  1. Noted! Was taking one additional thanks to the Background, specifically Technology. Didn't realize that, my bad. Will update when I can.
  2. Oh no, I'm well aware, I'm copying it over from another version of the character. Wanted to get it all there before I started cutting down and changing things, hence the WIP tag lol. Need to brush up on my Old Republic lore and the timeline of things, especially the state of the Mandalorian clans by the start of the game. Edit: just added my character sheet. Let me know if there's any issues at the moment.
  3. Gotcha! I'll probably end up going with the Technology background for what I had in mind then.
  4. Apologies for the repeated pings, but I was wondering if, given the fact that we're using backgrounds, you'd be okay with homebrewing a "Planet" of Origin background for Mandolorian characters (in case we do end up with multiple Mandos lol). Language: Mando'a Skills: Initiative, Endurance, Knowledge (tactics)
  5. Gotcha. As a side note, how are we determining HP after the first level? Maximizing the roll, rolling on our profile pages, etc.?
  6. Question regarding the Internal Generator armor upgrade. Would it be possible to use said upgrade to power a Rifle weapon (ie a Light Repeating Blaster) via connected cables, given the weapon states it can be attached to a power generator for longer use?
  7. Lmao, though granted it would kinda make sense for the kind of work implied for we're being recruited for. That said, kinda considering either not taking armor or going for something lower cost, given the cost of most armor alongside weapons and gear, and the talent investment to use it properly lol.
  8. Think that one's been answered lol. Seems like we're gearing up for a bunch of Mandos.
  9. Quick question regarding the costs of stuff like the Mandalorian Combat Suit (KOTOR Campaign Guide pg. 201). Both the wiki and the book itself don't have any costs listed for these particular armors. What would you ballpark those at in terms of credit costs? For equipment in general, do we need to account for miscellaneous stuff like energy cells and other minor-but-ubiquitous items? Just want to know how important that kind of stuff will be so I can budget chargen purchases properly lol.
  10. Mandalorian (Human) Tech Specialist/Mercenary Description Rasaja is a Human Mandalorian woman, hailing from clan Cabur. Just reaching her 30s in age, Rasaja is tall, with a build that's the result of a life spent seeking out combat ... and excelling in it. Long black hair, usually pulled into a bun, frames a tanned, lean face that's usually hidden behind a helmet. Her eyes glint with an intelligence that's equally adept at slicing through computer systems as it is assessing weak points in enemy formations. Her armor, made in the distinctive Mandalorian style and composed of a notable amount of beskar metal, seems to be hand-modified, and festooned with technological devices, from the jetpack on its back, to the integrated weaponry and gadgets in its gauntlets. Abilities Rasaja moves in her armor like she was born in it, bearing its weight with practiced ease. She wields her weapons with a grace that speaks to extensive training and hard-won experience, as expected of a Mandalorian. Her greatest asset, however, is her mind. Rasaja is adept with all manner of technological devices, her armor and weapons bearing her own custom tooled modifications and additions. When the shooting starts, Rasaja tends to be in the vanguard, utilizing the superior mobility of her jetpack in conjunction with her blaster to control the battlefield. While she prefers the blaster, she's no slouch in hand-to-hand combat, utilizing integrated weaponry and other technological surprises to distract, disorient, and eliminate targets. Personality The Mandalorians are a storied and vibrant culture, and Rasaja is a proud inheritor of their traditions. She is, in many ways, the archetypical Mandalorian: confident, honor-bound, and always seeking out new foes against which she can test herself and win glory for her clan. A firm believer of the Resol'nare, effectively the tenets of her people, Rasaja's tinkering with her gear, armor, and weapons has an almost religious context to it, reaffirming her commitment to the Mandalorian way of life. Rasaja prefers it when things are clear: her enemies in front of her, her clan beside her, a Mandalorian war-song on her lips, and a hefty payday waiting at the end of a firefight. However, this adherence to her people's way of life can often lead to ... confrontations. More than once has Rasaja lost a contract due to her sense of honor, even turning down jobs because the targets would have been too easy, or some other condition that went against her code. With times being what they are, however, such work is becoming much more common, and she's had to swallow her pride to allow for the continued wellbeing of the clan, especially while operating solo or with others outside the clan. Time will tell how much she can stomach such things, but for now, it's worth the trade. One of the few jobs that Rasaja will take without hesitation is the potential hunting of a Jedi. This is not out of any personal enmity, but rather a desire to see how she measures up against the ancestral enemies of her people, having been raised on the stories on the battles between Mandalorian and Jedi from millennia past. Backstory (WIP) Rasaja's early life bears similarities to many tales told by those on the Outer Rim. An orphan growing up on a space station in a backwater system, Rasaja subsisted on the charity of the kinder station occupants, as well whatever food she could beg, borrow, or steal. While not entirely successful as a thief, she made up for it with a talent in mechanics, scavenging what she could out of the disposal dumps to cobble together into functional items that might earn her a few credits. Eventually, this earned her the attention of the station's maintenance crew, and they often approached her to help make repairs in hard-to-reach areas, with a promise of food and credits as payment. While not the most friendly of relationships, it was enough to let her survive. Around her 9th standard year, however, the station received a set of ... intriguing visitors. Most of the time, Rasaja mentally dismissed the spacers that visited this backwater station. They were all the same, one way or another. Besides, the ones that did try to poach her for their crew weren't exactly friendly about it. But these ones were different. Their armor was so shiny, and had incredible devices built into it, things she'd only seen in holovids before. Each one was distinct, but they all bore the T-visor on their helmets that acted as a unifying standard. She found excuses to hang around where they were as they traversed the station; apparently they were on the trail of a bounty, and their target had finally run out of credits to bribe their way into a ship's hold. Unfortunately, given their unfamiliarity with the station, they seemed resigned to wait out their bounty. Rasaja, however, saw her chance. She approached the armored warriors, and noticed that one of them was having difficulties with a device on their gauntlet. Something regarding the display, a problem that Rasaja had encountered before, and luckily, knew how to fix. She said as much, catching the crew off guard. They didn't take her seriously at first, but she was used to that. Most people didn't accept the words of a child with sincerity, especially not a child off the street in mismatched clothing. But the confidence in her words about the solution, as well as the various devices she herself wore, convinced the warriors to try her solution out. Impressed, the warriors rewarded her with some of their travel rations, and a few credits for good measure. To them, it was small gift that they were honor-bound to give, for aid rendered. For Rasaja, it was the greatest collection of food and money she'd seen in front of her up till now. And she was hungry for more. She offered to aid them in collecting their bounty, for a small share of the reward. The warriors agreed, and not long after, they'd cornered their quarry. However, having been backed into that corner, their target, a Quarren crime boss of some note, had called in some favors, and the warriors found themselves ambushed. Rasaja realized that if these warriors died, she wouldn't see her reward. The fact that they'd been genuinely nice and caring to her during their time on the station didn't hurt either, too. So, she decided to help. Crawling into the maintenance hatches and crawl spaces of the station, Rasaja operated doors and created distractions, shadowing the warriors, separating the Quarren's goons from each other and making them easy pickings. Seeing these warriors in combat was an eye-opening experience for Rasaja. She watched as they soared through the air on their jetpacks, while shooting their blasters or employing those devices integrated into their armor to devastating effect. She doubted they really needed the help, but she persisted anyway. After a running gunfight from one end of the station to the other, the chase ended with the Quarren in binds, an irate station population, and a very curious bounty hunting crew. Rasaja came clean to them, and they, in turn, gave her the promised share of the reward, on top of a little extra for the help. They praised her bravery and quick thinking, and the girl couldn't help but feel a pang of sorrow at the thought of them leaving. Rasaja expected this to be the end of things; she'd helped them, they paid her back in turn. So she was caught off-guard when the warriors extended to her an offer: come with them, be a part of their clan, their people, the Mandalorians. She could travel the galaxy, see so many new things, and fight alongside a group of people bound by conviction, honor, and a philosophy that stretched back millennia into the past. They warned that their way of life wasn't for the soft, or the undisciplined, but they were confident that Rasaja was neither. They offered her freedom, and a chance to live her life to the fullest, not just survive. How could she say no? Clan Cabur A clan with a long and storied history, dating back to the times of the Mandalorian Wars and the height of the Old Republic, clan Cabur in the current era has adopted a position of overall neutrality to the burgeoning Galactic Empire. While individual members are not restricted from taking work offered by the Empire, the clan overall is neither pro- nor anti-Imperial, maintaining their distance from any political involvement. So long as the Empire does nothing to disrupt this equilibrium, clan Cabur is content to focus on their own wellbeing and growth, adapting to the new order of the galaxy after the end of the Clone Wars, drying up what was effectively a seller's market. The majority of the clan's infrastructure can be found in various holdings on the Outer Rim, home to foundries, workshops, and barracks. The clan's territories closest to Mandalore itself, however, have recently come under attack due to infighting from other Mandalorian clans due to the instability left in the wake of the Empire's rise. Known for their expertise with technology and hardware, clan Cabur is home to innovators and inventors, with centuries of experience in developing new weaponry and tactics to overcome their foes. Indeed, it’s not uncommon to see prototypes integrated into the armor of the clan’s warriors, either hand-made, or being field-tested on the behalf of a close relative or kinsman. Rasaja's induction into the Cabur clan was arduous endeavor. Every day, the training grew harder, but she persevered. She learned more and more of the wider galaxy, and listened raptly to the tales of the clan as they told the history of heroes and great battles. Through it all, she was supported by the ones who'd found her, who'd extended their hands to her to help her rise up. Zoran, a Chiss, the one who'd had the technical difficulty in the first place. He taught her what he knew of technology, always entertaining her ideas for devices, even if they didn't always work out. Jabrek, Zoran's brother, a giant of a man, who had noticed the devices she wore when they'd first met. He, on the other hand, took responsibility for her physical training, pushing her to her limits, and teaching her how to surpass them. Sahn, a human, the one who gave her the first reward. She took Rasaja under her wing, teaching her the Resol'nare, of Mandalorian culture and the language, Mando'a, and about the wider galaxy, regaling her with tales of their travels and stories of the clan's past. Nao'mah, a Twi'lek, the one who saw her skulking in the shadows as Rasaja tailed them. She taught the girl how to fight dirty, how the galaxy really worked underneath all the holoscreen advertisements and towering cities, how to navigate the underground for information on a target, and get that information if people were being ... difficult. They were a family, the first one that Rasaja had truly known. Through them, she learned what it meant to truly be Mandalorian: to protect one's family, to use one's strength to aid her brothers and sisters in the clan, and to live a life without regrets. Under their tutelage, she grew and flourished, passing the trials of adulthood and becoming a true Hunter of the clan. As an adult, Rasaja joined her family on excursions, from bounties to mercenary work. She favored two particular fighting styles, melding them together into something that complemented her strengths and shored up her weaknesses. The first, Kyr'am Teh Jaon'kov, or "death from above" in Basic, emphasized mobility via jetpack, leveraging aerial maneuvers to remain unharmed while airborne. The second, Kebii'tra Keldab, or "sky citadel", utilized integrated weaponry, close combat techniques, and heavy armor to create a mobile bastion, an eye in the storm around which a formation could be centered. Through it all, with the encouragement and guidance of her family, Rasaja experimented, explored, and expanded her horizons, winning glory and honor for her clan, and living in the closest thing to paradise she could imagine. But, of course, all good things come to an end. TO EDIT The rise of the Empire was ... quiet, all things considered. In the wake of the end of the Clone Wars, the wider galaxy began to adjust to a time of instability, as the Empire consolidated itself, and began instituting policies of ... concerning nature. The humanocentric nature of the Empire made life harder for Zoran, Jabrek, and Nao'mah, oftentimes forcing them to wear their helmets for the entire time they were in public on Core worlds. Regardless, the family stomached the changing times. It became harder and harder to find work that wasn't related to the Empire, in one way or another. While the rest of her family turned to internal matters in the clan, Rasaja stepped up, taking on more bounties and mercenary work to help support her family and clan in their endeavors, spending more and more time away from her home. Even if working with the Empire rubbed her the wrong way, Rasaja reasoned, their credits were good, and as long as they left the clan alone, she didn't care. She started taking jobs from known Imperial-aligned fixers. At first she was picky, taking challenging targets, or refusing jobs if they felt more like someone asking for a thug to accompany a shakedown, rather than a proper hunt. Eventually, however, she came across a job from the Empire itself: hunting someone rumored to be a Jedi. The Jetii, as they were known in Mando'a, were considered to be the ancestral enemies of the Mandalorians. Furthermore, the Empire had declared the Jedi to be traitors, and sponsored bounties on them. Rasaja had always wanted to fight a Jedi, and so took the job without hesitation. The hunt ended up being a dud, but her actions did win her the attention of certain elements of the Empire. Eventually, she found more Imperial-aligned work, the credits being promised more than enough to fuel clan Cabur's continued existence. Gritting her teeth, and swallowing her pride, Rasaja began working Imperial jobs more regularly. She found herself becoming more and more numb to the actions of the Empire. Every time rumors of a Jedi reared their head, however, she'd paid attention, anticipating how she'd measure up to her people's ancient foes. Every time, however, either the rumors were untrue, or someone else had gotten there first. A growing disappointment, twinned with the unease at the thought of continuing to work with the Empire, gnaws at her. But to someone like Rasaja, survival comes before morality. And so she continues to pursue her work. Sometimes she wonders where her breaking point is. What will cause her to have had enough, what line will she cross that will force her to do something she can't come back from? But for now, the credits are good, and clan Cabur is untouched. That's enough. That has to be enough.
  11. Ah, that makes sense. But yeah, thinking of doing a Mandalorian tech specialist/heavy weapons gunner. Though granted with the amount of credits we have that may change lol.
  12. Heyo! Stumbled upon this, tempted to revive a Mandalorian concept I've had for a while. Also, out of curiosity, I'm noticing several of the dates in various posts are dated as being in 2023 or 2022 lol. Is this an old game that's being revived?
  13. Gotcha! Looking forward to seeing what the crew runs into lol
  14. So is there going to be an announcement for people who get picked for the less active roster, or has that already been decided? Wondering just in case that's a possibility lol.
