  1. Alright, thread's been made! My sheet is there right now for review (hopefully I didn't mess it up, do let me know if I made a mistake anywhere), and I'll see about filling in backstory, descriptions, etc. over the week. I've already got a fairly solid idea of the details, so it's just a matter of writing them down.

  3. Alright! Sheet's finally done (I think). I'll make a thread tonight after I've gotten some sleep, then see about filling in all the fluff and such.
  4. Not in particular, although Dragonslayer seems cool conceptually. Why, any recommendations?
  5. More Adept, I basically want to go for a melee street sam with some spell-based utility. Of course, needing high Attribute and Magic priority's left me with less skills to spread around, which is the main thing I've been grappling with.
  6. Alright, I'll make sure to have a thread started by the original deadline! Sorry for the delay on my end, chargen's just been taking a long time. Something about the system really brings out the part of me that wants to tinker around and tweak my build constantly to get it just right. And then another idea hits me and I start from scratch again 🫠 Current iteration is for a human (I dropped the troll/ork angle after all) mystic adept. Currently wrestling with myself to decide whether or not he's a former medic, former security guard, or former/current vigilante. Originally was working from the angle that he's a former S-K corpo since he's a drake, but uh...Everything I'm reading on the setting makes that sound like a Bad idea. Boy the extra points from SINer make it tempting though. Might honestly just drop the drake angle entirely; Keep it simple so I don't run around chasing too many angles in chargen.
  7. Hm. Couple questions for you, . 1.) Minotaurs get Goring Horns, which lets them attack with their horns using Exotic Melee Weapon as the attack skill. However, Western Drakes get horns too as a natural weapon, which uses Unarmed like all natural weapons. I'm not sure why they use different skills, especially since they have the exact same stats, so would it be okay to say Minotaurs can use their horns with Unarmed instead? 2.) Since Western Drakes get a horn attack when they dracomorph, and minotaurs already have horns, would it be okay to take one of the other dracoform natural weapons, like claws or fangs?
  8. Hello! I'd like to change my name to SirKnightOwl please. Thanks in advance!
  9. Got it, thanks for the advice! So, specialization goes a long way, consider martial arts, aim for 5 Strength and good Agility, and mystic has more growth potential but adepts are simpler and come online faster. That helps a lot, I appreciate it! Might got for mystic adept after all then and just go all-in on spellcasting as my ranged option. It'll be more karma intensive, but I'm already going Drake so I already passed that bridge long ago since Drake costs 75 Karma. Which means I can't Dracoshift until after I've paid off my karma debt for the quality. I'm not entirely sure how karma debt works though; Does it eat up all my chargen karma and then all my karma in-game goes straight to paying it off before anything else? Or do I get to choose how much karma I spend on it in chargen and can just spend my karma in-game however I want, with the caveat that I can't actually Dracoshift until the debt for the quality is paid off?
  10. I appreciate it, thanks! Mostly, I'm torn between Blades and Unarmed, leaning more towards Unarmed since that's the skill for natural weapons (which drakes get, and I want to capitalize on that since dual-natured characters like drakes can use their natural weapons against spirits...though I'm not entirely sure if they use Astral Combat or Unarmed for that). Part of me wants to get both, just cause I imagine unarmed might be better for infiltration type stuff, while blades are better weapons in general and can be made into Weapon Foci. I'm not sure I can swing both of them though, especially if I'm taking a ranged backup (maybe Throwing, since there seems to be a lot of Adept support for that?), so if I have to pick one I might go Unarmed if that's viable. More importantly, I'm a bit torn between going pure Adept or going Mystic Adept. If I got Mystic, my goal is to lean more into the Adept side and mostly just use Spellcasting for some utility stuff like invisibility, mask, detection spells, and maybe an AoE spell for emergencies. The other magician skills like enchanting and summoning don't seem like something I'd focus on, so mostly it's figuring out how valuable Spellcasting is as a tool vs allocating those resources elsewhere. Lastly, maybe most importantly from what I'm reading, I'm thinking Human for metatype but I keep seeing people say that you need to go ork or troll for a melee character. I dunno how true that is, but I can sort of see it with how much higher their Body and Strength scores are. Human lets me assign higher priorities elsewhere though, plus on a fluff level it's just weird for me to imagine an ork or a troll draco-shifted. Nothing stops them, I guess it's just my brain worrying that I'm going too snowflake-y by making a drake who's also a troll/ork on top of that.
  11. Oof. Well, I dunno that I trust myself to build right since I haven't had much experience (and the time I did play a bit, it was for a bioware'd gunslinger). But I'll see what I can do, and probably keep some investment in guns just in case. Or maybe I'll switch it up and go for more of an infiltrator build, there were some pretty cool powers/spells I saw for that sort of stuff.
  12. Oh hey! Had a similar idea on the streamer-type angle, although now I'm drifting away from it due to the logistics of my character's backstory (being a drake and intentionally broadcasting yourself out there seems...counterproductive). Admittedly, I'm having that problem now where I'm waffling back-and-forth on what to do because I keep chasing different ideas. I've gone back-and-forth on being an Adept or a Mystic Adept half a dozen times now, and I'm not sure what metatype to go with either. Human seems easiest, but I've been told that Trolls and Orks make better adepts due to the higher Body and Strength caps. But then, I'm planning on going Drake, and for some reason a troll-drake or an ork-drake feels weird to me. Like stacking a bunch of D&D templates on a single character. On a related note, for those here more experienced with Shadowrun than me, is melee/unarmed okay in this system? I keep seeing conflicting thoughts when I look around online, mostly wanted to go melee and/or unarmed because drakes get natural weapons anyways, and there's just something about vibro-blades and magic swordsmen in a cyberpunk setting that's really cool to me.
  13. Oh hey! Just stumbled on this, I'll see about making a character before the deadline! Admittedly, I don't have a lot of experience with Shadowrun beyond making characters for a couple games that died after one or two sessions, but I'm happy to learn so I hope that's not too much of an issue. Might go Adept just to keep it relatively simple, or Mystic Adept if I'm feeling spicy. Speaking of spicy, question for you . On reading up on this thread, it seems like you're willing to allow a lot of stuff, so I wanted to ask. While looking through Chummer, I saw an option for Drakes and after reading up on what those are in Howling Shadows, they seem pretty rad! I might have an idea for a Drake character, but since they have a huge cost that requires some karma debt and they seem to be a Thing in-setting, I wanted to mention it here and ask to make sure if it's okay to make one first. And if so, do Drakes have to be the same type as their patron dragon? Like for example, would a Drake from Lofwyr or Big D have to be a Western drake, or can they be Sea drakes? Cause if we're doing a lot of nautical stuff, being able to breath underwater could be useful. Although, you could probably get the same effect with normal gear, I imagine.
