  1. "O-ok...yea let's go." Obviously apprehensive, Manfred follows after a short farewell wave to the doorman. "So uh, what kind of steaks are those? they looked pretty big. Also you should probably wrap them in something, don't want them to get dirty ya'know?" He tried to make conversation as they make their way.
  2. "I guess that makes sense...Wait, what do you mean first? There's two beds. I can sleep on the floor I just want a roof for once." He glances over to Barnaby and gives a sheepish smile. He leans in and asks "What's an elevator? I know what elevation is...does it teleport?" Looking at Barnaby, Manfred spots the door-mandril behind him. Manfred waves shyly not really sure how to interact with a sapient primate given his profession.
  3. Angy monkey I didn't check any of the boxes in the dice roller to see what it would do, imma spam some dice here to see if it did actually roll or if I forced it to be a 6 accidentally. Seems like it works fine. test
  4. A small skinny man stands before the desk. To call him dirt and poor looking would be an understatement. His worn boots have both soles flapping as he walks and his wool clothing is frayed at the edges and has multiple patches from years of use. His scruffy brown hair drapes the sides of his head and hangs just below his chin. His eyes are a dull maple color. Also he's surrounded by monkeys. His rucksack seems to contain a small war zone as screeches and yips can be heard coming from it and it shifts and bulges, seemingly full of monkeys. one monkey stands atop the sack, with one hand holding the top flap open and the other rooting around inside, it jerks its hand back periodically as if the creatures in his pack are nipping at it. On the floor is a second monkey, this one screams as it yanks on one of the rucksacks straps, it is unclear if it is trying to steal the pack or is trying to pull the man away, but either way it is too small to accomplish anything. Finally there's one on his shoulder. This one seems somewhat calm, but any passerby's that make eye contact with the monkey perched on the mans shoulder get a loud hiss in response. All of them seem bluish at first glance. Upon closer inspection it seems that they are mostly black, grey, and white, which blend together to give the illusion of blue. A trained primatologist would see at first glance these are 'silver wall-runner monkey's'. Only two feet or so when fully standing, with a long black tail, these small portable livestock form a dietary staple for those living on the harsh windswept wall, which this man presumably hails from. "I uh...no I don't...Stop it!" He turns to snap at the monkey pulling on his rucksack, causing it to jump back and screech loudly. The chittering in his rucksack picks up in volume and frequency as he sighs and turns back to the clerk. "No sorry I don't...You wouldn't happen to have any vacant rooms would you?" As he returns to his conversation the monkey that was tugging on his pack returns to its previous mission and begins yanking on a loose strap again, with tiny grunts from its effort.
  5. gonna roll monkey mien to see how Manfred's entrance goes.
  6. "I think I can swing something, I'm not sure if you're aware but union doesn't use currency internally but they still trade with Karakis. I'm sure a shipment of materiel or maybe some mana can get him a 'special assignment' near Sanjack." He smiles and begins walking away but turns and gestures for her to follow. "Care to join me? Truth be told I know nothing about any of our ragtag little group and wouldn't mind making a new friend."
  7. Presumably on or near Manfred because he feeds them, The droppings may become an issue.
  8. I like the idea of us being forced to share a room, just to ease into roleplaying our characters.
  9. Honestly I like the fact that I rolled middling stats and have kind of an everyman type of background, I think it'll be good for my first game. Btw this is my first game of Troika. Question: Since this game seems REALLY freeform were you planning on us starting off all doing our own thing or do we magically become friends like every other ttrpg? I'm fine with either I just don't know how games of troika usually shake out.
  10. Hey y'all! I hope I made my character correctly. I botched the background roll because I rolled 1d66 and got a 60, which doesn't exist, so I had to reroll.
  11. Name: Manfred Fioder Skill: 5 Stamina: 18 Luck: 9 Background: Monkeymonger Advanced Skills: 4 Climb 2 Trapping 1 Club Fighting 1 Knife Fighting Possessions: Worn/Held: Butcher's Knife (on belt) Monkeys Monkey treats (pocket full) Carried: Rucksack Knife Monkey club Lantern & Flask of Oil 6 Provisions 9 Silver Pence Manfred despised being a monkeymonger. Don't get him wrong, he loves the wall. The brisk, cool air constantly shifting and blowing is a feeling he misses greatly, so much so he feels a little claustrophobic sometimes in the big city. But that's really all he misses about it. He hates monkey's, which he's somewhat greatful for because if he didn't he wouldn't have the stomach to butcher and sell them. They're loud, smelly, dirty, stick their little hands in everything, and worst of all they look at him like he's a monster whenever he eats or sells one. Who do they think they are!?!? They would do the same thing if they had to! Anyway when he turned 30 he had a midlife crisis, he realized he could spend his whole life hocking monkey meat to wall villages if he didn't make change. His parents did not care for it but Manfred doesn't give a fist full of monkey manure what they want, if it were up to them he would spend his whole life in their house selling monkeys! Nope! That wasn't his destiny, he was sure of it! He would be a great...something or other. His first idea was opening a general store but he's really only ever sold monkey meat to people too poor to afford anything else. Maybe he could join the temple of Telak! although he never really stabbed anything other than monkeys...and getting stabbed doesn't sound too fun. Maybe he could learn magic? Although he'd rather not his head explode or whatever happens to mages that learn too much magic. All he does nowadays is wander around on the rooftops of Troika, since people seem to prefer walking around here. He's had to sell half his monkeys to make ends meet so far and if he doesn't figure something out soon he's just gonna be some rooftop hobo! On the bright side it's been almost two weeks since he eats any monkey and him and all his "friends" are grateful for that.
  12. "That airstrike, from our first mission? That was amazing! I was worried that infantry was going to start climbing on Khan and rip me out of my cockpit. You said that was your brother? I didn't know someone could fly suborbital craft with that level of precision, let alone how well he aimed those munitions. I was serious when I made my offer, I want to contract him if he's available, we're going to need all the help we can get once we land on Sanjack. It didn't feel right contacting him without your permission." Amani seems excited recounting the excitement of their first mission, but there is some reservation as he asks his question.
  13. "Hey! hello!" Amani lightly jogs towards Salarra outside of the education center. "Sorry for intruding, I hope you're not busy. I wanted to talk to you about our last mission...If you have the time of course." Judging from the dust around the cuffs of his pants and the fact that he's slightly out of breath, he either sprinted there or has been searching for Salarra for some time. He smiles as he speaks in between his words and panting.
  14. Amani tilts his head at the amorphous visage and smirks. "If my ears don't deceive me, is that a smile? The working class cannot be freed by theory and rhetoric alone, if the freedom of the people demands us to take up arms against Throne Karrakis itself I only hope I could be useful...but lets try to not make that much noise eh?"
  15. So I want to get the 'Vehicle' tactical advantage on page 52 by asking Salarra's brother to provide air support, though I'm not entirely sure how to go about that. I guess the 'Get Connected' action? Obviously this would involve talking to Salarra directly as well as her brother.
  16. "It will be done." Amani nods then says "I hope this mission will further our cause here and I apologize for making more work for us." He taps some fingers on the table uncomfortably.
  17. I'm free every friday and saturday up until the 29th, I'll be with family from the 25 till new years.
  18. Amani blushes and nervously pushes his hair out of his face. "Well ehm...I requested a transport from the venerable house Kauri recently and I was told it would come with certain...Implied costs. Would it be her eminence, Buela Hisho-Roz?" He seems to be shifting from nervousness to resignation.
  19. A flash of surprise can be seen in Amani's eyes but he quickly recovers. "My place is to obey my liege, I'm sure these soldiers will help our cause well, whatever that cause may be." He does not know what she is planning, but he trusts that if he must know, he will be told, and that if he does not need to know, Buela plans to better the people of Sanjak somehow.
  20. He leans forwards and rests his arms on the table, interlocking his fingers. "I have found work. Righteous work in fact. We uphold the pillars here is all I can say. Soon we ride to free people being accosted by pirates. I worry that we will be worn down by their numbers. A place to repair our frames would be all we need to remove that possibility, and our houses mining freighters would be just what we need. I request a single transport, capable of moving a small squad of combat frames and accompanying materiel and personnel." His expression is sincere, he knows that she would risk reputation and possible retaliation for such a thing.
  21. As the smoke clears over the battlefield outside, eerie silence gives way to the peaceful hum of nature. In the pirates ship, Amani converses with the House Kauri foot soldiers on whether the ship should be scrapped or commandeered. "This is not our planet, we are guests here. What happens to this vessel and its prisoners is not our choice to make. I know not what her eminence plans for this planet, so await her orders and help the locals as best you can. Godspeed and good work all." Murmurs and exclamations of joy and agreement ring out among the soldiers. Amani smiles as he turns to re-enter his mech and move it back to the transport but stops when he remembers: There's a visible hole where the cockpit should be, or rather, luckily for him, next to the pilots seat. Deciding he would be more comfortable not piloting a several ton convertible, Amani wanders around near the ships docking ramp, looking for his allies.
  22. OOCRolls to follow, in case we run out of time before the session.
  23. "Feh, militant dogs...What I wouldn't give to meet them on the field of battle." He takes a deep breath and runs his fingers through his hair, then attempts to switch to a lighter subject. "Did that Union naval officer that traded mining equipment ever call you again? If I remember correctly he seemed to care more about your eyes than your title hehehe" He exaggerates a chuckle as he reminds his elder sister of a scandalous fling she had years ago. A thought occurs to Amani, moving combat frames into and out of theaters of war is their biggest weakness, he readies himself to ask his sister for a favor once the pleasantries are enjoyed.
