About This Game

Several decades ago people started reporting seeing things that weren’t there. Or rather scientists started to note that some people who reported seeing things that others couldn’t were starting to agree with each other in surprising detail. Sure there have always been trends such as alien watchers agreeing on broad details, but these were very specific details. Sightings of a particular type of six leaved plant growing in helices under damp bridges. Or seeing new breeds of rabbits with unusual fur patterns. Mundane things from otherwise normal people that only drew attention because of the fact that no one else saw them. The sightings varied by region and time as would expected of animals and planets in different climates around the world, but the most striking and exotic thing was that everyone afflicted reported seeing auroras on otherwise clear nights. And thus in the popular parlance the affliction became known as Aurora Syndrome. There was a bit of a media fuss, but since most of these people were otherwise completely sane they were soon released. And being sane most of them kept quiet about future sightings to blend in. In the short excitement tuned news cycle of modern life, this wasn't much of a story, so Aurora Syndrome faded into the background. It became something children were diagnosed with early in their lives and learned to keep to themselves or only talk about with others that had the syndrome.

  1. What's new in this game
  2. Ittle nods, and brings up several pictures of serious looking business meetings. "This rampant seems to be after money for some reason. We can't figure out why it would want that, but its thralls have infiltrated and taken over several large businesses. They seem to be intent on gradually merging their conquests into some kind of mammoth business." "Fortunately there aren't that many thralls. This rampant seems more selective than most about who it chooses. Generally it seems like one or two people from each business is enthralled. Though that's just who we can see walking around. It's possible it has a lot more hidden in its base."
  3. "She's right," Anna confirmed as her own thoughts slid back to memories of the thrall-herding Rampant they had engaged with, after evading its horde of enslaved thrall-servitors. "That one was trying to spread its influence across the radio waves to bring even more people under its spell..." "Are there... are there any details about those thralls you can give us? If we could get something specific about them, or pictures... We might be able to shrink down the area we'll need to start with. Maybe?" She had to hope they couldn't all be wearing non-descript business suits, after all. Which left how their group would be able to search the area. "The last rampant we dealt with that used thralls like this, something in the thrall connection let those people have a partial ability to sense us while we were transformed. But not if you had some other way to hide yourselves in our Scion forms. Do you remember?" She asked of Leslie, "I could still walk by them while I was using that weapon..."

Leslie puts a gloved finger to her lips and smiles. "How...interesting." She grips her chin between thumb and forefinger, thinking. "We've battled thralls before. Of course, pawns have little hope of defeating a queen...or her knight." She smirks at Anna, though she remembers a half-second later how many queens and knights she's lost to pawns when playing chess. She'd learned to play at her parents' insistence, but never did get good at it. "Still, we shouldn't underestimate them. The last rampant seemed to want worship from its thralls, which I understand and respect, but also violence. We weren't there to see it, but they turned their city block into a warzone. Do we have any idea what it's using the thralls for?" She considers what thralls could get up to in the Business District and frowns. Her parents work there. They can't be thralls, she thinks. I'd know, wouldn't I? She spends so much time at the High Rise or battling rampants now that she's almost never home. Even her schoolwork is slipping. And yet, her parents haven't come down on her yet. So far, she's assumed she'd just escaped their notice, but is there something else going on?
  5. No problem it's my job as DM after all.
  6. I'm sorry I couldn't give you any ideas. I wracked my brain but I'm not good at innovating.
  7. Alright new chapter is up. Sorry for the delay I was having trouble thinking of what to have it be about.
  8. The moochees have been busy with the addition of the new girls to the team. As promised they have expanded the High Rise floor allotted to the scions. In fact it would more accurate to say floors at this point as they have access to a separate floor with more training facilities and quarters for each individual scion. And after much haranguing from Morgan the moochees have even built a special fully mundane apartment with a separate link to the city for Morgan's sisters to live in. Even beyond training facilities the moochees have expanded the moochee support team that aids the scions. Now they have an entire scout division that tracks rampants and reports on their movements. On the one hand this is certainly more convenient than randomly patrolling. On the other hand it also means that the scions need to respond to a steady stream of tough rampant incursions. And another one seems to have cropped up. The scions have assembled in the briefing room where Ittle is telling them about this latest threat. "We've named it Rose Enchantress for its ability to attract and retain thralls. Based on the thrall sightings from our scouts we believe it's lairing somewhere in the Juniper Business District. Which unfortunately makes this somewhat difficulty as you can't just go in and tear everything apart. You'll need to find it's lair first and for once actually hope that it's formed a dimensional pocket." "Questions"
  9. I'm all for surprises! Bring it, Arcane!
  10. Any requests for the next chapter? Things you'd like to do. Even the kind of monsters you'd like to fight.
  11. Looking forward to it! Of course, don't rush yourself...we obviously have no room to judge when it comes to speed. 😉
  12. Alright I'll get to work on that. See if I can get the new chapter up today or tomorrow?
  13. I'm having ear problems so I couldn't finish my update. I think we can move on to the next chapter/pre-chapter episode while I get it fixed and I can do my update then. Probs won't need to roll anything before a while anyways
  14. Awesome, Morgan is good to go then.
  15. let me know if all's good with the update.
  16. The simplest way would be to increase the rank of her damage power. The higher it is the larger the DC any enemies need to beat in order to avoid taking damage. You could also try making a new power either that goes all in on damage or does something trickier. Like an affliction that still causes issues even if they beat the DC.
  17. Honestly Morgan can damn near hit anything as far as I've seen but does little in terms of damage. So anyway to up her damage output meaningful would be where I'd like to focus.
  18. What do you want to improve on Morgan?
  19. Schedule also got clogged up. I've been trying some stuff, so I'll be fine on the assistance side of things
  20. I'm alive, work kicked into high gear thanks to some moron didn't listen to my cyber safety course. Also assistance would be grand
  21. Alright are you ready? Or would you like assistance with your characters?
  22. My sheet is updated and I think I am ready for the next chapter!
