  1. Right, the in-game benefits will indeed be slight, especially in the beginning. There is a good change the same answer will be provided for us all. But as Maester said, it might give us a clue as to what kind of enemy would be the most dangerous (ex. hordes, Nob, Vehicle, etc.), or even provide a vague hint of some twist to come. Provided I make my roll (my suggestion is that I don't make the roll. I'd rather not know how accurate the information is). That said, maybe it is a bit too much to ask everybody. Perhaps a better idea is to perform the ritual for a different marine for each mission? As a side note, I will be unable (or at-least limited in my ability) to post for the next two days as I will be traveling.
  2. Question mainly for our DM, but partially for everyone. Degei is able to use Augury via the Emperor's Tarot, to gain insights into the near future. I am however struggling slightly how to use this in a PbP setting. Ideally, Degei would like to ask everyone if they would sit with him for a Tarot session before the mission. Now, not every marine might not be eager to participate, but if we play it like that it could still disrupt the flow if we play it like that. So a few questions: Triss: Do you mind the use of Divination powers? How do you handle things like Augury? Would you like this to be role-played, or just be an off the screen roll. Do you mind if Degei invites the rest for such sessions, or would you prefer that Degei keeps this to himself? If you do like to roleplay this out, what form do you suggest this takes? Everyone: Would your marine like to participate in such a session, given your attitude towards psykers/librarians in general and Degei in particular?
  3. I think it is a great question; I suspect we are to retrieve it, but it is also nice to know our options when we are in a bit of a pickle. Edit: I think there is an unspoken rule that (human) artifacts are generally sought to be retrieved for our own use1, but the calculation can be different if there is a significant chance of failure. For Xenos artifacts I'd say it completely depends. Edit 2: I would not be surprised if our Techpriest would have some sort of fit over this outcome thought. I forgot we are talking about a Xenos artifact here. Regarding your other questions: The Core Rule Book (CRB) has a Vox-Caster on pg.176 which can be used to communicate with a ship in orbit. Rites of Battle has various naval assets which can be (potentially) requisitioned: ex. a Lance/Torpedo Strike, High Altitude Bombing run, or Close Air Support. These do all require more than the starting Renown though, so I don't think they will be available unless our DM is extremely nice to us. Depends on the asset ;-), but the Lance strike is accurate to about 1km or when it misses, it is off by 1km/DoS, whereas a strafing run is basically an ally shooting a las- and/or autocannon at the target and hopefully hitting. So unless we are in melee, the chance of us getting hit are rather slim (Unless our DM is rather devious ;-) ). 1) from my understanding, and I could be incorrect here, almost everything from the Dark Age of Technology seen as Sacred, with the exception of AI, and possibly cloning.

While he often carried a serious demeanor, witnessing Shadow's attempt at levity brought a welcomed sense of camaraderie among them. As Lord Lupercal delved into the details of their mission, a momentary surprise flickered across Degei's face. He had anticipated the usual formalities followed by a briefing from an officer, but the direct address from the Primarch caught him off guard. The White Scar recovered himself quickly enough, and moved to the holographic display to observe the mission parameters. Degei's mind raced with questions as he absorbed the gravity of their mission, his gaze flickering between the holographic display and the imposing figure of Lord Lupercal. The revelation of facing such a formidable foe as Thogzulk Skullrippa, coupled with the urgency of retrieving the xenos artefact, intensified the weight of their task. With a respectful nod towards the Primarch, Degei stepped forward, his guttural voice firm as he addressed Lord Horus. "My Lord, in addition to the excellent questions of my brothers, if I may ask a few questions regarding the operation." He waiting a moment to the the Primarch the option to refuse, before continuing, "Am I correct in assuming that this is a single mission, or are we expected to perform several missions before extraction to the Imperator Somnium?" Degei's inquiry aimed to clarify the scope and duration of their assignment, ensuring they were prepared for any eventuality that may arise during their deployment. "Additionally, if we uncover actionable information regarding the artifact, are we to prioritize its retrieval over the safety of the Magos?" "Second, what are the resupply or extraction options?" This was an extension to his first question, since the initial briefing implied to Degei that they were expected to be cut-off from resupply or extraction during these operations, but the mission's briefing suggested otherwise, thus he requested clarification. "Finally, what is the expectation on enemy voidship activity around the moon? Is the Imperator Somnium expected to stay on station continuously during the length of the mission?" This could enable observatory support from the voidship, and, if there was significant activity, it might be an indication that preparation for an extended stay on the surface was in order, regardless of intentions of the mission planners.

As Horus Lupercal, entered the chamber, Degei's heart quickened with a mixture of awe and determination. Here stood a living legend, a beacon of hope for all who served the Imperium. He had once seen his Khan practicing zo, a Chogorian martial arts. As far as Degei had been able to determine, he had been flawless, a testament to the unmatched prowess of the Primarchs. When the Horus revealed the true purpose of their summons, Degei's attention sharpened. The gravity of the situation was not lost on him, and he listened intently to the Primarch's words. His loyalty to the Emperor and his determination to serve the Imperium burned brightly within him, and he felt a surge of pride at being chosen for such a crucial mission. Yet despite that gravity, Degei suppressed a chuckle. It dawned on the Stormseer that he would miss the Main Crusade, again, and instead be part of a Kharash, an almost ad-hoc formation created for a diversionary or shock attack. While joining a Kharash was voluntary, it was popular, both for clearing any (perceived) sin, and advancement through the honour of surviving. As Degei looked around at his Astartes Brothers, he could clearly see the similarity. It was something Degei was intimately familiar with. "We are truly honored, Lord," Degei spoke with a reverence that bordered on awe, yet beneath that lay a steely resolve. "To be chosen for such a vital task is a testament to the trust you place in us, and we shall endeavor to prove ourselves worthy of it. Together, we shall be a lance, striking into the Horde's Achilles Heel so fast and with such righteous zeal, it will leave them reeling in our wake."
  6. From my understanding, I could use a bolter in the other-hand; I just can't use the staff (as a weapon) in the mean-time. So I have to drop the bolter before using the staff as a melee weapon; correct? That said; you are making me ponder on that choice again, since the only real advantage of the staff is the invocation bonus... Right, scratch that, I'll go back to the sword.
  7. I just switched the Inspire power to Augury, and I'm taking a force staff instead of a force sword.

There was a certain wisdom in the Astartes' words, earned through harsh experience, and Degei was eager to absorb it into his own understanding of warfare. "Your wisdom resonates deeply, Brother Vulker," Degei acknowledged, his tone sincere and appreciative. "The Greenskins, for all their brutish appearance, possess a cunning that makes them formidable. Adaptability is our greatest asset in facing such adversaries." Pausing briefly, Degei contemplated the strategic implications of Vulker's counsel. "Indeed, we must anticipate their ever-shifting tactics and guard against their unpredictable maneuvers. Stagnation invites defeat; we must remain agile and dynamic in our response." With a solemn nod, Degei continued, his voice lowering almost to a whisper as he reflected on a troubling memory. "Above all, we must remember the purpose of our mission, and not succumb to the thrill of battle for its own sake." He recalled a haunting image of a fellow Brother consumed by unchecked ferocity, a cautionary tale of losing oneself in the heat of combat. Thoughts of Brother Jurgei surfaced, his absence weighing on Degei's mind. "Where has Brother Jurgei vanished to?" he wondered silently, troubled by the unanswered questions surrounding his comrade's sudden departure into the hands of the Zadyin arga.
  9. From looking at the , the discovery of Lion El'Jonson is found between 835 and 837.M30, and apparently around that time also named his legion (?). The start of the Ullanor campaign seems to be in 999.M30, so ~160 years later. So I reckon they did call themselves 'Dark Angels' for quite some time already. I think they Firewing stayed until the second founding. According to it stayed atleast until the Heresy. Regarding the colour scheme, this seems to claim that they only changed color scheme around the second founding... Edit: All in all I think it is safe to say that all the changes (except the naming) were made during the second founding. Regarding 'Bolter Mastery': We don't have much ranged capacity at the moment, with most members being stronger in the melee, and we don't have a Devastator. On the other-hand, Squad modes are quite powerful and having extra options available could prove very useful.

To which he added, after hearing Vorticar's words, but not in direct response of the Luna Wolf, "Then again there is inherent danger, and there is willful danger..." Vorticar realy seemed to be a glory hound then, and also a suave leader. Dangerous, apart, even more dangerous in combination. Too often even effective. "Then again", he thought, "His own battle-brothers were also sometimes accused glory hunting, for their emphasis on speed. Mayhaps it was no different with Vorticar, still he should keep an eye on that one." Degei was however surprised by the fury of Vulker's outburst, but he understood that everyone had lost either battle-brothers limbs or more to the enemy. However, techmarines were famous for there dispassion. "No apologies are necessary, for your passion and fury is commendable, brother", he stated to Vulkur, "But it is indeed better targeted at the enemy, for you will find no disagreement on this here."

Mostly because of his own awkwardness and inability to carry a normal conversation. Something he noted especially with these cousins-in-battle. But even with his own battle-brothers he noticed the same thing. Degei sometimes marveled at the conversations the legion serfs had, concerning basically nothing. That was something he was almost unable to do, and he noticed the same in many of his brothers. The training of an Astartes was long, hard and grueling, but did not incorporate training in idle conversation. He wanted to continue this conversation with an idle-remark, something about the halls they were in, or an attribute one of the other Astartes was carrying, but failed in finding a suitable topic. It was then that he noticed the eyes of the battle-brother whom introduced himself last. 'Interesting', he thought, but it hardly seemed like a suitable topic of conversation. 'Back to business it is then...' "Has any of you received more information regarding our assignment?", He asked in his gutteral voice, "It must be something interesting to go through the trouble of requisitioning such a diverse squad". This was an assumption. Several in-fact, but he deemed all of the assumptions to be rather safe. He hoped for something planet-side. Any planet would do, though a planet with plains, forest and wind would be preferred. The travel here had been long and he missed feeling wind and rain. The Arboretum of the ships helped somewhat to cure his restlessness, but were no substitute for the real thing. In addition, the spirits of this place felt cold and .. hollow, leaving a constant taste of copper in his mouth.
  12. If there is such a feature, apologies, I couldn't find it. I would like to have a private area (something of a notepad or scratchpad) for each game where I can put roleplay notes, common used phrases or behaviour, etc.

Characteristics: WS 45, BS 41, Str 438, Tgh 428, Ag 53, Int 41, Per 48, Will 55, Fel 39, Psy 3 Movement: 5/10/15/30 Awareness: 58(Sound,Sight)/48 Wounds: 20/20 Fate Points: 4/4 Degei's radiates a calm as he observes the flurry of activity within the grand halls of the Imperator Somnium. With a nod here and a smile there, he acknowledges the curious glances of the naval crew, his actions speaking volumes of the respect he holds for all who serve the Imperium. When an midshipman stumbles and spills her load of data-slates, Degei moves with instinctive grace, and he swiftly bends to assist, gathering the scattered slates with a nod to the young crew member. In the exchange, his eyes convey a silent message of encouragement, reassuring her of solidarity among those who stand united in service to mankind. Returning his gaze to the assembly of his fellow Astartes, Degei experiences a faint sense of being underdressed, a feeling that is attenuated with the grandeur of the resplendent halls of the Imperator Somnium. The Stormseer is clad in the traditional garb of Chogoris, a white and yellow deel expertly adorned with the Lightning Bolt insignia of the White Scars. A large purple sash, emblazoned with the Storm insignia of his brotherhood, drapes across his form. Despite the simplicity of his attire compared to the ornate armor of his comrades, Degei's presence commands respect, his bearing a testament to the strength of his character and the depth of his devotion to the Emperor and the Khan. He introduces himself with a guttural voice, "Degei Bajan, Stormseer of the Fifth Legion," he declares as he puts his palms on top of each other with his elbows outwards, a gesture of his nomadic heritage. "In whatever task lies before us, I am confident we shall forge a path to glory for the Emperor and the Khan."
