  1. I apologize for my sudden absence this past week. I went on a small trip for Thanksgiving and ended up having to spend several days in the hospital. I'm ok, just had a mild concussion and several bruised ribs. I'm just on tonight to say I'm still here, and I will get posting again tomorrow.

Turning to the rest of its team, it relayed what it had discovered. "It seems as though there have already been a few engagements with this type of Abyss, dubbed Variant 881. They tend to "hunt" in packs, and are vicious in their attack. They are extremely agile, and exceptionally cunning. There isn't much more data on these beasts, but I plan to record additional information and upload it to the REAPER database upon returning to the barracks. We will need to be cautious but also swift so as to avoid unnecessary collateral damage, both to the building and to the civilians."

The android's head cocked slightly at Pandora's question, a low, mechanical whirring accompanying the movement. "Asks the simian," it quipped. Unit 25-2213-87's neural processors had begun rewriting and adding to some of the base social programming that had been implanted in it over the months spent with its current squad. It had begun to pick up on sarcasm and innuendo, mostly from Pandora and Hiroto, and it had begun replying in kind, though without any regularity or predictability. It caught the squad off-guard a lot of the time, as androids never responded in such a manner.   Accessing it's wireless link, Raptor searched through various local news broadcasts, photo and video uploads, and even the REAPER database to try to find any additional information regarding the attack that might give them an edge in the fight to come.

The room was spartan, containing nothing except a workbench for the android to effect repairs on itself and its gear, a weapon and equipment rack, and its personal charging station with an uplink to the REAPER database. The android had limited access to the network, only having clearance to view the dossiers of its wards, information on the currently known abyss forms and speculations on as yet unseen variants, and the local news and weather.   When the call came in, a new file downloaded into Raptor's cortex detailing the mission objectives, priority targets, and the location of the attack. It also suggested several routes of ingress. The android studied the file detachedly as it finished charging, calmly grabbing its weapons and equipment before making its way to the helipad, where a matte black, military helicopter waited, spun up and ready to take off. Upon reaching the aircraft, it climbed aboard, taking a seat just inside the door to act as a lookout while in flight.

Reversing the trajectory within its neural processors, it turned to look at the location from where it had come. The android's standard visuals weren't registering anything, so it cycled through several enhanced optical displays, settling on thermal imaging. A bloom of heat appeared, resolving into a humanoid figure, crouched and watching the conversation. Unit 25-2213-87 gazed into apparent nothingness for a short moment, before turning back to the budding artist.   "That line of thinking would imply mainstream acceptance of both styles, individually, which is true of neither. That is not to say that neither are art, or that neither have gained any amount of acceptance. It is simply a statement that both styles of artistic expression enjoy popularity within less mainstream communities."
  6. Sorry, I'm newseriously, brand new; this is my first game, and I was wondering about your augmentations and lack of stunts. Are you taking extra augs in place of having stunts, in order to keep your refresh higher?
  7. The android had taken a couple moments to locate a charging port that he could access. Finding one close to the dining table, he plugged in. Then he turned to face Hiroto to answer their questions. "Correct; drawing manga and defacing property have differing legalities. Legality has no bearing on popularity. Though not artistic, many humans in past ages have been martyred for their beliefs, which the governments of their time decreed as illegal. But those same people often had great followings, especially after their martyrdom. Many contemporary graffiti artists have garnered themselves great followings as well, despite the method of their artistic expression being illegal. Manga is an art form originating in Japan, though its popularity has started to spread across the globe. The legality of manga itself is dependent upon its content, and perhaps the country it is purchased in, but in general there are no laws against its creation.   Both are popular styles of art appreciated by a subset of the population, whether you want to specify Japan, or the world as a whole. Thus, both are examples of subcultural, popular art."
  8. I am withdrawing my application from this game. Thanks for the opportunity.
  9. Satisfied with its reconnoitering, Unit 25-2213-87 returned to the mess area and joined its new squad. Its lenses peered at each member in turn, taking in their features and cross-referencing their faces against the dossiers uploaded into its neural cortex.   "Abbadon, birth name redacted; Gifted," it intoned in its deep, mechanical voice as it scanned the big guy behind the counter. "Extreme physical strength and resilience. Enjoys...cooking." Raptor almost sounded perplexed, though its monotone voice gave no indication one way or another. It looked down at the dish of mochi, picking one up and turning it over as if studying it. "File addendum: favors preparing mochi. Mochi; soft, semi-sweet dough with assorted fillings, often steamed and served warm. Chilled variations also exist, gaining popularity."   Replacing the mochi on the platter, the android turned to the next member of the team. "Hoshi, Hiroto; Gifted. Displays advanced mental capabilities, specializing in deception and creating illusions. Enjoys creating subcultural, popular art and stories." Raptor made no acknowledgement of their eye color, its gaze already moving onto the next person, though whether the android had noticed or not was left a mystery.   Unit 25-2213-87 looked to the final member currently in the room. The others couldn't tell, but the android's scrutiny intensified behind the red optics in its head. Warning icons flickered in and out of existence in Raptor's visual feed, as if his neural network couldn't decide if the woman was a threat to the android or not. Her file certainly gave the impression that she could be, and a serious one at that. All this happened in less than a second. "Bergman, Natalie, codename 'Pandora;' Sinner. Espionage and cyberwarfare specialist." The unit paused for a moment, still staring down Pandora. "...Hacker," it finally added.   After its vocal and visual log of the residents currently assigned to this barracks, Unit 25-2213-87 bowed, though its body was clearly unsuited to such movements. Still, it was better than the average tourist's attempts. After straightening back up, Raptor spoke once more. "I am Unit Two-Five dash Two-Two-One-Three dash Eight-Seven; designation 'Raptor.' I have been assigned to this squad as its Angel. My prime directive is the safeguarding of this squad in its pursuit of hunting the Abyss and closing the portals they spawn from."
  10. The barracks door slid open with a whisper. Silhouetted in the doorway stood a figure with angular, inhuman edges and red eyes, completely motionless. It stood there for several seconds before stepping over the threshold and into the light; an android. It moved with a predatory grace as it slowly toured the building, observing its other occupants briefly before continuing on. There would be time to interact once Raptor had surveyed its new posting.

  12. I have. I was waiting for your reply in Discord before deciding on taking an augmentation, another stunt, or both.   Additionally, I have come up with some stunts (with the help of Kaiju Cuddlebug). Please let me know if these are acceptable, or how I might change them to fit within the system's parameters.   I've also dropped the Cyberwarfare aspect in favor of something more focused towards the premise of this game; hunting the Abyss.
  13. I love all of these. I think I'm definitely going to use the Stealth bonus and increased Spotter bonus ones.   This leads me to a question; we get three free stunts. Does this mean there is a way to have more than three?

With each battle, its squad's efficiency in eliminating the threat increases, an anomaly among Androids and their teams. Analysts within both the government and the tech companies that produce the Androids have been unable to figure out why Raptor and its squad have such a comparatively low casualty rate, where others constantly need replenishment. What they don't realize is that Unit 25-2212-87's programming has evolved beyond its prime directive of protecting the Gifted above all others. It has learned that the more a squad becomes accustomed to each other's habits, quirks, etc. and works cohesively, the better the odds of the team surviving. That in turn leads to an increase in their success when dealing with the Abyss and the portals that spawn them. To Unit 25-2213-87, this means it applies its Warden directive to all members of its squad, regardless of status. Other squads, and even some of the public have ridiculed Raptor for this methodology, saying it cares too much or that it must really be a Sinner underneath the armor, just trying to stay alive. No other instances of such an anomaly have been reported, at least not in official records, and the government always seems to tactfully shift the focus to other aspects of the Abyss incursions when questioned about it.   Initially sent into action in the first months of the incursions, Raptor has compiled data from each engagement. Each Abyss it has battled against, average casualty rates amongst humanoid REAPERs, variations on portal size and amount of effort to close them...anything to do with survivability and combatting the Abyss, it assesses, cross-references, and catalogues for later application in the field. Its advanced optics suite, dubbed "Prey-sight," grants Unit 25-2213-87 the ability to see the ultraviolet and infrared bands of the electromagnetic spectrum, allowing it to see more of its environment and its target than standard optics or biological eyes can. This helps the unit pinpoint weak spots in a target's defenses, or to spot details when scanning the area for information.   ⌬ON PERSON GEAR⌬ Hand Cannon, .45 ACP  Railgun Rifle Personal Repair Kit Weapon Maintenance Kit Combat Blade Grapnel Gun Short-Range Transceiver Internal Comms System Integrated GPS/Navigation Suite
  15. I have never played the Fate system before, would you be willing to help a 'new blood' learn? This setting has me very much intrigued, but I know nothing about how to actually play. I've looked through the SRD a bit, and it seems to me character creation is much more abstract than D&D/Pathfinder or Warhammer 40K rpg's, which are my usual bread and butter.
  16. Dingus might be just as liable to fly away when stuff hits the fan as he is if he doesn't make out better than everyone else when divvying up any loot. 😉

  18.   From what I've read in the Serpent's Skull Player's Guide, its basically land the whole time. It goes so far as to mention characters for a seafaring/ship-based game would have a hard time effectively using certain abilities in the adventure.
  19. The Legendary Alchemist doesn't use mutagens the same way as the base Alchemist. Would you allow me to forgo the Alchemical Discipline Legendary ability altogether, in place of of the base class's Mutagens ability, in order to take the Winged Marauder racial archetype? If not, no biggie, I'll stick with the base Alchemist.
  20. Will you allow players with Craft skills to "purchase" items they could craft at the normal 1/3 crafting cost?   Edit: And do you want us to take average starting gold, or roll for it?

Beady, yellow eyes peer out from under a heavy brow, and look down a long, pointed nose. His mouth is filled with tiny, dagger-like teeth even pointier than his nose. Dingus wears a grubby, once-white tunic underneath his leather jerkin, as well as black leather pants, boots, and gloves. When riding Wingus, he wears a face mask fashioned from tanned animal hide and decorated with two antler horns. Easily distracted by shiny things, especially treasure and magical, glowing liquids, Dingus has managed to escape both personal physical harm, and alert the rest of the Jenivere's crew to threats on the seas, simply because something shone or reflected light into his avaricious little eyes.   Background:  Dingus was hired onto the Jenivere ages ago, and serves as the ship's lookout. Practically living in the crow's nest, the little goblin has carved out his own personal slice of solitude, away from the hustle bustle on the decks below. Not lazy by any means, he is good at his job, aided by his animal companion Wingus. Mounted on the dire bat, Dingus often takes to the skies while the Jenivere sails, ranging ahead and behind to scout for land or trouble. Another bonus of taking the crow's nest for himself, the alchemist is free to mix his concoctions away from prying, suspicious eyes.
