Detailed Description

The Forces of Corruption

Cademimu V is a bustling ecumenopolis on the Outer Rim, located along a major trade route and housing a plethora of sentient species. It is a center of commerce and industry, most likely being able to provide anything you might be looking for. It also has a strong military tradition, originally being settled as a waypoint for patrols in the sector, and having served as a major munitions supply for the Republic for a long time. It really is the place where anything seems possible, and where anyone can go to find opportunities, as long as they know where to look.

Which is where you come into the picture...

"Get your behinds of their seats, and be ready to get off, I´ve got to load and be on my way quickly!"

The voice of the Quarren pilot echoes back into the small passenger space of the transport. Pretty much on cue, you start to hear and see movement in the corner, as a number of pit droids deploy themselves from their compact forms, obviously getting ready to start a very hectic loading sequence. You take another look around inside the ship, once again taking in the small number of individuals other than yourself that have been the main cargo on this journey. The trip have mainly been a quiet one, and as such you know very little about them, though you do know one thing: All of them are in possession of a simple datapad of unknown origin, holding a single message. You know this because you have one as well.

To: <Insert Character Name>

Greetings, friend. We have been watching you for a while. You possess qualities and skills that our organization finds valuable, including a certain degree of self-interest and a flexible moral code. Therefore, we want to make you an offer. We have need of skilled individuals for an operation of great importance and should you succeed we promise you great rewards. Should you fail, you will not need to worry about...well anything really. If you are interested, follow the instructions at the end of this message. If you are not, we kindly ask that you dispose of this datapad quickly and thoroughly and forget anything it contains. We ask that you perform this task yourself, so that we do not need to take care of the disposal on our own. We think this arrangement would be most beneficial for the well-being of both parties

Following the message are instructions on how to gain passage on an arranged transport - the one you are currently aboard - to Cademimu V, as well as a cryptic instruction to "keep one ear straight" once you get there. With the exit ramp lowering, you watch the others around you prepare to exit the ship, and you figure you should do the same...

Welcome to Forces of Corruption, my very first attempt to run a sandbox-ish game in SWSE. I say sandbox-ish, since I still consider myself a pretty inexperienced GM and like to maintain a certain control of things. Therefore your expectations on the sandbox part of the game should probably be that it offers you freedom more in how you do things rather than what you do. You will have a degree of freedom in the latter department as well, but there will be an overarching plot in place.

I am looking for 3-6 players to join me in exploring the underworld of a massive ecumenopolis in the Old Republic. While I will enjoy any character applications, what I am looking for is characters who would work fine on the "wrong" side of the law, and whose morals could be considered questionable. You have been approached by an unknown party, but it does seem pretty clear that it´s not exactly for a regular employment. The game will be set in the time period between the end of Knights of the Old Republic II and the beginning of The Old Republic.

I´ve set the application deadline to May 31, just above three weeks, with the intent that I will take a final look at applications and select my players the following weekend.

  3. Cool, I thought the Bracer Computer was more or less just a datapad, but I'll take it! Good point on the Gather Intel and Trace as well, I originally thought it would be handy to use it on both computers and on the street. Trace is obviously the better choice in this case, so I'll drop training in Gather Intel and Initiative to move it to Mechanics and Stealth, then I'll drop Gimmick to take the Security Slicer talent from the Force Unleashed book. I also dropped the Visor and a few things for an Xcalq Stealth pack and some other equipment.
  4. Noted! Was taking one additional thanks to the Background, specifically Technology. Didn't realize that, my bad. Will update when I can.
  5. I´ll take a more in-depth look later, but at the moment I see a few things: You can´t actually integrate a Power Generator into your armor, it´s too big, you can only integrate Diminutive equipment into a Medium armor. Sorry if I mislead you, I thought the generator was smaller. For the effect you are going for, it seems the option is to use an Integrated Generator with a mounted weapon. You seems to have one skill too many, you should have 3 (Soldier) + 2 (Int) + 1 (Human) = 6. Controlled Burst is a talent from the Elite Trooper Prestige Class
  6. Long time indeed! Take your time, the ad is up for another three weeks :)
  7. Well, you picked up a Bracer Computer, that is a computer :) The only thing I´d say to consider is that both the bonus from having a friendly computer and the Computer Interface Visor is an equipment bonus and therefore they won´t stack. Also, I have to ask why you have chosen to train in Gather Information when you have the Trace talent. The latter makes the former mostly redundant.
  8. *waves* Long time no see! I'll have to see if I can think of a character to apply with as I'm having a major itch.
  9. Oh no, I'm well aware, I'm copying it over from another version of the character. Wanted to get it all there before I started cutting down and changing things, hence the WIP tag lol. Need to brush up on my Old Republic lore and the timeline of things, especially the state of the Mandalorian clans by the start of the game. Edit: just added my character sheet. Let me know if there's any issues at the moment.
  10. Thanks for the check up, I'll make some adjustments. It has been some time since I've made a character for SW Saga! edit: The cheapest option I can find for a computer is 5000 credits, which would cost all of my starting credits. So I've opted to take a few other tech items instead. My hope is to be able to pick up a computer once I have funds later, unless I'm calculating starting credits incorrectly (3d4 x 250 = 3000 + 2000 starting for a total of 5000). Also fixed the skill bonuses.
  11. I took a look at your character sheet, and thought there were a few things I should check up on, to avoid any misunderstandings: Right now, you appear to be a slicer without a computer. The basic datapad (which I think is what you have, based on cost and weight) has no capacity to run programs, or basically anything other than display, hold, and edit data. You have listed a lot of +2 misc modifiers for a number of skills. If these are meant to come from your Background, Occupation Backgrounds only give a +2 bonus to untrained skill checks with the skills from the Backgrounds list, which in your case means you would get on Persuasion as well as one Knowledge skill of your choice (assuming it is not one you are trained in). You have purchased two +2 Computer Spikes. To be clear, these are not items you can use to get a +2 to your skill check to Improve Access, these are items that can make their own skill checks to Improve Access with a +2 modifier.
  12. I took a look through your backstory, and noticed that there seems to be a misunderstanding of when this game takes place. You reference things like the Empire and the Clone Wars, but this game takes place thousands of years before that.
  13. Gotcha! I'll probably end up going with the Technology background for what I had in mind then.
  14. No. I don´t think it fits with the theme of Origin Backgrounds.
  15. Apologies for the repeated pings, but I was wondering if, given the fact that we're using backgrounds, you'd be okay with homebrewing a "Planet" of Origin background for Mandolorian characters (in case we do end up with multiple Mandos lol). Language: Mando'a Skills: Initiative, Endurance, Knowledge (tactics)
  16. I knew I forgot something, you can take max HP each level.
  17. Gotcha. As a side note, how are we determining HP after the first level? Maximizing the roll, rolling on our profile pages, etc.?
  18. Description "Fingers" appears to be an average Gand to most. In truth he is actually a fair bit shorter than other Gand, but most wouldn't be able to tell unless another Gand was present. His stocky build and ruddy brown complexion allow him to easily blend in with others in a crowd. The only real distinguishing feature is his mechanical breathing apparatus, occasionally giving off the faint aroma of ammonia. He prefers to dress in a simple set of robes which conceal his utility belt, an array of technical items, as well as a wrist mounted computer under his sleeve. He also keeps a small blaster securely tucked in his waist band. Personality Many Gand are seen as aloof and introspective. "Fingers" is no exception. He can seem a bit off putting since all of his verbal communication extends from his built-in transliterator. Often the tone or manner of the electronic voice fails to convey his emotion, and the peculiar manner of speech used by Gand can lead to some misunderstanding. This has caused him a fair bit of trouble in the past, but nothing he couldn't weasel his way out of. Overall, he is trustworthy, provided there is some coin in it for him, and he will make his best effort to see that whatever task he is doing is done right. He is never one to let an opportunity to pass by and is often content to sit and watch others, preferring to wait for an opportunity before moving first. Background Born on Gand, he grew up in a relatively comfortable and wealthy family. His early academic prowess earned him a spot at a leading academic institution where his advanced technical ability was able to earn the right to a name, Zorril Qooyn, and the opportunity to be voted a Findsman. However, he soon became dissatisfied with the strict training and high level of devotion. His mentors declared him unworthy of completing his training and his disenfranchisement with Gand society began to fester. The young Gand left his home world when was able to secure an indentured service position on a gas freighter. For three years he worked as a laborer on a bulk freighter servicing the Core Worlds, until fate intervened. What was supposed to be a normal run along the Hydian Way turned into a disaster. A small fleet of raiders intercepted the freighter convoy and pillaged every ship. Lucky for him the pirates decided to be merciful and take prisoners. Despite remaining in bonds he saw an opportunity. He offered his captors the chance at a greater score. Over the course of his service, he had been able to gain access to trade manifests, commodity records, hyperlane schedules, and more. His technically ability allowed him to discreetly slice into the trading corporation computers and extract valuable data. His plan had been to sell it once his indenture was complete. However, since the raiders put an early end to that, he saw no reason not to bargain with them. In exchange for the data, they granted him freedom. Fingers was now able to carve his own path in the galaxy. He quickly garnered the attention of other criminal groups and found himself doing the odd jobs a freelance slicer would undertake. His ability to quietly slice into a system, gather whatever valuable data was at hand, and log out discreetly gave him the handle "Fingers" and a reputation as reliable, even if he was little odd. Over a decade later Fingers is residing on Nar Shaddaa where he is still taking jobs that capture his interest. The recent anonymous message about a job on Cademimu V piqued that interest, and he now finds himself sitting on a shuttle among a curious group of individuals...
  19. The Internal Generator power integrated equipment and weapons, i.e. the kind that is built into the armor. If you want to connect something external, you can always install a regular generator into your armor, or attach one to it and carry it around.
  20. Question regarding the Internal Generator armor upgrade. Would it be possible to use said upgrade to power a Rifle weapon (ie a Light Repeating Blaster) via connected cables, given the weapon states it can be attached to a power generator for longer use?
  21. Lmao, though granted it would kinda make sense for the kind of work implied for we're being recruited for. That said, kinda considering either not taking armor or going for something lower cost, given the cost of most armor alongside weapons and gear, and the talent investment to use it properly lol.
  22. As I understand it, the beskar'gam armors, or the Manadlorian Armor Template, pretty much act as replacements for them which is why they weren't updated to bring them in line with the later version of the modification system. So they probably should've been errata'd out entirely, really. Now, I'm really tempted to make one too for an Opps, All Mandos party. Somebody working for the mysterious employer would be getting chewed out for it "Dammit, why have we got six Mandalorians? We had a whole vetting process, a highly diverse short-list of criminals and specialists. I sent you 12 memos about it! Did you read any of them?! Did you even send datapads to anyone who wasn't a kriffin' Mando?"
  23. I´m not looking to turn anyone into an NPC, and honestly almost forgot DSS was a thing. I generally don´t care for alignment mechanics, and it probably will be no issue. But in case it comes up, yes, you can still do things that would result in a DSS increase after you´ve hit the "cap", but your score stays the same. You don´t have to, it´s your choice. For starting equipment, you don´t need to make those checks. You will be operating mostly out of Cademimu V, though there could possibly be the occasional travel to other places, it depends a bit on what you do. No.
  24. Think that one's been answered lol. Seems like we're gearing up for a bunch of Mandos.
