Detailed Description

The City. A mix of neon lights, crime and corruption. It is all you have ever known. All that you ever thought there was. Day after day living life on autopilot, walking through the rain, passing through the mist-covered streets. Keep an eye when you cross an alley, be wary of those who claim to protect and serve, and do not cross those who really run things. Keep your head down, that's what you were taught growing up here. Keep your head down, perhaps shake it in sadness when you see the news of yet another poor soul lost for one reason or another. It is the way the City is. It always has been and always will be.

But then it happened. A decision you made. A path you could have walked but didn't, a turn you could have taken but avoided, a cry for help that you could have ignored but, for once, answered.

And it awoke something in you. Something that feels as though it has a will of its own, a message that it wants to communicate to you. And power. Incredible, terrifying power that is now yours. Life as you knew it was but a dream, but now you are Awake. The City has a different face, a true face, and you can see it. A different world, hiding in plain sight, filled with beings who can do incredible things, each with their own designs, their own goals for this wretched place you call home.

You are a Rift. And for better or worse, you now have the power to change this city.

Greetings everyone, I am looking for 2-3 players to play through the scenario Killing her Softly from Nights of Payne Town: A spooky mystery taking place in the world of jazz clubs in the City. I am Samanos and I will be your GM for this scenario. I used to play in the old site back in the day, however this will be my first real venture into the City of Mist. I don't mind if you are a new player or a veteran who has played this scenario before (though if you are, please take care not to spoil anything for the other players).

  2. Oh, ok then, doing Change the Game & posting soon. Edit 1: Erm, maybe I should wait for to resolve Brianna's Face Danger & everything else?
  3. Uhh, I think Declan is still gunfighting with that one bloke. Looks like your hallucinations might be helpful for Brianna, who has two on her, though?
  4. I think I want Theo to imprint hallucinations of police coming towards the Valhalla Boys for his next "action". But I wanna see what everyone else has in mind first.
  5. Night Hood When she noticed Declan and Allan assisting, Night Hood had to bight her tongue. There was a deep desire to see them fall by her hands alone. But, Brianna knew better than let her bloodlust control all of her emotions. Perhaps they will still fall by my hands, they are simply aiding me in ensuring I succeed with fewer injuries. The thought rang in her mind in a separate voice, it was a manifestation of Sekhmet's will. Night Hood stared at the two attacking her, unflinching for far too long when considering the circumstances. And just before it would be too late to move, she began dodging the incoming attacks.   6. The man screams as Brianna slices as his leg and falls down. Night Hood has a moment to savour the strike, but the feeling is cut short as another one tackles her and they roll away from the wounded man. Brianna rams a boot in the man's face, pushing him away but he seems barely winded and both combatants jump into their feet. Brianna has a new weapon now, dragged from mid and trash: the shotgun of the man she just killed. Night Hood feels her lips form a savage smile as her flame engulfs the weapon. The men face her with their weapons but before they can react shots start echoing from the side. One of the Boys takes cover and starts firing back at Declan, while Allan jumps at another thug from the shadows. Gold glimmers under his gold and Brianna hears a metallic sound as his makeshift armour manages to repel a throwing axe. The teamaker awkwardly throws a fist at the mercenary, who blocks easily. However, his hand immediately starts turning into gold, locking into place. The man looks at that and shrieks in horror. The two remaining Boys waste no more time. They level their weapons at her and fire.
  7. Should I just doublepost on the IC? I was waiting for another to post, but it looks like , you posted here in the IC what Night Hood needs to react to. I guess I'll give it until tomorrow to make another IC post.
  8. Right now Declan doesn't have that status, but is in danger of getting it. You roll 2d6 and you can apply any power and story tags/statuses that help Declan avoid the shot. If you miss, you take the status and it will apply from that point onwards in any related moves. If you roll 7-9 you take a status one tier lower. If you roll 10+ you avoid it completely and if you roll 12+ you get bonus stuff.
  9. Does this mean that I use 2d6 and then subtract 3 from the roll?
  10. You manage to achieve your goal and drive one of the attackers away from Brianna. However his attention is now focused on you. I'll need you to roll Face Danger against gun wound-3 as he pulls out a pistol and starts returning fire. I'll need you to roll face Danger against Axe wound-3 two times. Current status of the fight: Brianna is engaged in close combat with 2 Boys Allan is fighting Boy 3 Declan is in a gunfight with Boy 4. Theo next to Declan, hidden by the wall next to the door.
  11. 1 Juice will be spent to pick up a dropped shotgun turning it into a Flaming Boomstick. 2 Juice will be spent to gain the status Indomitable-2, as she holds with weapon with unnerving malice

Its in page 250 of the original rulebook but basically for each point of juice you can do one of the following: -Create a story tag -Burn a power tag or a story tag -Give or reduce a status (one tier per point of Juice) On a 10+, you also get the following extra options: • Increase the area or the targets. • Make the effect ongoing • Hide the effect • Something else that you come up with, subject to MC approval. However, anything that you do must fit with the method you used. Can't use the ability to speak every language to heal someone for example.

  14. Okay, we'll do: Go Toe to Toe Tags: A Good Shot +1 Status: Dark and Stormy Night -1 He will focus on a combatant that Brianna or Allan are not actively engaging with. I'll choose one of them for now.
  15. So far Theo is not exposed, but Allan will enter the fray and engage one of the men aiming for Brianna. I think Declan using his guns to drive back or "herd" combatants would be a go toe to toe. I would invoke "Dark and stormy night" and if you have more than one target, take a further -1 from the size factor.

  17. Night Hood Combining Sekhmet's skill in battle and Night Hood's understanding of back alley brawling, ensures that the axe-wielding assailant will fail in his attack. Furthermore, said assailant's lack of experience left him open for a rebuttal from Night Hood, in the form of slicing into his own leg. The man falls in pain and agony, victim to his own attack. She watches as a satisfied smirk forms on her lips. I'll see to his death after the other three, but I'll need a weapon to make things fair. Her eyes, now evoking the wrath of Sekhmet, scan the area to find something suitable to hold as a weapon. The falling rain and darkness of the night do little to aid her.   18. Heavy bleeding sounds fine. Creating a weapon would be one or more story tags, depending on how you do it and how well you roll. It could be something like Sanctified rust pipe or a flaming broomstick. Statuses are always some kind of ongoing buff or debuff that affects a pc or an npc, if that makes sense. Everything else is represented by a tag.
  19. Well, I'm thinking that leaning into the literal bloodlust works well here, so maybe heavy-bleeding? Arterial-cut? She wants to find a weapon and then infuse it with Lioness's Roar. I am guessing this would be a status?
  20. EDIT: What kind of status do you want to impose? Face danger is a reaction. It triggers when you are threatened or about to take a status. And yes you get to have an action now :) What's your plan for Changing the Game? On turn order, City of Mist is different than Dnd style games. For pbp purposes however, I also prefer letting everyone do an action per turn. I don't count movement as an action by itself, unless the distance is far enough. If someone wants to do something complex that would require several rolls then its a case by case basis on how long it takes.
  21. Sehkmet wants blood. She'll go with reflect. Also, I have a question about actions and order. Is Face Danger an action or reaction? If Face Danger isn't an action, do I get to take an action now? (Night Hood wants to Change the Game, since she is currently weaponless) Are we using the simple one action per person until everyone has acted? (I actually prefer this in PbP)

I don't know what the situation will look like when Declan gets out there, but the overall objective would be to provide covering fire for the two close quarters combatants to either get close or withdraw, as the situation demands. Heading out, the immediate concern would be to drive back attackers from Theo or Brianna if the situation is looking grim for them.
  23. Since the Boys are a collective with a size factor 1 and you are targetting all of them, this reduces the tier of your status by 1. So the status will be ''Afraid of Dying 2''. For reference, the Boys (4 members) currently have the following statuses and tags: Berserk - 2 Tactical formation - 2 Afraid of Dying -2 Body armour
  24. Insane roll. Since you have Dynamite, you get to pick: -Reflect the attack back to the attacker (Apply an appropriate status of equal power back at them) -Enhance your ddefence and gain an appropriate 1-tier status.
  25. Declan L'estrange Declan watches Allan and Theo head outside then claps the balding man on the shoulder. "Alright, my man. Keep it up in here and I'll see what I can do about what's going on outside." Declan readies his pistols and heads outside.
