  1. Harlan rubs his chin thoughtfully. "Mayhaps she came under some kind of curse when her forest was felled? Been seeing ghosts all over this island. I don't know that she's... well, 'realive.' Seems more like maybe you were slumbering in some sense? Huh, absolutely fascinating." The doctor comments, examining the trees and forest around them.
  2. Harlan drops into a fighting stance, looking at the fearsome plant creature. He determines that he can close quickly on it, standing to the west of Stavard. Ankle deep in the flowing stream, Harlan roars and flies out with a hearty punch! Mechanics Punch is Shock 1/15. Sorry for the long-time-no-reply, I didn't realize we'd moved on and I've been busy helping out with a West March on Discord.
  3. Shayla Shayla - Human (Skilled) - Cultist Witch 1 | Neutral Good | Female | The Dusk Mother Shayla slaps Jeht's hand as he drops the insult, giving him a rather withering gaze. "Manners, Jeht, or do you plan to spoil our afternoon so easily? Come. A dance, I was promised, and a dance I shall have." She says, her scowl turning into a beatific smile, as she gestures for him to lead the way. "Unless... you wouldn't disappoint me, would you, Jeht?" She says. "I'm not certain my delicate heart could take that. After all, you're such a fine looking man, with muscles like yours. Any woman would surely be lucky to have you and I am, after all, just the poor witch who lives outside of town." Mechanics Going to roll "Deception" here to see if she can't convince Jeht she's genuinely interested in more than just mooching off him for the afternoon xD
  4. Harlan is a village doctor/bare-knuckle boxer who has decided to become one of those 18th century naturalists with no actual scientific training beyond what little he gleaned learning to be a doctor.
  5. Shayla Shayla - Human (Skilled) - Cultist Witch 1 | Neutral Good | Female | The Dusk Mother Shayla continues to pet the owl, looking Jeht up and down with an appraising eye. "Fine." She says, giving a friendly smile. "A dance, then?" She asks. "Such is the traditional thing to do, yes? Surely you can show me how?" She says, stepping out from behind the booth. She holds her hand up, and the owl flutters back into the sky. Shayla is, of course, dressed quite simply--she does not look the part of a hero or adventurer at all--and she lets her simple woollen cape fall over her shoulders as she folds her hands before herself, waiting for Jeht to offer his arm, simply continuing to stare at him with a very slight smile.
  6. Shayla Shayla - Human (Skilled) - Cultist Witch 1 | Neutral Good | Female | The Dusk Mother Shayla smiles coyly at both Jeht and the halfling, holding a hand out to the snowy owl, who gingerly steps on it as she lowers it down. Scratching the bird's head, who responds with a pleased expression, Shayla regards Jeht for a moment. "I am indeed still unwed. Though, I am curious what the rumours say these days that would possibly dissuade such a fine specimen as yourself." Turning to Jack, Shayla waves a hand. "No, no, I'd be woefully bored if not for these attempts. I'm curious to see what Jeht has to say."
  7. Harlan grumbles. "A tooth, at least? Some kind of sample? The more we could learn before we have to tangle with such a creature would, no doubt, be incredibly useful." He says.
  8. Harlan walks over, and takes a look at the skull, also making a sketch. "Interesting... I wonder if I could get a closer examination of it." He says, approaching the hunting trophy. "Do you think we could bring it back with us? I would love to run some tests, see if I cannot find the composition of the bones, maybe determine something else about the beast."
  9. Shayla Shayla - Human (Skilled) - Cultist Witch 1 | Neutral Good | Female | The Dusk Mother Shayla sees their offer of aid ignored and simply shrugs. Standing behind their stand of wares, they sit down and slowly begin stitching a damaged cloak they brought with them, humming a tune to herself as she patiently watches the crowds. A large snowy owl flutters from overhead and perches on the top of the stand, and Shayla gives it a small smile. "Ah, come to join me I see? Any messages from grandmother? No? Well, just the same. I've no need of her advice today." Shayla whispers to it.
  10. Hello, folks! There is a thread that's been posted a while, just wanted to see how everyone is doing? It's been holidays so I haven't wanted to push anyone about games or the like, but I'd like to get started back into a routine soon! So if possible, I'd like to know everyone's weekend schedules (fridays and saturdays) for January!
  11. Clyde congratulated you on your return. He told you he was still working on something at Ras Shamra, but would have more work soon. Enjoy your break while it lasts, he said. The prep work for this next mission would be tough. Ashe has been in the hospital for three days with Nino. Jekyll has come out a few times to tell you it would not be long before Ashe would rejoin you. Prima never leaves the hospital room. It seems like she doesn't even sleep, instead standing guard over Nino like a statue of Venus. It is on the seventh day that Ashe finally emerges. Their face is streaked with tears. Their hair is a mess. They somehow look older. Prima refused to leave the room, but howling sobs can be heard from inside. Jekyll tries to hug Ashe, but Ashe stops them. "No. No, not now." They mutter hoarsely. "Business first. The Lancers are finally owed some explanations Clyde couldn't give them." Ashe tells all of you to meet then down in the Dungeon on the following day. The dungeon is quieter today. The printers are not running. Ashe is wearing black and accompanied by Jekyll and Prima. Prima has an elaborate funerary veil on and is sitting with one legged crossed over the other, looking away from Ashe and Jekyll. Jekyll always wears black, so he looks no different aside from removing his bowler hat. Ashe is standing in front of the World Killer. It has changed since last you saw it. The rough plates are now intricately carved, depicting in relief harrowing scenes of violence from the conquest of Hercynia. Where normally a Genghis would mount weapons, metal sculptures of human corpses have been placed. The image is so disorienting, it takes some time for you to realize you are not looking at a weapon of war, but a weapon of art. As you come down, Ashe starts speaking. "I was sixty five when I met Nino. I looked and felt 23, but that's what near light travel does. Unsticks you in time. Nino was likely much older. They werr a mercenary on the long rim. A run away from the hospital they grew up in. Rescued Prima from the pirates who took them in. Prima's casket had been locked away, she was near to cascading when they found her. Two have been inseparable since. But when I met them, I was a revolutionary. I was sent off Sanjak for medical care, but could never find my way back. So I fought for the Ungratefuls in the Dawnline shore. That's where I met Nino and Clyde. But I always knew Nino would die young. I hoped my nephew could get them care, maybe find a cure. But it was too late."
  12. Getting through the blockade was trouble, but simple enough. The landing was far more harrowing. No one died, though, so overall a mission success. Sanjaki forces were able to secure the LZ after the Lancers held out for a harrowing length of time. Retrieving Nino was simple enough. Getting access to a Karrakin hospital intended only for Nobles proved suspiciously easy with the aid of a decorated Karrakin Cavalier named Asher McFadden-Pine, Ashe McFadden's apparently estranged nephew. He lead them to a hospital room, guarded by two sword wielding strangers. One named Jekyll, dressed as a Victorian gentleman with a handlebar moustache and mutton chops, and another apparently named Prima Donna, or "Auntie Prima" as Jekyll keeps calling her. Nino, the person you were sent to retrieve, was nearly comatose when you arrived. Little more than skin and bones, barely able to focus, you got them on a ship back to the Peregrine's Nest. When you landed, Ashe, Jekyll, and Prima all took Nino to a hospital on the base. You haven't seen any of them since...
  13. I'm happy! I am very sorry for the delay, I have been both sick and busy with work and other stuff. I have winter break coming up in a couple weeks, so I'll be much better able to post in the near future. Also, it is december right now--family obligations, combined with a lot of people stuck in Finals and stuff who are in post secondary is something to consider. I've noticed this in the west march I'm in, lots of people too busy to run/play games.
  14. Harlan looks at the door. "You know. I'll be honest. I am not that curious about what is passed there." He says. He examines the evergreen symbol emblazoned on them. "Well, now, this is fascinating. Does anyone here recognize it?"
