  1. I´ll take a more in-depth look later, but at the moment I see a few things:

    • You can´t actually integrate a Power Generator into your armor, it´s too big, you can only integrate Diminutive equipment into a Medium armor. Sorry if I mislead you, I thought the generator was smaller. For the effect you are going for, it seems the option is to use an Integrated Generator with a mounted weapon.
    • You seems to have one skill too many, you should have 3 (Soldier) + 2 (Int) + 1 (Human) = 6.
    • Controlled Burst is a talent from the Elite Trooper Prestige Class

*waves* Long time no see! I'll have to see if I can think of a character to apply with as I'm having a major itch.

    Long time indeed!

Take your time, the ad is up for another three weeks :)

  3. Well, you picked up a Bracer Computer, that is a computer :)

The only thing I´d say to consider is that both the bonus from having a friendly computer and the Computer Interface Visor is an equipment bonus and therefore they won´t stack.

Also, I have to ask why you have chosen to train in Gather Information when you have the Trace talent. The latter makes the former mostly redundant.

  4. I took a look at your character sheet, and thought there were a few things I should check up on, to avoid any misunderstandings:

    • Right now, you appear to be a slicer without a computer. The basic datapad (which I think is what you have, based on cost and weight) has no capacity to run programs, or basically anything other than display, hold, and edit data.
    • You have listed a lot of +2 misc modifiers for a number of skills. If these are meant to come from your Background, Occupation Backgrounds only give a +2 bonus to untrained skill checks with the skills from the Backgrounds list, which in your case means you would get on Persuasion as well as one Knowledge skill of your choice (assuming it is not one you are trained in).
    • You have purchased two +2 Computer Spikes. To be clear, these are not items you can use to get a +2 to your skill check to Improve Access, these are items that can make their own skill checks to Improve Access with a +2 modifier.

Apologies for the repeated pings, but I was wondering if, given the fact that we're using backgrounds, you'd be okay with homebrewing a "Planet" of Origin background for Mandolorian characters (in case we do end up with multiple Mandos lol).

    Language: Mando'a

    Skills: Initiative, Endurance, Knowledge (tactics)

No. I don´t think it fits with the theme of Origin Backgrounds.

Gotcha. As a side note, how are we determining HP after the first level? Maximizing the roll, rolling on our profile pages, etc.?

I knew I forgot something, you can take max HP each level.

Question regarding the Internal Generator armor upgrade. Would it be possible to use said upgrade to power a Rifle weapon (ie a Light Repeating Blaster) via connected cables, given the weapon states it can be attached to a power generator for longer use?

The Internal Generator power integrated equipment and weapons, i.e. the kind that is built into the armor. If you want to connect something external, you can always install a regular generator into your armor, or attach one to it and carry it around.

    1. You're looking for characters of a slightly more flexible moral compass. How strictly will you be increasing Dark Side Scores? If a character accumulates a Dark Side Score equal to their Wisdom score, will their character become an NPC, per the standard rules, or will they be allowed to keep playing it? Can they increase their Dark Side Score beyond their Wisdom score, if so? Are there penalties to doing so?

I´m not looking to turn anyone into an NPC, and honestly almost forgot DSS was a thing. I generally don´t care for alignment mechanics, and it probably will be no issue. But in case it comes up, yes, you can still do things that would result in a DSS increase after you´ve hit the "cap", but your score stays the same.

    2. Do we have to purchase licenses for our equipment, or are we not worrying about that? If we have to purchase licenses, do we have to roll the checks to do so?

You don´t have to, it´s your choice. For starting equipment, you don´t need to make those checks.

    3. Will we be operating entirely/almost entirely on Cademimu V, or will there be a lot of travel to other planets? Trying to determine how heavily to invest in space ship feats/skills/talents.

You will be operating mostly out of Cademimu V, though there could possibly be the occasional travel to other places, it depends a bit on what you do.

EDIT: One more. If we multiclass, can we take a Skill Training in one of that class's Class Skills instead of a starting feat?

    No.

Quick question regarding the costs of stuff like the Mandalorian Combat Suit (KOTOR Campaign Guide pg. 201). Both the wiki and the book itself don't have any costs listed for these particular armors. What would you ballpark those at in terms of credit costs?

It´s been a while since I looked at those things, but wow are they a mess. I´ve read somewhere that they were written using an earlier version of the equipment modification system, which is for example why they have so many upgrade slots. They should have slots more in line with other armor, though I would be willing to give them one extra, since it´s Mandalorian armor. I could take a shot at making some updated stats for them, but for a quick cost estimate...10k for the Mandalorian Combat Suit, and more for the other armors.

For equipment in general, do we need to account for miscellaneous stuff like energy cells and other minor-but-ubiquitous items? Just want to know how important that kind of stuff will be so I can budget chargen purchases properly lol.

Yes, you will need to account for all your possessions.

  10. The game takes place in the time period after the ending of KOTOR II, but before the beginning of TOR. I´ve edited the game description to include this. Unless made from very long-lived species, characters are unlikely to have been alive around the events of KOTOR II.

I would make a decision to offer a discount on Bekar'gam on a character-by-character basis.

  11. I think I´m beginning to have a final list of requisitions. I´ll include a short motivation for each item, and feel free to comment.

    • Volkite Serpenta (10 Req) - Taking the weaker, smaller pistol version here, hoping to use it as a backup against hordes and primarily against more armored targets or structures, so I figure the bigger Blast isn´t necessary. Also @Trish_the_Nugg_Queen, would I be correct in assuming these are powered by some kind of charge packs?
    • Cartograph (5 Req) - Probably useful in general, and whether we attempt to recover or destroy the facility, having maps of it is probably a good idea. Hopefully we can also get the ship to update its data with some fresh scans before we drop
    • Camo Cloak (20 Req) - Boosts Concealment a bit, and since it looks like I´ll be one of the main ranged combatants, it con hopefully help me take some good firing positions, and provide some protection once there
    • Auto-Sense Goggles (10 Req) - Even though I don´t think we have any artillery or other support units to call upon in this mission, they still have many useful features besides guiding indirect fire
    • Bolter Clip of Metal Storm Rounds (Free) - Useful against hordes
    • Bolter Clip of Kraken Rounds (15 Req) - Useful for taking out heavy targets without getting in range of the Serpenta
    • Extra Bolter Clips of Regular Ammo (x2 N/A)
    • Extra Bolt Pistol Clips of Regular Ammo (x2 N/A)
    • Extra Volkite Serpenta Charge Pack (x2, N/A?)

This leaves 20 unused Req. I can probably spare it if someone else needs it, but otherwise I might use them to pick up an Auspex or another clip of Kraken rounds.

Also, for everyone, I'm considering boosting everyone's renown to 20 (Respected) to give some more options on requisition, I've noticed a few people struggling on what to choose and while I like the concept of renown tracking individual reputation & giving access to better equipment as a reward for character progress, I also don't want to lock fun equipment away.

While I would be ok with either option, I´d personally prefer to start from scratch and build our renown up

  13. I guess the basic thing is that since there is no listed benefit for having it/restriction for not having it, I´m just having a hard time seeing why this is an item in the first place.

The difference is there: The webbig is an item organizer that permit a soldier to bring more stuff than his regular cowboy outfit can handle. It is more practical for long term engagement than short one, as it permit to bring more stuff, add versatility and the possibility to bring more stuff useful for many different situations. The Astartes combat weebing come with basic pouches of items, but it is specified that you can add even more if needed.

I understand what the item is meant to be, it´s just to me it´s utterly pointless since I have no idea what I can carry around without it. It just seems to me like it´s an item that gives a purely narrative benefit (as well as an implied but never specified mechanical one) but still has a mechanical cost. I can accept if that is the case (though I don´t like it), but I was confused as to whether this is the case or not.

Also, I don´t really get stuff like the medicae pouch. If you are just requisitioning the webbing (which I think is meant to be the case), can you then just say that you have such a pouch, and get the benefits? Or is that a separate requisition?

Thanks for trying to have it make sense to me, but it starts to feel like I just have to settle for this being an extremely poorly written item (IMO) that I´m just supposed to requisition without thinking too much about it.

    https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Astartes_Combat_Webbing

There is a complete explaination of the combat webbing here accroding to the lore. Basically, it come with everything mentionned there, plus you can fasten more pouches/clips on it. Normally, pouches/holsters/blade sheath doesnt cost requisitions - they come with the item wheb you spend requisition on them. Webbing is just an item organizer, to optimize placement and carry more than what the normal belts/strap would allow a marine (+ some free items like medicae pouch and vox)

I´m feeling really dense now, but I guess it´s the emphasized part that confuses me, because I can´t find anywhere what those "normal" limits are. And also, if the webbing is just the place to add all the pouches, and stuff you requisition already comes with pouches...why is this an item that you can requisition in the first place and not standard issue? If it is an item that everyone needs...

...and if it is not, then what is the advantage? I get what you are saying it does, but from what I can see, it offers no such advantage at all.

I really think (and hope) I am missing something here, as this feels like it shouldn´t be this complicated to get...

Yep everyone has 80 requisition each, and you can optionally give a few points to contribute towards something the whole group or a specific member can use instead, or outright get a piece of equipment and give it to someone else. Those 80 points are yours to choose what you do with though, whether you spend them on yourself or others

Ah, that changes a lot :)

I would still like someone to clarify my questions regarding Astartes Combat Webbing, so I know if I have to requisition a lot of pouches or none at all

Finally, I think it would be a good idea for someone to requisition Demo Charges

Can we actually use Demo Charges? I totally agree they would be useful, but from the rules it seems you need the Demolitions skill to use them, and I can´t see a way for anyone to have that at Rank 1.

The Vasgotox Spray-Cannon looks really unreliable with its negative synergy. It rolls 3 dice (because of tearing) using 2 highest for damage, and if any of those come up with a 9, that's a jam. That's something close to 25% chance on jamming with each shot. On the other hand, if it does jam, at least it dealt good damage first.

This is just me speculating, but it would seem reasonable that you only consider the actual damage dice used when seeing if the weapon jams. But still, yeah, that´s a pretty high rate for jamming. Probably safest to get a higher-quality craftsmanship version.

For the requisition cost, please refer to the erreta online

Thanks, I had missed that there were errata available. Seems like they also put in some serious nerfs on many weapons

  18. Ok, so I have a few questions regarding Astartes Combat Webbing. I love when they include stuff like this in military games, but there are some things that confuses me:

    • Is the requisition cost for the webbing itself, and then you can add unlimited amounts of pouches, or is the cost for a single pouch (my guess)?
    • In case the cost is for a single pouch, can we then consider ourselves to have pouches for all the standard issue gear (sidearm, grenades, knife)? Otherwise that will eat up pretty much all requisition.
    • Is a pouch like this needed to carry more ammunition than can be loaded into your weapons without resorting to a backpack supply?

Also, regarding requisition in general, should we try to make a summary somewhere of what we want to requisition? I have some ideas of what I´d like to requisition personally, and also for some stuff that I think the team should have.

    Personal Requisitions

    • 1 Bolter Clip of Metal Storm rounds (Free as a Tactical Marine)
    • 2 Bolt Pistol Clips of Stalker Rounds (5 Req)
    • 1 Clip Pouch for Bolter Clips (3 Req)
    • 1 Clip Pouch for Bolt Pistol Clips (3 Req)

    Squad Requisitions

    • Magnoculars (3 Req)
    • Cartograph (5 Req)
    • Auspex (12 Req)

Elyas had been quiet during most of the exchange with the revered Horus so far, instead taking the time to study his soon-to-be-brothers-in-arms. He had no doubts that they were brave and competent soldiers - they were the astartes, after all - but he also knew many of the other legions conducted their warfare in their own specific ways, including his own. It was interesting to see them act, to see what questions they asked and what intelligence they seemed to value. The mission itself seemed to be straightforward enough, and resistance sounded as expected. Which itself was quite expected, as you don´t put an inexperienced squad - and that was what they were, despite their individual prowess - on complex and overwhelmingly difficult missions. No, he expected that this mission was merely a trial, an opportunity to see if a squad like this could form and work together. If they could, they would be a fearsome force indeed, being able to draw on the experience and tactical knowledge form all legions in the most efficient way possible - in the field.

Sensing the briefing was coming to a close, he turned his eyes towards Horus, nodding softly in understanding, and then took a quick look out across the rest of the gathered soldiers. "I guess the only remaining questions then are: How long until we make planetfall, and which way to the armory?"
