  1. What's new in this game
  2. Woohoo! Just got my hardback Court of Blades book! Looks awesome!
  3. Just a heads up - I‘lol be off grid starting tomorrow for about a week. Family vacation. Might be able to check in but I would encourage you to press on without me.
  4. While that's frustrating, I'd say it was worth it for that dice roll! I'll try to get you a post ASAP so you can reap the benefits of your great fortune! Unfortunately that probably won't be until Wednesday. 😞
  5. Okay, found it. The die button is the same color as the background and I completely missed it.   Now, there is a problem with it. It only shows totals. So on my first roll, I said roll 3d6 and it returned a 7. Which could be a 5,1,1 (partial success) or a 3,3,1 (total failure). So, then I rerolled the dice one at a time so we could see exactly what they were.  In the "How do I..." thread, they kinda kicked the 'different die roll formats' down the road and said 'wait for someone else to figure it out.' Frustrating.
  6. Okay, I give up.    How the heck to I roll dice?   The New Users Guide says click on the button on the right, but I see no such button. Click "Roll Dice" on the far right of the post bit (it is the picture of the two dice with the "+" sign). Are these not designated as "game forums"? It says "Note: dice can only be rolled in game forums."
  7. Kaz smiled a small smile as he bowed and presented the tray. "Carrot tart with ricotta and almond filling, sir?" He thought, 'not as good as the caviar and creme fraiche tartlets, but passable.' He sighed. 'Looks like things are getting ready. Not enough time for another circuit - I'll have to use what I have discerned so far.' He made his way back to the kitchen and handed off the serving tray, then slid into the cloakroom. Emerging a few moments later in his uniform and hat, few would recognize him as the obsequious server of moments ago. No one ever notices servants, except other servants. He slid into the crowd, then grabbed one more caviar tartlet while he did a final assessment of the battlefield.
  8. Hey everyone. I unexpectedly got a trip crammed into my schedule (heading out on Wednesday, going to last seven or eight days). Preparations for that have kept me busy and I'm not sure I'll be able to post much until I return. I'll try, but I don't want to promise anything that might not hold up.    Thank you for being patient! 🙂   ---   Taurelin's plan sounds good and fitting! Survey as a setup action to judge the right moment to intervene (and as a mini-engagement roll for Kaz) has my go-ahead. 🙂
  9. Okay, just spitballing here...   Kaz identifies the rival coterie in his Survey of the crowd. (Have to Push a roll to trigger the Gap In The Armor SA). He sees that the crowd is going to have to move through some choke point to move from the reception to the auction hall. Like this: ___ ___ | | K-> I I | | He bursts out of the door on the left, and hustles them into the door on the right?   Skirmish to do the pushing? Then he might have to do another exchange to deal with them, but they are temporarily out of the auction. I can do the Survey roll first to see how that goes...
  10. That seems like something that could work! Did you have any specific approach in mind?
  11. Hey Sorcery!   Trying to decide when Kazimir might "deign" to lake his appearance. Could he use his special ability Gap In The Armor to survey the crowd and identify the trio of like-minded operatives, then set himself up to take them out? Perhaps at a dramatically appropriate moment?

What terrifying act are you known for?  ○ PREDATOR:  Take +1d to rolls against weakened or vulnerable targets.  Whenever you gather information on a weakness or vulnerability, the worst you can get is a 4/5.  ○ SHARPSHOOTER:  Push yourself to do one of the following:  - make a trick shot  - disarm someone  - make a ranged attack at extreme distance  - unleash a barrage of rapid fire to suppress your target. You retain the effects of pushing yourself.  ○ TRIAGE:  Patch yourself or someone else up, allowing them to ignore one level of harm penalty for the remainder of the errand.  Does not work on anyone who has suffered fatal harm.  Each PC can only benefit from Triage once.  ○ CALL THE TARGET:  You suffer no tier disadvantage when engaging in ranged combat.  ○ BAITED AND SET: You are a master planner.  Gain one free flashback, and take +1 effect when setting or having set a trap.  ○ LEAVE NO GROUND:  Gain a new gather information question:  Where do they feel safe?  Take +1d to engagement rolls when you act on that information.  When you engage in an errand on hostile ground, you cannot begin in a desperate position.  Tell the GM how you prepared for trouble.  ○ VETERAN:  Choose a special ability from another playbook.
  13. Best wishes from, presumably, all of us! Take all the time you need, the real world out there has to come first sometimes.
  14. Okay, I lied. Everyone in my household has COVID now, so that's put a dampener on things. Bleh.
  15. All right, back in town and to regular posting. Will post today.
  16. Larisa makes her way to where Mikołaj and his harlot are standing. She pretends to examine a nearby lot while she briefs him on what she's noticed. "Mateikis is interested in lepidopterology. It might be possible to convince him that it is a distasteful pastime, but he seems rather taken by the idea. I suggest we instead talk up the other lots. As a scholar, I'm sure you can feign knowledge of the matter and laud them for their superior contents."   She glances at the other coterie, turning back with a pout similar to Ana's in obvious mockery. "The others are a bigger nuisance. Perhaps Kazimir can find cause to challenge one of them to a duel when he finally deigns to arrive. Otherwise, maybe we can arrange for some contraband to be found on their persons. It would be such a shame if they had to be expelled before the auction began..." Larisa sighs, looking positively mournful at the thought.
  17. I'm not sure making them look gross would work, especially since the magebreaker would probably consider that a reason to toss Miko out, but giving Mateikis different ideas or occupying him otherwise would definitely work. Like, say, roping him or one of his friends I go a duel or such.   I'll also try too remember to always include the Clocks, even if nothing changed, to make the situation a little more readable at a glance.
  18. So if I'm reading this right, we want to discourage/intimidate other potential buyers so we can just buy the lot we want with little opposition?   Moving parts: Kamila - our "inside person" Ana - a mystery woman on Miko's arm, blonde Dominyk Mateikis - rich merchant, aspiring lepidopterist, from Larisa's eavesdropping Mystery Coterie - also from Larisa's keen assessment of the crowd   Found the clocks - they help a lot.   So, Kaz could show up and try to dissuade Mateikis from pursuing lepidoptery, hopefully reducing or eliminating him as a bidder for the Dabulis collection? Or maybe Miko could make the butterflies look gross or something?
  19. No worries, take your time! Thanks for letting us know. 🙂
  20. Sorry, out of town for a few days. On vacation, which is way more exhausting than my standard job (doing assorted yard work and maintenance at elderly relatives). Hoping to have a decent relaxing day tomorrow, but have been feeling wiped out otherwise.
