  1. Use defend when you’re actively trying to stop someone from doing any of the other three actions—you’re parrying a sword strike, trying to stay on your feet, blocking a doorway, and the like. Usually this action is performed on someone else’s turn, reacting to their attempt to attack, overcome, or create an advantage. You may also roll to oppose some non-attack actions, or to defend against an attack on someone else, if you can explain why you can. Usually it’s fine if most people at the table agree that it’s reasonable, but you can also point to an relevant situation aspect to justify it. When you do, you become the target for any bad results. If you fail: You’re on the receiving end of whatever your opponent’s success gives them. If you tie or succeed: Things don’t work out too badly for you; look at the description of your opponent’s action to see what happens. If you succeed with style: Your opponent doesn’t get what they want, plus you gain a boost. You'd use whatever approach seems reasonable for your defense, like Quickly dodging a laser or Carefully dipping back into cover.
  2. Purple Dove & the Blue Blunder Blue suddenly stiffens as he watches the disc fly by, the hound's tail wagging furiously. Oh no. "Blueberry, now's not the- Hey!" Blue tears himself out of Violet's grip, darting off at high speeds to snatch the improvised tossing disc just as it touches the ground. The dog is loose, his leash flapping about with nobody to stop him! In a room full of unsecured supertech. Fudge. OoCBlue's using the Dropping the Leash collateral damage effect. Hopefully this won't cause too much chaos.
  3. I figure I shouldn't post right now, and wait for Thomasina or Inkwell's response.
  4. The Three-Horned BatCafe by the Dock, Late Afternoon Status: Lying across multiple chairs, hooves out. Tuskless. Has a soda. Looking into the Astral. Cathy stiffens at Nyx's approach, definitely not expecting the elf to 'see' her facial features with her hands. Cathy doesn't mind, however, letting her touch away. Her face is generally considered handsome, with a sharp jawline and long, thin nose. She's lucky to not have seriously broken it with her previous career, though Nyx can feel signs of previous injuries spread across her face, the orc's skin not uniformly smooth or soft under her fingers. Lots of blunt trauma, any lasting damage visually inobvious. She stretches out in her seat once Nyx finishes, smirking at her. "Secrets, huh? Suits your vibe." "Huh. Didn't know that was possible, trauma carrying over like that." Is this part of her religious thing? Sounds weird. Cathy doesn't know jack about souls or birth defects, as her general education was... lacking, to say the least. Speaking of schooling, she doesn't grokk any of the symbols she sees on Nyx's outfit, though the shapes are vaguely recognizable as some half-remembered thing she may have saw at some point. The whole ensemble practically screams 'elf'. Cathy realizes she's been staring for a long while, but who cares? She certainly doesn't. "Loving the blindfold. It and your hair ties everything together. No clue what any of it means, but you're really rolling the look." Her eyes dart over at the waitstaff (and quiet guy slumped in the corner), before she leans over and lowers her voice for only Nyx to hear. "As an Awakened to Awakened, I didn't know you could use a foci for looks in the astral, it textures your aura nicely. Is your getup designed to look good under astral sight?" Cathy hasn't met many people who can pull that off, including herself. 5. The Three-Horned BatCafe by the Dock, Late Afternoon Status: Lying across multiple chairs, hooves out. Sipping a soda, chilling. Looking into the Astral. Cathy leans back in her seat, arms crossed behind her head as she sets her gaze on the ceiling. She momentarily waves one of the waitstaff over, ordering a soda while she looks through the astral. Not much around, place seems clear. The satyr glances over at "Sure, I'm always game for that. It's not gonna be some formalized social networking bull, right? If the only entertainment's other people, everyone there better be primed to act damn entertaining, or else I might as well only be there for the catering." She raps her fingers on the tabletop, rhymically. She shoots Tonight a couple of messages. [That one over there?] Cathy gestures off in the yacht's direction with her drink. Not like anyone else would figure out what she's doing, boat's too far. [Eh, maybe. You know, there's a lot of people over there. At least 20, maybe 30; I didn't bother counting. So if that's just the help doing prep, then the boat is gonna be packed.] Cathy turns towards Nyx, realizing she's gone off track for a minute there. "Oh, yeah. I'm a Satyr, by the way. An orc variant, not a troll, though you probably would be guessing for a while before you hit that answer." She points at her mouth, smiling wide to let the blind woman see. "No tusks, for one." The satyr conspicuously crosses her legs, her pants already rolled up to reveal well-muscled calves covered in dark fur, seemingly bending backwards at a third leg joint before they reach her cybernetic hooves. Yes, the lack of tusks is her most obvious feature. "How do you see me? I thought the blindfold might've been for the looks, but you describe drek like you've got an ultrasound chipped in. Doesn't sound like the Astral either." Speaking of, Cathy finds herself struck with the urge to assense people's auras. Nyx's especially, given her nature. Catherine's always been a slave to her impulses. Wait, is that... "Huh, they really do have braille menus. Figured most places used AR chips for that kind of thing. This cafe's pretty slick." 6. Originally I had Violet leash everyone together and then drag them, but that seemed a lil silly. Also, uh, oof, not a good roll.
  7. Purple Dove & the Blue Blunder Purple Dove stops short of the entrance, crouching down to look at the ground. "Got a real bad feeling about this place. There's probably tons of traps around. I don't see much from here, but..." She turns to Blue, rubbing him on the head. "Do you smell any traps? Anything like uh..." She holds her crystal samples in front of his nose. "One of these, probably." The dog sniffs it, and starts searching around, but the poor dog keeps on running up by the entrance to the room full of crystals, which is an absolute no-go. He whines up at Purple Dove, confused as he keeps moving around in circles. "Ugh, dangit. They're all in there. Can't find the traps from outside the room, can't enter the room to search for traps. Or I guess we can, if we go carefully and don't trigger them. But still, it's too dangerous, we might get zapped. Though Blue's pretty zap-resistant, so if he goes first to search..." While Purple Dove continues to ponder ways around this conundrum, Blue continuously presses up against the entryway, moving in circles as he tries finding some other route. This situation's kinda freaking him out. "Argh," She mutters. This lair could be dangerous, but there shouldn't be much harm stepping a foot or two in there. If it was just me I thought I might be forgetting my meds but Blue's messed up about it too. Is the turkey really some kind of psychic? The heroine sighs. "Guess there's no way around it." Purple Dove wraps Blue's leash around her arm, using her freed-up hands to grab Coalfire and Inkwell and drag everyone into the room, even if it means ruining the totally heroic vibe they've got going on. "I think there's mind control keeping us from wanting to enter, so obviously it means we, as scheme stoppers, should enter to ruin a villain's day. Even if it means we all combust or turn into turkeys."
  8. The Three-Horned Bat Cat?Cafe by the Dock, Late Afternoon Status: Floating on her hooves, apparently. Looks like a Cat. Peeking into the Astral. The not-troll nods at Nyx's hypothesizing, letting her talk herself out, only moving when she steps aside momentarily to let the guy pass. He didn't give off the vibe of a guy stopping for coffee. Cathy figured he was the person Nyx was waiting for, but he just walked on by with barely an acknowledgement. Some other recruit? A watcher? Eh. Should probably ask Nyx about it. And correc "Sure thing. My name's-" "Nyx! Cat!" "...Three-horned Bat if we're doing this with gimmicky names. Don't need to say the whole thing, it's always been a fancy title." Huh, figures she's here too. Weird. Cathy gives Tonight a casual wave as the lady tires herself out, glancing over at Nyx. She shrugs and follows the reporter inside, taking in the weirdly empty cafe. She pulls aside a couple of chairs for herself, using one to prop her feet up and let her hooves dangle. "Nice to see you too. Really didn't expect this." She says, opening up a call for Tonight to pick up whenever she feels ready. "But before we get into things, uh, do either of you know that guy?" She rudely jams a thumb at the guy. You know, the guy. Black hair, middle-aged in the way that makes it hard to tell how old he really is, with a big jacket. Only guy in the room if you discount the waitstaff. Huh. Waitstaff. Place has some odd vibes. Maybe she should check, just in case... Half the world falls away, a thin veneer sticking to her senses as all things material washes out of reality. There's vibrant spots in the room, vibrating, her own aura oscillating up more brightly than the rest with how she's peeking into the astral. Nothing here? 9. Catherine LagosCafe by the Dock, Late Afternoon Status: Relaxed. Music's playing. Ready to sit on her bum and wait for whatever decides to roll her way. A tall blob shows up a short ways away, taking a long, casual stride along the sidewalk, her chrome hooves not making much sound against the plascrete thanks to her sandals. Not that they usually would, Cathy's pretty quiet. To those with eyes and three-dimensional spatial senses, the satyr's not wearing anything special, a jacket loosely hung over an obviously sleeveless jumpsuit, the latter made out of a protective weave. Just because she's not being loud with her outfit doesn't make her discreet, however. Kinda hard to try, really, with her sweeping ram's horns curling up around her head like a wreath, or her cybernetic ears, pointed more like an animal's than a metahuman's. Cathy stops in front of the café, giving the much, much shorter person a once-over. She couldn't help but overhear the elf talking on her comms (which would be rude if Cathy wasn't like 20 meters away at the time), and given her general appearance (Definitely a mage or mysticism-fangirl), the blindfolded woman is probably here for the same reasons Cathy is. Probably. "'Lo. So, you're here for the 'four in the evening' meeting too?" the blob asks Nyx. She glances up at the sun, light still clearly felt at this time of day, and adjusts the dufflebag slung over her shoulder. Up close, it's apparent Cathy's got a weapon, a rather chunky pistol by her hip, but she probably can't draw it without fixing her bag first. It's kinda in the way. 10. Unsure if I should've posted, cause this is like, reacting more than doing anything. Doesn't prompt much. But I'm at a loss as to what to do besides repeating my earlier post's actions.
  11. Purple Dove & the Blue Blunder Violet shivers, rubbing out her palms in an attempt to get rid of the tingly feeling. Blue's ears perk up, standing so high they're partially flopping over to the side instead of drooping straight down. He noses at Purple Dove's pouch, prompting her to fish for... "Right, the crystals. Should watch out for anything weird. Thanks for the reminder, Blue." She gives his head a scratch, his ears flopping back down to their usual state as he relaxes for a moment, tail wagging. Purple Dove holds out one of the orange crystals to the light, keeping one eye on them while the group approaches the glow.
  12. Gonna check dice rolls here. There's probably a way to automatically count hits, though dunno if you can also check for glitches too. Okay, got the hits part down, at least. Just use the Success command, then set the threshold on the right 5 and above.
  13. Catherine LagosMiami Sidestreets, Midday Status: Satiated. Messy. Kinda suspicious in a nervous kind of way she won't admit is nerves. Cathy's busily sitting on a bench, chowing down on a freshly bought set of arepas. Steaming with each bite, they're hefty things, making a small mess out of her hands as the orc futilely fails to wrangle them back into form. She probably shouldn't have asked them to stuff them extra full when she saw how small they did them, meal would've gone way smoother if she got five. A faint chime rings by her head, commlink alerting her to a message from some unhelpfully unlabeled number. She sits up in her bench and starts a mental command to bring it up. She listens as the message reads itself aloud in her head, electronic words taking on an odd texture compared to all the noise she's hearing from her spot by the streets. Evening? At four? Where is this guy from, the artic? Cathy chews slowly, raising a brow at the wording. 'On good authority', 'illicit', 'liberating', drek reeks of a guy who likes to hear himself talk. Aren't you supposed to be vague about this kind of thing? She doesn't really get it. But wow that's a solid chunk of nuyen. Maybe she's being a bit judgy. She vaguely remembers Sandra telling her she was forwarding her portfolio around to various folk, the messenger's probably following up on that. She takes a moment to come up with a reply, not knowing the person on the other side won't respond, or perhaps even read it. Cathy glances down at her hands. Maybe she should wash up a bit? Not just the hands, but the all of it. She should probably get her things ready too. It's not too far a trip, but it'd really suck if the job-offerer expected her to go all go-time right then and there when she doesn't even have a spare clip on her. The orc swallows her last bit of dough and stands up, idly wiping herself clean with a napkin. Break's over. She grabs her bike from its spot leaning by her side, and kicks it off, moving to get herself prepped. Might need to kill some time before she heads to the meet, hopefully she'll figure out something productive. 14. Made it myself, trying to transcribe most stuff manually. Still feels a bit messy rn >.>
  15. Okay ah, cleaned up post. Got a table format for attacks and stuff, now. Made some minor modifications to gear as I added that in, listed hereBought 2 spare magazines for her gun. (-10 nuyen) Removed Stealth tags cause it's a lil odd. (+10 nuyen) Swapped the 4 smokebombs for more expensive thermal variants (-80 nuyen). Got a quick-draw holster. (-175 nuyen) For the mask, I added YNT Softweave fabric (so it's customized to comfortably fit around her horns, can't actually afford to stuff it with mods so it serves no practical use ...yet :3c), and swapped the Simrig for Responsive Interface Gear, but just the head portion. Gear doesn't work on its own, but fits her background better; she'll upgrade her body armor later to get full simsense recording ability. Also swapped Thermographic Vision with a internal gas mask, cause well, does she really need to see much? She's got ultrasound sensors in her skull. Along with a seperately bought Simrig, this brings no change to her nuyen (1,000 + 500 = 300 + 0 + 200, + 1,000)..
  16. Purple Dove & the Blue Blunder "Yeah, good idea. I'll go and see if the paramedics have something for your headaches." Violet goes and does just that, first making sure the old guy's in safe hands. And next, the cave... Purple Dove & the Blue Blunder, now at the Cave! "Nice find! Let's hope there's something here that'll make this all make sense." Purple Dove turns back, giving Coalfire and Inkwell a nod and thumbs-up. Blue interrupts her by striding forth into the hole in the hill, Violet stumbling a bit before trying to keep pace with the hound. The dog sniffs about, his big wet nose pressed to the ground. Dim light ahead, Dim Flashlight behind, it's dim all around.

  19. Concept in Short: Ex-Sportsball-with-Guns player flips off her bosses for trying to ruin her mojo, now uses her ball chasing skills for crime. Moniker: The Three-Horned Bat Name: Catherine Lagos Metatype: Orc (Satyr) Role: Ambuscader CQ-slant Scout Street-Sam, Infiltrator A professional Urban Brawl player who recently 'quit' admist a bunch of controversy she kicked off. Lacking money and resources, Cathy's turned to an alternative job, one that'll hopefuly keep her safe from the bounty on her head. Rep is everything in the Carribean League, and she's going to ride off what little fame she's got and turn it into something that'll keep her going strong. Cathy lacks a serious portofolio, being incredibly new to the shadowrunning scene, but she's got tons of recordings and drek on her skills out on the field. Turns out being trained to navigate urban environments to outmanuever and outwit a group of armed hostiles to deliver an asset to a goal is very applicable to this sort of career. Her lack of 'proper' experience is fairly apparent when dealing with her, however; Cathy's mindset's still stuck in 'gametime' mode, and a month or two of dealing with criminals hasn't quite shaken it off. Capabilities Close-Quarters Specialty: Bat's skills in hand-to-hoof's pretty darn good, especially once she gets into a rhythm. Though most of her fights don't last long; a soaring kick to the noggin's enough to disable most of her opposition. Combined with her ability to cover long tracts of ground in an instant, she's easily able to engage foes from quite a ways away, slamming into them before they can so much as draw their weapons. This is all compensating for her 'middling' gunplay, however. Cathy is alright with most guns, but still relies more on instinct than training. Cyberears and Astral Counter-Recon: Taking advantage of how esoteric assensing can be, Cathy can use her hearing to analyze astral auras and identify people without needing to visually examine them first. Her targets just need to make enough noise for her to pinpoint them in the astral, and well, people's heartbeats are often loud enough for her (frankly overtuned) ears to pick up, or use her ultrasound in extreme cases. Of course, this only extends to her hearing; she's good at spotting people but she's no competition for a cybereyes. A lot of people consider Bat's whole 'awakened thing' to be a gimmick, claiming it's only good as a way to reduce stress on the team mage, as her use of this on the (sports)field doesn't always work out, which honestly pisses Cathy off way more than any criticisms about her weird legs. Incredibly Manuverable: She was one of the fastest players back in the lower leagues, owing as much to her natural talent as she does to her skill with her 'ware. Quick enough to out-accelerate most cars with her skimmers and able to scale buildings as if she had wings, it's led people to believe Cathy's some kind of illegal burnout adept, or that her legs are cleverly designed bits of bioware instead of all natural, steroid-enhanced muscle. Critics often note she relies on her speed to compensate for her subpar ball throwing ability, usually 'snatching it and sprinting away like some kind of magpie'. At least nobody talks drek about her kicking technique. Slippery as a Bat: Stealth's often a matter of being where nobody else is seeing, and Bat is very good at staying out of sight, despite what her size implies. Always keep track of where people are, cut through any danger-zones as smoothly as you can, and if you ever find yourself in someone's view, be sure to end up out of sight faster than they can blink! Cathy believes being sneaky's no excuse not to be flashy while you're at it. She usually uses her sneaking to pull of ambushes whenever she has to move slowly, like in tight quarters, though this'll certainly be useful while shadowrunning. Background Her history's nothing so complicated. She was a Reefs kid, raised in the slums. Her mom wasn't an Orc like Cathy ended up being, neither of them having much going for them. Cathy's talented, but not in the sort of way that brings kids like her anything good, being tough and good at scurrying around doesn't get you a good job when you can barely put two numbers together. She always thought her life was on a path to dying in some gang politics, never lasting long enough to achieve much good. And then she took that magical aptitude test, which flipped everything on its head. Cathy's awakened status wasn't very strong, sure, all she do is seep her senses into the astral, get a peek in the world beyond, but that's enough of an edge to elevate her over all those other kids her age. She's fragging special, and she isn't going to waste this opportunity. With a bit of a push and advice on the matter, she cleaned herself up, pushed herself for some basic training, and managed to snatch herself a nice-paying job at some private security company, trained as a form of awakened security. Pretty simple, really, keep an eye on any astral movements or magicians, be ready to call an alarm or get them to buzz off. But after a few weeks, Cathy realized something terrible: her new job is so dull she'd rather go back to being some low-end cashier than stand around some rich storefronts for hours on end, waiting for nothing of note to occur with her back straight and gun looking 'adamant', as her manager called it. But it's a solid paycheck, and it's not she can just drop it because she's simply bored, of all reasons. Cue her desperately trying to find a hobby to help her deal with this. Cathy needed something to inject a bit of liveliness back in her life, else she'll probably do something she'll regret. Between watching pit fights,, In between bouts of hobby-picking, she signed up for an amateur Urban Brawl match on some recruiter's recommendation and landed herself on the reserve roster, not truly expecting herself to get called up. But she did, and exceeded expectations. Lots of potential, especially for someone as essence-fresh as her. She went pro pretty soon after that. Quality training, got her ears chipped (and later replaced), maybe figure out how to turn that astral perception into a real powerplay maker. Cathy was apprehensive at first, but as once figured out how to pick up the pace people started to pay attention. People called her a prodigy, a real rising star, which was something she can't quite get enough of. Some minor popularity too, mostly at local meets, she wasn't big but it was nice to see. Cathy quickly grew good enough to get sent up a level by the end of last season, sell her contract for higher-end teams. More money, tenser gunplay, bigger spectacle, it was gonna be nova. So of course, her new company managers, were holding an event, and she and all the other players were there. They announced all kinds of future developments to build up hype. Facility upgrades, newly acquired players and sorts of tactics they can open up, what sorts of nova augmentations they're implementing in the roster to bring them up to league standard. Great stuff. Issue is, they never discussed the details with Cathy in the room before all this. And what they're planning pissed her off. Her new bosses wanted to install a wired reflexes system in her, knowing damn well it'll push her magical essence to the brink. She's already stressed it as is with all her augmentations, there's a serious risk anything more'll kill her astral perception for good if the docs aren't careful. But according to whatever their sportsmath number crunchers (and more importantly, her new manager) says, it's an acceptable trade-off, as Ms. Lagos'll "finally be able to keep pace with her own, audacious speed". As if her reflexes aren't some of the unaugmented best in the roster's lineup (if you tell her that's because all the quicker players got their reaction times chipped before she did, she'll punch you). Her reaction to the news was fairly high profile, unfortunately for them. Couldn't help but roll in from backstage to disrupt the 'live' interview with her team manager to question why this is the first she's heard the good news, then tell him exactly what she thinks about it. Would've ended there with just an invoked penalty clause from her contract, but leaked trids of her rant managed to get their way to smaller news outlets (Cathy may have had a hand in this; she doesn't really remember). Where it proceeded to explode into a spat of controversy, everyone and their mother tried to pull their own spin on the thread and Cathy found herself flooded with interview requests (Cathy totally rocked those, even the uncomfortably hostile ones!). She quit pretty soon after. Not officially, her contract had an overly predatory quitting clause, she just stopped showing up to work before they can do something ugly about her spot of rebellion. And left her nice apartment behind when these 'negotiators' started snooping around. Tried to disappear, found she couldn't, not without cutting ties and leaving for good, so she did the next best thing and went 'underground'. Which is where she found a way out of her declining money situation. Hopefully. She's really new at this shadowrunning thing. Her mom's kinda pissed at her for throwing away her 'free pass' to loads of money like this, so it better pay, and soon. A self-described professional, he's willing to accept requests from her, so long as she does favors or sells him some of her personal recordings. He's got a side-gig designing BTLs, and awakened like Cathy are always popular ...even if he has to fake most of the magical stuff with a lot of artistic flourishes. Cathy doesn't like him, but he's good at what he does. Jose Ramos-Teresa, Martial Arts Instructor (Connection 2, Loyalty 2) - Community Outreach (Relief Center 1), Martial Arts, Cuban Cuisine An old guy who's probably disappointed in her life choices. He frequently hangs around the Red School House in the Reefs, teaching kids lessons in self-defense. Cathy used to go there a while back, and occaisionally sends in some donations to keep the place going, but hasn't gotten around to that lately. Her money's tight. Qiu Mai, Corporate Hermetic Magician (Connection 1, Loyalty 3) - Academia Gossip, Corporate Magic, Trideo Shows, Wuxing A friend. Cathy rescued this poor girl from a pickup bar before she ended up fainting from her nerves. Not at all suited to the nightlife, Cathy found Mai's surprisingly clever whenever she's not stressing out about her surroundings, a nice conversation partner once she gets herself going. She knows a lot on more esoteric topics, and has cast a spell or two for Cathy in the past when she needed help finding something. Cathy's vaguely illegal status isn't enough to deter her from continuing to hang out with the satyr, though they haven't met in-person recently. Which sucks. Matrix meetings aren't as fun, not for a pair of awakened. [Note: I ran out of contact points. Her loyalty was gonna be higher, but had to adjust the score a bit. Pretend she lacks the confidence to help Cathy with big stuff if she feels bad vibes about it >.>] Sandra Pascal, Urban Brawl Team Manager (Connection 4, Loyalty 2) - Fixer, Sports Industry, Prison System Cathy's old team manager, back when she first went pro. More influential than her slot in the rookie leagues suggests, Pascal knows a frankly disturbing number of people throughout Southern Florida and beyond. From retired players or those who haven't made the cut, a shortlist of coaches and trainers to hone particular skillsets, and eyes everywhere with her talent scouts scouring fields, shooting ranges or prisons for new blood, Sandra's all around a well-connected gal. Cathy can't blame her for selling the satyr up a level in the leagues, Cathy's contract was worth a hell of a lot of nuyen and everyone involved thought it'd turn out well. She's still irritated as heck with the old boss, though. Qualities and Other Stuff Metatype & Awakening Low Light Vision Satyr Legs: Run speed is Agility x 6, increase Sprint bonus by +1m. +2 Str on kick attacks. Suffers social stigma as a Freak, reducing her Social skill dice pools by 1 (p. 123, RF). Aware: Awakened in a way that's useful, if mildly so. This trait has people confuse her for a wired-up adept, with all the stunts she frequently pulls off. - Astral Perception Qualities Positive (32 karma) Biocompatibility - Cyberware (5): Cyberware drains 1/10th less essence. Any multipliers are rounded down to the nearest tenth percentage (so alphaware's 80% -> 72% -> 70%). Daredevil (6): When performing a daring act, regain 2 Edge instead of 1. Fame I - Miami Sports Scene (4): +1 on Social limits and tests to positively influence people with her fame. Natural Athlete (7): +2 dice pool on Running & Gymnastics tests. Perceptive I (5): +1 dice pool on all forms of perception tests, incl. Matrix and Astral perception. Perfect Time (5): +1 dice pool on Performance tests to hold a rhythm/pace, generally able to use at least 2 Free Actions per action phase. Negative (-46 karma) Mild Addiction - BTLs (-4) Electronic Witness (-5): -1 on dice pools when Cathy knows she's not having her experiences recorded. Lack of Focus (-6): Must make a Composure (3) test to avoid getting distracted while performing an Extended Test with 5 min. or longer intervals, or when repeatedly performing the same check for prolonged periods of time. Composure pool is reduced by 1 with each success, can take breaks to reset this. Poor Self-Control • Attention-Seeking (-5): Must make a Composure (2) test to resist trying to impress herself onto people, showing off or grabbing their attention. • Thrill Seeker (-4): Must make a Composure (2) test to avoid taking the riskier or more dangerous option in a given situation. +1 to Initiative whenever she's doing this. SINner - Carribean League (-5) Stolen Gear X (-10): She's got 100,000 nuyen's worth of cyberware installed in her, all under company ownership as per her sports contract. Which means they can legally reclaim them. The current bounty's worth around 50,000¥, which is not great for Cathy. Granted, she's good enough on the field her bosses might snatch her up live and wrangle her back onto the team with a tightened leash. Her body's worth a hell of a lot more than just the chrome crammed into her, that's for sure. Superhuman Psychosis (-2): -2 on Etiquette & Leadership pools, +1 melee combat pools, must make a Composure (3) test to avoid disengaging with an impressive or challenging foe (professional rating 5+, generally). Has difficulty attributing weight to who she kills, still in the mindset of doing so for sport, which frequently brings a disconnect with others. Not dull, per say, she's fairly quick on the uptake, it's just she doesn't think drek through. Act first and consider later, any contemplation only extending to the now and never the later, not unless it's got to do with honing herself. It's always been hard to focus, hard to concentrate on anything she can't do anything about immediately. Which kinda sucks. Despite this, she's really observant of her surroundings. Eyes and ears seem to always see more than she can think, even before she learned how to astrally percieve, and getting her ears swapped with chrome's seriously amped this up. Doesn't keep her from getting distracted, her increased sensitivity's arguably made it way worse for her, and having access to a whole separate realm to get lost in doesn't help, but if anything important happens, she'll know. If she were more clever, Cathy'd probably be the sort to nap in class and pass all the tests anyway thanks to absorbing all her lessons, but she couldn't even do that while still wide-awake, so that's a tad moot. Structured learning's too memorization heavy for someone like her, it's better if she can get more hands-on with things. Cathy thinks of herself as a loose cannon, someone who does as she wishes with no qualms holding her back. Which isn't entirely accurate, she's just really impulsive at times. When there's someone to rein her in, give her a task or some guidelines to follow, Cathy is eager to please, willing to push herself to ensure she won't disappoint (not that she'll admit it to herself). Everything's more challenging and worthwhile once she's got a greater goal to go for. All she needs is some well-tested appreciation and respect. Something most authority figures will discard when convenient, in this messed up world. Cathy had a nasty habit of using BTLs to mimick a similar mindset one gets from consuming over-edited urban brawl simsense recordings (of herself, she's not a narcissist she just really likes people's appreciation), to get herself hyped up or ignore any doubts holding her back from turning her latest engagement into a new highlight reel. She doesn't quite do it (as much) now, but she often finds herself going back to that mindset even without any chips plugged in, whenever anything gets her blood pumping. Things are like a game to her, a controlled environment where Cathy's encouraged to give it her all and run herself ragged to violently beat back anyone else, where the only true consequence she suffers is when she messes up and gets herself hurt. Never matters what she does to net herself a win, so long as she earns her victory or she looks damn impressive trying. Of course, she can't look impressive if there's nobody to impress, and given her skillset focuses on silent manuevering and ambushes, there's generally a lack of people spectating Cathy, at least outside of a match. As a way to fix that, she records herself, so she can be seen retroactively! Habit used to be limited to practice matches so she can analyze her moves later (and sell it for coin), it's now expanded to recording whenever she's got her equipment ready, even when she's doing something entirely innocuous. Just in case. Keeps her alert, like she's able to stop everything and do something exciting at any moment. Shutting it off's like accepting there's nothing of interest, like there isn't even a thing to notice in the background in case she goes over her recordings later. It's not like she can't always delete it later. Though she often doesn't, it's super convenient to go back through them to jog her memory. She takes a break or is distracted on failure (for 1 interval, generally). Upon success, she loses a Composure die until she takes a break. Composure (3) to fully disengage from a challenging foe (Professional Rating 5+). If something's truly worth dealing with, she'll struggle to get their miind off them until she 'bests' them somehow, earn a win. Doesn't necessarily mean staying in combat, just conflict; she might 'pull back' from a fight only to flank them a moment later, or go out of her way to try and outwit a vastly superior opponent instead of just running away. Composure (2) to avoid taking the riskier or more dangerous option in a given situation. If there's a problem to solve, do it in a real exciting way, so long as it actually looks like it works. Composure (3) to resist trying to impress herself onto people, showing off or grabbing their attention. Damage Resistance (Body): +2 Pool, or 7 total [Bone Lacing, adds +2 eff. Body, so it won't apply if Body doesn't] Fatigue: +1 Pool [Neo-Epo] Healing: +1 Pool [Neo-Epo] OoC While I'm a lil concerned about all the Composure tests she might roll, I figure she can get wrangled by other party members easily enough. Leadership tests and all that. Hope the contacts are okay. Didn't want to go overboard on personality or looks, tried to provide a decent enough framework to provide direction while also leaving you room to slot them in wherever. Though the 'fixer' might be a lil funky, since she's less overtly linked to shadowrunning than the usual type; she knows a lot of useful people and contacts and can operate as one low-key on the side. Unsure about companies to name, as well. Manufacturers of her ware (like, is her cyberears a Shiawase model? Horizon? Refurbished Aztechnology mil-spec? Some overly modded custom-work?) could be companies who sponsored her team, or those her bosses had contacts with, etc. I filled it in earlier, but realized I was coming up with stuff solely to come up with stuff; it had no substance beyond filliing things in, cause well, my character doesn't really care about the specifics so long as it works for her. Only immediately relevant one are the guys who bought her contract and immediately started abusing her trust, but almost any corp can fill in for that, whether some huge AA-AAA or an up-and-coming company trying to get into the sports scene. 20. Purple Dove & the Blue Blunder "Hm..." Purple Dove stretches the hat, contemplatively. She ponders aloud, "A year, huh? Could there be a similar incident a while back? Quantico, maybe..." "Uh, yeah, that's real odd, mister. Sounds like she's got some sort of psychic intellect going on, though who knows how an animal could end up with that." Blue lets out a grunt and shakes his head, big floppy ears flapping about. Violet stops and gives him a gentle scratch behind the ear. "She sounds real smart, making stuff like artificial voice boxes with leftover parts. Anything else she make that stands out to you? It's fine if you don't recall, I figure she doesn't want you to pay attention to any of her stranger projects." The heroine shrugs. "If that's all, we're gonna go ahead and check on the caves. Tunnels?" She glances over at Inkwell.
  21. Uh, sure! Done and finished! I really wish I didn't read and forget I never responded to your post. Going to rely less on the notification system to remind me. Not usually this negligent, I swear. Guess an update on how things are going for me, I've been a bit sick for a while now, left me feeling slow. Just uh, low-energy enough for me to be napping all the time, though the last few days were messier than the usual. Are you guys doing alright?
  22. Purple Dove & the Blue Blunder "Oh, for sure. There was a fire going on just over there," Dove points with her hat-hand, cap flopping about, "And when people questioned you on it, you were bouncing between acting real angry and parroting from script of some sort, like you kept changing your mind mid-phrase.Your hat did some mind control, I think, and it wasn't very gentle about it. It made you cover things up, looks like the fire was getting rid of evidence for some scheme." Purple Dove rubs at her shoulder. "Who is Thomasina? Some kind of headache doctor? Sounds like she got you tangled up in something nasty."
  23. (Oh! I was waiting on you guys cause I assumed the party was split already. Didn't want to get too far ahead and make it weird to continue. Which... sounds really dumb, agh. Uh, give me a moment)
