  1. Everything fine, it's me that's the problem. I keep saying there won't be any more interruptions on my part and that it isn't indicative of how things will be long-term and then something else comes up >.> For whatever it's worth I'm just as frustrated about my own flakiness as any of you. I have 3 of the 5 intro posts done, I just wanted to make sure I had them all ready before I posted any of them. I'm eating dinner right now, but once I'm back at my computer I'll make sure I have everything up tonight.
  2. As we round the final corner, I just want to say good luck to everyone!
  3. Marbles are a lot of fun. Hard to get any good use out of them beyond the first couple levels but it's so much fun when the go off. Solid ideas. All the more reason to invest in a mule or pack animal though if I want to carry more than the one coil of rope. I actually already packed her a teapot and some ceremonial rose tea, as is Milani's wont. I am definitely considering a pack animal or steed, I'm just always apprehensive about bringing non-combat animals into scenarios when we aren't sure where the story will take us. And if I'm just using them to ferry goods, I might as well wait until I can get a Haversack or a Minor Bag of Holding. I hadn't seen a pomander before. That's a good one. Works well with Milani's floral imagery, too, though the four-week limit makes me hesitate a bit. Holy Water is a really good one, yeah, thanks for the recommendation. Don't know how I managed to overlook that on a Paladin. Chain shirt was my original plan, but the extra 5 lbs would push me into encumbered. Though yeah I'll definitely look into other survival gear for her. I don't want to lower her INT any further because tbh I hate playing low-intelligence characters. Partly because I'm already hurting for skill points, partly because I feel dump stats can pigeonhole characters into particular roleplaying archetypes, especially the mental attributes, and I just don't enjoy playing dumb characters. 9 is honestly pushing it for me. Her strength is definitely lower than I'd like for a Paladin, but honestly with the character as I've written her, I feel like her Strength and Charisma are too high. Appreciate all the suggestions!
  4. Does anyone have any recommendations for mundane gear that would be helpful to buy? Nata is hurting for carrying capacity, but I have an extra 100 gold or so to burn and I'd like to find some fun, thematic things to buy.
  5. I need to tighten up a few aspects of my application, and her personality section is woefully in need of expansion, but if anyone has any commentary or criticism about Nata I would appreciate the insight.
  6. tba "The outfit? Psh. It's called brand recognition, sweetheart. Anyone with a commlink and enough friends can call themselves a fixer, you need to stand out to get ahead in this business." tba
  7. I was looking into this as well. Look up Ravnica, the MTG setting, which has a dedicated 5e book of lore and plot It's a planet wide city ruled by 10 guilds (megacorps) that fight amongst themselves for power over the others. An example of some of the guilds are: transhumanists that augment their biology with animal biology instead of robotics to create the perfect being. The military police are led by angels. Thought spies that control the newspaper and the mail to manipulate the masses. Necromantic corpos that hold onto their wealth as ghosts and vampires. Wasteland raiders who worship long forgotten gods and violently try to overthrow the current system. 5e doesn't do to much, ruleswise, to work with the setting but it also doesn't get in the way. The setting book also assumes that players will want to join a guild. I'd recommend at least giving the book a flip through to mine for ideas at the very least.
  8. Two character sheets are needed for your application: Your Digidestined and their partner Digimon. Your Digidestined is built as a PL 5 completely mundane human with 75 PP to spend on themselves. You should expect to be artificially capped at PL 5 no matter how many PP you spend on your character. At the end of the day, you are a completely normal human without any supernatural powers(PL 5 is actually very high for a mundane human, as well). Please keep this in mind when choosing attributes as well. Your cap is technically 15, but 7 is considered peak human. You can still take Powers that have otherwise mundane explanations if you so choose, such as a few ranks of Speed or Leaping to represent peak athleticism. 2-4 Complications as normal, but unlike usual, you are not required to pick a Motivation. After all, as far as you all know, it's only a game, right? Any unspent PP may be saved for later if you would like. Your partner Digimon, at their Rookie level, is built as a PL 8 character with 120 points to spend. No Complications. Please keep in mind that, at this stage of the game, you are only building a "stock" version of your Digimon, not a unique one. You will have opportunities for your partner to grow more unique in the future however. You will eventually need to create separate statblocks for their future stages, however this is not required at creation. When building these Digimon, please keep in mind their size. An average human is considered Size -2. Something smaller, like an Agumon, would be Size -3, while something on the scale of HerculesKabuterimon would be larger at Size 2. This is best represented through ranks of the Growth and Shrink power, with the Permanent extra. I've been using website as my basis for most Digimon sizes and I encourage you to do the same. Speaking of Digimon, when choosing your Digimon, you are encouraged to not only strike off the beaten path and pick some less common Digimon, but you are also welcome to create any evolutionary lines that you can justify with thematic consistency. For example, Morphomon>Hudiemon>Shutumon>Junomon technically isn't an official evolutionary path, but would be considered acceptable for our purposes. Fakemon, while not disallowed, are discouraged. We're setting this 25 years in the future, there's enough room to justify new Digimon being added to the franchise in that time via Fakemon I'm not going to require any specific format for applications so long as it is legible and hits the usual suspects, like appearance, personality, and background. After selection, players are welcome to come up with a unified format for their sheets as well as for posting if they so choose. The only critical details I can think of off hand are that this game will take place in Tokyo(and likely more of Japan), and the in-universe release date of the game will be March 6th, 2049, which is also when the first session will take place. Digimon do not require anything for flavortext. Appearance is covered by the picture, they all share the same backstory, and their personality is heavily influenced by their species. That is to say, while a Digimon's personality is influenced by their species, it is not defined by it. A Devimon is more predisposed towards violence and aggression, for example, but they can develop in other ways, particularly through the influence of their partners.
  9. Alright, I swear this is going to be the last real delay on my part. I got moved to the night shift so instead of 8-4 I'm now 3-12, and while you'd think that gives me a lot of free time during the day(I sure did when I agreed to it), I was not prepared for just how badly this would throw off my schedule and mess with my day-to-day. But excuses, excuses. I promise this won't be representative of how things will look going forward. Ripping the bandaid off, I am going with five players, in no particular order: -- Kanno Kaede -- Yamazaki Shiori -- Murakara Kuroko -- Rin Matsuda -- Elmo Finger I do want to thank everyone who applied, and apologize I can only take so many. I was really excited to see some of the characters and concepts you all came up with, and even if not here, I hope you get the opportunity to realize them in another game, Digimon or otherwise. As I was considering characters and dynamics, one thing that I really found myself enjoying was the prominence of less-than-socially-adept characters, which I felt could lead to some very fun opportunities. I've no intention on dictating how any dynamics may or may not develop between the group, but "a bunch of introverts and their token extrovert friend have to save the day" is a very funny plot in my head. That being said, I've obviously been a bit negligent with reviews up until this point(again, I swear that's not going to be the standard going forward), so if you have any other questions or concerns about your characters don't hesitate to ask me about them. I'm going to go through them all with a fine toothed comb on my next day off, but while reviewing them all for recruitment I didn't notice any significant problems. First posts will be going up once everyone has joined, I'm going to be starting everyone off in a solo thread to introduce their partners and set the stage for the story. In the meantime, feel free to start establishing any pre-existing relationships if you would like to have them, or maybe see if everyone wants to come up with a unified posting format.
  10. %5Bfloatright%5D%5Bfieldset%3D%22Mr.%20Maxwell%20Miracle%5D%5Bimg%5Dhttps%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FnCs4Y1d.png%5B%2Fimg%5D%5B%2Ffieldset%5D%5B%2Ffloatright%5D Mr. Maxwell Miracle With the burden of his oversized carry on safely stowed away in the relative safety of their caboose, Maxwell's first inclination is to remain by it's side. He's here as a physician, yes, there's no need for him to burden himself with trivial duties such as physical labor or scanning their surroundings, right? Though, that was never technically confirmed, he supposed. Best to at the very least put on airs. A few cursory trips up and down the length of the vessel, or at least that which they had access to, yes. That would be sufficient. Of course, what amounted to rounds, at least in his eyes, was really little more than some awkward pacing in the express car, a handkerchief occasionally dabbing the sweat from his brow while he periodically checked his pocketwatch. Still, surely a quick look out the windows couldn't harm him, no? After all, the conductor said he's not expecting trouble, right? ... Right?
  11. Double checked some information on Faerun, turns out the financial troubles the Exeltis family were having was actually back in the 1370s, about 120 years out of date for this particular campaign >.> Going to tweak things a bit, probably involve a different family, but the gist of the backstory should remain unchanged.
  12. I was originally looking at Touched by Divinity just because of how well it works with the Chosen One archetype I was taking for Nata, but ultimately I wanted to go with either Stolen Fury or Exposed to Awfulness to tie in with a backstory detail where she wasn't born a tiefling but became one due to Abyssal influence. Touched by Divinity makes a lot of sense, and I'm sure I could tie in the backstory without one of the above campaign traits, it's something I need to consider more. Actually, regarding that, I do have a question. I understand that the campaign traits are meant to represent a particular subplot/side story within the AP for the individual characters. What happens to these subplots if someone doesn't have the relevant campaign trait? I'd hate to lose out on one or more of them if a full party has overlapping campaign traits.
  13. Honestly as funny as the Asmodean Paladin sounds, I can't picture a character for it beyond the concept. Plus Asmodeus doesn't actually take Paladins, I'd need to get approval for that, and unlike Milani he doesn't have any closely aligned LG dieties who do take Paladins I can use to base tenants off of. Conceptually I think it has a lot of good roleplay opportunities with Hellknights, who similarly base themselves off the Lawful nature of the Hells without actually supporting their evils, but I'm still drawing a bit of a blank. Maybe I'll try and stick with Nata, I just need to find a new source of inspiration for her.
  14. Kawner Hurrk Aarakocra Courtier Archfey Warlock IC: “My words,” Kawner said. | ‘My thoughts,’ Sir Not-Appearing-in-This-Game thought. | My actions . . . Sir Not-Appearing-in-This-Game did some things. He said some things. He did some more things. OOC I don’t always put OOC content in my posts, but when I do, I put it in here. To Whom It May Concern . . . Put Player mention tags, and any particular notes in here.
  15. There is technically a Cleric archetype called the Asmodean Advocate that's meant to be this exact concept, but it doesn't have that same gimmick factor that a Paladin of Asmodeus has. It's a consideration, not something I'm wholly set on. I still want to stick with my original Paladin of Milani concept, I've just lost a bit of steam on it. The Paladin of Asmodeus I'm basically imagining as super naive and either completely blind to or willfully ignorant as to just how evil Asmodeus actually is. Maybe a "There's no lifetime in which I will ever condone what he's done, but there's also no one in all the planes who can enforce a deal quite as well as he can" type thing
  16. As the 26th comes to a close(at least in my timezone), I just wanted to thank everyone for applying! There's a lot of really good characters here and I hate having to pick between them. I am going to be spending the next couple days going through everything with a fine toothed comb, some I'll comment on, some I'll keep to myself as part of the selection process. During this time you're free to many any changes, corrections, or finishing touches to your characters that you like. As mentioned in the beginning, I will likely be selecting 5-6 players, expecting at least some attrition as is common in PbP games, though I will be elated if we can see a full cast of six thrive! I've already seen some fun potential dynamics while reviewing characters, and I can't wait to see just what might come to life.
  17. Catgirl is a normal human, just with some cybernetics and bio-sculpting to giver her cat ears, a tail, and claws. It's kind of a staple of 80s cyberpunk that people used to go crazy with biosculpting to make them look like animals or other people. And I have a decent grasp of 5e. I'd be happy to help where I can. There's a tool you can download called Chummer5 that's probably the best character creator program for the system, probably a good place to start.
  18. Got a few concepts I'm debating between. Purrloin, my catgirl cat bugler adept, Double Down, my extremely eccentric face/mage, Esmerelda, throwing adept by night but birthday magician by day, or, and god help me for this one, Satyrical, a character who originated as a thought experiment but has a top speed of 214 MPH on foot without sprinting.
  19. Lowkey considering a concept of a Lawful Good paladin of Asmodeus. Technically doable with the Pact Servant trait. The Devil's Advocate. In reverse. A Public Defender arguing against the church's position in any given case. A contract is only as good as its weakest clause and they seek to ensure all contracts are rock solid. He's the one the poor all visit to make sure the contract they're about to sign doesn't have any surprises. And when a devil (or daemon) tries to weasel out of its side of a bargain, he's the one the Church calls on to smite them back into line. Asmodeus brings order like no other can, his goal is to temper that order so it benefits the greatest number possible.
  20. A question while I work on some of the smaller parts of my concept. The Archfey I'm using as my Patron is Verenestra, who in the lore uses a silver mirror as her symbol. I was planing on using a similar mirror as my arcane focus, akin to a wand, but since I plan on going Pact of the Talisman, would you allow it to pull double duty as the talisman?
  21. Name. Character Concept. A jovial but arrogant man with a taste for fine wines, fine companionship, and at the perpetual beck and call of the Feywilds. Lineage, Background, Planned-Subclass Class. Aarakocra, Courtier, Archfey Warlock of the Talisman Description. More than his plumage, his wings, or even the noble colors in which he clothes himself, the first thing someone will notice about Kawner are his eyes. They seem otherworldly, swirling with light and color, though just as easily could look like normal, brown human eyes. Once his gaze is broken, however, people can easily notice the extravagance of his attire, the flamboyance of his colors, and the dynamic way in which he moves. He carries himself with all the arrogance and strut of the wealthiest noblemen, acting above so many trivialities, an act only accentuated by his wings and feathers, which move to accentuate his mannerisms and exaggerate his motions. His expressions are usually difficult to read, due to the lack of motion his beak provides, but his mood and pinions can usually be derived from the movement of his feathers. Puffed out means angry, shaking means excited, and so on. Your Character’s Plothook. More than anything else, Kawner has undertaken this journey at the behest of his patron, unquestioning of her goals or motivations. However even beyond that, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't interested in the Nightstone Inn. There's always new pleasures, new drink, and new company to be had in the most unexpected of places, after all. And, of course, he does considre himself a skillfull enough mediator to aid Lady Velrosa Nandar in his diplomatic disputes. Past is Prologue. The Hurrsk family, though not native to Baldur's Gate, has several well documented generations of history within it's walls, detailing a rich history of the family selling themselves as house servants to living amongst it's highest society members. Kawner himself was no exception to this, serving in the court of the Exeltis family, known for their Ice Wine. Despite his luxurious mantle and taste for high society, Kawner was quite sequestered from much of the rest of the world, kept in his own little bubble of his own making, truly ignorant to the wiles and woes of the rest of the world. This may very well have been how he spent the rest of his life, were it not for the Exeltis' family's slow decline and treacherous business practices. The family, deeply in debt to money lenders from Waterdeep, was at risk of loosing their farms, and devised a plan to send Kawner, as well as a token group of retainers and guards, to the City of Splendor, to either negotiate a more amicable deal, or act as their sacrificial lamb to buy them more time. He was, of course, ignorant to this second option, and proudly accepted the arrangement, confident in his ability to perform his courtly duties. He never even made it to Waterdeep. Barely a week into the journey, the small camp was set upon by goblins, barely a dozen, but more than enough to completely tear through the nobles and inexperienced guards. His last memories before losing consciousness were the goblins tearing out his feathers and clawing at his eyes. Were it not for the timely intervention of a curious archfey, admiring of his beauty, this would likely have been his death. In exchange for naut but his undying loyalty, he was saved by the Oak Princess Verenestra. As he tells the story, though he may very well have been embellishing due to being blinded at the time, the Oak Princess plucked the eyes from her very face, bestowing them to Kawner, asking only that in exchange for her eyes, she can use his. Though not wholly understanding of the deal, he gratefully accepted, and Verenestra bid him to continue north as he was originally intending under her protection. His original destination of Waterdeep was forfeit to him, and he will find a new task waiting for him in Daggerford. With a literal new perspective on life, he continued north, to Daggerford. Loyalties. Although his principal loyalty is to his patron, he has found himself courted by the Emerald Enclave due to his connection to the Feywilds. He's had a number of friendly discussions with one of their members, a half-elf by the name of Dorenas, another in Verenestra's employ, though he has yet to commit to joining. Is Might Right? Might shouldn't make right, though in practice it often does. Wealth, influence, and indeed physical ability have their place in the world, though he does not see them as the divine ordainment so many treat it as. Unfortunately, however, in his own life as a magistrate, he's seen all too often that all the wishful thinking in the world doesn't change the fact that people seem to bow to the mighty, the wealthy, and beautiful. Of course, he'd be a hypocrite if he said he was above using his own status or beauty for personal gain. Of course, he never said he wasn't a hypocrite. Deity. Although not technically a god(though she might tell you otherwise), Kawner is a passionate follower of Verenestra, The Oak Princess, Archfey of the Seelie Court. He considers himself wholly devout to her, not only as his patron, but as his savior, as she provided him not only with purpose, but a new chance at life, complete with a new pair of eyes.
  22. Awesome! I appreciate the consideration. I should be able to get something up soon
