  1. My first experience with DnD was back in 1986 as an 11 year old. My parents had gotten the Dungeons and Dragons Basic Set (The Keep on the Borderlands + Caves of Chaos). They and my older brother sat down to play it. My identical twin brother and I weren't 'old enough' to understand the rules...so we weren't allowed to play. It didn't take very long before they decided they didn't really care for the game and my twin and I 'inherited' the books (likely for the pictures...lol). At that time, my twin and I had started avidly reading both the Dragonlance and Forgotten Realms series of novels. It wasn't long before my twin (as Caramon Majere with 'stick sword' and 'cardboard shield') and I (as Raistlin Majere with 'old wooden stick for a staff' and a 'cloth bag with a string to sinch up the top and containing the players guide, opened to the spell section') were tromping around the more than 300 acres of Canadian Crown land that surrounded our 9 acre homestead in northern Alberta pretending to be heroes thwarting all sorts of evil. It wasn't much longer after that that we learned the rules and have been playing DnD (in all of its later iterations) as well as many other RPGs ever since. Hard to believe that in less than a handful of years, we'll be hitting the 40 years of playing this game.
  2. Interest Check vs GM Wanted Should I be posting a desired game as "Interest Check" to see if there are any other players interested in such a game, before posting for a GM wanted for said game...or is Interest Check strictly used by GM's wishing to host a game to see if there are players interested in playing in it?
  3. 1. I'm looking for a game for this character (Anaya Moonshadow): If Gestalt - Fairy (Rune Carver Background) Ranger (Primal Guardian) 8//Barbarian (Path of the Totem Warrior) 8; or If not Gestalt - Fairy (Rune Carver Background) Ranger (Primary Guardian) 5/Barbarian (Path of the Totem Warrior) 8 2. Resources allowed (any official/UA material). 3. Party size (3-8; GM choice) 4. Gestalt Rules (if a Gestalt game) to be used: 5. Combat is great, but I am also looking for opportunities to explore concepts like exploration and discovery, solving puzzles and other types of 'challenges', character development/growth. possibly some politics/diplomacy accompanied by some sabotage/cloak and dagger, along with anything else you might want to throw in there. 6. Posting - I can go with whatever comes my way. Preferring often over infrequent. 7. Regardless of starting level, my hope is that the intent is to see this run as an epic campaign, spanning as many levels as possible. 8. All characters use the same stat array (18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8) and start with character wealth based on starting level, using the following chart: 9. Location of adventure/campaign: My preference would be in the Forgotten Realms, but I'm not going to be too fussy. 10. Ideally, I would like to see this be a nature-based game (IE: takes place in the Forests of Cormanthor, where our character's are brought together by an ancient council of Treant to act as its Guardians. Possibly involving Myth Drannor in some way. I have ideas but don't want to steer this in a given direction in case a prospective GM has their own ideas. if there is interest in seeing the ideas I have for where this could go, I'm more than willing to share them. That all said, if a nature-based game doesn't interest anyone, I'm open to other ideas.
