About This Game

I'd like to see psionic classes in play. I planned this as a one-shot, but we'll see if there's general interest in going on with the story.

Detailed Description

The Setting

In any world, people want to travel from one place to another. However, outside of the stable regions, our continent has been invaded by some unknown force, making the general landscape volatile and dangerous. There are Rifts that open to other worlds, allowing their environment to seep into this one, including 'natural' phenomena and creatures. People who can't use psionics (no manifester levels) are extremely susceptible to these dangers, so they seek psionically awakened ones to guide and escort them from one safe region to another.

Whether out of altruism, financial gain, duty or desire for excitement, the characters are a group of such guides currently in Earth-helm. By chance, there's a small group of nobles intent on leaving in a day, not waiting for a trader group. They are willing to pay much better than traders, only they know why.

  1. What's new in this game
  2. No worries. Thanks for letting us know. Good luck getting everything settled.
  3. All good, thanks for the opportunity and for letting us know.   Hope everything goes well for you!   Best wishes to you and everyone else here! Will hopefully see you all around the forums!
  4. Well, I hope it is nothing you can't handle ultimately. It's just a game, it is fine, of course. Take care, and see you around !
  5. 😞   Hello, guys. My life's turned upside down and I'm in too many games to handle right now. I considered things, and I'm very sorry for this, but I'm going to cancel this game. See you around, and hope to game with you in the future.
  6.     Caeleth grins and buckles very slightly as Shakka claps him on the shoulder and shake him. Strong as Caeleth is, the other half giant is even more powerfully built. "Right. We will avoid water where possible, and manage it when it becomes necessary."   Turning to the musician playing a sad tune, he queries "Minstrel! What have you heard of lightning striking from the ground, or psionic crystalline creatures?"   Looking at Belgrade, he inquires "What is strange?" Show this Caeleth Joronsborg   Half giant Vitalist AC: 16 (Touch: 12, Flat-Footed: 14) | HP: 12/12 Initiative: +2 | Fort: +5 | Ref: +2 | Will: +5 | Speed: 30' | PP: 5/5 | Low light vision Large heavy mace: +3  (2d6+3, 20x2)
  7. Thanks! It was very fun, and we're home safe now. :)
  8. SCHAKKA Half-Giant Soulknife (notes) AC: 20 | HP: 18/18 | PP: 2/2 Fort: +3 | Ref: +3 | Will: +3 Resources | Spells | Skills   Shakka lets out a big, booming laugh. "Ya see?!" he claps a strong hand on the healer's shoulder, giving the big man a friendly shake. "This guy, he gets it!"
  9.   Caeleth nods in agreement with Schakka. Water can be dangerous, not only is movement impeded, but there is the risk of drowning, and hidden dangers as well. Lightning striking from the ground without warning seemed very concerning, as are the crystalline creatures. He listens for a few moments to the sad tune the minstrel is playing.   Show this Caeleth Joronsborg   Half giant Vitalist AC: 16 (Touch: 12, Flat-Footed: 14) | HP: 12/12 Initiative: +2 | Fort: +5 | Ref: +2 | Will: +5 | Speed: 30' | PP: 5/5 | Low light vision Large heavy mace: +3  (2d6+3, 20x2)
  10. Maelwin Ashborn - Human Psion (Shaper) ----------------------------------------------------------- While he had only left the house of his family a couple of months ago, Maelwin had already learned a lot more than he could have conceived, and he had realized he had just started. The young man's wanderlust had been severely picked, and while chilling out with his latest caravaneers, he was also on the lookout for other jobs that would entail traveling, preferentially in a new direction.
  11. In my stat bar for my IG post, I listed the Mech's HP separately from Belgrade's since it can be sundered separately like normal armor. Any damage done to Belgrade is divided evenly between the mech and himself, with the mech taking any odd numbers after being split. If the suit hits 0hp before Belgrade (generally in the case of sundering or object-only damage sources), it dissolves along with its weapons. So if Belgrade is dealt a total of 9 damage, his HP would go down by 4 and the Mech's would go down by 5. If Belgrade hits 0hp first, the mech is automatically dismissed. So while he has a total split of 20 & 12 HP, it would only take a total of 24 points of damage taken to still put him at 0hp (as he would take 12 and the mech would take 12), and the mech would be dismissed even if the mech would still have had 8hp left. The 'Hardness' score is an Object's version of DR - it simply deducts the value from incoming damage like DR, but for all damage sources.
  12. Congratulations to her! I hope you guys have a fabulous (and safe) trip!
  13.     Belgrade - Forgeborn Aegis (Mecha Sentinel) AC: 18 (Touch: 15, Flat-Footed: 13) | Mech HP: 20/20 | HP: 12/12 | Hardness: 1 Initiative: +5 | Fort: +4 | Ref: +5 | Will: +3 | Speed: 30' | PP: 4/4 | Darkvision: 60' Melee: +7 / +7  (2d4+6, 20x2) | Ranged: +6 (1d8, 20x2, 30')   Standing silent and unmoving as the crowd parts to maneuver around him, clad in a suit of crystallized ectoplasm, Belgrade stares at the notice board outside of a tavern. He had been there for several minutes already, trying to puzzle out the incomprehensible notice. "Home-Made Pies! Several varieties!" How would a home create a pie? Obviously, the home in question would need to be enchanted somehow, but wouldn't that simply be a magical oven-made pie or something similar? Why would someone need to enchant an entire domicile just to conjure up pies? Why would someone incur such an extravagant expense for the sake of pastries? Are they really so pleasurable as to be worth such an expense? Are the pies created randomized, or is there a way to predetermine what pie you require the building to make? People who need to eat are truly odd and seem to go to great lengths to indulge in the practice. "How very strange."
  14. I apologize for the dreadful timing but my wife and I will be out of town from tomorrow early morning until late Wednesday evening, so I won't be able to post until Wednesday night or Thursday morning Central European Summer Time (CEST). We're driving from home (Germany) to Paris France to hit Disneyland Paris Monday and Tuesday. We're celebrating before she starts her new nice job next month. I will get a post in today, though!
  15. SCHAKKA Half-Giant Soulknife (notes) AC: 20 | HP: 18/18 | PP: 2/2 Fort: +3 | Ref: +3 | Will: +3 Resources | Spells | Skills   " ... I heard ya ... " the big, burly giantkin argues with a rumbling chuckle as the debate continues on with no end in sight, " ... and I'm telling ya, forget yer deserts, forget yer underground caves, forget yer icy tundra, it's all a buncha crap. The most dangerous place to be is a boat in a big body of water." He pauses a moment before continuing, "I can walk across a desert. I can dig out of a tunnel. I sink like a stone, and I can't breathe water, and I'm pretty sure neither can you. Sixty seconds ... then yer done!" He defiantly folds his massive arms over his meaty chest, as if defying anyone to find fault in his logic.
  16. It was a usual day in Earth-helm, the early summer came with an occasional rain of little black rocks that scraped but did broke anything. Crops were no worse than the years before, and the townsfolk felt secure behind the walls. The evening in the Hall of Roads was loud and heavy with the scent of roasting, frying and cooking, the minstrel currently in town was playing a rather sad tune. Outside, where the noise was much milder, several guides were discussing their experiences about different lands around Earth-helm. There were some worrying news from the north, about lightning striking from the ground without signs to warn of the danger, and crytalline creatures that were dangerous both physically and psionically. OOC Everyone can decide whether their characters are out talking business, or inside eating/drinking/relaxing in the beginning. Soon every PC will be called to talk about a job. I'm looking for a short warm up now with a few posts from everyone. You can make up non-world-shaking details about your earlier travels if you'd like to.
  17. I separated setting text and images. There's a little more on the setting, but since you're going to leave soon, it's just a sketch to give you a feel of the place.
  18. Woo! We all made it in! Congrats everyone and thanks fabulist! Excited for the game!!! 😀
  19. Yes, but not specifically psionics-based, rather setting-based: Fey (because a lot of the land is wilderness now), Orvian (not from the Darklands, but other worlds) and Aklo (a rarely spoken dialect of Orvian), and also the native languages of the psionic races. The bar scene is really funny 🙂 I'm working again after two weeks off, so I'm slower as you may have noticed, but more setting info and the opening scene is coming tomorrow for the four of you. I'll change access and invite you.
  20. ...and the bartender asks "Aren't there meant to be three of you?"   One of the half giants replies "Two halves make a whole!"
  21. "Two Half-Giants, a Human, and a Forgeborn walk into a bar..."
  22. I will add traits tonight. That will make me complete.
