I watched shows like Black Mirror and The Orville to know that building a society on social cred is a VERY bad idea. -

Huh, that is scary to think about. What if someone hacks those computers and makes the AI think weird? I don't think we should let computers make those kind of decisions. Advice maybe, but not decisions. Isn't that how we got Skynet in the movie , The Terminator? I did get to watch an interview with a Japanese lawyer and court cases are decided by three judges and five jurors. Interesting how different that is from American court. -

I think I have heard that in China, judges are required to use AI, and if they disagree with it, they need to give a thorough explanation on why they arent deciding like the AI -

Sounds like something in my Shadowtrot setting. AI lawyer advice. Not great, but very cheap. -

Don't get me wrong, I have stories of COMPETENT lawyers to share. Second-handed ones but still. I'm not speaking in term of skills. But my ex-gf for exemple had to deal with a few incomptent/vulture ones against her parents. And I hear other stories that disgusted me too but that's aother story. In short, I wish i could ask an "Alexa" what are the local law for X and answer me. Or find me what are the documents I would need to fullfill to fix X situation. That kind of stuff. I understand that mediation, being in court and so forth need a real lawyer but I wish we could get assistance with a touch on my phone. -

I've dealt with a few lawyers and they were perfectly fine, business experiences. I've been fortunate to not have dealt with a vulture one. -

No, only second-hand stories actually. And I'm very happy about not having to deal with those vultures. I'm sure idealistically that their must be well-meaning lawyers out there but... I have yet to meet one or hear stories about one. Corruption is everywhere and I just see them as part of it. And besides, lawyers are teached to forget your principles if you want to have cases, especially if you want to defend people who are obviously guilty. -

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you've not had good experiences with lawyers. -

Darn... cause to me, if there is one profession I REALLY wish would be render less relevant, it would be lawyers. I still wish all state laws (or at least the most common ones) would be compiled into an phone app for when you need lawful advices. Like, all the rules for housing, traffic, if you enter a construction zone, etc. -

That does sound creepy. Could be dangerous too, when people who don't want to let go of dead relatives stay attached to chatbots that imitate their dead relatives. I've seen some AI get trained on rocket science and then asked to help design rockets. They got a lot of their math wrong. The problem with current AI is it looks for patterns in language and imitates that. It doesn't understand what it says yet, not can it fact check itself. It'll be a while until AI can do the work of a lawyer. -

There were lawers who tried to use AI and were clowned for it. I actually think AI could never be a lawer. It require nuance and even feelings. -

And I swear people are too chickens to create a law app. It would make lawyers a lot less relevant and Im curious how a AI lawyer would fare. -

That true. I do fear the day it would. I actually have heard of "AI necromancy' projects: The idea is that you feed something like Chat GPT with the messages someone has exchanged for you. And imagine that if is a relative or an old friend it can be a LOT of info to feed on... So you can keep chatting with your close ones after their death: the chat will "roleplay" them based on the messages you had with them ober the years. For me it's sound VERY creepy and unnerving. -

But that right there is the problem with AI. Information is useless if it's not explained in a way you can understand. How many times have you personally not understood things I've said, either because of language barriers or you don't have that experience, and I helped you understand by putting it in a way more aligned to your experience? AI can't do that, so its "alien" explanation might as well be garbage. -

Alright. Printery is the place where stuff are printed and host printt machines. The AI correct. even if it explain it like an alien. If it wasnt obivouse Cattenberg is a refrence to Guttenberg the IRL inventor of printing. Cattenberg's base was the printery was also a children school. The Marquisate encourage literacy and educstion because on the long run it improve industry. (And yes. Also to spread propaganda) Conviently, it pretty close to the Riverfolk Blokes Block. -

He answer him as he climb the wagon, in a acid cold tone: " I never said his widow LIVED in Honeywell, I said she happens to be there. You're not listening and you seem very forgetful... Like how you "forgot" to bring the medical mallet that I saw behind you in your caravan when I climb on it. You said it's the lack of ressources that made you unable to save him, yet you didn't bring any more then the strict minimum. You are getting old, cruel and scattered minded, not good for a doctor. Farewell! " He had not said anything before but after his comment about not trusting snakes, he wanted to sting the old rabbit where it hurt. He knew exactly how much the rabbit had travelled light and that he had only used ressources he had on his person to make the run there. Sure he did his best once there, with the ressources he brought with him... but it's clear he kept a lot of stuff for the travel ahead. At first, Slithers wouldnt have said anything... but the old fool had to open his mouth. To Sadukan: " That's where his wife is isn't it? That otter? You know your way around, I don't. Please lead us. " -

So I looked up what a Printery is, cause I'm not sure, and the search engine said: "A Printery is where printing, printing" And this answer now explains to you why I personally hate AI as a search engine and would rather go find my old paperback dictionary from storage. -

Rikitikitavi argue with Slithers about Ripley. "I dont think it fair of you to judge our master like that." Sandukan groan. "I think it's completly fair." as he carry the body. The group pass by more and more refuges, and finally get to where used to be the Westren Gate. Sandukan "We need to get to the Riverfolk Blokes Block." Hoop&Ripley&Brixie The wolves look at Ripley with narrowed eyes and then... slowly nod. The skull patterned wolf shrug. "You have good points, Captian Firefox.' Ripley blinks once. Then he realizes that these are, in fact, the same wolves as attacked him in the forest. That little detail had slipped his notice. Gods of wind and sky, he was tired. But he cannot afford to show weakness. Instead, he flashes them an evil grin. "Aye," he says in a calm voice, but one that dances upon the edge of a knife, "An' I gave him fair warnin' too. An' a chance t' back down. An' a chance t' join me instead. But nay. He decided that it would be more 'fun' t' fight a wounded fox. But that was his last mistake." He spreads his arms wide, gesturing to the city around them, though he keeps one hand on the haft of his weapon. "Look around ye! Hear th' chaos? Th' confusion? Th' panic? Hmm? Drink it in, mates. Get a good fill. The cats tried t' stop me too. An' now Captain Viscount Cattenberg lies dead by me own paw." He laughs madly. "Ye see mates, those who get in me way have a nasty habit o' winding up dead. So, decision time." He slams the butt of his polearm into the ground for emphasis. "Do ye wish t' get in me way? Again? And see how many more o' ye wind up dead? Or, do ye want t' get behind me..." He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a key. "An' see where this fancy little key I looted off o' the Viscount goes?"
