in 1444 DR, when he, along with the Companion, destroyed a betrayal of leadership secretly run by vampires among the Hellriders that ruled that holy city. Since then, Elturgard has centralized into a stronger government, with neighboring cities joining with it for better protection with minimal intrusion. Elturgard was agrarian, a theocracy favoring beneficent deities, and ultimately, freedom-loving: it began to assert independence from its nearby rival Baldur's Gate and the Lords' Alliance at-large.

That all came crashing down in 1492 DR, the Year of Three Ships Sailing, when the Companion, the so-called Second Sun of Elturel, turned black and absorbed Elturel, along with everyone in it. Ever since, Elturgard has fallen into chaos, relying on local whims against anarchy and what seems like incursion from Beyond.

Map Key

Baldur's Gate: Metropolis on the edge of the Chionthar River, Baldur's Gate is Elturel's chief rival, and a city of notable criminality and mercantile presence.

Candlekeep: Nestled atop the cliffs that run the Sword Coast is the newly rebuilt Candlekeep, the greatest repository of knowledge in all of Toril. To enter you must present a book they do not already have: no easy feat.

Elturel: Former capital of Elturgard; sucked into another plane by the Companion, leaving only a hole along the Chionthar River that is now filling with water.

Scornubel: A trading city along the Trade Way, Scornubel joined with Elturgard for protection from bandits and relies on it still.
